  1. What Are They Up To? Tatyana Ali of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Tatyana Ali got her break on the series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as Ashley Banks. She portrayed the daughter of Philip Banks (James Avery), the sister of Hilary, Carlton, and Nicky, and Will Smith's younger cousin. Throughout the series, her father tried to meddle in her life so she didn't became anything like regular teenagers. However, she became fascinated with Will's exciting and liberated lifestyle, which eventually turned her into a rebel. After all the mischief, she was able to gain a sense of maturity and decided to attend a performing arts school by the end of the series. In the coming months, the 28-year-old actress will be featured in several drama films and will be reprising her role in a comedy sequel. On September 5, the former Prince of Bel-Air actress will be returning to the big screen with Nora's Hair Salon II, a follow-up on the 2004 independent comedy film written by Chanel Capra and Jean-Claude La Marre. Once again, she'll be playing Lilliana, along with La Marre, Bobby Brown and Stacey Dash. Moreover, Tatyana Ali will be featured in Hotel California, a film about loyalty, betrayal and revenge. She stars as Jessie in a story about a man who returns with an explosive encounter with his former partners in a rundown hotel to reclaim what is rightfully his. The movie stars Raymond J. Barry (Born on the Fourth of July) and Erik Palladino (ER). Following Prince of Bel-Air, Tatyana Ali briefly focused her attention to her singing career. Marking her musical debut was the album Kiss the Sky, which was released in 1998. Though her album spawned several hit singles and even became gold in early 1999, she became more active in the field of acting, and pursued TV and movie projects. Some of her credits included Kiss the Girls, The List, and Glory Road. Most recently, she appeared in the short films Wilted, How To Have A Girl, The Malibu Myth and First Sight, which were showcased on the reality show On the Lot. http://www.buddytv.com/articles/the-fresh-...na-al-9073.aspx

  6. In a world where the 105 closes for filming... Your quest to get to LAX this weekend could be complicated by the shooting of a Will Smith film. By Andrea Woodhouse Staff Writer Travelers hoping to hit the Century (105) Freeway this weekend will have only a short window between explosions, gunshots and helicopter flyovers. Columbia Pictures expects to close the highway's eastbound lanes for much of this weekend and next to shoot an elaborate, pyrotechnic-filled police chase sequence for the upcoming action film "John Hancock." El Segundo or Los Angeles International Airport-bound drivers will be forced to use detours when production on the Will Smith flick shuts down a 11/2-mile stretch of the freeway from Sepulveda to La Cienega boulevards from 3 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, said location manager Jonathan Hook. Westbound lanes will remain open, but the California Highway Patrol will use rolling breaks to control traffic. LAX advises motorists to expect minor, intermittent delays and allow for "extra traveling time" during both weekends, said airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles. Imperial Highway and the Aviation Boulevard on-ramp to the eastbound Century Freeway will remain open, with intermittent breaks when the film crew shoots scenes, which should be limited to about six minutes, Castles said. Those driving south on Sepulveda Boulevard from the Westchester area won't be affected, she said. El Segundo police officers will stand by to manage any traffic snarls, Mayor Kelly McDowell said. "Filming is a fact of life," he said. "I'm relieved it's on a weekend because it will help minimize the impact on commuters. But because of extensive closures, there's a potential to disrupt traffic in El Segundo and going to and from the airport." Instead of a taking a detour, film fans might try for a glimpse of Hollywood magic on the freeway. The shoot involves a high-speed car chase in which police officers pursue gun-shooting gang members as two news helicopters fly overhead, and a subsequent car crash, production notes state. According to IMDB.com, "John Hancock" is about a "hard-living" superhero, played by Smith, who has fallen out of the public's favor. A PR man played by Jason Bateman tries to repair Hancock's image, but the embattled superhero takes up with Bateman's wife, played by Charlize Theron. In one scene to be aided by computer effects, Hancock swoops in over LAX to assist the police but instead crashes into a freeway sign. The movie is set to open in July 2008. The eastbound Century Freeway is a film-studio favorite. Twentieth Century Fox closed it on two weekends to shoot "Live Free or Die Hard." http://www.dailybreeze.com/news/articles/9214451.html

