  1. Here's an idea for the finale The last scene ended with you talking to some hottie at the club. She apparently was working for the people who stole the DJ. (ahh, the classic super-villain "this is how I'm going to win" rant) She poisons you and you pass out. You awake locked in the back of Blazer outside the bad guys lair. As you look around, you realize that you're actually next door to your house, at the Ying Yang Twins' castle. When you get out of the truck, you see Jazzy's glasses lying on the ground. They must be the ones who took Jazzy and he's been here the entire time. Still in a haze, you try to sneak into the castle, avoiding the moat, attack dogs, snipers, and so on. (Man, they really put a lot of effort into keeping the hunnies from escaping.) Once you're inside, you need to find Jazzy. As you prowl around you start hallucinating people around you and you seem to keep wanting to sing nursery rhymes. Some interesting problems occur in the castle for you to solve, but eventually you stumble into a room and someone clubs you from behind. You wake up, tied to a pole, next to Jazzy. You deftly pull out your Swiss Army Hat, cut the rope and you're both free. As Jazzy makes his escape, you radio for backup and go into the next room to arrest the Ying Yang Twins. There's a final showdown, and Agent FP wins in some extremely clever way.
  2. Anyone have any feedback about the opening or the code red portion? We need to get together a next step after the opening. Where's Ice Cube at? What does he have to say? What interesting things/problems will FP encounter there? Where will FP head to next? Would this part be a reasonable setting for a Scary Story-esque part of the game? Should we introduce Kay now?
  3. I've already cast my vote, so now I'm just lobbying. :) And In This Corner is just down right hilarious! Then She Bit Me, I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson, Who Stole My Car and The Girlie Had A Mustache. That disc cracks me up!
  4. Here's a rough idea for an opening scene: Jazzy and The Prince are supposed to be doing a show at <some hip club>. When FP get's there, he finds out that Jazzy isn' there, he's been stolen! This is a job for the Super-Fly Private Eye, Sherlock Homeboy, and transforms into Agent FP. He interviews folks backstage to find clues as to who took Jazzy. He talks to a few people, including Schnazz. Schnazz tell's him that Ice Cube may now something, he was talking about some ill stuff that was gonna go down. Indicating that Cube was in the club earlier, Agent FP then heads out to the Dance Floor. Someone on the dance floor tells him that Cube already left. As FP heads for the door, he's interrupted by some bouncers, nasty fella's that love gangsta rap (with some clever indication of this). Some how FP needs to find a way to get past the bouncers and the throngs of angry people waiting for a show. And hilarity ensues. Once FP makes it off the Dance Floor and out of Da' Club, Charlie Mack has thoughtfully dropped off the SL 500. He hops in and set's off to find Ice Cube. An example of how FP could get past a bouncer. He has the ability to rap his tracks for people. Some of the people on the club will tell him about the bouncers. A few of them subtle indicate that one of the bouncers secretly likes FP. A few others indicate that he has a strong willed lady that is always giving him grief. Will can get out by going up to the bouncer and dropping a few lines of Girls Ain't Nothen But Trouble.
  5. Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy few days. Jazzy Julie, some additional story points need to be added in to fill out Code Red as a story line. For example, apparently FP has a girlfriend, only one? Who is she? Is she present through out the game? Etc... As for the game play ideas, walking/hiding. That could be interesting, but it may be difficult. The way these kind of games are played, they're slow, turn based types of games... However, hiding might be an interesting puzzle. For example, you have to go behind a chair, then you have to grab a menu to cover your face, then you have to walk into the kitchen, etc... Bracesup, that's a pretty good idea, but I think on a fan game based around JJ/FP, realism may be a better route. But super natural hip-hop characters could be a cool idea for a more traditional game. I am loving the extensive use of turntables, that may be something good to work in! fabman, Philadelphia is a great setting as is A Touch of Jazz! And the listening to Britney Spears part cracked me up. :) That brings up an interesting point, how did Jazzy get stolen? What are they doing with them while they're holding him? Should we have cut scenes (for lack of a better term. A brief pause to see something else that's going on) describing him getting tortured? I put together a (very) little something, just to get a place up where the game can live while we're working on it. The game itself isn't anywhere close to even being a demo, just a few poorly described locations. However, you can check it out at: http://www.sixpencesoftware.com/JJFPGame.htm Sorry for the horrible rhymes! ;) You'll need to be able to run Java to see it. About all you can do is: walk east check out my ride pimp my ride You'll need to click on the black box to start typing. On the technical side, I'm using Inform (as in Zork). I went with that because a lot of people use it... Though, I'm open to suggestions to something better. Any suggestions should come quick, I don't want to get too far and have to change.
