I didn't really go out of my way...this video was dropped in front of me and thought a few people might enjoy it. I couldn't believe someone would act this way in front of a judge. I just thought the awareness that the person he is in real life is just as awful as the music he makes should be shown. In this sense, he actually "keeps it real." Quite a feat for an "artist" of his caliber. If you can think of a more accurate way to title this thread, I'll open to suggestions.

"THROWBACK THURSDAY" Contest on Facebook
JumpinJack AJ replied to BigWillieFan01's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yes, I got it of Ebay. Forget how long I had it...but when I bought my house, it was the 1st pic I hung...lol. I had been watching it for years and eventually there was one that was only $10. It's 24x36. The Homebase one is smaller and square so there's more frame tucked behind the Code Red one. If I pulled it out more you can see the Homebase, Summertime, and Ring My Bell covers. I'd like to get "The Things You Do" in there two but I don' wanna buy a$12 single PLUS shipping just to fill more of the frame...lol. And I'm not taking the insert out of the one I already have. -

AcE feat. Jaden & Willow Smith: 'Find You Somewhere' Video!
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Will Smith Movies
I love this song. First and foremost, the beat is DOPE! It's a legit club beat...which so much better than the watered down dance pop we're often stuck hearing in top 40. It reminds me of a fresh version of 1996-1998 club music. I like how Jaden is comfortable on the track but as always, I wish he'd liven up his performance. Willow continues to be this wiser-than-her-years-artsy genius. The visuals, the color, and the dancing make it a great video. -

Yeah, most of the time he has the lazy approach to his vocals. That's what what the top 40 rappers do so it probably affects his style.

Okay...the beat is DOPE. I like the old school vibe I picked up from the visuals as well.

Trackmasters on working with Will and others
JumpinJack AJ replied to gosia's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I believe what they were saying was "What is Will Smith...to Hip-Hop in 1996?" Keep in mind he officially retired in 1995, Code Red only made a ripple in the Hip-Hop world three years prior. Certainly they know of JJ+FP's importance to Hip-Hop, but after he separated himself from music for so long "Will Smith" was strictly a movie and TV star. Sure Hip-Hop and JJ+FP took up the most of his career but really distanced himself from that. While "Will Smith" was relevant to acting, the name itself was not worth much in Hip-Hop due to his own choices. I'm not disagreeing with there being a certain amount of ignorance to what is being said. After all, they are calling themselves out for the mind frame they were in and ended up working together extensively. It makes me wonder where their relationship stands now. -

JILL SCOTT-CRATES: REMIX FUNDAMENTALS VOL 1 and 2
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I haven't listened to it in awhile because I've been preparing for my show, but I really love the album. Most of the remixes are club remixes, which SOUNDS like it could get a little boring, but I personally love it. They are different enough and they aren't the kind of club mixes that are all about just making noise rather than music. I think any semi-opened Jill Scott fan will like it. I was upset to see that they delayed the release of the second. There was supposed to be a total of three. I guess Hidden Beach changed their plans or wanted to see a little more success behind the 1st one. The thing is, nobody really knew about it. After all, did ANYONE other than myself on this board buy it?- 3 replies

The American election
JumpinJack AJ replied to Simon Lerkot Berglind's topic in Caught in the Middle
About a year ago, I watched something on TV that compared the fall of Rome to America. It's crazy how it looks like we are setting ourselves up to do the same. With us pulling back on war, it's undoing some of those things. -
Trackmasters on working with Will and others
JumpinJack AJ replied to gosia's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I don't think this is insulting to FP. I think he is just being brutally honest in the interview. His way of conveying the story is the best but I feel that he's calling them and Coko out for their small minded approach to the track. SWV gave JJ+FP mad love when they did "I Wanna Rock" on the AMA's. I remember them groovin' to the performance so I can't imagine Coko being THAT against the idea of the song. Why would she even record it if she didn't like him? -
The American election
JumpinJack AJ replied to Simon Lerkot Berglind's topic in Caught in the Middle
I must admit; I don't follow politics much. I would probably follow them closer if there was a presidential candidate that I was excited about...but there isn't. Traditionally I lean towards republican in the sense that more of their values line up closer with mine. At the same time, democrats traditionally claim to have plans to improve the lives of the lower and middle class. I don't have any faith an anyone running. I feel that president should be elected and that questions be asked during the election. The president's job would them be to carry out the peoples' desire rather than come up with their own plan. For example, Obamacare has no right to take my money and put it toward some slutty teenager's abortion. I'm often furious about how things are changed for the sake of being changed...NOT BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY LEAD TO IMPROVEMENT. I may make a lot of people mad by saying this, but the US frustrates me in the sense that laws are twisted and times are changing so that people can do and say whatever they want. That isn't real freedom. That's just freedom to live ignorantly and irresponsibly. This country was built on the idea of religious freedom with Biblical/moral principles. As we stray further and further from this principles, things just get worse...but since any change is supposedly good, those in political power simply pursue change in vain. I will be doing more research on the candidates. I've heard some of the things the main republican party is saying and they aren't sounding very intelligent. At the same time, I fail to see any real good that Obama has really accomplished. I've read some articles on him and all I've seen is conflicting news. I hold on to hope that things can turn around...but without discipline, who knows what will happen. This'll probably be the only time I post in this thread...but I'm curious what others have to say. -
I agree with what you are saying, but there's 2 limitations with MIB. 1) The MIB don't really have a personal life. 2) With the movies being an hour and a half (or less), there's not a lot of room for development.

Hip-Hop Mogul Chris Lighty Dead of Apparent Suicide
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jazzy Julie's topic in Caught in the Middle
I read this earlier and it really upset me. I didn't know much about Chris (other than the information in the various articles like this online. I just know he is responsible for a lot of Hip-Hop acts over the years. After all, BEP is legendary. He was one of LL's right hand men. I know his divorce must have been tough and his financial situations must of been stressful, but that stuff DOES get better. Very sad news. Rest in peace.
