  1. Yeah, if I'm able to do something, it'll take a little more time.
  2. I thought I posted this earlier today...but I guess I never actually clicked "Post." LOL The occasion that brought them together is sad, but it's good to see them together. It's a shame FP couldn't make it. It would have also been nice to see Janet make it and all the bad blood be washed away. If anything will do it, it's this loss.
  3. Dray (or Krazy Drayz) from Das EFX just leaked a new song called "Believe" for an upcoming project. Not only the song dope, but he samples some of FP's classic interview dialogue in the being and the end. I think a lot of people here are going to love this song. When he shared the song on his Facebook, I suggested he get the 'Prince on the remix. Let's hope he reaches out to him. :) Let this bless your ears... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yATDjNrzMU&feature=youtu.be
  4. I'd love to have something like that, but since shows are protected by copyright laws, very few of them get any of them documented. I have some footage of my favorite shows, but the quality is terrible/embarrassing. None of those are my videos are mine, I simply dug around on YouTube to find them...lol I'm mostly focused in theater, but I'm always interested in film. They are two completely different animals. 99% of everything shooting in my area is indie stuff, which typically have lackluster stories. I haven't a fan of those movies when I see them, doing it locally certainly isn't very motivating. Thanks for the feedback!
  5. I just wanted to share my acting website with you guys. After it was pointed out that you've never heard me before in the post about Jeff's b-day, it prompted me to share it. You can't REALLY hear me on my website, but there is a short video for The Church of Diminishing Marginal Returns. I actually debated putting it up because it was the first rehearsal that we were off-book and since I was in another show at the time, I didn't really have confidence behind the lines. I'm using a high pitch voice for a very goodie-goodie character, so it's nothing like me, but it's something. I actually kind of hate it. Maybe in the future I'll have some more performance footage up. I hate watching myself, so I'm always hesitant to do it. Anyways, the website is really just in place so I can put it on my acting resume. That way a director who doesn't know me can reference it and find out more about me and see some pictures of my performances (since some people lie about their experience). I take my acting seriously, yet I don't have any professional training. I think the website is an honest reflection of the kind of performer I am. I do have good following in the area, but I don't see people checking my website for updates...lol http://adamjblackstock.wix.com/actor I'm not a webdesigner, so it is basic...and on a free website, but let me know if you have any suggestions.
  6. I didn't even get to think about the video today....hopefully tomorrow. I'm not 100% sure I'm even capable of getting a video up, but I'm gonna try. I definitely want to be a part of this. I think everyone's videos look great and I think it'll really surprise Jeff. Hopefully he's share it with FP. Kev, my video won't have music to it, so I'll get with you about the music that plays under it. It would make sense if it's something that fits what I talk about, but I'm not sure I'll actually go that route...lol. We'll see. Tim, how did you know I was probably going to talk about Homebase? LOL Brakes, I was debating trying to shoot my video on my sofa or in my music room. I was thinking the music room, because the background would show that I'm a big music fan and might be interesting to Jazzy. I thought about even placing JJ+FP easter eggs all throughout the background....but after seeing how great yours looked on the sofa, I'm starting to have second thoughts. One last idea. How are we capping the video off at the very end? If we don't have anything that kinda ties it all together, would it look good if everyone did an alternate take simply saying "Happy birthday, Jeff" where they could quickly be played back to back, giving it a feeling of unity? Another idea would be to split up the screen so we are all on it at the end saying it in unison. If we do that, we need someone to share a video here so we can all say it a similar way so that that it sounds like we are are all saying it together. I imagine that might be an editing nightmare though.
  7. Kel just shared this. It looks like he has some good things lined up. Some of it's music related and one of the projects looks like a fun indie movie that's loaded with legends. http://kelspencer.fanbridge.com/campaigns/show.php?id=1055833&sid=89210721
  8. Nice videos. I've only every used my camera for photography, but I'm gonna try to set some time aside tomorrow and see if I can't submit my own video.
  9. I'm pretty sure I never knew that PM Dawn video existed. Man, I miss new music from them. While they were unpredictable in the changes they'd made with each album, it always made sense. One of the most original groups in all of music. The quality of their later music is just as great as their early stuff. And now for something completely different...lol EMINEM - I'm Shady The Slim Shady LP (1999)
  10. I saw this ages ago when it came out! Wow, thanks for bringing back a forgotten jam.
  11. These are genuine but also very fun. I like that you are taking the goal seriously but not taking yourself seriously. I hope something comes of it. Welcome to the board!
  12. Don't you like it when the good guys win? Thank God! Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind if they got permission to release this as a free mixtape, but to release an Aaliyah album that is remixed and doctored by new kids who are all about commercial sounds and not having a tie to her and her music, that would have been disgusting.
