  1. I love it....he rocked it at the Grammys!! Oh hey, Hip-Hop. Welcome back! LL Cool J, Grammys 2013: Rapper Releases Song He Performed at Award Show LL Cool J closed the 2013 Grammy Awards with Chuck D, Tom Morello, Travis Barker and Z-Trip. Now he's releasing the song he performed. "Whaddup" features all the aforementioned and is from Uncle L's new album, Authentic, due in stores May 7. Because CBS cut the performance off during the Grammys, it was hard to tell whether or not the song was any good. Younger fans were probably scratching their heads -- why is the guy from NCIS rapping? -- while old folks were likely glad to see hip-hop finally get some shine. But sometimes it's best to hear a new song removed from the celebratory manner in which it's revealed. That said, "Whaddup" is actually pretty good. But don't let us sway you. Take a listen and let us know what you think. Should these guys hang it up or keep rocking? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h6uXhgMIU0&feature=player_embedded#!
  2. I have a feelin' FP has been taking the Justin Timberlake approach to music. He's quietly working and all of a sudden we are going 2 get a single with an album to come a couple months later.
  3. MY EYES HAVE FINALLY SEEN IT!!! I believe this only aired once. When I was 12, I remember KNOWING that a JJ+FP video was going to play during an Olympic event and I missed it. My friend saw it and said "they made a new video for a new song." Even though he had Homebase on cassette (I was jealous because his had the Mr. Lee Remix of "Ring My Bell" and mine didn't) I thought he was just mixed up and that they played another video for an album cut. As I think back, I was at his house when MTV first aired the "Ring My Bell" and "Things That U Do" video so I guess I should have known better. A few years later I found out about "Higher Baby" and was in denial that they would have made a video for a non-single compilation song. I heard there was a video for it over 10 years ago but was still slightly skeptical. I can't believe I've finally seen it. I only wish there was less NBA footage...and more JJ+FP...and that the audio synced up.
  4. I like that she's mature enough to pick and choose things this way. To be honest, I'm a fan of Annie and I don't know that it needs to be done again...at least not with Jay-Z involved. If it was going to be done, I think it would be a great vehicle for Willow though and she would probably be great in it (that's coming from a critical person who has done the musical twice). She's only one year older than the character. I find it hard seeing any of the kids making a serious music career out of random downloads, YouTube videos, and mixtapes. I think they have they have talent (tho' Jaden's uninspired vocal deliver is tired to me) but they don't seem to be trying to make actual albums.
  5. I've never seen the "Boom! Shake The Room" performance. I remember on one of his "Props To Hip-Hop" episodes, he showed a short clip of it along with other legendary artists. That's how I even found out about the performance. it was the only Code Red performance they made together on the show.
  6. I think this is my first time hearing this as well. The crazy thing, I loved the Arsenio Hall show and watched it almost every night...but I NEVER saw JJ+FP on the show together. I'd catch it when Jazzy was cuttin' and scratchin' with the band and I'd catch FP on solo interviews, but I never caught them on the show together. I think they were on Arsenio together 4 times through it's 5 year run.

  9. Yo! I've never seen this!!! So dope! Love it!
  10. First off, I could hardly read that. Jamie Foxx occasionally goes too far with his comments, but it's hard to imagine him dissing FP. The whole thing is strange.
  11. DAMITA - Won't Be Afraid (self-titled) 2000 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2y-IqOhbPw I'm a fan of her 2008 album...I just found out about this one.
  12. I'm really looking forward to this series. I love the first episode. I'm hoping FP pops up somewhere in this...maybe the recording of his verse from the Summertime mixtape?
  13. Well, I never really met her. But I heard she's a fun girl...a real go-getter. Seriously tho,' I don't ever remember there being any news about this. If he had pressed charges against her, I'm sure it would have gotten news coverage.

  17. So So Def has always been one of the tightest labels EVER to me. They took Hip-Hop and R-N-B to the mainstream in a big way with quality artists. For fans of the So So Def family, past and present, check this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFTh6cJ0dRc&feature=youtu.be
  18. ONE LOVE w/ MARKY MARK - Irie Vibe Fear Soundtrack (Unreleased) (1996) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o63CP4iO-GY
  19. This is a bit of a sleeper. Musically there's not much too it. Jaden (again) has the bored/lazy vocal delivery. He gets a bit of a rhythm but it doesn't stick around for long Willow is about as much presence vocally as this boring "beat" will allow.
  20. It's a dumb idea. It's so dumb that I'm challenged to understand why people think it's a good idea...other than greedy companies that will profit from it. FP has said many times "zero chance." It pains me that he'd consider it without seeing a miracle of a script that almost makes the idea of a sequel tolerable. The bottom line is; the earth doesn't get attacked by aliens twice. To pursue that idea tarnishes the original. The only thing that gives me an ounce of fear that FP would do it is that he's done moves like Hancock, which I can't imagine were that good on paper when he agreed to do it.
  21. That's where my CD single and my 12" single is from. I'm pretty sure that's the only place it was properly released; which would explain its chart position.
  22. Well, while it's done in the tradition of the JJ+FP song, it isn't a song that was promoting an album. Keep in mind that And In This Corner... had relatively lackluster sales. So having them push out a new single right on the heels of that album was probably seen as a dangerous move. That soundtrack and single was released overseas as a remix titled "Yo! Home To Bel-Air." Since the US is probably the most finicky and critical music audience in the world, I'm guess that's why they only released it overseas.
  23. Happy New Year, everyone!! I definitely feel like I'm in a good place to start 2013. 2012 was filled with some great achievements but also great loss. I'm fortunate to have the day off to just chill and get my vision for 2013 in place. Resolutions aren't taken as seriously as they should be, but I wish in this new year that we set goals and achieve them...that we find out how to make ourselves better people see ourselves become that.
