  1. I'm not too concerned about a tour right now. He's making appearances in the UK, South Africa and so forth. He's moving around.
  2. As well as Switch is doing in the UK as a single, it's not helping Lost and Found in album sales. I think that's safe to say that. Most people don't read the reviews on albums, so it's understandable that most people will think, basing their opinions on what they've heard so far, that most of Lost and Found will sound like Switch. And while people may like Switch, they'll be content with just buying the single or hearing it in the club as opposed to going out and buying the whole album. You asked what the difference would be if Tell Me Why were released now and if it were released in 2 months, the same number of people would buy it. That's not entirely true. You have to take into account the fact that more artists will be releasing albums over the next few months. Initial sales are usually high, so it would be easy for Lost and Found, which was released at the end of March, to fade into obscurity over the summer if it doesn't have a single to keep it in the forefront. You don't want the album to dip, and then try to come back, dip once again, and then try to come back again. It's much smarter to keep it on a level selling path. This helps to keep interest in the album high. Chances are that after a significant dip, a single won't be able to help it recover. Keeping an album in the forefront helps it sell a lot more easily than allowing it to fade and then try to bring it back in 2 months. Switch has been on the US charts for 10 weeks. It's only been on the UK charts for 6 weeks. That's a month's difference. If Tell Me Why were released now in the US, theoretically, you guys in the UK wouldn't see it for a month and there would be no effect of Switch's performance on the charts for a month. However, if it is released in a month here in the US, the UK probably wouldn't see Tell Me Why until July. That's 2 months from now. I'm assuming that in 2 months, Switch will not be in the top 20 in the UK. In a month's time here in the US, Switch will not be in the top 30... That's a problem for the album. We want to keep a single from the album in the top 20 at least for the duration of the spring and the summer to ensure that interest in the album is constant.
  3. :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: Sad thing is that they probably do. But you're right. I know people want him to come back to music full time to save hip hop, but it's very doubtful that Will is going to start touring harder than what he's doing now. He is one of the top 5 movie stars on the planet right now. I don't think he's going to forsake that at this point. You have to realize that this is gigantic accomplishment for someone who started acting without any formal theatrical training, and it's something someone as ambitious as Will would only want to continue to work at. However, I'm sure that Will won't be abandoning music anytime soon.
  4. I think herein lies the misconception. No one is talking about getting rid of Switch or taking it out When an artist releases a new song, their previous songs aren't automatically taken off the charts, the radio stations, or the music television stations. Each song is treated separately with no real attention paid to the artist responsible. So when Tell Me Why is released, Switch will not be taken out of rotation. Just wanted to make that clear just in case anyone believed that this is the way it works. Secondly, with the numbers that have come out this week, does anyone still want to say that a Tell Me Why release should be delayed? Does anyone still want to contend that switch is helping the album to sell well?
  5. I feel what you're saying. I can agree with you in that I wish Will would be a little more into his music from here on out, as equally as he is with the films at least. I can feel that. But... Only one movie every three years is a bit extreme. You're talking about three movies a decade. Most top box office draws put out one or sometimes two movies a year. Will, outside of Tom Cruise is pretty much the biggest box office draw in Hollywood right now. He would be remiss, just from a professional standpoint, to give that up right now. You are also looking at this from a music perspective, but I'm sure there are many of his movie fans who would be devastated if he were to suddenly start doing movies infrequently. To appease everyone, I'd rather see something like two movies for every album. That would be an album about every year and a half. I also still maintain that I don't think Will is abandoning his music or this album by going back into movies. At this point, we really don't know what plans he's making for the release of future singles from this album or a future albums. We'll have to wait and see how he balances out the acting and the rapping.
  6. Lol, and we really really don't want a Born To Reign situation with the releases.
  7. That's a bit much if you mean nonstop. That means 2 or three years without a new movie... Will can still record inbetween films... perhaps even inbetween shooting... I'm content with that. If Will just does rap as a side project to movies, he might start releasing some wack s***, he needs to put full focus into his albums or else should just consider retiring now on top, but that'd be depressing to see him do movies and never rap again. He should try to get his Overbrook label more established too than what it is, he gotta sign some more mcs, producers, etc. with some new talent to carry the legacy on too, he shouldn't abandon hip-hop forever! I don't think Will will be abandoning hip hop anytime soon. About him possibly releasing wack music if he starts doing films again. That has no real basis. Look at Lost and Found. Will didn't have to take a year off to focus on the album. Even while working on other projects, he was in his music, focusing, writing lyrics for Lost and Found, even while he had I, Robot and Hitch in the works. Look how well Lost and Found turned out.
  8. No one should be saying that it's failure. I enjoy it too much for that. But for the very sake of hip hop, I do want it to do well. I'm not expecting it to outsell 50 or Game, but this album still has the potential to do very well regardless. There are too many possible hot tracks and potential hot singles for this album to be dropping so quickly. Also, the faster sales drop, the lower the chance of future videos being made. I don't think anyone wants that. I'm not talking about the apocalypse here. This isn't the be all and end all, but we are approaching a critical period for album sales. We don't want Lost and Found to drop out of the top 20.
  9. That's a bit much if you mean nonstop. That means 2 or three years without a new movie... Will can still record inbetween films... perhaps even inbetween shooting... I'm content with that.
  10. Lost and Found has dropped about 33% this week in US sales. Last week it dropped a little under 2%. Tell Me Why needs to be released. I rest my case.
  11. I'm pretty sure 50 cent will stop walmart Im pretty sure he wont. If it comes down to Walmart and 50, I'd move to a third world country and help Walmart with their outscourcing.
  12. Has it been dropping steadily? Could you provide the numbers for the 4 weeks it's been on the chart?
  13. This may be an Oscar nod. If this was affirmative action, I wouldn't be for this, but Pursuit of Happiness... I can dig it. At least we have Will until August... Hopefully, (and I love how I've managed to include this), that means Party Starter will be released sometime during the summer. I'm cool with it. :wiggle:
  14. Yeah, that was wishful thinking. People were just hating... not even having listened to Lost and Found or B. Coming yet.
  15. How much has Lost and Found climbed in the UK so far?
  16. Thank god for someone who understands me! I'm saying the exact same thing! My sentiments exactly... And even more... having Switch and Tell Me Why out at the same time will help the album more than having Tell Me Why come out after Switch drops into obscurity... The more people see Will on TV and hear him on the radio, the more publicity and advertising this will generate for Lost and Found. That's not to say Will should saturate the market with 4 or 5 songs like other artists, but while one song is on a downward trend which Switch is on as of this week (dropped 5 places on the billboard charts)... Will could have another song on an upward pace. Switch has also been dropping on iTunes. It's at number 7 now. I maintain that for the sake of Lost and Found... Will should release Tell Me Why soon. Swicth has been out for 2 and a half months. It's time to give it a companion on the charts.
  17. Good to hear that Will is still doing his appearances.
  18. Yeah... but right now, it's 11 am on the east coast.
  19. No, just for a few months...
  20. Yeah, I've read the "Jay biting" list on the IC. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt even though Nas did call him out on it. :poke: Nas (Ether) How many of Biggie's rhymes gonna come out your fat lip? Jay (What More Can I Say) I Say a Big verse, I'm only bigging up my brother...
