  1. I liked the concept and ya had some good lines! Though "Oreos" isn't exactly the nicest of terms.
  2. I think that, in general, when a parent decides to take away a game (or music, movie, books, whatever), the parent is usually over reacting. Most kids understand the difference between tv/movies/games/music and reality. I do agree with Frenetic that a dialogue is a better method. There are, however, certain kids who are not mentally/emotionally ready for that kind of material. I doubt it's anywhere near the quantity that parents believe, but they're definately there. The parent is definately the right person to make those kinds of decisions. They just seem to err on the side of being overly cautious. Now, back to reality, let's really look at what goes on when a parent monitors and removes certain media from a kid. This parent is actively involved in the kids life. They're actively seeing what the kid spends his/her time doing and attempts to keep it in line with what they think will be healthy for the kid. Sure, it's not always right, and they're being overly cautious. But I'd rather see that happen then see parents who don't care at all. If every parent was that involved and concerned, the world would be a better place. So, at the end of the day, I think parents are overly concerned, but I'd rather them be overly concerned then not concerned at all. Just as long as they don't force it on me by regulating what kinds of games can be made and (when I have children) what kinds of games my kids can play. /Edited portion I should out right say this: A parent can raise their kid any way they want, it's their business, not others. There are probably two circumstances where this isn't true, if the child is being harmed by the parent or when the child will grow up and cause problems for society. By no stretch of the imagination does removing games fall into either of those two caveats. :)
  3. Sounds like you did what a good parent should do! You care enough to see what he's playing and you knew enough to take that game away from him. Absolutley. Just like movie stores shouldn't allow kids to rent R movies or adult movies with out their parents consent, game stores shouldn't let kids get M and AO games with out their parents consent.
  4. Ok, I want to weigh in on this. This is just stupid, for several reasons: In the game you steal cars and muder people to succeed. But now, oh dear lord, there's concentual sex involved, please won't someone thing of the children! This just show's how off society is when it's better to reward murder then it is to reward sex. It has an M rating here in the US, which means that it's for 17 and older. Now, oh boy, it can only be bought if you're 18 or older. Yep, we're saving the world now. Give me a break, it's foolishness to think that if you're 17 you can't see sex in a game, but if you're 18 you can. Another issue is that this game is obviously not for children. My god, the title of the game is Grand Theft Auto! If you buy that for your 12 year old you should know full well that he/she is getting their hands on something designed for adults. If the title isn't obvious enough for the parents to make the decision, there's a nifty M there to make it even more obvious. No parent who has half a brain and is paying at least a minimal amount of attention could have reasonably bought this thinking it was an innocent childrens game. Continuing on, the game didn't even ship with the sex scene available! You had to manually edit the game. This isn't a cheat code, the game was hacked. Let me point out that you can also modify The Sims to include nudity and sex. Shall we change that to an adult rating as well? Now, if your child is smart enough to go to the internet, find the fix for the game, then apply it. Then your child is smart enough to go to the internet and find much more realistic porn. I'm a game developer, and I have a theory as to how this scene got put in there. Keep in mind that I don't know with certainty if this is how it happened, and even if it isn't, this entire situation is dumb anyway. However, I would bet good money that when they designed the game they decided to put a sex scene in. They probably created it and then decided (or where informed) that it would probably put the game over the top to the adult rating. Faced with that, they would have then decided to remove it. Now, if they did all of this at the end of the development process, then the easiest and safest way of removing it is to not actually remove it, but change a small amount of code to skip over the scene. Any changes at the end of development are very dangerous, even it it's just to remove content. The good decision is to not actually remove the content, just put in a very minor change to ignore the content. The reason why I don't think this is some rogue developer making this change is easy. If it was, then you wouldn't have to hack the game, you would put in a cheat code to see it. That is, it would be available with much greater ease. Why? Cuz if you put in something like that for kicks (that is, you don't ~have~ to), you do it so people can see it. However, I would also bet money that some programmer on the team is the one who created the hack to get it back in the game. I'm very annoyed that the Congress is throwing a fit over this.
  5. I've definately been following it. My favorite part is when there was no evidence that Rove was involved, Bushes line was "I'll fire anyone involved!" now that there's evidence that Rove's involved, it's "I'll fire anyone who committed a crime!" The other amusing thing, Fox claimed that Coopers testimony vindicated Rove, Cooper's description of the testimony was quite different.
  6. Where's the fun in that? :stickpoke:
  7. Lost is when you care more about your tax refund then about kids starving Found is when you realize that even the small difference that you can make does help Lost is when you fall into the rut of life Found is when you decide to choose your path Lost is when hate groups of people Found is when you can love every individual person Lost is when you think you can't Found is when you decide that some how you will Lost is when you spend hundreds of billions to kill 30,000 innocent people Found is when you realize that a five dollar mosquito net is a cheap price to save a life Lost is when you're skipping on child support Found is when the highlight of your day is seeing your child smile Lost is when you spend hours every day watching reality shows Found is when you spend hours every day reading
  8. Dr. ScyHigh, lol! I hadn't noticed, but since it's all the rage, I've given my self an avatar.
  9. I think Lost and Found did just that. Switch, Tell Me Why, and Scary Story.
  10. :word: I dig a lot of their music, Feel Me Flow, Everythings Gonna Be Alright, OPP, definatley. Though "There just like JJFP" I don't know about that... I always figured their music was a lot harder the JJ/FP. "Guard Your Grill" "Yoke The Joker", even "O.P.P.", I can't picture JJ/FP making songs that rough.