  6. Hickory, dickory, dock! The mouse ran up the clock; The clock struck one, And then Scy won, Hickory, dickory, dock!
  7. Thanks for the congrats ya'll! That was a great battle Will, when I read your first rhyme I thought I didn't have a chance. And I loved these lines: and They cracked me up! :laugh2:
  8. The lyrics here and on the insert at the ws.com page have this lyric: "His palms to God, seeds and qualms with God" I always thought it was: "His palms to God, seeds of qualms with God" (of instead of and) The second version makes more sense to me, the violence in the world is causing his son to start to be upset with God. Anyone else thinking this?
  9. It's not up there, but Caught In The Middle is the perfect song for my lady and I. "She say's baby I need to see you, You say 'babe, I got work to tend to' Love tells you to go and be with her But life say's boy get your butt to work" She's attending grad school and I'm trying to get a company going, we both have to put out a serious effor to make sure "us" get's the right attention.
  10. Hehhehheh, that'll be great! Code Red's in! :thumb: Anyone else have any suggestion's for tracks that should be used as locations/scenes? Or ones that should at least be referenced? Suggestions for characters are welcome too... Personally, I'd like to see: Good guys of Dana Dane, Slick Rick and Biz. Neutral guys: Ice Cube and Nas Anyone care to start making story suggestions? High level ideas, or maybe a rough overview of how you'd like a scene to play out? Hero, ya got anything for Code Red? Keep in mind, it's a little different, since things needs to be in game form. For example, there needs to be things that the player needs to accomplish, different options for the player to choose from, etc... You don't need to come up with any of those just yet, just keep them in mind when thinking about the story. Also, I'm putting together a little demo of the game. Just a couple small locations, nothing major. The goal being to try and set a vibe of the game, so we can figure out what page we want everyone to be in. (and, hopefully, give folks a taste of the goal) Hopefully I'll get that together this weekend.
  11. Hahahaha, that's great! Reminds me of Shawn Brown.
  12. Yea, we need to get a storyline together. Here's my initial thoughts on a concept, subject to debate and radical change :) Furious that Jazzy and The Prince are rocking parties so hard, the Ying Yang Twins have stolen Jazzy. Now it is up to the Fresh Prince to get him back. For some random, at some point very well described, reason, FP has to traverse the world collecting beats. The odds are against him though as the Ying Yang Twins joined forces with all of the really untalented gangster rappers of the world. Luckily, FP has many old school rappers supporting him, including Dana Dane (yea, random, but his music kills me :). Agent FP will traverse a series of worlds based off of JJ/FP music, including: Block Party Trapped On The Dance Floor Loretta (element in other worlds) Twinkle Twinkile (element in other worlds) Just One Of Those Days Parents Just Don't Understand Scary Story Nightmare On My Street ending in Then She Bit Me with the final battle against the Ying Yang Twins Here's what needs to be done: Put together a story line Create/decide on characters Come up with a rough game flow (for example, you have to outwit bouncers to get off the dance floor and into Just One Of Those Days, a bad example, but an example none the less :) Create puzzles Write descriptions for rooms, objects, etc Write dialog Btw, what's an appropriate way/place to discuss this? In this thread? Another thread? Email? Also, I've never made a text adventure game before, and it's been a while since I played one (hopefully I'll fix that shortly). But I'll try not to go off in the wrong direction too much. :)
  13. Wow Jersey boy, you're rhyme's have gone way down hill I'm gonna be nice and help you out just a 'lil I'm putting rhymes in my rhyme? Ya, you got me Of course I am, I like when rap flow's nicely But hey, at least you got a three syllable rhyme! Though, come to think of it, half of that was mine And good job googling Homer, stumbling across his lore Ya found his great epics, but there is just a bit more How about the Homeric Hymns, did ya come across those? You must have missed 'em, they contain a lot of prose I know this is complicated, so study with intensity Homer was a POET, creating verse was his propensity And ya know that music where they brag of being shot? Even those folks are poets, whether you like it or not But I can guess as to the source of your frustration The words weren't English, it lost a little in translation You should get Cliff Notes, to understand what I'm writing A little work, and you'll know the folks that I'm