50 Cent says Kanye West was wrong to criticise Bush
MaxFly replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
He was most likely asked a question and responded to it. "50, what do you think of Kanye's statement about President Bush concerning hurricane Katrina?" Something like that... Yeah... like 4 days late... -
While portable video players will largely be for entertainment, I can defintely see a few future applications for times of emergency. If in the near future we can get high speed broadband to cell phones and have improved video capabilities on such devices, video notification and instructions can be sent to citizens during times of heightened emergency like a terrorist attack, a black out, or a natural disaster. Audio can be sent to those on the road indicating that there is a car accident ahead, providing information for alternate routes, helping to clear the road for emergency vehicles. The daily news can be viewed alerting people of important developments in their region or around the world. Again, I'm referring to the advent of portable video technology itself, not just the ability to watch television shows or movies on a device. The answer to your question is yes, in the case of an emergency, I would like to get a news feed and/or video instructions on a portable video device.

As always, practicality comes into play. Those who often travel or utilize public transportation will be the ones first targeted by manufacturers and marketing teams. However, as is usually the case with nascent technology, a market will present itself in the general population sooner or later. As I pointed out in a previous post, with the emergence of WiMax, longer battery lives and bigger yet physically smaller hard drives, protable video will likely find it's way into your pockets at some point, most likely in the form of your cell phone or some such device... While price is a factor now, it's important to note that the technology is still in the early stages and with the virtues of supply and demand, prices will shift to accommodate a larger market. Also, in terms of actual use... ten, fifteen years ago, people generally got along fine without the use of a cell phone. Most people couldn't imagine any practical use for it that would justify the price of the phone and the cost of service in addition to their home land lines... Portable video definitely has the potential to evolve in the same way; perhaps not as a solitary device, but I can see the mixture of communications and video software and hardware in the future. In regards to dropping an expensive device... the best policy would be to try not to drop it. However, the risk would be the same as if you dropped your iPod or another portable mp3 player... It's the same thing people had to contend with back in the early 90s if they dropped their portable CD player... either make sure your warranty is still active or be careful.

What do others think? I bring it up because it seems that the natural evolution of personal technology will inevitably bring us more personal media. Video on cell phones, WiMax enabled devices for quick on the go downloads of news programs, the ability for cell phones and other devices to capture and save live over the air television, digital books. We're already able to browse the internet and text or instant message people with cell phones, but perhaps better integration of devices onto the net for direct access to media... Companies are working on nuclear powered batteries for long life and to service the more power hungry devices... personal technology is still on the move... it's pretty cool.

Well pathetic may be too strong a description...

Well the JJFP inundation was just an example, but the device are really for those who are commuting to work, school or what have you on public transportation, or who travel and would rather not lug around their laptop. It wouldn't be practical for walking around. Take for example the PSP. Why would anyone ever need a PSP when you can just get a play station 2 and play on a larger screen? Walking around with a PSP is just as practical as walking around with a PVP... you're likely to end up walking into people or walking into traffic. Both devices are built for those who often find themselves with time on their hands in places that are restrictive. 30 minute ride on the bus somewhere... some people pull out the PSPs. You'd be able to pull out your PVP and watch an entire episode of one of your favorite sitcoms, or in the very near future, read a digital book while listening to music at the same time on that one device.

The Diwali Riddim is sick in and of itself, and mixed with this track... wow... This is going into my personal archives... Good job Fresh Son.
-
So let me get this straight... If you guy could carry every episode of FPOBA, every JJFP/Will music video, put all of the JJFP/Will albums including all of the remixes on the device, and then carry 2 or 3 of his movies all at the same time... it would be a waste of money? I made this Will centric to get you guys thinking... By the way, the video iPod may be the Holiday gimmick this year, but PVPs in general have been around for about 2 years now.
-
So by now, everyone has heard of the new video iPod that will be coming out soon. What do you guys think of the whole portable video movement? Other companies such as RCA, Archos and Creative have put out quality portable video players as well.