  9. Will Smith's Protege K. Smith Makes His Debut With 'Better Man' Featuring Omarion New Rapper From Philly Performs On The Russ Parr Back To School Tour NEW YORK, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Will Smith became the first rapper to win a Grammy in 1998, and now nearly a decade later, his nephew K. Smith is following in his footsteps with his debut single "Better Man" featuring Omarion. The song is heating up radio and video outlets across the country (video directed by Omarion's manager Chris Stokes), and now K. Smith is introducing himself on his first tour, the Russ Parr Back To School Tour which kicked off August 3rd in Detroit and continues through August 17th in Washington, D.C. The seventeen-year old rapper is proving he's a magnetic performer as he shares the stage with several stars including Chris Brown. K. Smith is signed to a joint venture between Will's Overbrook Entertainment and The Coalition, the firm which launched the careers of Eve and Fat Joe. Smith's influences include LL Cool J and 50 Cent, and he's developed his own distinctive flow which he displays on "Better Man" and his first album "Streetz To Hollywood" due to be released early in 2008. This electric new hip-hop artist co-wrote "Better Man," and he worked on his debut CD with proven hit makers Mike City (whose credits include Usher, Jamie Foxx, Chris Brown and Rihanna) and Trackmasters (known for their productions with Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G., R. Kelly, and Jay-Z). Check out K. 11. Have your say: What do you think is the secret of male sex appeal? Forget twinkling eyes, a nice smile or expensive aftershave. It seems the secret of male sex appeal may come down to a simple calculation. According to palaeontologists, the dimensions of the region between the mouth and the eyebrows are crucial in determining how attractive a man's face appears to the opposite sex. Research carried out at the Natural History Museum found that, at puberty, the height of the upper face - the area between the lip and the brow - develops differently in men and women. Men have evolved short faces between the brow and upper lip, which makes their jaws appear larger, their cheeks more flared, and their eyebrows more pronounced. Unlike other facial features, however, the difference "in upper facial height" cannot be explained in terms of men being bigger than women. Researchers believe men have evolved the features because they appear more masculine. Dr Eleanor Weston, a palaeontologist from the museum, examined 68 male and 53 female skulls from the University of Witwaterstrand in South Africa. She said: "We divided the distance between the brow and upper lip, by the width of the face. The lower the result, the more masculine the appearance of the face. "It is difficult to explain why men have evolved shorter, broader faces, if it is not because women find them more attractive." As the male face has become shorter and broader, the canine teeth have shrunk, so men look less threatening and more attractive to mates. Miss Weston said further research was needed but added that in initial tests using photographs of male celebrities, the actor Will Smith came top of the masculinity list. The top 10 masculine men, according to the calculation, were: 1 Will Smith 2 Peter Andre 3 Justin Timberlake 4 Big Brother's Liam 5 Thierry Henry 6 Brad Pitt 7 David Beckham 8 Johnny Depp 9 Kanye West 10 Big Brother's Ziggy http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../14/wsex114.xml

  13. Will and Charlize battle it out shooting their latest film It was a case of lights, camera and most certainly action for Will Smith and Charlize Theron this week as the duo got down to shooting their latest big screen offering in Los Angeles. The pair grappled with each other during a fight scene on the set of Hancock while effects team-assisted rain fell down in the summer heat. The comic book-inspired film tells the story of a superhero - played by 38-year-old Will - who has fallen from grace. He enlists the help of a PR expert to improve his image, but in the process finds himself tangled up in a tempestuous relationship with his guru's wife, portrayed by Oscar-winning Monster star Charlize. Though cinemagoers will have to wait until next July to see the finished product, shooting means that the residents of LA have already been treated to a sneak preview of some of the scenes that will end up on the silver screen – including one exciting episode which saw Will suspended from wires high above the streets. http://www.hellomagazine.com/film/2007/08/...smith-charlize/ :wickedwisdom:

  17. Will Smith’s Been Shot! http://www.imnotobsessed.com/more/will-smith-shot-movie.jpg And look how happy he is about it! Here are some more behind the scene pictures from Will Smith’s latest movie, John Hancock. I actually feel guilty about posting so many pictures from the set. I feel like we are learning too much about the plot. First we saw the car scene and now this. http://www.imnotobsessed.com/2007/08/09/wi...iths-been-shot/
  18. Will Smith Gives Out His John Hancock It seems like you all have been enjoying the recent photos of Will Smith, so here's a few more for your viewing pleasure. With none of his costars by his side, Will was looking every bit the leading man (and super beefcake) taking some time out on the set of John Hancock to give out some John Hancocks to awaiting fans in LA yesterday. Will's come a long way since Fresh Prince of Bel Air but dare I say he looks better than ever? http://popsugar.com/505921 Will Smith's John Hancock, Preview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoZNFLfTtBc :yeah:

