2Pac "Cross The Line: Celebration Or Exploitation?"
DevilsJim89 replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Biggie is nothing compared to Pac. I have all 3 albums on my computer from Biggie and besides a few tracks from each, Biggie is garbage. I dont know why everyone raves about him. He isnt better than Pac and isnt one of the greatest of all-time. Just because he had one album that gained success then dies does not make him better than he really is. The one who comes close to Pac, or who is up there with Pac is Big L. He was a true underground cat who was helping launching other cats careers like Jay-Z. Big L had it all, its just a shame his life ended early as well. He was suppose to sign to Roca-fella records a few days after his death. Download the track "Deadly Combination" from Big L. It has Pac and Big L on a track they did together. I think I just read recently too this track was done on the night of the '94 shooting or in that same timeframe. I think I read that in XXL when I was in Borders, they had a huge Pac timeline. Real interesting. -
Wack Rapper #1 arrest 4 driving without a license
DevilsJim89 replied to Angel Amor's topic in Caught in the Middle
Midtown Manahattan, he is so lucky he didn't wreck himself although I woulda loved it if he did. Midtown Manhattan theres traffic all over and at night. NYC = the city that dont sleep. People are always crossing the streets with cars coming and taxis going everywhere. Lane changes is dangerous. Someone please remind me why LL Cool J is wasting his time with 50? Ridiculous. -
I love "Just Cruisin" as well. I love chillin and relaxing to it as I drive along in my whip. The Remix is also dope. Real watered down and its like you have the original song for the day and the remix when cruisin at night haha. idk why i think like that lol.

wack rapper #1's Next Target: Puffy?
DevilsJim89 replied to TopDawg14's topic in Caught in the Middle
Well I wonder who wrote that for him... Can we please get rid of these censors too. I'm having a hard time understanding who is who. -
I have two different feelings about this. First and foremost, Def Jam does need better artists and better promotion. I dont think Jay-Z should be running it. Number two, LL is disappointing me even more. Hes a rap veteran - shouldn't be hanging with 50. LL is becoming a sellout. Hes so much smarter than that but its so clear that hes using 50 to bolster his career even more. I swear to God, if he signs to G-Unit, I'm done. A young LL from Queens back in the day is much different than a wack rapper #1 from Queens. Two completely different rappers. LL is respected veteran, 50 is an upcoming crap rapper.

I have some requests... LL Cool J - Summer Luv - off the "Loungin" single LL Cool J - Stand By Your Man - any remixes such as the video version and what not THANKS!

It was the beginning of the early days of rap becoming commercial. Hence, JJ+FP "expanding the platform". A 1-900 Hotline would definitly bring in some extra cash. It helped though since "And In This Corner" fell short of platinum.

This is pretty interesting. At least we know the name of one of the tracks. Diddy is just pretty dumb. He knews "Born to Reign" didn't do any damage on the charts and thought fans were done with Will. If it was a party joint like Lerk said, than it definitly would've kept fans entertained and maybe "Lost & Found" would've dropped in 04 like it was suppose to. "Let Me Find Out" would've/could've been a hit just like "Shake Ya Tailfeather" and it would've open the door for "Switch" and then "Lost & Found". So many "What IFs" ..its just hard to tell anymore. Just looking at Diddy you can tell what hes all about - all about the benjamins. Screw him, he has no rap credibility anyway. Someone should definitly see if Kel has the track though. Who knows he just might. Maybe he'd call FP and tell him some real fans are hungry for unreleased material. ha - like that'd ever happen. Oh and Julie - I was also disappointed that Diddy screwed Will off the tracks. I think Diddy is just overall jealous of FP and i remember I started a topic about it a long time ago - but thats a whole other story.

So how long till Will's next album?
DevilsJim89 replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
It would be a fantastic idea for Will to get a "real" myspace page and it would definitly help keep fans interested. However though, I wouldn't care if Will went underground, there's some mainstream artists who drop mixtapes for the underground circuits. It wouldn't hurt Will at all. I'm going to take back what I said though and go on to say that FP will drop something this year hopefully. Its 20 years, JJ+FP are smart enough to release something to mark it. Who knows, time will only tell. Just this whole 3 years between albums is poor. Thats what hurts Will the most. Consistency is a key not only in rhyming but in dropping albums and keeping fans interested. -

DevilsJim89 replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I think sometime next year we will hear something new. Will gets so lazy with music during the 3 year period and its always called a "comeback". I hope he drops an album later this year or next year. Every 1-2 years is the way to go. -
99 cents what a waste - it costs more to ship it then it does for the CD itself - nobody will buy it man, sorry.

This is based on a true story of two survivors - just the way they survive and what they go through is absolutely truely uplifting - which what could be said for all the survivors of that day.
-
I think alot of you guys missed the point of this post. 9/11 definitly touched us all. However, this isnt a "Romantic" movie - its not suppose to be. It's the story of two ACTUAL survivors of Port Authority police and the movie is seen through their eyes and what them along with many police and firefighters, other workers had to do. As they go into the buildings, you go with them. Everyone should just go see it and trip over something they aint seen. It's just like music, how could you say its wack if you never heard it. There's been documentarys on TV and what not. Goto YouTube and watch one then. Oliver Stone is telling a story - just go see it. You'll be glad you did.
-
I did do damage on the charts - Top 10 US I believe but it went to #1 in the UK. Remember in '93 though, gangsta rap clogged mainstream rap which forced alot of cats out of the picture. So even though people we're digging the track - Code Red the album - was certified Gold (BARELY) and just died after "Boom". "I'm Looking for the One" I dont think did anything nor did "I Wanna Rock".
-
FP himself said in late 2001 on the Big Boy radio show in LA that "Boom Shake the Room" was one track he wish he never recorded. I however, love the track. So much energy and adreanaline on that track - its great for mainstream status.

I just came back from the late night showing of Oliver Stone's WORLD TRADE CENTER movie. Everybody must see this movie. It isn't a documentary, it isnt a movie based on the day of 9/11 - it's about two survivors who worked for Port Authority Police for New York/New Jersey. It's not like the perspective we all had of seeing it on TV. This movie takes you into the eyes of those brave cops who went into the towers and got crushed 20 feet underneath. It's about survival and staying together as one, helping each other out. This movie is probably in my book - the movie of the year. It's heart-warming and it'll make you cry. I know I cried. Let me just say too that I didn't know anyone who was involved with 9/11 from victims to police. It didn't directly affect me like some people but it taught me how a lot about people and after seeing this movie, it makes me feel for those who were lost and the people affected. Bottom line: MUST SEE MOVIE.
