LONDON — Google said Monday it will block U.K. users from watching music videos on its popular video-sharing site YouTube after negotiations with Britain's music royalty-collecting body broke down. Google said it would begin blocking British users starting Monday night. The Internet titan said it knew the move would cause "significant disappointment." But it said its hand was forced by PRS for Music, which it said is asking for royalties that would cause Google to lose money every time a video was played on YouTube. "Our previous license from PRS for Music has expired, and we've been unable so far to come to an agreement to renew it on terms that are economically sustainable for us," Google said in a statement. Until a solution is found, it added, "we will be blocking premium music videos in the UK that have been supplied or claimed by record labels." PRS for Music, which collects money on behalf of writers and publishers worldwide, said it was outraged by Google's move. "Google has told us they are taking this step because they wish to pay significantly less than at present to the writers of the music on which their service relies, despite the massive increase in YouTube viewing," the group said in a statement. Neither group revealed how much money is at stake in their negotiations. YouTube has become an increasingly popular destination for record labels squeezed by declining sales for compact discs. The website has deals with three of the four major record labels but some rights-holders have balked at their cut of the advertising revenue. In December, Warner Music pulled all of its music from YouTube, saying the payments it received did not fairly compensate the label or its artists and songwriters. It was not clear how long the music videos would stay blocked. Both PRS for Music and Google said they hoped their dispute could be resolved quickly. The video Leona Lewis's Bleeding Love, licensed by Sony BMG Music Entertainment U.K. Ltd., which has garnered more than 83 million hits, was still visible from the U.K. late Monday. Ive just tried it now tho, i typed in switch and it comes up as this is not available in your country, but then i tried other switch videos and found one that worked. This is a stupid move, youtube is great advertisment for artists.

I was serious (well, I don't really think about that song). I don't see why I can't bring something lighthearted to the table though. I've learned that negativity breeds fast. A positive message is needed. No i know what u said was meant as serious, i was just talking about the link. i wasnt disagreeing with your post at all.

Singer to play greatest hits in the capital Michael Jackson is set to play a residency at the London O2 Arena later this year. The initial summer dates of the residency are set to be announced on Thursday (March 5), reports Sky News. Further dates are expected to be added following the initial announcement and depending on fan demand. Jackson may appear at a press conference at the venue to make the announcement. The shows are expected to be the only dates he will play this year. http://www.nme.com/news/michael-jackson/43175 i hope this is true. i need to see 3 people live in my life MJ, JJFP and TLC. Looks like Michael is the most likely one to come true. I bet the tickets will be way expensive tho.

Rhianna & Chris Brown Back Together
Jazzy Julie replied to Da Brakes's topic in Caught in the Middle
If all the stories we've heard are true, hes only gonna do it again. If he has a problem that bad that he can do that much damage to her face, its not like he can change in 3 weeks. Rihanna needs to get herself to some self defence classes, or just not go back to him would be better. -
"Today, I was in my room and I drew a Harry Potter lightning bolt on my forehead in eyeliner because it cheers me up. Then some friends came over randomly, so we went out to get yogurt, and when I got back I realized the lightning bolt was still there. I'm in college. FML" haha. im not gonna post some of the others i liked, they're a bit rude lol.

I like him bcoz hes a fantastic entertainer in whatever he does. His music inspires me, it makes me laugh, dance and think. Like others said hes very charismatic, and unlike most hollywood stars he seems like a really nice guy. Instead of walking past fans he signs autographs, poses for pics and talks to them. And his fans are of all ages and races all across the world. and as a woman i have to say hes the hottest 40 year old ive ever seen. :wickedwisdom:
