1. Just because Will didnt make a song for him, doesn't mean he dont love him or love him any lesser. Jaden also had an interlude before "Wild Wild West" on Willenium and that was like a mock-Sony type of thing. haha. Kinda like when Eminem got his kid to diss another rapper (I think it was Ja Rule...but i could be wrong). Personally I don't like when he brings family onto the album. Just do his thing and keep the family off the album.
2. First off, I wouldn't have chosen "1,000 kisses"....ill tell ya that The first REAL single should've been "How Da Beat Goes". - Plain and simple this song is a hit. Just by the beat and the whole song is just one of them party songs that is all over mainstream and stuff. Second Single should've been "Give Me Tonite" - Really reminds me of a Kanye West song and the lyrics are just great and every guy can relate too. Also has a party feel to it as well. Third Single - Tie between "Act Like You Know" and "Block Party". Block Party has a real summertime vibe to it and Act Like You Know is like a pre-Give Me Tonite. somewhat. lol. Those songs should've been singles. Will shoulda performed them live like at the MTV and NYC shows in 2002. I know he did "Act like you know" but he shouldn't have done "I Can't Stop".
3. Or you could pay for the ads in Google and stuff.....but I'm not sure if you really wanna do that.
4. Yup, Jeff always will post there from time to time on the latest updates with what hes doing musically.
5. Is Willenium a failure in terms of mainstream success? I mean it went double platinum in a day but it seems like after the New Year turned, there was no promotion of anything just by reading reviews and all that. It wasn't nearly as sucessful as BWS, but was it a failure? What u think?
6. see how bad his singles represent him?! lol....well the post-97 ones...
7. Yeah, I kinda wish Will was like 2pac...lyrically better. Not controversal though but whatever he does, chances are I'm definatly gonna like it no matter what. Alot of people ask me, "well, what does Will Smith rap about?" ..."he doesnt really rap about anything"....ive also read it in some reviews and I still havent been able to answer.
8. I guess maybe thats a makeup for his so called "TRL appearance". cool tho.
9.
rest in peace
What do you mean by that?
10. All his albums are good but people are too brainwashed to know what real music is.
11. I agree with Julie. This album will be Will's make or break album. I think the reason why Will isn't known for being lyricall great is all of the singles released from Columbia. You got to have some type of meaningful song released. Yeah "Just the two of us" was meaningful yet I know I don't bump to that when playing it. Also all 3 of is albums have been led by soundtrack songs. Yeah I like most of them but they are not album material except "Just Cruisin". Columbia should've released "Give Me Tonite" (which sounds like a Kanye West song) and "How Da Beat Goes" (Amazing how this song wasn't released.)They just gave up on the album alltogether. 1,000 kisses was released yet it dont think was a wise choice. Its a nice breezy hip-hop song yet it shouldn't have been released. I think Will needs to adapt to the music style again like he did with "Homebase" and "Code Red". Seems like the style out now is that "crunk" style. But whatever Will does will no doubt be good. I'm amazed at LL. I think he's been more successful then Will in music. LL just keeps rollin' even while doing movies. Will takes too long of a break too release music. Well it seems like that. I'm just too impatient.
12. Also, Will is not known as a lyrical king like 2pac and LL....more known as a hollywood crossover POP star - not rap. What an image Will must erase to better establish his name.
13. Even with all this good news about him doing this and that with his music, does anyone here think he can successfully make another smash hit album in the mainstream again? I'm here learning about LL Cool J and he's been in the game for almost 20 years like Will yet LL is doing so much better. I think Will should sign with DefJam, they don't seem to give up on LL even though he might be "too old" even though hes just 34. Being mainstream doesn't only count to me, of course I desperatly want a new album over any popularity but it would be nice to see Will (go back as JJFP) and rock the charts and be a smash all over MTV yet it seems like nobody likes him as a musician anymore. Well the people around me and my generation anyway. I don't know what the hell I'm thinking, just desperate for music with tons of thoughts on my mind.
14. Or maybe Sony is secretly paying MTV and VH1 and all the media not to pay attention to Will's music...you never know. I wouldn't doubt it. Them damn idiots. Will would love to come on TRL. He's always happy everytime and never complains.
15. WHAT THE HELL? Its 20 min from the show being over and they haven't menchoned him at all being on the show and just two days ago they had him scheduled yet now its all about Matt Damon. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? DAMNIT
16. that interview does sound very E! ....so jealous. Will was a good kid. lol.
17. nice to know Will does things like this reminds me of "Voices that care"....y'all remember that.
18. great interview....thanks! wish you could make the sound way way better
19. ahh someone please watch it!!!!!!! let us know RIGHT AFTER its over cuz i gotta goto work then my grandparents for dinner....damnit!
20. Very interesting....hey AJ, tell that guy to join this board!
21. break dancing? haha i betcha it was dumb dancin haha
22. hey two years ago they used Boom! Shake the Room on some pop tarts commercial here in the US. I remember it! It was like some party outside and they were eating pop tarts. lol.
23. I don't get that, why does he rap "Miami" in NYC??? He did that too in Summer 02 on the Today Show performance live. Thats still on MSN i think. He shoulda did Jiggy or Summertime. Nice to know he still does shows and raps.
24.
From a lyricist's point of view it's the weakest FP album 'cause there was too much of Tra-Knox on it and not enough rhymin', but at the same time though the envelope was pushed when no other albums recently sound like that so you gotta give him credit for being creative! I personally rather hear him sing than a lot of other rappers that try to sing! But seriously though his next album has to be going back to the lyricism like when he started his career, songs like "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" where he's freestylin' and Jazzy Jeff is cuttin' would be deadly to these young cats out right now!
I'm feeling Born to Reign right now though, I actually can listen to "I Can't Stop" without cringing...lol...I love "Give Me Tonite" that sounds like the type of song Kanye West would do. Great song. However, I love Big Willie Style because it totally proves that Will can rap. Even though it maybe egotistical, its a great rhymining album to let these cats know that Will has still got it coming back off a 4 years hiatus from 1993's Code Red. Theres some meaningful stuff though on that CD, I love "Candy"...that sounds like though 2pac's "All About U"...hmm....every sing on Big Willie Style I like...my least fav track is "Just the two of us". Other than that, I can listen perfectly through that CD.