  11. I want to try and manage my mp3 collection a little better. Right now I have each disc in it's own folder in thumb nail view (so I can see the album art for the disc). Then I use the pop-up menu to play it in Media Player or Winamp. It works ok, but I'd like to try something that was built into MP/WA. What do ya'll use? I'd like something that allows me to play a disc at a time and browse my discs by seeing the album art. Also, do any of use anything that automatically picks the next song for you? Something like: I play Gettin Jiggy Wit It, and the program automatically knows that I'd also be in the mood for Wild Wild West. I prefer Media Player, but I'm open to suggestions for other players as well. The big thing I like about Media Player is being able to minimize it and have the play/pause/etc buttons in the task bar. Any suggestions?
  12. Whoa, The Twilight Zone? What's this track? Or are you referring to "Then She Bit Me" ?
  13. I like a lot of Mace's stuff. He's not near Will's league, but I dig him non the less. Him making a big deal out of making a cleaner album... I wonder if that has more to do with Kanye's success then it does with his own beliefs/desires.
  14. I'm gonna go off the board and say that I want more story telling rhymes. I always thought that the dance tracks (disposable lyrics) weren't nearly as good as his story telling tracks. That said, and back to the topic, I like a good mix of fun stories and serious stories. Part of why I enjoy L&F so much is that it has a great mix. If I had to choose one or the other, I'd prefer serious stuff. I'd much rather have Tell Me Why, Lost And Found, Just The Two Of Us, and Shadow Dreams over Gettin Jiggy Wit It, Miami, Will2k, Wild Wild West, and Switch. But there's still room for It's All Good, Scary Story, Twinkle Twinkle, and Summertime.
  15. I liked it man, I was totally picturing the situation as I was reading it.
  16. Clings hard to 47 minutes. :) Great at freestyle battles, posts a lot of great lyrics.
  17. Aspiring businessman/forum leader/chicken head
  18. I imagine you're talking about the stuff that's downloaded the majority of the time. However, just in case some folks aren't aware, not all downloading of unpayed for music is illegal in the US. It depends on if the owner of the music is freely giving it away. For example, on another forum I posted a link to a beat I made, there is nothing illegal about downloading that. I created it, I own the rights to it, and I choose to give it away. Also, I would suspect that downloading some of Da Brakes' music isn't illegal either, he appears to be making it freely available. However, downloading Switch is illegal, since the owner of that isn't offering it for free (as far as I know). Downloading the Party Starter instrumental is probably illegal. However, I don't know if it was made available to folks with the intention of downloading and creating mixes. I can see how that would be in Will Smith's best interest, but I don't know if that was the intention. I believe there are other fuzzy areas as well, but I don't know enough about them to really comment on them.
  19. Yea boy! That's my Indiana representing strong in that list! lol
  20. I once read a quote attributed to Ted Turner, I don't know if it's true or not, but I like it. "I go to every meeting with ten ideas, one of the ideas may turn out to be a good one." With that in mind, here are some ideas for some funny stuff to do on the show. "This Just In," followed by goofy/mocking stuff. "This Just In, Mike Jones arrested after starting a fight at a liquor store. Apparently, when asked for ID, the alleged rapper refused, repeatedly yelling 'I'm Mike Jones!'" Like that, but funnier Could have a rap-punditry segment. I don't know how it is where ya'll live, but in a lot of the U.S. news shows there'll be a guest representing the democrats and a guest representing the republicans. (I really have no clue about the rest of the world, so in case ya don't know, that's the two, and only two, sides of our political parties) They're pundits and they basically say how great their side is on any particular issue. The pod-cast could have two characters, one representing the rap side, the other representing the hip-hop side. They could argue funny issues, like "Is it true, 'b---es aint' s--t but hoes and tricks.'" The hip-hop cat could be very intelligently discussing it, the rap cat could throw out a single, simple, ignorant sentence in reply, with every-other word beeped out. Some "investigative reporting" skits. For example, the reporter could claim to have tracked down an actual redneck living in a trailer park that loves hip-hop. That could make for a funny mock interview. It could be a series of reports, random people who love hip-hop who you wouldn't guess it. Librarian, politician, scientist, etc... Haha, in the voice of the crazy scientist from the Simpsons: “Um, well, yes. When I’m calculating quantum spin on a photon in motion, I always have to have my Luda bumpen. It helps me concentrate.” A regular bit kinda like the old guys from the Muppets, have Hero come on at times (at the end of the show) and say some funny stuff about how bad the show is. A flash forward thing, hip-hop from 2018 or some such thing... "Jay-Z just broke Michael Jordan’s record and retired for the 13th time today" "Will Smith just won his 12th Grammy" "Ying-Yang twins just released their new album. Expanding on their whisper song, their first single has no words at all. By all accounts, it's their best release to date." Etc... And not so funny, a hip-hop news portion. Well, that's only six, I guess I need four more before I hit on a good idea. :)
  21. Thanks ya'll! Though, not for the old comments! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: And this was just cold: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :scared07: :)
  22. "In an interesting turn of events, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith dominated this years International Figure Skating competition."
  23. I think Hero has it listed as a single: Albums
  24. Isn't that a single release of Touch of Jazz, off of Rock The House?
