I just thought I would share some happy news from my life. My lady just graduated from vet school! Hizzah! She has a few more weeks of things to finish up and then she will officially be a veterinarian and have the title of Dr. I'm enourmously proud of her. :) After 22 years of schooling her pretty little head is worth more than my house! I'm getting every girls dream, I'm marrying a doctor! lol  :Party_fest09: :drunk: :Party_fest09:  :w00t:

Who will have the most longevity? Will Smith or LL Cool J
Schnazz replied to markwinfield1's topic in Caught in the Middle
Jumping into the conversation way late.... You all seem to have taken something pretty different from Mr. Nice Guy than I did. I didn't take it as a diss track at all, I took it to basically mean that the real Will Smith isn't a push over who always turns the other cheak, but he chooses to show the positive aspects of his life to the public. I would disagree with battle rapping being what makes MC's. I think people dig KRS, Nas, Jaz-Z, LL, Kool Moe Dee, 2Pac, and Biggie cuz they made hot music, where/are talented, and brought something unique to the music. Will makes hot music, is talented, and brings many unique things to the music, but look at the tracks that get released as singles. The same old stuff.. "Oh boy, new Will Smith, yet another club song." He blew up with Jiggy but now it's just old hat with Switch, it's not new or interesting anymore. His singles are proof of what some of his worst detracters say about him... bubble gum rap. Of course we all listen to full albums so we know he does much more... But if you just judge an album based off of a single, than why would people judge Will any better than they have been? If you took his singles off of Willenium, B2R, and L&F and then released some of the better tracks, Wills rep would be very different right now, I think he'd be much more respected. -

Interesting question. I think that LL has more love for the game, but Will has more determination. So I'm giving it to Will. -
What's the point of his stunts? There doesn't seem to be any magic, he just seems to sit there. What am I missing?

Freakonomics - This is the economics book that looks at things differently, famous for saying the legalazation of abortion in the 70's accounts for lower crime today. It's an entertaining read, has some interesting ideas, but makes to many assertions with out a lot of evidence for me to really believe too much of it with any conviction.

In light of the frequent arguments that break out on this board, I thought I'd share why I'm trying to be more tolerant of peoples opinions. Perhaps if folks share more coming together experiences, more folks will come together. Who knows, I'm sure no Ghandi. :) I grew up very religious, in a very religious environment. In my late teens and early 20's, I've went away from that. I began seeing ways in which religion was hurting some people. Of course, at one time or another, it get's argued that just about anything can hurt some people, look at the current anti-video game stuff out there. However, organized religion really pushed my buttons, and I became very vocally anti-religion. Two and half years ago I met my Lady, we're currently planning our wedding. I came to learn her religious beliefs along the way and it really bothered me. I, of course, think my views are right and hers are wrong. However, one evening she was telling me about her childhood. She lost her father when she was young, 12 I believe. I, having two living and loving parents, can only imagine how tough that must have been. She told me how she deals with it... She knows her father is in heaven and that she'll see him again some day. That's how she managed to work through such a loss. Seeing such belief in her eyes and how much that thought helps her, it became so clear that religion helps her in a HUGE way. It doesn't matter if I think she's wrong about it, she draws strength and hope from it. That's what's important. So I decided that I needed to stop being upset that she believed in something that I though was foolish and instead be happy that she has something that can give her so much. I'm still very much learning this whole tolerance thing. Matter of fact, just last weekend I caused a fight with her about religion. But I think I'm getting better at it and I hope that I can become understanding and appreciating of all the different views eventually. :) That's the end of my story, do share your own! However, I have no intention of this thread turning into another "I'm right and you're wrong" brawl, I'll be deleting any posts that do any attacking or make negative comments. Fair warning. :)

I actually like a lot of Nelly's stuff, not G.O.A.T., but I like a lot of his stuff. Don't worry, Hero has already mocked me greatly for my enjoyment of mainstream rappers. :lolsign: And :topic: Will's WAY ahead in the poll now! :1-smile:

Actual accounts. I spose most of it's alleged, but considering the recent events, there's probably a lot of truth to it.

Do you have a pdf viewer installed? If you do, the icon for the file should be red and have a red block on the top that says pdf in white. Here's the text: ‘Unsigned’ - does this mean unworthy? I would have to say an excitable no. ‘Business As Usual’ is certainly not run of the mill and has a real rivalry with anything in the charts at the moment. I’d describe it as a cross between Hip-Hop and R‘n’B but in not in a way I’ve seen before. It has something for every taste, and I like to dabble in my fare share of genres. Personally not all rapping does it for me especially with what’s out at the moment, but ‘Da Brakes’ brings a new fl avour that’s just less about attitude, which is like a breath of fresh air. Originally an actor from West London, (I thought I recognised the face) it has been said that he pulls off the live aspect of his performance really well, and if this albums anything to go by, I look forward to seeing him progress. This album just might be that ticket. I have listened to his previous albums from his website and they are good, but this latest instalment to Da Brakes’ hefty collection does show off his worth. For the more Hip-Hop inclined Da Brakes more than stands his ground with tracks like ‘Rap City Road’ and ‘Make Noise’ showing off his lyricism and sure tell tale sign that he’s been perfecting his craft over the years. With tracks including ‘Jewellery’ –an addictive beat with incredible catchy chorus, and ‘Understand’ – which is going to be massive in the clubs and on your radio, you get a real feel for what this guy is about. There is a spicy mix of humour, straight talking and real lyrical ability; all put together with more charm and charisma than anyone has managed to pull off so far. Da Brakes has a boat load of personality to put across but not in the way some artists do, trying to shove it down your neck, he’s got cheeky arrogance that suits his style. My advice is to keep your eyes peeled because Da Brakes is pulling out all the stops. Promising. Very Promising.

Cobra 2 It examines the US's pre-war planning for Iraq. Very interesting, my favorite part is when it talks about what the Iraqi government was planning/expecting/doing compared to what the US was. Both countries were way off the mark many times.
