Kanye West's Mom Shocked on How much he spends on....
Schnazz replied to mfuqua23's topic in Caught in the Middle
I can't speak to SmoothB's intentions, but the "White Jesus" can definitely be seen as mind control. During slavery, Africans where brought to North America (among other places) and part of how they where "civilized" was to convert them to Christianity. This conversion was seen as another form of trying to keep them down, in place. Not only where the white slave owners supposed to be superior, Jesus, and God through extension, the most superior of beings, was white. This is seen as a major piece of psychological warfare. If "man" was created in God's image, and God is white, then white people must be closer to god then anyone else. As for mind control, there's some truth to that claim. I'm not saying that all of religion is pure mind control, but certain aspects at certain times have been. (is that enough of a disclaimer?) One of the basic tenets of most Christian sects is that you should have faith. Faith is the complete confidence in God, and by extension, the teachings of that particular church. This complete confidence can teach you to ignore outside information, blindly trust in God. Now, many religious leaders try and balance that, but there are many who do not. Additionally, throughout history and even the current US, Christian churches have gone significantly against what modern science has (correctly) described as the functioning of the world. Ranging from the famous claim that the world is the center of the universe (with the subsequent attacks of scientists that claimed otherwise), to the modern debate on evolution verses intelligent design. Even beyond these large issues, there's more, smaller ways that the church can do the thinking for the people. Though it's illegal in the US, what rawad pointed out about the voting does occur. Many people, before making decisions, will want to consult their preacher (pastor, whatever your flavor is). Not in purely religious areas, but in many areas of life. So yes, for a lot of people, church is a form of mind control, on one level or another. Not necessarily everyone, or always in a significant way, but it does occur frequently. -
Um, ok, why are we here? Is there anything more? Where do ants go when they die? What's the meaning of life? Will Tell Me Why get a video?

I never got any official numbers, so I'm going to go ahead and extrapolate from yours. Let's say you had a 153 officially, with a 139 on the online test. Since I got a 147 on the online test, that would lead me to believe that my official number would be around 162, slightly higher then Einstein's number. That sounds more realistic. :) And yes, I realize the numerous flaws in this logic, and I don't care, it makes me smile, and the sky is purple in my world. Such a lovely sky... :lolsign: :lolsign:

A few years ago, I went to my (then) girlfriend's brother's wedding. I knew their parents really well, but I didn't know anyone else at the wedding, not even her brother. The reception was a far too up scale for me, very polite society. Private golf course, orchestra, the noise level was never above a polite murmur, etc... At one point during the reception, the room rather quiet, I went to take a drink of my water. About half way up it slipped out of my hand, landing on a lovely plate making quite possibly the loudest noise I've heard in my life. That caught the attention of most of the room. The glass of water was not done with it's travels though, as it bounced off of my plate and landed in my lap. Amazingly, not a drop of water spilt on my plate, it all managed to land in the vicinity of my pants' zipper. While this unfortunate situation seemed to entertain a lot of the nice folks in the room, it didn't end there. My girlfriend's mother proceeded to jump to her feet, and race over to "help" me. Apparently her idea of help was to start drying off my "zipper" region, as the entertained crowd looked on. After I managed to convince her that it would be best if I dried my self, things where starting to get back to normal, when my girls grandmother, an apparently sweet, 65 year old woman, looked over at me and said "Why're you getting red, ya having a problem?" And proceeded to not laugh, but actually cackle for a good five minutes. I can make an impression with the best of them. :)

Wow, must be the pic, it looks seriously gray to me. Sadly, I already have several gray hairs, their just not visible yet. Though, I'd rather have gray hair then no hair. :1-say-yes: Make no mistake though, I am vain enough to dye it. :lolsign: The pic's are tight, except that you got the wrong team... The Bears, so sad. lol :) The Colts is where it's at! :gettinjiggywitit:

I haven't really had any crazy jobs, my jobs have been mostly programming or teaching. I've had two somewhat interesting experiences. On one of my programming jobs, of which I was salary, I had to work 80-100 hours a week for 6 months straight. 180 12+ hour days in a row with no days off get's a bit old. When I started teaching I was 20 years old and most of my students where much older. For those outside of the US, the legal drinking age is 21 here. From time to time one of my former students would be so kind as to make a beer run for me.

I finally caught back up with ya. I was gonna pass ya with some sheepteroids, but I didn't have 6 hours to waste. :)
