1. I didn't vote simply cuz it's 2 earley 2 guess on something like that. Spider-Man 2 has the edge tho' since it is a sequel which will drag in fans of the 1st movie (who saw it in theaters and those who later rented it). I, Robot is a sci-fi movie and those are hard 2 market and get interest sometimes. However, Will can carry alot of fans on his shoulders 2 come out and see it all by himself. With the right promotion, the movie can get alot of buzz itself. It's just 2 early 2 guess on something like this...it could go both ways.
2. Tim, that waz beautiful...that darn near brought a tear 2 my eye. Poetic almost...ha ha. I agree 100%.
3. I can help clear that up. USUALLY when an artist sells a double album, it counts as 2 sales even tho' they are part of the same album. 2pac has had 4 double albums released since he passed. On top of that, he is one of those band-wagon artists where they have a solid fanbase, but then they drop a song or album in which all of the commercial rap fans jump on them. He had a solid carreer and reputation in Hip-Hop before All Eyez On Me, but that's when all these band-wagon fans jumped on. It wasn't so much about how dope he waz or the lyrics he wrote, but that everybody else waz feeling him...so other people copied. Sadly, since his passing, they have desided 2 remix much of his material resulting in weaker more-modern production when the original versions are easily considered better (and timeless in their original form). I wouldn't say that the sales mean anything tho'...we could joke that Will didn't push over 9 millions albums until he became and solo artist. And most of us will agree that the bulk of his better music was before BWS (not 2 say that any of his albums aren't solid releases).
4. Time dose the fly...the older u get, the faster it goes by. When "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" came out, i waz a senior in high skool. That last 6 years have flown by...but they seem like just yesterday in alot of ways.
5. Welcome back!! (sorry 4 the delay, i don't check the off-topic board 2 often sometimes.)
6. The 1st 5 boards are all JJ+FP, music, movies, TV. All these others are off-topic. It's not a big deal, it's just that some people (like myself) check the JJ+FP-related boards alot more than they do the off-topic boards.
7. Man, i just ripped Rock The House 2 different ways. One with the trax labled 1st by letters and then with numbers in the front. It just throws the trax on there in no paticular order. If i don't have any control over the order of the tracklisting i'll just be making regular CDs 4 my ride. Right now i'm using Audiograbber, i'm gonna get some other software this week. Hopefully the other software will drop the trax on the CD in the order of the tracklisting. If that dosen't work, i'll only be making HUGE mix-CDs where i don't care about the order of what's on them. I guess i'm just 2 picky about my music.
8. Big Willie Style is music 4 the clubs, music 4 the radio, music 4 the charts. Willennium is music 4 the mind, music 4 the soul, music at it's best.
9. Thanx 4 the help fellas...i'll have 2 try that out. p.s. Hey Vipa, drop me an e-mail or a PM reguarding the one i sent a week or 2 ago...incase u didn't get it, i'll resend it!!
10. Bad Boy would be awful. Puffy dose reserves the right 2 alter your image and trains u how 2 be something u are not. The second and artist dosen't want 2 be that Puffy wants 2 be, they leave. Think about it...Craig Mack helped put the label out. Once Bad Boy got all popular and flashy, he no longer wanted 2 be on the label. He left the label and dropped another album with another company. Craig Mack is the best emcee Bad Boy EVER had. Of course in 2002 he started working with them again but that's becuz the glam and glitz of Bad Boy had died down. I think he has since stopped working with them. Mase got so sick of the glam, glitz, and nastyness of the music industry that he dropped everything 2 follow his faith. 112 got sick of Bad Boy and later signed with Def Jam while still being signed 2 Bad Boy (don't ask me how that worked out). I just seems that every artist who really wants 2 be an artist on their own terms ends up leaving or having problems with the label. Carl Thomas and Faith are the only artists that i think have total control over their music and image. Tho' in the early days, even Faith definitly waz being groomed and styled by Puffy's crew. Will would NEVER work on Bad Boy, they stand 4 2 many things that he dosen't stand 4. Notice that establish artists never sign 2 Bad Boy. That's becuz they already have images that Puffy can't mess with. New Edition is the only established act 2 go 2 the label after already having a history. That album waz supposed 2 come out 2 years ago and still hasn't. New Edition had crazy problems with their past company (hence the lack of studio albums as adults and all the complitaions that've put out). Will needs a company where he can be himself and do what his dose best rather than having labels who wanna control his image and how he is promoted.
11. Okay, over the weekend, i skooled myself a lil' on this whole MP3 thing. Of course, the 1st CD i've attempted 2 make waz a JJ+FP one. I ripped audio from all the JJ+FP studio albums and set up a 6th full of b-sides and the best remixes. After completeing the CD, it bugged me that it put the albums in ABC order so i retitled the albums with numbers in the beginning (example: 1. ROCK THE HOUSE) which solved that problem when i re-made the CD. HOWEVER, i have one problem that's bugging me. When i make the CDs, it put the trax in random order...not in ABC order, not in the order they are in on the albums....just all mixed up. I havn't played the CDs in my car stereo yet cuz i havn't had time 2 hook it up, but i have played them back on my computer. I even went 2 the extent of re-titling ever song in each album's folder by putting numbers in front of them which didn't help. Can ANYBODY help me out on how 2 get the trax in the correct order? I'm using Audiograbber if that helps anyone help me out. If anyone can, i'll greatly appriciate it.
