Will and Jada Pinkett Smith to host Nobel concert

Mr. and Mrs. Smith go to Oslo to host Nobel Prize concert Will Smith— one of the biggest stars on the planet — says he's still struggling to find his place in the world. "You know, once you reach your 40th birthday, the world starts looking a little different," he says. He's hoping the Nobel Peace Prize concert — which he's co-hosting with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, Friday in Oslo — will help in his journey of self-discovery. "It's really frustrating sometimes, but I just feel like this is the right place to meet people, and as my grandmother used to say, 'Make the world better just because you were there.' " The pair snagged the concert-hosting gig through a friend, Harvard professor S. Allen Counter, well before President Obama won the Peace Prize, a confluence of events that Pinkett Smith calls "icing on the cake." The Smiths will attend today's Peace Prize ceremony and will interview Obama. The interview will air during the concert. The concert, to be held at the Oslo Spektrum, will feature performances by Wyclef Jean, Donna Summer, Toby Keith, Lang Lang and Natasha Bedingfield and will stream live Friday on CNN.com beginning at 2 p.m. ET. It will be televised in the USA early next year. The couple's primary goal is to issue a warm welcome to the world. "I'm going to have to restrain some of my standard dumbness," Smith jokes. "We want to make it seem as though we are hosting very prestigious guests in our living room. We want to be able to just bring some warmth and a little laughter and fun into the program," Pinkett Smith says. "And, at the end of the show, we're all coming out and we're going to sing —" Smith interrupts: "You can't give away the end of the show!" Pinkett Smith concedes, laughing heartily, while her husband tries to deflect. "At the end of it, my character dies!" he jokes. The couple's easy rapport is reminiscent of another high-profile couple, whom Smith and Pinkett Smith admire: the Obamas. "They're with Will and I on the level of how we live. I mean, (we're) nowhere near what the Obamas are doing, but just with the pressures that we have and how much concentration and work it takes to keep your family intact. They are an extraordinary family." Smith says the example that the president and first lady set as a couple is something to behold. "If you can create such a beautiful, hopeful impression, then I think that the value is in the realm of the unnamable," he says. "You can't even quantify what that does when you can make somebody feel the way that they're able to make you feel." http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2009-12-10-willjada10_ST_N.htm -
Josh Brolin answering the call for 'Men in Black 3'? Recent L.A. Times addition Steven Zeitchik has another casting scoop for Hero Complex: Josh Brolin could be going from "W." to K. With "No Country for Old Men," "Milk," "W.," and, of course, "The Goonies" on his resume, Brolin's filmography speaks for itself. Now he may be adding "Men in Black 3" to that estimable list. The actor is being considered for a role that would have him donning the black suit and shades for the third installment of the sci-fi comedy franchise. His exact part is a matter of discussion, but in recent days there's been chatter in Hollywood development circles of a few possibilities: He could play a new single-monikered government agent, with Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K passing the baton to Brolin's character. Or he could play Agent K as a young man. Or something else entirely. Whatever the part, Brolin could be playing against some star power: Will Smith is expected to return in the new "MIB" as Agent J. It wouldn't mark the first time J ran missions with someone else. In the second film, his character briefly chased aliens and erased memories with other partners before Jones' Agent K came out of retirement. Sony is currently contemplating a production start for the picture in 2010 (though it has yet to be greenlit). The film, which is based on a script by "Tropic Thunder" writer Etan Cohen and which tentatively has Barry Sonnenfeld coming back to direct, could shoot at least partly in New York. One issue that still needs to be worked out: scheduling. Brolin has lately given Nicolas Cage a run for his money as the hardest-working man in show business, starring in the comic-book western "Jonah Hex" and the sequel to Oliver Stone's "Wall Street." Both of those films have wrapped, but he's signed on for a few more meaty roles that could shoot in the first part of 2010, including the Coen brothers' remake of "True Grit" and the Mafia crime drama "Cartel." -- Steven Zeitchik http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2009/12/here-comes-the-man-in-milk--josh-brolin-the-former---is-in-talks-to-play-a-prominent-role-i-men-inblack-3-the-third-instal.html

