  1. Music piracy is definitely the reason for the decline in sales. The longer people wait to buy an album is the more likely they will be to just download the tracks, and as a result, not buy the album. For example, lets say I was a casual listener who heard Switch, but wasn't really feeling it, and then heard someone saying how hot Lost and Found was, I'm not going to go out and spend money to see if Lost and Found is hot. It's likely I would just download it to see how good the album is. So I download it, and it's a good album... now aside from integrity, what's the incentive for me to go out and buy the album now. I have all the music already and I have the technology to put it on a CD or another portable medium... I think this is what people forget when they say that letting sales decline is no big thing because a good single can bring sales back up again... In today's world, it doesn't necessarily work that way. After 5, 6, 7 months of an album being out, if a person doesn't already have it, it's unlikely that a casual or evern regular hip hop fan is going to go buy the CD, especially if it's easily available for free.
  2. I'm not sure where we're getting these numbers, but Lost and Found won't make it to 700k with just Switch. It's going to need Party Starter to make it that far. So really, the album will be making it to 700k off of 2 singles, not just Switch.
  3. We'll we've had the same single for going on 5 months now. 5 months ya'll. What do you expect. I have nothing more to say.
  4. All the sonic games have been classic. Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic and Knuckles... The old days be great.
  5. Welcome to the board. I love how this is like AA with everyone saying hello. "Hi, my name is X.N. Trick." "Hi, X.N. Trick!!!!"
  6. :shakehead: Where are all the people who are calling for patience and the milking of Switch? This just seems to be the radio though. It shouldn't be delayed on television, so at least your guys won't be completely destitute... hopefully.
  7. Well hopefully, this only applies to radio for you guys and not television. Incidentally, I can't understand why the DJ doesn't like the song. Did he elaborate, or is this just a Will Smith thing?
  8. Unfortunately, the "let's milk switch" people jinxed it, lol. Hopefully, this is only radio for you guys and it will be on the music video shows... hopefully.
  9. The information is almost definitely wrong. Party Starter has been getting spins on the radio and the radio edit has been sent out already. Now if radio stations were asked to hold off on it until October, with the video already shot and all of August for Will to promote it, it's a very questionable decision. This is exactly what I have been lobbying against. The longer something is pushed back or delayed, the more album sales drop and the harder it is for them to recover. If this happens to be true, Switch is going to completely drop of the charts with nothing by Will to replace it for quite some time, at least in the US. Switch is already dropping off the charts with nothing to replace it as we post. Even if we continued the course we are on now with Switch dropping and Party Starter increasing in spins... it will take 2 or 3 weeks for Party Stater to rise to the top 20 or 30.
  10. Here I go... Most people on this forum are fans of Will Smith. Not just the rapper, not just the actor, but the man himself. A lot of people admire what he stands for... family, integrity, kindness, and really really keeping it real. In keeping with this, I see the "serious" music as a natuaral extension of who he is. The listener can delve more into who Will Smith is in a song like Tell Me Why than they can in Gettin Jiggy Wit It. The serious music compels him to expose himself more and provide the listener with his interpretation of how he sees the world. You simply don't get that same insight into Will Smith in the party songs. As someone mentioned earlier, Party Starter is the perfect fusion of the two. Party music with a message. I personally don't want to see Will boxed into a specific genre of rap, but I do prefer the serious messages as it offers us a chance to see how Will thinks and what he thinks on certain topics, what's taking place in his life, etc...
  11. Sounds pretty interesting. Will seems to have his hand in just about everything lately.
  12. Lol, shouldn't this be on the caught in the middle forum... anyway, my two cents... I don't like Eminem because of his content. There are just some things you shouldn't say, even if you can say it. That describes the majority of content in his music. There is just so much you can blame on your childhood and upbringing before it really just becomes an excuse. Instead of lamenting about how you were treated, use that energy to affect change in the area that was devastated in your life. Go back to your old neighborhood and help those that you grew up with and that, those that are going through the same thing you went through when you were little. Use your music to project positive images, not to stir controversy or to put people down and attack them lyrically. Would that take away from his spins and his paper... of course, but at least he'd be contributing something positive to society instead of speaking words and projecting images of death and destruction into children's minds. Trying to live righteous Fighting for life thiis my life And That's why I go light on my vices Tightening the vices of truth on the ruthless It's rhymin' and the crime is their minds is just useless The path of the poison The genesis of the genocide You and your boys trying to decide What to write but your pen is a sword And the blade has been forged Young minds getting gorged States have been altered by liquor by weed And then hate gets exalted as art falls to greed Choices is made As the voices is layed On the track Contract your souls away You sold your rage
  13. Brakes has had his name mispelled a couple of times on this forum.
  14. As much as we may want to compare Nick's movie career to Will's, we have to take into account how early Nick actually began his TV and film career. Nick joined the cast of All that in 1997 when he was 17. Because Will had skipped his auditions for The Cosby Show, he began acting in 1990 on TFPOBA at the age of 21. In only 3-4 movies, Will began to have serious starring roles. Bad Boys, Independence Day... Unless you count drumline, Nick hasn't had a role that has brought him serious hollywood attention. At the age of 24, Will was doing better in, music, and television than Nick is doing at that age currently and was just really starting his film career since he had responsibilities of TFPOBA set. By age 27, Will had done Bad Boys, Independence Day, and was shooting Men In Black... all starring roles. The thing is, in 95, 96, 97... Will was the new hot thing... Nick Cannon's been around for a while, so while he may have more movies and experience under his belt at 24... Will managed to do it more quickly.
  15. Acctually it dosn't seem that way. what most artist do is relase 1 or 2 songs before thier CD drops. And that's enough promo for the CD. obviously he didn't do that ← He's been doing it for 20 years, so he's as close to knowing what he's doing as he can get. Lets see how thus unfolds...
  16. Yeah, that's sort of what I was looking for... I was hoping for Party Starter to get high on the charts while Switch was still doing well, just to emphasize that Will is still running things.
  17. Lol, that's what I was about to say. The cover definitely captures the feel of that second season just as the first cover captured the feel of the first season perfectly.
  18. I believe they update that list throughout the week don't they. We'll see either tomorrow or Friday. It doesn't make sense for it to start falling, even in the absence of a video.
  19. Yay for milking Switch... lol. I don't think the video has a choice but to come out soon. I guess this means that there was no Live 8 bounce... or perhaps will would have dropped even further if it wasn't for the Live 8... Yeah... Party Starter... it's about that time.
