Actor Will Smith Visits KSC; Film Shoot Possible Men In Black 3' Could Film On Space Coast, Sources Say KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- Photos obtained by WESH 2 News show actor Will Smith visiting the Kennedy Space Center on Tuesday. A source at KSC said the actor was taking part in a site survey for the movie “Men In Black 3.” Officials at KSC confirmed that Smith did visit on Tuesday, but would not provide further details. Bonnie King with the Space Coast Film Commission said there was nothing she could announce regarding Smith’s visit. A call placed to the Los Angeles liaison for the Florida Governor’s Office of Film and Entertainment was not immediately returned. According to multiple movie industry websites, the movie is expected to start filming on Sept. 13 in New York. The film’s expected release date is May 25, 2012. Several websites for movie enthusiasts report the third installment of the popular series will be set in 1969 and will involve Smith’s character, Agent J, traveling back in time. The “Men In Black” movie series revolves around a secret government agency that manages Earth’s alien population. The agents work to maintain the existence of such population a secret for the rest of humanity. A 1969 backdrop could make perfect sense for a shoot at KSC. Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969, marking the first moon landing by humans. A video said to be a teaser trailer with Smith for the movie said “Men In Black 3” would be released in 3-D. Space Coast film officials confirmed in May that the third installment of the “Transformers” movie series would film at KSC in September. That film is due to be released in July of 2011. “Armageddon” and “Space Cowboys” were also filmed in Brevard County. http://www.wesh.com/r/24829118/detail.html Pics here! http://www.wesh.com/slideshow/entertainment/24829148/detail.html?qs=1;s=1;p=entertainment&dm=ss&tn=b

'Kung Fu Panda' writers to pen 'Karate Kid' sequel (exclusive) By Borys Kit and Matthew Belloni Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff are moving from kung fu to karate. The duo, who wrote 2008's "Kung Fu Panda," have been tapped to pen the sequel to "The Karate Kid," Sony's surprise summer hit that Will Smith produced and starred his son Jaden Smith. Budgeted in the $40 million range, "Karate Kid" has grossed nearly $300 million worldwide. A sequel was put in motion immediately, with the writing gig becoming one of the hottest assignments in town. The update deviated from the 1984 original in that the latest story was set in China; a 1986 sequel saw the action go from the U.S. to Japan. The new sequel could try to keep the reversal going and seek to bring its cast to the U.S. Columbia would not reveal the setting or the plot for the new movie. Smith is producing with Overbrook Entertainment partners James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz. Voris and Reiff created Showtime's "Sleeper Cell" and made a big splash in features with "Nottingham," their upending of the Robin Hood myth that, after going through the Hollywood meat grinder, eventually was turned into this year's "Robin Hood." The duo also wrote "Gil's All Fright Diner," which Barry Sonnenfeld and Kirk De Micco are co-directing for DreamWorks Animation. The writers are repped by UTA, Field Entertainment and attorney Dave Feldman. http://heatvision.hollywoodreporter.com/2010/08/kung-fu-panda-karate-kid-sequel-jaden-smith-sony-will-smith.html

Jaden Smith to join Justin Bieber on stage Jaden Smith is set to join Justin Bieber on stage later this month. The pair met after the young actor appeared in 16-year-old Justin’s music promo for Never Say Never, a track which featured on The Karate Kid soundtrack. Jaden landed his first lead role playing Dre Parker in a re-imagining of the popular 80s martial arts movie and also showed off his musical skills by lending his vocals to Never Say Never. They have remained in contact since shooting the music video and Justin is keen for 12-year-old Jaden to perform alongside him. Jaden will reportedly surprise the crowd by appearing at Justin’s concert at Madison Square Garden, in New York, on August 31. Jaden’s superstar parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are expected to attend the show to cheer their son on. "Special security arrangements are being made for Jaden, who will appear onstage, and his family, including Will, to be in the audience for the concert," a source told the New York Post. Other guests set to appear include Sean Kingston and Jessica Jarrell. http://www.musicrooms.net/rock-and-pop/14048-Jaden-Smith-join-Justin-Bieber-stage.html

Disney gets 'Monster' script Studio aquires work from scribes Wilson and Zappa By DAVE MCNARY Disney has acquired the script "Monster Witness Relocation Program" from Michael Wilson and Ahmet Zappa. Project's been set up at Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment and Zappa's Monsterfoot Productions. Logline's being kept under wraps. Project's being developed as a possible vehicle for "The Karate Kid" star Jaden Smith, though the thesp isn't attached at this point. In 2005, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films paid $1.5 million for film rights to Zappa's then-unpublished novel "Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless." That story concerns a young brother and sister who learn their family is part of a long line of monster hunters. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118023195.html?categoryId=13&cs=1