citing That was all fun, but something serious must be said You should care less who the hell I have in my bed I can just see you chatten with your boys later today "Did you see that dog, I totally called him gay!" What's wrong with you man, being gay ain't no diss It don't mean sh!t, who a guy chooses to kiss I know you're thinking "Oh, he must be queer" Go ahead, as long as my lady's thoughts are clear And what's your problem, trying to talk about my race Man, you're a fool, creating that was such a disgrace Let me share some wisdom, to try and save ya from sin People are people, they're not defined by their skin You should check your self on what you put in your rhymes Next thing you know, you'll be out committing hate crimes
  14. Swagga is one of my favorite tracks on there. I love the flow of the opening lines. And "S On My Chest, I recovered from the Wild Wild West, yes" :)
  15. Yea, it should still be going around then. This is great, I've wanted to make a JJ/FP game since like 89 :clap2:
  16. Damn Jersey boy, that's the best ya ever wrote ya must been scared, to improve in just one stroke Let me congratulate, on reaching mediocrity With your try to get in, the Hip-Hop aristocracy I'll give ya credit, you did get one thing right Time's running out, but on you, my rhymes are tight And it's apt that you rhyme about Ashley Simpson While I rap 'bout Ali and Sonny Liston Cuz I hit hard while you search for the right line Your so last year, while my references span all time Let me explain, cuz apparently you don't know Kerouac’s a beatnik, the grandfather of the flow Homer was a cat from seven hundred BC He was one of the first to be an MC Now your confused, so here's something you'll understand Just a few lines, about a literary man See Dick jump, jump Dick jump, see Dick run, run Dick run See dick, trying to write, curse his own conception Ya feel better? Seeing a rhyme made for the slow? Now that that's over, I'm back to my regular flow On the mic you sound as hip as a missionary Claiming my rhymes where made with a dictionary But they're not, you're just jealous is all it is That you lack vocabulary to spit like this: Unendingly spitten, meticulously written, I drop the funkiest flow perpetually wily, rhyming so slyly, dodging the luckiest blow continually winning, all the while grinnen, I've got extraordinary fame beaten Ill down, that no talent ass clown, who's got just ordinary game I'm terribly clever, gonna lose never, I am the wittiest son verbally resilient, rhythmically brilliant, and I'm the prettiest one Stanza by stanza, it's a rhyming bonanza, it's such an indelible feat I'm ending the reign, of your despicable game, by dropping incredible heat
  17. Iraq: The war in Iraq infuriates me for several reasons. Bush flat lied to American citizens, world citizens, Congress, and presumably world leaders. Just before the war, Bush, Cheney, and Powel (I used to respect at least him) told the same story; Saddam has WMD's or could have them any moment. "I don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud." Yet, there never where any WMD's. And there's evidence to suggest that it was believed before the war that there weren't any WMD's. (say, the opinion of the weapon inspectors that where in Iraq) It was also stated that Iraq and Al Qaeda where in it together, yet Iraq was a secular nation and Al Qaeda is a spiritual quest. There've been many reports that Al Qeda members despised Saddam. The next point of the war (we where told) was that it would make the world a safer place; it was a fight against terrorism. So far it's had the exact opposite effect. The number of terrorist incidents has increased this year, and it increased last year as well. Many experts on Iraq believe that it is now a terrorist breeding ground. But, on a more general level, let's examine terrorism. Bush has told at least the American people that terrorist "hate our way of life." That may be true, but it's not our McDonalds eating, divorce getting, Will Smith listening way of life that they hate, which is what was implied. It's more that the US routinely topples beloved leaders and installs cruel dictators. The US frequently kills folks around the globe but rarely helps non-Americans (and barely helps Americans) in need. When it comes to foreign aid, I believe, the US ranks number 17 in percentage of tax-dollar spent on helping. But it ranks number one in military spending. If you want to make the world a safer place, I have an easy plan. Stop hurting people and start helping them. For less then what the US spends on one month of war in Iraq, they could virtually end Malaria around the globe. (which is still a major killer in many places) For much, much, much, much less then the cost of the Iraq war, the US could fund a series of