  20. Rev. Al Sharpton must have some serious man-love right now for Will Smith. Raise your hand if you remember the Fresh Prince. I'm not talking about the goofy guy from Bel Air, I'm talking about the kid who hung with DJ Jazzy Jeff and gave a generation of rap fans some of the most original and whimsical tracks ever recorded. The Fresh Prince didn't need cussing, womanizing or gang-banging to sell his albums or image, and look what happened: he ended up being one of Hollywood's hottest commodities in the mid to late 1990s. In case you missed it, that same kid -- now grown up and known better as Will Smith -- released his newest album, "Lost and Found," in 2005. The album released during a time when hip-hop music was rife with unoriginality, vulgarity and crudeness, so "Lost and Found" was a definite breath of Fresh Air. This past spring I rediscovered my copy of the CD, brushed off the dust and have since given it regular rotation in my car. I bring this up not as a means of aging myself, but as a way to drive home the importance of Rev. Sharpton's latest crusade. Yesterday, Rev. Sharpton called for hip-hop artists to clean up their act, to stop using the "n-word" and to refrain from demeaning women in their lyrics and videos. Will Smith would be proud. For that matter, so would Bill Cosby. At some point, a relevant, public figure in the African-American community had to say something about the atrocity that rap music is committing on our airwaves and in the minds of America's youth. Rev. Sharpton, to his credit, did just that. One could say Smith's "Lost and Found" was different just for the sake of being different, maybe even to sell a few extra albums. But when you look at Smith's track record, he really is a different kind of artist, and he holds a different set of standards and morals than most of today's hip-hop crowd. However, he'd been gone from the hip-hop scene for so long that many people overlooked the album and thus missed out on its important themes and messages. Likewise, Bill Cosby has said multiple times that today's teens and 20-somethings, fueled by the imagery promoted in hip-hop music, are themselves responsible for perpetuating certain stereotypes about the African-American community. Although harsh, Cosby's basic tenets are relatively logical. But like Will Smith, Cosby is often perceived as "too 1980s" or worse yet, as a "crazy old man," and thus his opinions are dismissed. But Rev. Al Sharpton, by calling out the hip-hop community and demanding it hold itself to a higher standard, has infused Smith's and Cosby's "mission" with a sense of relevance. With Sharpton calling for the same basic changes as Smith and Cosby, their message may finally take hold. Before hip-hop had Young Jeezy, it had Young MC. Before it had Ludacris, it had Kool Moe Dee. Before it had radio edits and explicit-lyrics labels, it had good beats, creative themes and clean language. In essence, it was an honest-to-God art form, not a misused platform to talk wantonly about liquor, guns and sex. "But hip-hop is popular, and it's selling more albums than ever." That's true, and it makes Sharpton's, Cosby's and Smith's message all the more important. If hip-hop cleans up its act, if it can preach professionalism rather than pimping, if it can espouse morals rather than marijuana, a large part of society will change its tune. Almost all of America's youth listen to hip-hop. In turn, if hip-hop artists return some of the decency they had during the 1980s and 1990s, almost all of America's youth could eventually aspire to (gasp) be moral, professional adults. When was the last time you talked to a teen who wanted to be a doctor? A lawyer? A government official? The change is societal, but it's also a matter of what kids are taught it means to be a "role model." Hip-hop artists can't be blamed solely for creating society's problems, much like they can't change society on their own. But with hip-hop being such a large part of American culture, isn't it time for the hip-hop lyrics and videos to present something more, something inspirational and aspirational? Rev. Al Sharpton's call to clean up hip-hop gives credibility to a message that less-prominent voices have been preaching for years. Raise your hand if you want to see more kids aspiring to great careers, great families and great relationships with members of the opposite sex. Now, give Rev. Sharpton a hand for speaking up and sending the hip-hop industry a message that's been long overdue for a relevant spokesperson. -- Jonas Allen http://www.dailygame.net/news/archives/006476.php
