  1. 'Straight Outta Compton': F. Gary Gray To Direct NWA Biopic The Huffington Post | By Christopher Rosen Posted: 04/11/2012 8:27 am Updated: 04/11/2012 11:03 am "Straight Outta Compton" has found a director. It was announced on Tuesday that F. Gary Gray had beaten out names like John Singleton ("Boyz N The Hood"), George Tillman Jr. ("Notorious") and Elgin James ("Little Birds") for the chance to direct the N.W.A. bio film being set up at New Line. Like Tillman's "Notorious" -- a wildly underrated classic about Notorious B.I.G. and not the Alfred Hitchcock thriller -- "Straight Outta Compton" will likely have a "Behind the Music" feel; the rap group N.W.A. (which stands for N----- With Attitude) rose to fame in the late '80s, but suffered the usual array of musical meltdowns and internal conflict. No word yet on casting, but expect the process to be interesting: N.W.A. counted current superstars Ice Cube and Dr. Dre among its members, as well as Eazy-E, the group founder who died of AIDS-related complications in 1995. Ice Cube is a producer on "Straight Outta Compton." Gray could be the perfect man to direct this material. He made his feature directorial debut on the Ice Cube comedy "Friday," and also directed Cube's video for "It Was a Good Day." Gray's involvement means that he won't direct "Captain America 2" for Marvel. He was in the running for that job along with Joe and Anthony Russo ("Community") and George Nolfi ("The Adjustment Bureau"). With that film scheduled for an April 4, 2014 release date, expect some announcement soon.
  2. I only saw Total Recall once waaaaaay back in the day. I remember really liking it. I'm not crazy about all these reboots and remakes. It looks like everyone who never saw the original will love this. I'm not sure how others will feel.
  3. L+F dropped during a really dark time for me and lasted all the way through a turn around. Willennium did the same thing. Since I usually listen to his/their albums regularly for a very long time, they really do serve as the soundtrack for those times. Those albums brighten my day...especially when they were new. I'm believing for some really good times ahead...so a new song or 2 would really be nice. :)
  4. Say what?! It was just posted on a major news site on the day I posted it. However, the article I cut and pasted wasn't the first one I saw.
  5. Wow, those guys are idiots. It kinda makes me wonder why they were born.
  6. Where have you been? They already confirmed that they've worked on some new stuff.
  7. NICK CANNON w/ SLIM (112) - My Wife Unreleased/Promo (2006) This was back with Kanye made legit Hip-Hop beats. I swear the album Nick was working on during Wild N' Out would have been dope if he dropped it.
  8. VH1 gave "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" the Pop Up Video treatment. If want to know some random, trivial stuff about the video, click the link... http://www.vh1.com/video/will-smith/696666/gettin-jiggy-wit-it-pop-up-video.jhtml
  9. Saw this on Billboard.com... Say a prayer for the family... Dr. Dre's Son Found Dead Andre Young Jr., the son of rapper/producer Dr. Dre, was found dead in his Woodland Hills, Calif., home on Saturday (Aug. 23), according to Dr. Dre's representative. He was 20 years old. An unresponsive Young was discovered in his bed by his mother on Saturday at around 10:30 A.M. Paramedics were called to the scene, but Young was pronounced dead after their efforts to revive him. His mother told police he'd been out the night before, but returned home Saturday at around 5:30 A.M. A cause of death has not been announced, pending completion of toxicology tests which could take four to six weeks. In a statement, a spokesperson for Dr. Dre said he "is mourning the loss of his son. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."
  10. whoa, Whoa, WHOA!! Of all my years of digging and collecting I've never found the "Summertime" instrumental...only DJ Jazzy Jeff Mix Instrumental. After seeing this posted it looks like it was on an import version of the 12" single. Crazy! Unfortunately the only one I can find on line is in poor condition. I will have this some day soon! KATY PERRY + MISSY 'MISDEMEANOR' ELLIOT - Last Friday Night (Remix) Teenage Dream (Complete Confection Edition) (2012)
  11. JENNIFER LOPEZ - Dance Again ? (2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6YTsuRx2XE I like this better than her last hit. Though I could do without Pitbull on the rap.
  12. I hear this new music and it restores my excitement with Hip-Hop. It's been awhile. Thank God for AD and De La.
  13. That new song is great...I love it!! I was just listening to a KL mix the other day and was wondering when he might come back out. I'm happy to hear ex-ATOJ handled the album too. Perfect Summertime music.
  14. In light of the heath issues he's faced over the last few months, Nick Cannon has started a web series called Health Hustle. If anyone wants to read up on it, check the link. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/03/nick-cannon-debuts-ncredible-health-hustle_n_1398637.html?1333437574&icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl12|sec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D148706
  15. I'm not crazy about clicking links that don't have a description. What's that?
  16. I kinda like the song above. I like the rawness and some of the emcees on it. When did it come out? It has a crazy 90's vibe...and I love the neon greenish/yellow FUBU shirt. I had a ton of shirts like that back in the day. BRITT NICOLE + LECRAE - Ready Or Not Gold (2012)
  17. The pix look great! U can tell he was having a ball. Everyone looks generally really happy to be there so it must have been a really special night.
  18. Ah, so it wasn't REALLY a "performance." It was just him hyping the crowed up. Oh well, the energy was tight and it shows that music is very much in the front of his brain.
  19. I had a show last night and couldn't catch the show. Thank God for YouTube and thank God they'll rerun it in a week or so. I can' t wait to see the full performance. Even with that shortly clip, you can see FP had crazy energy, tho' the beat was a little interesting. My interest is definitely sparked.
  20. Yeah, I'm still going to Jim's house to egg it. I think it's funny how Tim replaced Will's name with Jim's...lol.
  21. Once I saw the title of the post, I knew it was an April Fools joke. Jim wrote an article like this a few years ago...identical in some ways. And the parts that are quoted don't really sound like FP...lol. But if I didn't know it was fake, I would have been probably too excited to notice! Someone needs to find Jim's article from years ago. I'd like to see what fake news the people on this board can come up with. Feel free to make it as ridiculous as you want.
  22. Yeah, I went out to WalMart that night so I could pick it up up. I remember just being totally hyped about that album and playing it non-stop. Last night I celebrated by watching the 2005 JJ+FP set on DVD. Everything looked like it was gonna last for awhile but the steam steadily declined after after "Switch" ran its course. It's easily one of the best Hip-Hop albums of that era and even those he's "WILL SMITH," that album didn't stick as long as we wanted. The performances were dope and only God knows why he didn't continue making music for often. Everything about that album said "I'm back to making music regularly and I'm back to staying try to myself rather than letting labels sway me." It was a long time comin,' but it's great to know he's back at music. Here's a pic from the night I picked up L+F...
  23. How long is "awhile"? A few days? A week? 2 weeks? I may not post like crazy because how busy I am but but I'm visiting the board multiples times everyday. With MIB3 starting to kick into high gear, I hope it's not long.