  13. Noah '40' Shebib Pulled Plug on Aaliyah Album "I just wanted nothing to do with it," Shebib says of "politics" and bad press surrounding posthumous project. By Latifah Muhammad Posted: 01/08/2014 10:23 AM EST The public never got to hear the end results of Drake's and Noah "40" Shebib's work on a new Aaliyah album, and now we finally know why. Shebib walked from the project because of all the bad press and "politics" surrounding the release, he said in a new Vibe.com interview. Aaliyah's family members — Jomo and Barry Hankerson of her former label home Blackground Records — approached Shebib to helm the posthumous album. "Her uncle and cousin came to me and said if she was around she'd want you to do this," he shared. Drizzy wasn't attached initially, Shebib explained. "I’ve been obsessed with Aaliyah forever, and I know Drake has his relationship with her. But that opportunity was mine," said the producer. "Drake said, 'Can I do it with you?' and I was like, 'Of course, we’ll do it together.’” In 2012, Drake confirmed that he was executive producing the release, leading to less-than-excited responses from Timbaland and Missy Elliott. The story snowballed, with Timbo essentially laughing off the idea of Drizzy working on Aaliyah's music. The Timbo factor, and more, ended things for Shebib. "The world reacting to Drake’s involvement so negatively, I just wanted nothing to do with it,” he admitted. "That was a very sad experience for me. I was naïve to the politics surrounding Aaliyah’s legacy and a bit ignorant to Timbaland’s relationship and everybody else involved and how they’d feel. Tim said to me 'Don’t stop, make the album.' I think that was Tim taking the position of, 'I’m not going to stop you. If you’re not going to do it, that’s your decision.' But ultimately, I wasn’t comfortable and didn’t like the stigma." In the end, words from Aaliyah's mother pretty much lampooned the entire attempt. "We released ['Enough Said'], but I was seven songs deep," Shebib explained. "[Aaliyah's] mother saying, 'I don't want this out' was enough for me. I walked away very quickly." 14. Is he still working with Ayah? Ayah changed her name to Merna last year, and from the song or 2 that I've heard, she's gone edgy and abandoned her original sound (it's not as good).
  15. I don't follow him that closely. I certainly like he's 90's stuff better, but I like this. Granted only 2 or 3 songs might make it on one of my mixes, but free music that isn't LIl' Wayne/Drake/Rick Ross/Icky Minaj is free music that isn't LIl' Wayne/Drake/Rick Ross/Icky Minaj.
  16. He just dropped a new album...AND IT'S FREE. I know some of you will appreciate. http://www.okayplayer.com/news/del-the-funky-homosapien-iller-than-most-free-ep-stream.html#.UsmbFfuvxlQ Del The Funky Homosapien- ‘Iller Than Most’ LP Stream To continue with the good tidings of the new year, Del The Funky Homosapien dropped some heat on us with this free (ninety-nine) LP Iller Than Most, described by the man himself as “futuristic and fun- but still on some Hiphop ****.” 2013 was a busy year for the endlessly bountiful West Coast icon, getting back with band Deltron 3030 and dropping not one, but two LPs, including a one-off for the legendary Hieroglyphics crew. And if this stands as any implication to what he has in store for us this year, we can all look forward to another fruitful year from the Funky Homosapien. Go ahead and get the year started right, stream Del’s Iller Than Most LP below.
  17. To be honest, I'm not surprised that he hasn't said anything yet. Here's my reasons; like it was mentioned above, he hasn't completely embraced social media. That would be the fastest way for him to get something out there. Secondly, he's is/was in Dubai. He's not in familiar surroundings and probably wants to say something when he's in his element at home, when reality has set in. Additionally, all of the focus is on him since the show mostly focused on his character and because he is the most successful of the cast members. Lastly, FP's never had to deal with a headlining death before. No one knows how he grieves. He may be really shaken and doesn't want to share it his thoughts, words, and feelings just yet. Let's be honest, James is a huge part of his success and abilities. FP came on that TV show not knowing anything about professional acting. James' insight and assistance made "Willywood." In the early days, James could have been like "I'm way too good for this role, this show, and to be playing second fiddle to this rapper"...but he wasn't. I imagine a lot of things are buzzing in his head right now and he wants to make sure that what he says/shares, will be the best statement he can put together.
  18. It's funny how in an age where old school Hip-Hop is something most new music fans don't even know exists, and a time when most people download songs instead of buying CDs, artists/groups like Eric B. + Rakim, Pete Rock + CL Smooth, Run DMC, Marley Marl, Biz Markie, and Jungle Brothers have all gotten deluxe or re-release treatment to their albums. There's certainly no reason groups like JJ+FP shouldn't get the same treatment. Especially since they'd like sell better than most of the groups/artists I just mentioned.
  19. Nothing too new from this article from MTV, but I still wanted to share it... http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1719768/james-avery-death-reaction.jhtml

  22. Actually, he dropped it on or around Christmas, but for some reason, I just saw it. Why a new song/video and then a video talking about stepping away from music within the same week?!?
  23. Apprently my comment didn't stick to this thread. I noticed when Alfonso broke the news on Facebook and Twitter around 1pm today. My heart sank. James Avery is recognized on our favorite sitcom, but there was so much more to his gift than Uncle Phil. I wouldn't be taking any liberties when I say his is literally one of the best actors of all time. I haven't seen ALL of his work, but I've seen some of it and FPofBA was only a small part of his capabilities. While we saw some sincere and comical moments on the show, the man could pull off a wide range of characters. I remember how mind-blown I was when I found out he also did the voice of the Shredder on the 80's/90's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons. He played a similar character in Sparks, but I loved that show as well. Beyond all of that, he seemed to be incredibly humble and giving. He was probably the best actor on the FBofBA, but wasn't condescending those with fewer credentials. He's an icon and his legacy will certainly always be around due to the many projects he was involved in. My prayers go out to his friends and family who are affected at this time.
  24. Apparently FP and Jada kicked with Maxwell and Tyrese for Tyrese's birthday while in Dubai. His connection with others in urban music is so strong...what's the hold up on music. He's got two of the greatest modern R&B/Soul artists in his company!!
