Legendary music pioneer Quincy Jones is back planning a new album, called Q: Soul Boss Nostra. He will have a little help by his friends on the album, with confirmed collaborations with Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, T-Pain, Ludacris, Usher, John Legend, Talib Kweli, Mary J. Blige, Akon, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Robin Thicke, Wyclef Jean, Q-Tip, Three 6 Mafia, David Banner, BeBe Winans, Scott Storch, Mervyn Warren and Jermaine Dupri. To name a few. Looking more like an All-Star line up they each got to remake a song from Jone's vast catalog that spans over six decades.
"Each artist picked a song that really resonated with them for different reasons - some of them having a connection because they remembered their parents playing the track when they were growing up," Jones said “I am honored that everyone wanted to be a part of this celebration of these songs. They all made them their own, and knocked them out of the park."
This will be Quincy's third collaboration album. He released his first one in 1989 called Back on the Block which featured artists like Ray Charles, Chaka Khan, Big Daddy Kane, Ice-T, Prince and others. Then in 1995 Qunicy released Q's Juke Joint which featured LL Cool J, Dizzy Gillespie, Stevie Wonder, Patti Austin, Sarah Vaughn, Gloria Estefan, Kid Capri, Funkmaster Flex and others.
The first single from the album will be Akon's remake of Strawberry Letter 23 originally a hit for The Brothers Johnson in 1977. Q: Soul Boss Nostra will hit stores everywhere early Summer on Interscope Records.
