  1. Kanye West - "Monster" (F/ Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Bon Iver) The Bottom Line Bouncy and playful, rowdy and boastful, Kanye's "Monster" is a monster. Pros * Kanye's delivery has improved * Jay-Z beats your face in with an iron-laden flow * Bon Iver adds some flavor Cons * Some of the guest rhymes are forgettable Description * First installment in Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music Friday series * First song to feature Bon Iver, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Nicki Minaj * First rap song to feature the word "sarcophagus" Guide Review - Kanye West - "Monster" (F/ Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Bon Iver) In many ways, "Monster" is about growth and improvement. Jay-Z has grown better at the art of aiming a singular missile at multiple targets. Kanye has improved his mic presence and delivery over the years. And Nicki Minaj has stepped up her flow-flip gimmicks. "Do the rap and the track, triple double, no assist," Kanye states on the self-produced "Monster." He then proceeds to flip multi-syllabic rhymes as if they're going out of fashion, rhyming "on top of this" with "sarcophagus" and "esophagus" with "a swallowship." "Everybody wanna know what my Achilles heel is," Jay spits. "Love - I dont get enough of it. All I get is these vampires and blood suckers. All I get is these rappers I made millionaires, milling about, spilling their feelings in the air." Who's in Jay's crosshairs? Take your pick from Cam'ron to Beanie Sigel. After a few spins, I stared at my iTunes and wondered if it's possible to sonically excise Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross from "Monster." Nicki Minaj actually starts off strong but can't close the deal. She throws up her hands and leans on that gimmicky voice of hers as a crutch the rest of the way. It reminds me of something my cat brought home but couldn't be bothered to kill. Jay's verse is easily the best. It's not even debatable. But Jay's hearing Ye's footsteps behind him, as Ye drops some of his coldest rhymes in a while. (I apologize for not mentioning Rick Ross in the review. I forgot he was on the song.) http://www.rapbasement.com/audio/kanye-west-ft-jay-z-rick-ross-nicki-minaj-monster.html HERE IS THE SONG.
  2. T.I. and Tiny Arrested on Drug Charges Newlyweds T.I. and Tiny were busted for possession of a controlled substance Wednesday night. According to the NY Post, the couple was arrested on the suspicion of methamphetamine and marijuana. T.I. is on probation, so this is not a good look for him. The couple was released after posting a $10,000 bail. Update: TMZ is reporting that the probation office is in the process of determining what happened and will make a recommendation regarding T.I. when they have all the facts. If officials determine that T.I. violated his probation, he could be back behind bars to serve some serious prison time. Meanwhile, T.I.'s probation officer has asked him to return to Atlanta. http://rap.about.com/b/2010/09/02/t-i-and-tiny-arrested-on-drug-charges.htm Thats what i call a honeymoon gone bad.. If he goes to jail for this his new album will change names to "King Re-Caged"
  3. Lauryn Hill Close to Releasing New Album Get excited. Get very excited. Lauryn Hill is readying her new, yet-to-be-titled album for a release soon. There's not a lot of specifics right now, but L'Boogie told MTV News that she's getting closer to finishing the LP. The only thing that seems certain for now is that she doesn't plan on doing many, if any, collaborations on her new album. "I have respect for what people do," Hill said. "I also like to hear the eclectics, I like to hear the mixture. There's a lot of different creative energies out there right now. I respect the different sounds that I'm hearing. It's been such a long time since I've gotten my voice and my ideas [out]. In terms of collaborations, that's not even something I've been thinking about per se. I'm happy that people are still making music. That we still have a platform with which to make music. It's gonna be interesting to see what the future holds." C'mon, Lauryn, just say what you really think: 90% of new music sucks lemon balls. Rap.about.com lol, I love Lauryn. I hope she comes back hard!

  9. I dont think he sells that much because he is white. The guy is talented, has a great record label, promotion, reputation, and respect all over the hip hop world. There are a lot of hip hop artists that are white and do not sell anything.
  10. But I agree with most of what u said there. Thats what makes an album a classic. Its not just sales or a few people saying it is great..
  11. thats a bold statement AJ. I believe the early 2000's have some classic albums like Nas and Outkast.
  12. Maybe u can check his schedule and find out if he is gonna be playing near from ur city sometime soon..
  13. In the beginning it looks bad, but then it turns out to be a great performance like always.