programs that would all but eliminate extreme poverty in the world. If the US did more of those things and less war, I'm willing to bet that there would be a lot less terrorists in the world in general, and far fewer that hate the US specifically. Michael Moore: I like him. I grew up in Michigan (for those who don't know, middle America, original home of the American car industry). The first flick by Moore that I saw was "Roger And Me" (it may have been the first one he made) and he was right. I can vouch that at least from the human side of the story, he got it completely right. I loved Bowling for Columbine, and I loved Fahrenheit 911 as well. I will say that all of his films are definitely made from his point of view. (respectively, industry should have more of a heart, we live in a society obsessed with violence and it shows, Bush is bad bad person) However, I find it just too funny how Moore went from being a surprisingly successful, minorly known, documentary film maker to incredibly hated "propagandist" over the course of a year or so. I was talking with my father about Moore. My dad's a 70 year old retired coach/school teacher, conservative, middle American old guy. He's never seen a Moore film in his life, and his stance is "I don't like what he stands for." I couldn't convince him otherwise. My brother-in-law (20 something mid west factory worker) owns Fahrenhype 911 and hates Moore. So I asked him why, "He's greedy, making lies, passing them off as truths, just to make some money." So I asked him if he saw Fahrenheit 911? "Hell no!" Ok then, never mind. :( John Kerry: He got my vote. Doesn't have the charisma he needed and made some serious tactical blunders, but I think the man is brilliant. (though I only judge from seeing his speeches and debates, I never actually met him, but hey, how else can you "do your civic duty" and pass judgments on politicians?) I think he really examines issues deeply, get's to know all of the complex in's and out's of problems, and the gives REAL solutions to the problems. (unlike certain other people who ran for president in 2004) Though, I may be biased, I agreed with many of his stances. The Bus: I would say that it is a bit Orwellian, but then again, we have the lovely Patriot Act. Though, I'm more inclined to say it's just flat dumb. At least in the US, a bus would be a very poor choice for a target of "suspicious behavior." What really kills me though is what things like that are encouraging. "Why McCarthyism, welcome back, we've missed you!" Red Sox: Stupid Massachusetts.
  18. Hey ya'll. I'm thinking about making a JJ/FP text adventure game, and I'm in search for folks who'd like to help. The whole vibe of the game would be fun/funny hip-hop theme with a LOT of rhymes. The game would star, of course, Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince, and would feature other rappers, and probably some of the us as well. My initial idea for the story is to base it on "Who Stole The DJ", you'd play Sherlock Homeboy, the Super-Fly Private Eye, Fresh Prince. :) And, of course, you'd have to rescue Jazzy. Perhaps going through some area's based on JJ/FP/WS songs. (Then She Bit Me, Nightmare, Scary Story, etc..) There's not much technical stuff to this, I can probably do it all. But it requires a lot of writing, rhyming, and puzzles. (kinda like what Hero tormented us with a while back to get those articles) Anyone here like to be a part of this? For those who don't know, a text adventure is an old style of video game, they're kinda like choose your own adventure books. You can play one at: http://www.eblong.com/zarf/zplet/dreamhold.html Apparently they're also called "interactive fiction" Hmm, maybe I shoulda posted this to the Numero Uno forum, that seems to be where all the rhymers hang out...
  19. Well that was nice Ted, your rhyming is always quaint But your soul has fled, taken off by the Hip-hop Saint Now you're flow's alright, about the best that you could be But this is a fight, in battle please shoot at me Folks take it easy, I understand your need to hurl Ya'll must be queasy, after hearen that Jersey Girl But take a quick breath, and get ready to just erupt Cuz like crystal meth, I'll be haven you all hyped up Rhythmatically gifted, I produce the prettiest prose Hypnotically lifted, the crowd will continue their crows Homer'd have my back, if I had lived in ancient Greece I'd ride with Kerouac, had his life refused to cease Rappers are the same, scared of these dexterous rhymes Bago rigged the game, and Sci used extraneous lines So Ted what's your scheme, how do ya intend to end my streak Cuz the folks will deem, you're sports analogies way too weak
  20. Yea, I remember seeing that as well. Maybe on headliners and legends?
  21. The robot from I Robot, I think