VP Chief of Staff Libby indicted on 5 counts...
MaxFly replied to MaxFly's topic in Caught in the Middle
This actually isn't accurate. Even her neighbors and former college classmates weren't aware that she was a CIA agent. They believed that she was an energy analyst. One of her neighbors was called to testify and later appeared on The Situation with Tucker Carlson and expressed that he was asked whether he knew that she worked for the CIA. He said no, he had no idea, and he and other neighbors believed that she was simply an analyst. I'm not sure that I would characterize this as a whichhunt... Though we may hear a lot of rhetoric from both sides, a CIA agent's identity was leaked. Whether it was done purposefully or by accident is what is under investigation. Karl Rove is still under investigation, so there is still more information to come. When all is said and done, even if no one is indicted for conspicracy or the violating Identities Act, this all still reflects very negatively on this administration. Though the leak could have been a mistake and no crime committed, it was still highly irresponsible... especially on the part of an administration that prides itself on being firm on national defense. -
Indicted on 2 counts of perjury, 2 of false statements, 1 of obstruction of justice... Rove seems to have escaped for now. Though it is reported that he may have made false statements, they were inadvertent and were not done purposefully... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9837835/ http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/28/leak.probe/index.html Rove is still under investigation though...

And at the same time, theories that are discounted as impossibilities have had experiments showing them to be so. ID is in sort of a gray area. There's evidence pointing to the possibility, but there is no forseeable way to carry out experiments to prove it or disprove it... This is not unique in science. We still don't have ways to test some of Einstein's more advanced and nuanced theories of general relativity, and there is no indication that we will have a way in the future. Scientists are only hoping that with time, we will have the advanced methods that would be needed for such an experiment. That doesn't stop us from referring to general relativity. Well in referring to our current model, there is the precambrian debacle and other fossil evidence such as that of birds showing contradictions... You have the whole origin of life issue making it very difficult for life to begin in the ways we think it did. Inconsistensies and contradictions in radiometric dating, even using the same method and samples repeatedly... Lets put it like this... If evolution were fact as of right now... science wound't be arguing that ID is not scientific. It would be arguing that evolution is fact and that ID is false and has been proven so... no such luck for evolution though...

Harriet Miers withdraws as Supreme Court Nominee
MaxFly replied to MaxFly's topic in Caught in the Middle
Oh, that would be awesome but kinda scary through... Then again, you can't get scarier than Dick Cheney... Darth Sidious himself. Check out this clip of Cedric the Entertainer joking about Rice... -
Well it depends on what the definition of "is" is. Lol. But really, when we refer to the origin of life, we're talking about what possibly happened. Formation of amino acids or nucleic acids from early earth chemical reactions... we have no evidence of life originating in the ways science thinks it could have come to be... We're taking about possibilities. When we refer to hydrothermal vents, we have no evidence that this is how life came to be... We only have the possibility... 'Posibility' isn't such a bad thing... many of our theories are based on it. There is no evidence proving how life originated... but there are things that point to our current theories as "posibilities." When I say that science points to the possibility of an intelligent designer, I'm attempting to word the statement in the most accurate yet simple way possible. When science says that current evidence points to the possibility of original life starting first with the formation of amino acids, it is seeking to do the same. Incidentally, there is also quite a bit of evidence contradicting our current model of evolution.

They treated her so harshly... someone's poor grandmother. Possibly expect another thread like this tomorrow for Rove, Libby and whoever else has any level of complicity in the CIA leak. The Republicans should have stopped while they were ahead... Like three and a half years ago. -
Will definitely looks like he's been living on the street in that picture, but given the role he is playing... it looks like he's doing a good job getting into the character; probably too good a job.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9837151/ I feel bad for her... I really do. She didn't ask to be put in that position, and it's hard to say no to the President when he's asking you to serve on the Supreme Court. But....          That's rough... *edited for grammar

You know, I really don't like her... Your mom's the President of the United States... lighten up... geez.

I must say that while watching Commander in Cheif is quite entertaining... it has nothing... absolutely nothing on The West Wing. :jada: I'm mad that smiley is named "jada."

C-Span. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee was honoring Rosa Parks on the floor of the House.

The Sam Bowie pick was possibly the worst draft pick to date in the history of basketball. Not to say that Sam Bowie was a horrible player... but over Jordan... Sigh... Portland definitely wants a do-over.

:lolsign: That's something that Will woud do! Cough... Jada... Cough
-
 Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse...

Then all the black jokes would be a bit awkward wouldn't they...
