I want peace on Earth. But I haven't been very good this year, so I doubt I'll get it.

The rest of the next gen consoles have hit the US

Over Thanksgiving I finally got a chance to put a significant amount of time into my Wii. Oh man, Excite Truck is a phenomenally good game! The sense of speed and the feeling of being one turn away from mayhem is great. The controls are straight on, twisting the wiimote to turn and control your jumps. While it's not as nice as sit-down arcade cabinet's controls, I like it a lot better than the commercial steering wheels that they make for consoles. A lot of reviewers have complained that the game is too short, that it feels more like a tech demo than a game. It's true, it's a very short game. For me though, that's a plus. I find that most games last too long for me to play them to the end, so the shortness of Excite Truck is a nice change. There isn't a whole lot of variety in the tracks (not a lot of distinct areas, not a lot of tracks), but I enjoyed going back and re-racing them to get a better score to unlock different things like new trucks. Over all, I've had a tremendous amount of fun playing this game. If you like arcadey racing games, I highly recommend giving it a try. And so ends this unrequested review by Schnazz. :) -
Happy thanksgiving!

Yea, I got Super Mario World. They only have about 10 or so games on it right now, the original Sonic and Zelda, and the Super NES version of Sim City are the ones that looked interesting to me. They seemed over priced though... I think it was $5 - $8 for most of them with Super Mario World costing $10. It's capitalism man, the American way. :) I don't think that many people resold their PS3's, the resales where just hyped. I think there was something like 2,000 sales of preorders, compared to the 10's of thousands of preorders out there. Right now there's about 20,000 total hits on a PS3 search on ebay, (I doubt all of which are systems) compared to the 200,000 PS3's released. I do find it funny that Friday there where many PS3's going on ebay for 3000-4000 and today they're going for around a thousand. (which is only, what, a 50% markup) The hype of the PS3 has definitely died down a lot. The people camping out for the PS3 really went about it the wrong way. The folks I know who got a PS3 had to wait inline for about an hour to pre-order because they checked out the places ahead of time to see where it would be easiest to get one. I didn't pre-order my Wii, but I didn't have to camp out to get one. I called around and found a couple of places that where doing a lottery system on them, my name got drawn at one of them. I did have to hang out in the break room of a store for 4 hours after they drew my name. But I took work with me so I ended up getting payed for that time waiting anyway. -
Both the PS3 and the Wii are now available in the US. Or at least they where for about 30 seconds. Around where I live they where all sold out well before the official release time. I got a Wii and several games, Zelda, Excite Truck, and Monkey Ball. As a die hard Nintendo fan all I can say is wow, it's different, very different, and it takes some getting used to. Of those three games, and the Wii Sports, my favorite so far is definitely Excite Truck. There's something just fun about twisting your controller around in the air to drive your truck around. Monkey Ball makes really good use of the new controller, it plays basically like one would expect, tilt the controller and you tilt the world. The problem for me though is that I was never good at those tilt puzzles. Wii Sports I think is what is the most different of the games, really not like anything I've ever played. My arm got tired after playing it a while. Most of the sports where pretty natural, but it took a few before I really got the hang of it. Boxing was the most difficult for me, felt really odd at first. After a few rounds I think I started to get the hang of it, but I still don't think I really have it figured out. And Zelda, well that was basically Zelda. Anyway, did anyone else get one of the new consoles?

Audacity of Hope - Barack Obama A good book, even if you don't like the politician. It looks at current politics in the U.S. Different issues and possible solutions to the problems. I'd recommend it to anyone, but anyone with an interest in Obama as a politician should definitely read it.

Jay-Z's 'Kingdom Come' Leaked on the Internet
Schnazz replied to fan 4ever's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'll say it, he's a bad rapper. listen to minority report and then say that You must be kidding. I did as you said and gave it a listen, and I say again, he's a bad rapper. His flow on that song is horrible, I hope that the leaked version of that song isn't what ends up on the final album. -

And the title goes to Silver Tiger, the first Audio Battle Champion! Congratulations! Great battle everyone! It was a lot of fun hearing everyone's rhymes!

lol, you're ahead in the poll, suck it up and be happy! :) I think I understand where Luigie is coming from. There are parts in your rhymes where you play with your voice, kick it high and what not. I thought it came across well though, I liked what you did. This was a tough round to vote on, in my mind you two had opposite areas that you shined in. I thought Silver Tiger hit the flow very well, the way he played with the vocals came across great. I especially liked how the flow on the end of the first verse: "You bumpin' to the gunner's song, shoutin' "Can't we get along?!" -I'm not sayin' your momma's wrong, you special But bad things are what happens when you wrestle -I'd love for this beatdown to continue So just check the rest when we meet at part two" I thought Concept's strength was his lyrics, I loved these lines: "Made the cut by 5 slim minutes Im done in a 6th the time you gotta be kidding Im 3 years younger, 3 times your skill My 3rd final round on this site for Will That’s 3 times the experience in this field of rhyme And it’s the 3rd time I’ve claimed it for mine" A nice play on the original lyrics and it really came together well. In the end I had to go with Silver Tiger, the deciding factor for me was where Concept tried to play with his voice, I thought that really hurt the rhyme. Both in the part where (I think) he was mocking Silver Tiger and at the very end where he shouts "trophy".

camron and dash, way to represent hiphop
Schnazz replied to Etherspinner's topic in Caught in the Middle
The principal broke out "conversating" a minute into it? Maybe part of the problem is that the principal is using words that don't exist. I never thought I would become a word nazi, but come on, he's a principal! He should at least be using real words, not words that came into existence through ignorance. It reminds me of the skits in Big Willie Style. -
How is it that you only care about lyrical content but you don't like story telling?

There's no difference between The Godfather and NWA's music. N.W.A.'s music is telling violent stories, stories of power, stories of an outlaw life, the same thing that The Godfather and Scarface do. Dre had great, original beats for N.W.A. (And Tupac later on) and Ice Cube had (and still has) great flow and witty word play. It's good hip-hop with violent themes, and at the time it was very original. 50, on the other hand, comes off, to me at least, as a poor imitation of that original music. His flow is horrid and his lyrical skill (ignoring content) leaves much to be desired. He doesn't tell stories, he spits lines. You're right, it is now Gangsta gangsta gangsta. But the problem isn't that there's gangsta music, it's that there's nothing but gangsta music. Some is entertaining, but now it's to the point where it's repetitive and predictable. When N.W.A. hit, it was neither boring nor repetitive, it was original.
