"The Dark Knight" has become the most successful winner at the 35th People's Choice Awards. On Wednesday, January 7, the Christopher Nolan-directed superhero movie collected the most kudos, bringing home three prizes, including Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie.
The sequel to "Batman Begins" also received an award for its two leading actors, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, for their on-screen match-up. Aside from the Favorite On-Screen Match-Up prize, Bale, who portrays the bat-costumed superhero Batman as well as his alter ego Bruce Wayne in the action movie, has also nabbed a Favorite Superhero title.
"Dark Knight" multiple awards collection from People's Choice was followed by "The Secret Life of Bees" and Will Smith with two kudos each. "Secret Life", which has just got 8 nominations from the 40th NAACP Image Awards, has collected the most votes for Favorite Movie Drama and Favorite Independent Movie, while Smith was named male movie star and male action star favorite.
Other winners included "Wall-E", which won the Favorite Family Movie prize, and "27 Dresses", which earned a Favorite Movie Comedy title. In addition, Brad Pitt, Adam Sandler, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, Angelina Jolie and Tina Fey have also been awarded with a Favorite title in the performers category from Favorite Leading Man to Favorite Funny Female Star.
The winners announcement was aired live on the CBS Television Network from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with Queen Latifah serving as the show's host. The awards also recognizes the people and the work of popular culture, including in music and in television categories.
