  1. That cat is amazing! Thanx! His beats are flawless...I especially like the 1st song AND the vocalist on the hook.
  2. Cookie! How are you gonna come up here outta nowhere and leave a random comment?!? WE MISS U!!!
  3. PETE ROCK + CL SMOOTH - Lots of Lovin' Mecca + The Soul Brother (1991) So dope...it just takes me back.
  4. I never heard this before....It's good! It left my wanting a Guru cameo. I can't remember the last time I heard an female emcee that actually made me want to check out more of her music. It was probably over 10 years ago.
  5. PETE ROCK + CL SMOOTH - Da Two Soul Survivor (1998) So dope...haven't listened to this album in YEARS.
  6. I know you are addressing the industry. I'm saying that I think the industry was actually in a great state back then. There's an obvious trend in the quality of music and state of the industry.
  7. JOHNNY GILL - In The Mood Still Winning (2011) Here's a reminder of what what R-N-B should sound like. Thank you Johnny for repping real R-N-B and Maryland to the fullest. :)
  8. This may be a little silly, but I've probably gone back and read this article once every 2 hours all day long...lol. It just makes me happy.
  9. I love Jessie J. I plan on checking out Tony Bennet's new album. DJ JAZZY JEFF + FRESH PRINCE - Brand New Funk He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper (1988)
  10. Yes, Heavy D did recently release a new album...more like and EP. It's good but a few tracks are a bit compromised for today's sound. It's still a good album tho.' I was surprised to see that he gained some of that weight back in his performance. He had a good mix of hits but I hated that he rapped OVER the tracks. I loved the dancing and the throw back feel of the performance. LL's acceptance speech and rhymes was ILL!!! Loved it. The Shady 2.0 Cypher was also dope....and funny. I didn't see the rest of the show on TV because I forgot it was on. I tuned in as LL was being honored.
  11. Nothing about music Hip-Hop and Rap NOW is better than what it was back in the day. Even the few good artists NOW aren't any better than the artists of yesteryear. And I certainly can't see how the industry in the 90's wasn't good. I think it goes way beyond people liking music from when they were younger. There's a new music I like in other genres better than old stuff from the genre. I can't can't image what educated person could like the watered down dance beats, subject-lacking, auto-tuned trash of today MORE than the music of the 90's and even the early 2000's. It's hard to imagine there's a taste for that. I just think people will like whatever gets played...it has nothing to do with quality or or relevance.
  12. I mean, I KNEW this was gonna happen...but it sure feels amazing to read it and see it coming straight from Jazzy's mouth. I'm so freaking excited for this!!!!!!!!
  13. DMX - Last Hope ? (2011) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvoyOmqVYmI This is his best song in YEARS!
  14. The 90's were dope...period. *Albums rarely got shelved *Albums usually got about 3 music videos/singles *Album music got played on the radio *Singles were released featuring remixes, b-sides, instrumentals, etc * Collaborations were an event, not a necessity *Most artists were required to have talent and at least some individuality *Labels stuck behind the artist stronger/longer *Soundtracks! ...nuff said.
  15. Looks good. I'm loving the free mixtapes (even though I had most of them). I LOOOOOOOVE the shirts.
  16. MICHAEL BUBLE - Lost Call Me Irresponsible (2007) Always loooved this song.
  17. ALANA DAVIS - 32 Flavors Blame It On Me (1997)
  18. I think music is be available...but mostly in places like department stores that will carry a variety of things. I don't think it will ever go 100% online-only. I'm all for a healthy music industry but I don't feel that the constant changes are leading to that. It's only gotten worse and worse over the past 10 years. The internet helps indie artists get recognized most easily but I feel that there will also be some corporate force that always assists most of the artists who are popular become/stay popular.
  19. Thanx for posting. I LOVE THIS!! The song is dope and the video is great. I love the color. I don't see J. Cole as FP but I guess the 2nd half of his verse kinda reminded me of "Candy" or something from the BWS era.
  20. Notice I said "worthy of"...meaning there are good songs on this list that could be considered for it. I'm certainly not going to care about the list that much and pull it apart.
  21. Jive was on fire from the mid 80's thru' the mid-90's. DJ Jazzy Jeff + Fresh Prince, KRS-One/Boogie Down Productions, A Tribe Called Quest, Too Short, Aaliyah, R. Kelly, Fu-Schnickens, Shaquille O'Neal, Whodini, Kool Moe Dee, etc...
  22. The shelf life of what happens in the music industry is so short now that it's rare for old music to get proper treatment. If FP has another album like BWS, anything is possible.
  23. DANI STEVENSON - Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo (CD Single) (2002)
