BEFORE THE WILLENNIUM 2004
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, i can't tell if they thought they were putting 2gether a really fly album cover, or if it is supposed 2 look like a Hip-Hop album cover from the 80's. At a price like that, i couldn't help but get it. Maybe i'll scan the inside pic sometime. Of course the original version also had that really cool pic of them in the shiny suits from 1989....u know Puffy and Mase jacked that style for the "Mo Money Mo Problems" video. -
BEFORE THE WILLENNIUM 2004
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I'm pretty sure the trax aren't remastered cuz they would probably advertise that if they did. When i waz listening 2 it, i would have 2 turn the volume down cuz of the difference in sound quality. Oh yeah, the back pic replaces the blue in Jeff's album with red. -
No, they are still cool (still perform live 2gether). This is just a DJ's/VJ's mix. Some of the people like L.L. and Canibus has a legit battle. But none of those R-N-B acts had battles (come on now) and half of those other peeps are just this guy mixing stuff. Only 6 of those could be considered battles. "Mariah vs. MC Shan!!" What is a modern day R-N-B/Pop star gonna be doing battling an old skool MC...that's just stupid.

should will use the internet for his new album
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yes, i want it now and Will would get all the profits at this point. Of course it could be considered a collectors item if he tossed in any bonus stuff or if would be kinda different from the official release. -
I just picked up the 2004 edition of Before The Willennium..ha ha. For those of u who don't know, it's the most pointless JJ+FP compilation ever. The 1st version came out in 2000 just after Willennium. It's a 10 track compilation CD with 6 "greatest hits/singles" and 4 album trax...no new material. For any JJ+FP who can spare $10 or less, it's a cool buy just 2 have it...i guess...ha ha...at least 4 the "new" pictures in it. Well, as if finding the Japan version of wazn't funny enuff (with 5 bonus trax from Willennium and an unreleased "Boom! Shake The Room" remix), they just re-released it. This one has a really colorful with cartoony images behind them and it has a doctored pic of that pic on the back of the Platnium + Gold collection back cover. Instead of FP wearing blue, they altered it so he's wearing yellow. I 4get what colors Jeff waz wearing but they made them black and orangy red. "JJ+FP" is written in a very scribbleish kinda font and "Before The Willennium" is in purple in this 80's looking font with a totaly unnecessary silote (sp?) of a city behind it. The back cover is really colorful 2 and it has the pic of the original Before The Willennium cover but Jeff's shirt has been made yellow instead of red. The coolest thing about this version is the pic INSIDE under the CD tray...it's a pic i've never seen and it's dope!! It's from the And In This Corner... cover photo shoot. It's actually cooler than that album cover but it wouldn't go with the title as well. It has the smoke around them. Jeff is striking a b-boy pose and cocking his head back. FP is kinda leaning on his shoulder with his hand on his hip. The whole pic is tinted in red...VERY VERY COOL. This version of it is still a BMG Special Product but it's also credited as a "Priceless Collection"....ha ha. It also has a link at www.oldies.com. It's easy 2 consider JJ+FP old skool...but not "oldies." If anyone tries the link, maybe they have a cover of this new version. Just thought i'd share.
-
I don't think anything is known about Jeff's partner at the time him and Will met. Either way, what made JJ+FP hook up full time waz their chemistry. Their chemistry and friendship waz more powerful or they wouldn't have kept working 2gether.
-
I wouldn't mind watching it but i wouldn't pay for something unathorized like that...at least not alot. It's cool that they put FP on the cover. I guess they just spliced music videos 2gether or something.
-
Not all labels are like that cuz not all labels think like that tho.' That's why some artists have had slumping sales in the past and remain on the label...cuz they are not trying 2 be just a money making machine.
-
Just by looking at this, it looks like a DJ who just blended 2 trax by the artists above and made it sound like a battle. Since Eminem has only devoted one line 2 dissing Will (which wazn't even technically a diss) and since Will never talked mess about him, i can't imagin what that is. Probalby some weak mix of The Real Slim Shady and Freakin' It or something. Looks interesting but it's probably just a stupid DJ-made mix. For a cheap price it might be worth getting.

I saw Shreck 2 last nite and it had the Shark Tale trailor in front of it. The second i saw it come on, my hand grabbed on 2 my friends leg...she freaked out at 1st but then she realized it waz a Will Smith movie. The trailor is great...this movie is gonna be BIG!!

The thing is alot of people who run record labels (L.A. Reid, Michael Bivins, Babyface, L.L. Cool J, Will, Jermaine Dupri, etc) ARE artists so they SHOULD know what needs the artists need met. Some of them do a decent job and of them screw over their artists the way they were screwed over.
-
Yeah, i plan on getting it 2. Do they already have them printed up or did u pre-order it. U know that Will waz involved behind the scenes if not on the album...so that's at least ONE reason 2 get it.
-
I personally don't care about anybody apologizing or anything...it waz what it waz and it wazn't as big of a deal as people make it out 2 be. I like Janet's new album alot, but i don't think "I Want You" should have been the lead off single.
-
I personally don't like cussin.' When i get an album that contains explict lyrics, i get the edited version. I just don't wanna hear all that. It usually just puts me in a bad mood and i've worked 2 hard 4 myself 2 clean up my own language so i don't need music takin' me "there." Back in the 90's when it becamea standard 2 have an explict lyrics sticker, alot of groups would cuss just enuff 2 get a sticker...that's wack 2 me. If u are gonna cuss, cuss from the heart, not just 4 sticker 2 be marketed as some fake gangsta. 2 me, exessive cussing just makes u look ignorant (artists and people in general). People can do what they wanna, but that dosen't mean it should be forced on EVERYBODY. Most of my favorite artists keep it clean or at least respectable. That dosen't mean i can ocassionally enjoy a song like Eminem's "Kim"...ha ha...love that song.

