Alfonso Ribeiro Remembers James Avery ... And All That Jazz The faux biological son of Uncle Phil on "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" has fond memories of their time together ... the most enduring of which involved down south music. Alfonso Ribeiro was leaving Mr. Chow when we asked him about the death of James Avery, and he was locked and loaded when we asked about what he remembers most. As you know ... James died New Year's Eve of complications from heart surgery. Judging from Alfonso, there's no doubt he'll be missed ... and remembered. From Jada's Facebook: This year has started with much reflection and gratitude considering the holidays has had its share of loss. This New Year's Eve, I celebrated my 16th wedding anniversary in Dubai. Those 16 years meant a hell of a lot considering I was not allowed to forget how short life truly is. I want to thank Tyrese, Maxwell and all our friends in Dubai for creating such an exuberant celebration for our anniversary. It meant everything. I'm wishing you all happiness, prosperity and most importantly...thee experience of deep love. Here's to 2014! J Btw...I hope the world at some point will be able to experience the joy of witnessing Tyrese and Maxwell singing together, because it is not a game;)

From Tatyana's Facebook (Karyn Parsons shared it on her Facebook too): I spent last night going through photos. I found these two from our final Friday night taping of Fresh Prince. We had a cake fight after shedding tears. People don't really understand that we knew how special our time together was. It wasn't special because of popularity or success, but because we were all together, sharing it. It's like it was all meant to be, and we could feel it. In the photo from left to right there's Jeff Pollack, Joseph Marcell, Ross Bagely Jr., Alfonso Ribeiro, Shelley Jensen our director, me, Karyn Parsons Sweet Blackberry, Quincy Jones and Will Smith. Jeff Pollack and James Avery left us. James was a philosopher king. He taught me to love history and poetry. He taught me that being an artist is one of the noblist professions. He gave me black baby dolls every Christmas. He used to joke that I'd visit him in the old actors age home when I got older. Every end is a beginning. I know James is at peace. Thanks everyone for all your kind words and thoughts. It means a lot to his family and friends. A Poem Of Friendship by Nikki Giovanni We are not lovers because of the love we make but the love we have We are not friends because of the laughs we spend but the tears we save I don't want to be near you for the thoughts we share but the words we never have to speak I will never miss you because of what we do but what we are together

From Janet's Facebook: I am home healing and was shocked to hear of James's passing. I think this incredible clip says it best. Acting with James was like a great doubles match! He was one of the best actors I have worked with in my many years. He was like a big strong boulder, that could either crush you or shield you. He was first and foremost an actor, classically trained, climbed that ladder step by step, role by role, to become one of the most powerful TV dads that had ever been created. My heart goes out to Barbara his real wife and family and I ask that you respect her place, as his real wife with regards to her husband with request for statements from me who simply but proudly played his TV wife Vivian Banks. RIP James, all the world is a stage, and we are all merely players in this production called LIFE.

Benny Medina On The Death Of Jeff Pollack http://www.deadline.com/2013/12/benny-medina-on-the-death-of-jeff-pollack/

The 54-year-old filmmaker, also known for directing “Booty Call” starring Jamie Foxx, died while jogging in Hermosa Beach Jeffrey Ian Pollack, a producer of Will Smith’s 1990s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and director of 1997 Jamie Foxx comedy “Booty Call,” was found dead Monday morning in Hermosa Beach, Calif. He was 54. An autopsy is pending to determine cause of death, a spokesman from the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner told TheWrap. A female jogger found Pollack’s unresponsive body, dressed in jogging clothing and equipped with an iPod nano playing the Eagles music, on the greenbelt near 30th Street, according to Easy Reader News. Hermosa Beach Police Department Captain Tommy Thompson told the outlet that although the cause of death has not yet been determined, foul play is not suspected. Pollack was born in 1959 in Manhattan Beach, Calif. and graduated from University of Southern California Film School in the early 1980s before he began serving as a co-producer on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” in 1990, and eventually co-executive producer in later seasons. In 1994, he wrote and directed his first feature, “Above the Rim,” an urban basketball drama starring rapper Tupac Shakur. His second directorial effort, “Booty Call,” starred Jamie Foxx and Tommy Davidson as two sexually frustrated friends trying to break a dry spell. The final feature he directed, 1999 comedy “Lost & Found,” starred David Spade as a man who kidnaps his neighbor’s dog in order to win her heart. Pollack partnered with Benny Medina (above, right) — the real-life inspiration for Smith’s “Fresh Prince” character — to form management and production company Medina/Pollack Entertainment, which became Handprint Entertainment. The company closed in 2008 after the departure of clients including Jennifer Lopez, Tyra Banks and Mariah Carey. http://www.thewrap.com/jeffrey-ian-pollack-fresh-prince-of-bel-air-producer-dead

So we can officially say that this is Will's first cameo since 'Jersey Girl' instead of 'Winter's Tale' (we don't even know yet if he'll appear in that movie ). 'Anchorman 2' is not my type of movie, but I'm glad he did this. It's always great to see Will doing fun stuff.