12. Check the singles!! p.s. Why do all these JJ+FP related posts keep showing up on this off-topic board? 1st the "best love song by Will" post, then this?!?
13. BIG WILLIE STYLE - Commercial beats. They are good, but they are a little lackin' compared 2 the thick beats on Willennium. The beats are good, but not many of them have soul. Will's rhymes are good, but not 2 man that really stand out. It waz definitly the kind of album 2 rule the end of the 90's...but i don't think the entire album is timeless and long-standing. When u listen 2 it now, some of the trax make u say "that is late 90's Hip-Hop right there." WILLENNIUM - This album has all kindsa flavas...kinda like Code Red. It's got a track 4 nearly every kind of Hip-Hop fan. After the success of Big Willie Style, Will is alot more relaxed on this album. He just dose what he wants and dose Will. And he's aggresive on this album, he's not aggressive on Big Willie Style at all. WILLENNIUM is easily the better album.
14. Sorry guys, but any list that dosen't have Rakim listed within the top 3 isn't a list at all. That's not opinion...that's fact, sorry y'all. :dunno:
15. I can't totally visualize this. I have no problems, infact, i like the kinda artists she's molding in2. Jada's very intellegent, she's not gonna do something that'll result in "career-death"...ha ha.
16. Nobody get offended (if this offends u), just enjoy it 4 it's comedy. --------- Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message. Robin William's plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!) I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan. 1.) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic and the rest of those 'good ole boys,' We will never "interfere" again. 2.) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in the fence. 3.) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them. 4.) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers. 5.) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby. 6.) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while. 7.) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.) 8.) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything. 9.) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens. 10.) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH.....learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan. "The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'"
17. Ha!! I just read the post mentioning the "wooo"'s and "uh uh"'s as i waz listening 4 the Big Willie Style Megamix (1st time in nearly a year) and as i read the word "woo" in the post, he said it on the track...ha ha...freaked me out 4 a second.
18. I guess that's not 2 bad...but this is MTV we are talking about...do u honestly tlhink they are gonna chose the best artists?!? No way, they'll just go with the most currently succesfull ones. Everybody has different tases, and who actually makes the rules as 2 what makes "the best emcee"?!? I have no problem with with the exact order of how they rank the emcees, but i do have a problem with who they put in certain parts of it. How can u put the Jay-Z, Ja-Rule, Ludacris, Eminem, Chingy type artists any where past the 30ish area, when u have people like Fresh Prince, L.L. Cool J, Guru, Ahmad, Q-Tip + Phife, Mos Def, Common Sense, Heavy D, etc lower or not included on these kinda lists. These days it seems like nearly EVERY SINGLE RAPPER who i the wackest gets all the sales while the truley talented artists with heart get ignored 2 the point that only their fanbase know when they are releasing music. Black Eyed Peas are the only exception.
19. Yeah, on Willennium, Will went thru' a phase where just did that "Ha ha, ha ha" laff on alot of the trax. I just think it waz Will having fun while recording the track....it's alot better than adlibbing something like "Overbrook...we won't stop...cuz we can't stop"...ha ha. He dose do that laff a lil' bit on Born To Reign and on Big Willie Style 2...it's just in your face on Willennium.
20. Both are great songs (tho' i defintly would consider other trax better than these...just a few). I think "I Wanna Rock" is just a lil' better tho.' Simply b-cuz JJ+FP did the track just as a classic JJ+FP track...it's what they do. With "Pump Me Up", they kinda did what they do...but b-cuz they already did it. "I Wanna Rock" waz what JJ+FP did during Code Red, "Pump Me Up" waz JJ+FP doing what they used 2 do (and still do) but for Willennium. "Potnas" captures where JJ+FP is during Willennium cuz the track waz put 2gether by just the 2 of them, it's current, it's modern, it's JJ+FP 1999. I don't know if that makes sense 2 anyone, but that's my reasoning 4 saying "I Wanna Rock" is a bit better than "Pump Me Up."
21.
I think that the thing with rappers in the acting business has gotten too much out of hand, as a result there's more hype put into movies than there is from music. Like Will, Queen Latifah gets put down 'cause her music is more positive than what the other female M.C.'s like Lil' Kim and Trina are potraying wit their sexuality! Now Missy Elliot's starting to act in movies like "Honey" and that's a joke! :cussing: I think that Queen Latifah has to focus more on her rappin' and work wit Naughty By Nature again, to keep holdin' it down for Dirty Jers',Holla
I kinda agree but i also don't. People FP and Latifah are legends...they can't just stay in one place and play themselves out. After all, each of their latest albums had less-than-impressives sales. The movie they make aren't low-budget hood flicks that most emcees get stuck doing. They have creative AND business minds. When albums like Born To Reign and Order In The Court don't make alot of noise, they need 2 take a break and regroup musically. What better way 2 keep their name out there and make money other than doing movies and producing stuff. And i'm totally going 2 Missy's defense. I think Honey waz a dope movie and i think her cameos were hilarious. Oh yeah...and Queen Latifah has still got it, u need 2 hear the 2 new trax on her greatest hits album....both of them are dope.
22. They were already planning 2 make this movie....so i'm doubting it's REALLY supposed 2 be a spin-off of Bad Boys. I dont' know how i feel about it if it is.
23. I don't know what song u are talking about by title...but Biz Markie often spells his own name out in his songs like "The B, I, Z, M, A R-izza, K"
24. I agree...but how is this "exclusive"?? ha ha