Kids Don't Know Who Jazzy Jeff Is????
JumpinJack AJ replied to TopDawg14's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
It's good 2 know some parents know how 2 bring their kids up right. A kid who wazn't brought up on DJ Jazzy Jeff needs 2 be put in a foster home!! -
they dhould drop thier atists as soon as they arnt populair anymore (and this is not sarcasm) It isnt fun for us or fun for the artist BUT that is what they should do since they are a corporation and they are ment to make money
That's exactly what Columbia and Sony's other labels have been doing. Look at Mariah Carey, Jon B., Xscape, Ruff Endz, Mandy Moore, Wyclef, Will Smith...all have had big albums on Columbia, and all have had ones that did average and now they are no longer on the label. Even Jennifer Lopez and Michael Jackson have been bad mouthing them. A labels motive should not be just 2 make money. Artists are creative and talented people. Sometimes u have a hit and sometimes u don't which isn't up 2 them...it's up 2 how fans pick up on it (if they even get exposed it). Alot of those artists above have put out good stuff, but the label's weak promotion and backing 2 them is what make their albums fail (compared 2 what they wanted). That's the label's fault, not theirs.

lil about WillSmith.com/.net
JumpinJack AJ replied to willreign's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, Will won the web-address since the person who 1st registered it advertised the site as an official site (which waz actually quite good). Will really should have his own website rather than have his label's handle the sites. If Will had his own people runnin' it, we'd always be updated, we have access 2 real merchandise and a legit way 2 contact Will. I'm sure the site Will and his team would put 2gether would be nothing like the ones Columbia organized. -
HA HA!!! Thanx 4 that. As an actor, i have some special stage kissing stories myself...ha ha. Ain't nothing more intense then having your girlfriend pay 2 see a show where kiss a girl down over 5 times...ha ha.

All Eyez On Me is a dope album, but at the same time, the whole Deathrow vibe clashed with 2Pac's kind of music. While there are definilty songs with substance on that album, the ratio of them 2 songs that are just songs with no real point waz kinda out weighed. I think it waz cool 4 the time, but that's why 2Pac wanted 2 get off Deathrow, cuz he didn't wanna turn his career in2 an overly explict, thugged-out, coast-beefing career. He had bigger things in mind.

NEW WILL SMITH ALBUM NEWS!!
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jazzy Julie's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Control over the music has nothing 2 do with big label vs. independent label. The control of the artist will vary from label 2 label no matter what the label is. The real reason 2 be on a big label is properly have your album promoted so that the artist themselve isn't doing ALL the work and putting ALL their own money up front. The bigger the label, the more copies of the album and the more locations it'll pop up in. For instance, Britney Spears puts out her album thru' Jive, a big label, and each music store will have like 100 copies of it on the shelves and on display. Jazzy Jeff releases his album on BBE, an independent label and u find about 5 copies of the album in music stores, and NO COPIES of it department stores. Of course that's not the best kind of example cuz they are 2 different kinds of artists from 2 different kinds of music and with 2 different kinds of fanbases...but that kinda sums it up. -
Kids Don't Know Who Jazzy Jeff Is????
JumpinJack AJ replied to TopDawg14's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
This is where i step in and stress that Hip-Hop and Rap are 2 different things. Hip-Hop music is music (any kind of music) that comes from people who came up in a Hip-Hop environment. Rap is usually Hip-Hop music but anybody from Mary J. Blige to TLC are Hip-Hop artists cuz of where they are coming from. Anybody can rap, but that dosen't make them Hip-Hop. These days, people who are only exposed 2 mainstream rap often have no idea what Hip-Hop music is these days. -
lil about WillSmith.com/.net
JumpinJack AJ replied to willreign's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
And we all know that Sony is just about money...at least when it comes 2 Columbia Records. -
Yeah, there's a whole bunch of trax where this almost no cussing...like So Many Tears, Trapped, Changes, etc. 2Pac is the most misunderstood emcee ever. Most of the fans that jumped on during that 1996 era when he waz still alive for All Eyez On Me only think he's this hardcore thrug lord....which isn't right. And most of the people who jumped on him after his murder don't really know anything about him cuz all they've heard from the "newer" stuff is raps with added on guest artists and trashy updated production (believe me, the original production of those songs waz better even if some of it would sound a lil' dated). So many people think they know what that man waz about but they simply don't. Will is the same way, so many people see the Big Willie Style-Jiggy-Miami-Hollywood Will, but we all know that's only the untouched surface of him as an artist and that the real stuff is underneathe all that. I waz never a fan of Biggie's, but 2 me he seemed 2 be one person in his records and another in real life...which wazn't real 2 me so i didn't listen 2 him. I'm sure he would have opened up over the years but we never got 2 see that.
-
When i think about this topic...i think about Will working with Lil' Kim on "Da Butta"...it's one of his weakest songs but i guess it worked better than i expected when i heard he did a track with her. The thing is with 2Pac and Biggie, they would be recycling those raps which means chemistry isn't an option cuz they can't work 2gether. I can see Will writing 2 a 2pac song cuz he waz so multi-faced and i could see a song working out with the 2 of them. I just can't see it with Biggie. I guess doing a song with a verse like "Mo Money Mo Problems" would work, but that's only cuz Biggie's verse isnt' really about anything. I love the song, but the lyrics in that song mean nothing.

This didn't load 4 me last nite...but it did this time. THANX!! Good stuff!!