Woman Taken to Hospital From Woods' Home A woman was rushed to a Florida hospital by ambulance from Tiger Woods' home early Tuesday after a rescue call was made, officials say. According to WESH-TV, the woman was taken from Woods' multimillion-dollar home "on advanced life support" after firefighters received a call at 2:36 a.m. Tuesday. Footage shot outside Health Central Hospital in Ocoee appeared to show a blonde woman on a stretcher being taken inside. According to witnesses, a black SUV, similar to the one Woods crashed the day after Thanksgiving, showed up at the hospital minutes later. A witness told Fox News that a "nice-looking blonde woman" who looked similar to Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, was driving the vehicle. According to WFTV-TV, the license plate on that Cadillac Escalade seen at the hospital had only one character that was different from the Escalade involved in the crash. Meanwhile, RadarOnline.com reported Woods' wife moved out of the couple's home and is living in a nearby house. The report came after several women claimed to have engaged in relationships with the golf star. Woods was admitted to the hospital after his SUV crash as an overdose under the alias "William Smith," TMZ reported early Tuesday. Sources at the Health Central Hospital reportedly said Woods’ admissions chart specified "OD" and mentioned he was having trouble breathing. Will Smith to Wear Marc Jacobs in Oslo... Feeling Sheepish... GET MARC, GET SET: Thanks to Marc Jacobs, Will Smith should be looking good when President Obama is presented with the Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 11 in Oslo. In fact, the designer will be suiting up the actor for all of the related festivities in Norway. Multiple custom suits and tuxedos have been made for Smith, and a mélange of fall ready-to-wear pieces have been sent his way. http://www.wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/will-smith-to-wear-marc-jacobs-in-oslo-feeling-sheepish-2385260?justin=2385260 -

Evan Chandler, dad of boy who accused Michael Jackson of molestation, commits suicide in New Jersey The father of a boy who accused Michael Jackson of molestation in 1993 blew out his brains in his luxury New Jersey apartment, cops said Tuesday. Evan Chandler, 65, whose son received a multimillion-dollar settlement from the King of Pop, was discovered in his 16th- floor waterfront pad in Jersey City with his gun still in his hand. Chandler took his own life Nov. 5, Jersey City police spokesman Stan Eason said. The concierge of Chandler's building found the body. "He [Chandler] was on his bed still holding the weapon with a single gunshot wound to the head," Eason said. "It's straightforward. Case closed. It's suicide." Chandler had been extremely ill and was scheduled to see a hematologist on the day he committed suicide, Eason said. When Chandler didn't show up for the medical appointment, his doctor called the concierge to go check on him, Eason said. "There was medication found in [Chandler's apartment] consistent with a serious illness," Eason said. He said Chandler did not leave a suicide note. In 1993, Chandler's son, who was then 13, accused Jackson of molesting him at the pop icon's Neverland Ranch in California. The allegations first surfaced after Evan Chandler, a former Beverly Hills dentist, administered Amytal sodium, known as truth serum, to his son. The case never went to trial, and a civil suit filed by Evan Chandler and his son was withdrawn after Jackson paid the family $20 million. Jackson, who died in June from a prescription drug overdose, later said he settled to avoid the circus of a trial. He was acquitted of molesting a different boy in 2005. In 2006, Chandler's son accused his father of attacking him with a barbell, choking him and spraying his face with Mace. The charges were later dropped. http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/11/18/2009-11-18_dad_of_jacko_molest_accuser_kills_self_in_swanky_jersey_pad.html

Whats more productive than witnessing your son film a movie? We have to remember he's a family man before any career aspirations. I agree with BW. Wait a moment, did I say that?

Thanks for that Ash!
