Willow Takes On Dad Will Smith At The Box Office
On July 2, the Smith family is facing off for the box office crown.
Seven-year-old Willow Smith hits theatres July 2 in “Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl,” the same time dad Will’s new one, “Hancock” opens.
And according to Willow, her father already has some bad news.
“He said, ‘Sorry baby, but I got to stomp on you,’” Willow told Access.
Though she is the littlest Smith, Willow said she isn’t prepared to give up, despite her dad’s box office prowess – his past releases over the holiday weekend “Independence Day,” in 1996, and “Men In Black,” in 2000, topped the box office and the time period ended up nicknamed “Big Willie Weekend.”
If it’s up to Willow, the holiday weekend will be re-christened, “Big Willow Weekend,” possibly.
“He thinks he is going to be beat me, but I think not,” the plucky little lady stated. “I think I am going to beat him.”
And Willow has an ace up her sleeve — her performance in “Kitt Kittredge” benefited from a little coaching from her dad.
“He told me ‘Feel the moment,’” she said. “He is a really good actor. Sometimes he really feels the moment and sometimes he doesn’t and sometimes it just messes up the whole thing.”
