I think that if Will does go big again, the record will be something of a "sleeper hit", But if Myspace is still around in 2-3 years, there needs to be a Will official myspace, and with promotion of it, that will really help Will.

NYC Offcials want stop segregated Survivor
sonic1988 replied to Angel Amor's topic in Caught in the Middle
Oh great, let's just give the black tribe chicken, the hispanic tribe rice and beans, and the asian tribe chopsticks. That's not enforcing racial stereotypes. Jeez, we had a war over crap like this. -
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14489259/?GT1=8404 Scientists have voted and say that Pluto is officially not a planet anymore, but later in the atricle someone suggests that the decision will be overturned...those guys must be really bored.

according to the documentary (the last clip) they say something about how the beasties were sick and tired of having to be the guys who would do all the jokes. They wanted to mature, but since they were making the most money for Def Jam at the time, Def Jam didn't want them to change. I guess that's the reason.

I forund this on youtube, from all the clips that have been uploaded so far, the special is basically their beginnings and into the point where they left Def Jam records. part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8ugsvEe-_U part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CR5b2J0uWTM part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDY1XlbtNi4 part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN-3qnIuNkg part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlbI6IOGB30

Do you think Will cares too much about sales?
sonic1988 replied to sonic1988's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I think you are probably right about that, Will probably wants to get BWS sales again and do a full blown tour. He may be missing that That is a good point as well, If positive rap sells a lot then that means there's and audience for it. yeah, that's true also. Every artist wants their album to make it to number 1 Will just playing their game and showing how with positive stuff u can still make good sales and to make them pshhhhhh :wiggle: ... i think every single artist cares about sales less or more , i mean this is his job and for Will 2 but i dont think he cares too much ,especially lately , Will is just doing his stuff yeah, that is true, I think he lately cares more about the box office than record sales I totally think the opposite about that, this album was an effort to compete with the other commercial rap albums out at that time, he was singing on a lot of the songs like Ja Rule and Nelly were doing, he was probably aiming for their audience, it was a failed effort 'cause Columbia didn't release anything, sure it wasn't that great of an album but not many great albums were selling then/selling now, quality of music has nothing to do with sales in my view, if anything gets marketed and promoted enough it could sell in the music industry, I honestly don't understand Will's view on sales sometimes 'cause he says different things all the time on it, he said in an interview before that he don't mind if people download his music but then goes on "Switch" and says "don't download go out and buy the record", then he says around the BET Awards that he don't care about sales but then since "Lost and Found" didn't sell that much he gives up on music for the last year basically and is just focused on films again, I don't know man... :ponder: That was more of a joke point. but you are right, Will changes his mind on some views in this area. But you are very right about anything being promoted will sell. I did hear that if you listen to a song you hate enough you will end up liking it somewhat. But if Will did a real tour, his records would sell more and more. -
some video blogger named "Lonelygirl" is famous or something and this guy made a rap that said she sucks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AX3aSeHwf7A then another blogger made their rap saying that guy sucks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQO3K8BcyGM it was bound to happen sooner or later

While I was writing in the "next album" thread, I was thinking "Does Will care too much about sales?" A lot of you were saying that he should go underground. I think that would be cool, but in a way Will sort of wants to make records more for the sales rather than for quality (if you think that sounds mean just pop in track 3 on B2R and wait for the chorus) Its obvious that he should get back together with Jeff and just do some straight JJFP especially for the 20 year anniversary. But I'll just put up a few points to show what I've observed: he cares about sales: *talks about them in rhymes *changed his style for L&F, but the singles were only the BWS style tracks *promotes on MTV, and didn't really try to stop people from milking switch he doesn't care about sales: *sticks to what he says (i.e. doesn't curse) *did change his style for L&F, and that could have turned some people off *let B2R be released (okay fine, THAT was mean, :P) I think what Will said back in the Homebase era was best: "Well, we changed our style for this album is because our audience grew like we did and they would like this style more." (I paraphrased) I think Will's solo stuff should also change with his audience in a similar fashion, and L&F is a good start, but I want to see that continue.

Yeah, Will has to stay on the music scene, even if its little things, he really should do more live stuff and be something more of a "real musician". I mean let's say he's filming a movie in NYC, there are a bunch of clubs he can do a gig or two in right after shooting is done, hell he could still probably pack the garden, or he would definitely sell out the Hammerstein Ballroom (the place where WWF Raw used to be done live, back in the day). Or if he films in LA do a show or two over there. A myspace would also help as well. But since it has been 20 years Will should at the very least release a b-side collection (something like "everything in time" by No Doubt) or unreleased tracks.

All I'm gonna say is that Will looked pissed after the first take, lol

:word: most t-shirts are orbiting the 20 dollar mark, and the popular bands charge more. But the design is well done and the shirt itself is nice as well, the cotton has a nice feel to it. Its good stuff.

you are right, Kev. Why Jeff won't come to NYC....I'll never know

Yes, this movie is romanticizing what occured, in the same fashion the press did for a good year after the event. The documentraly I speak of it wbout two ACTUAL film makers who were there, and went into the ACTUAL buildings with ACTUAL firefighters. The documentary is with the firefighters through everything in the documentary. And by what you mean by saying "its like music, how can you say its wack when you never heard it". I didn't need to hear it or see it, I lived it! Its like your sister being raped and a rapper makes a song about it, would you want to hear that? I had to walk through all that crap that day in order to get home, I survived, got a horrible sore throat for a week due to all the dust I inhaled, and have been traumatized by what I saw (at the age of 12 no less) and have thought about what happened EVERY DAY since it happened, like a horrible recurring nightmare....what's so uplifitng about that? I mean, I'm not suprized that a lot of people on the board want to see it, because it didn't happen for you. I know Tim said he wants to see it, and I supose that's fine, I'm not his dad, I'm not going to tell him what to do, but I do ask all of you to see 9/11 the documentary to see what really did happen, see true heroism, from the real people. Yes, there were two pert authority officers who were rescued like in the Stone film, but that movie is sensationalized and made to be dramatic. If you wish to see Stone's version, go ahead, but to truly experience the non-computer generated version and the actual heroism, you should see 9/11.

No thanks, I saw the original FIRST HAND. First off, that day WASN'T ROMANTIC the way the movie portrays it, it was a gritty bloody awful day. If you wan to see a movie about that day just watch the movie 9/11. That was a documentary about that day, two filmmakers were with the firefighters who first responded and saw the first plane crash into the north tower. 9/11 is a film that someone should see if you want to know about what happened. Not some hollywood version by Oliver Stone.
