Switch has pretty much run its course. I don't think its numbers will increase greatly from here on out. I think Tell Me Why should definitely be released by the end of April. I believe it has longevity and will boost album sales for some time. Party Starter will be the summer anthem, no doubt about it. Party Starter should be released around mid to the end of June. When the hype around Tell Me Why and the album begins to die down, Party Starter will serve to start it up again... with a vengence. Come august, Pump Ya Brakes or I Wish I Made That can be released... if all this is done well and in a timely fashion, this album should be able to reach platinum by mid summer with no problem... We'll see...

http://getout.amarillo.com/content/outloud...willsmith.shtml If it's something new and fresh you seek in the hip hop genre, look no further. Will Smith has just the thing to put a spring in your step. "Lost and Found," Smith's latest album, is a refreshing change from the expected negative redundancy that seems to be plaguing hip hop artists nationwide. Listeners will be hard pressed to find any bad vibes from Smith on this disc, which is a rarity for those who play the rap game. Instead, we are treated to catchy tunes, such as "If U Can't Dance (Slide)" which easily conjures a grin with lyrics like, "Rule No. 4, out on the floor / don't be doing moves that don't nobody do no more / draw too much attention to be adventurous out on the floor / There's a reason that don't nobody do 'em no more." From time to time, Smith does hop on and off his soap box, addressing religious oppression in "Ms. Holy Roller" or touching on societal issues in "Tell Me Why," including lyrics such as, "Why is the bomb always getting the last word / and why did her uncle have to molest her / and why did all them cops have to be shootin' to kill / and why did all them priests have to act so ill?" But he never stays on long enough to kill the upbeat tone found throughout the album. "Lost and Found" is as charming and entertaining as the Prince himself, and a welcome breath of fresh air.

The cave scene in the season 3 episode, "Boys in the Woods" is one of my favorites. Will, Carlton and Phil are in the cave, and Carlton relates to the others his observation of the widespread discrimination and truthfully the outright racism the trix bunny recieves at the hands of kids everywhere. "Why couldn't they just give him some cereal?"

You may have to wait, but in the meantime... enjoy the forum. There are a great number of interesting threads to look through. :dancingcool:

In general, US films usually have better promotion, better distribution, and as a result, better sales within the US as opposed to the rest of the world. Empirical evidence supports this. In keeping with this, Hitch is even more of a phenomenon. Hitch is a romantic comedy, a genre which usually doesn't sell as well outside of the US as inside. For example, I can almost guarantee that the new romantic comedy, "Fever Pitch" will not do as well outside of the US as it will inside. The movies that do best outside of the US are usually blockbusters... Independence Day, Men In Black, Spiderman, X-Men... War of the Worlds coming later this year, and also, US films with international stars. I am generalizing, because I'm sure there certainly are exceptions. Though there are of course more people living in the rest of the world than the US, US films have to compete with films originating from all parts of the world when shown in different countries, whereas that is not much of an issue within the US. All in all, crazy is the perfect word to describe the Hitch phenomenon we have seen all over the world. No one thought it would do so well in the US less the rest of the world, and I for one am quite happy. Also, remember, this is really the first big movie outing for Overbrook... which makes the accomplishment even more exciting.

Things have definitely hit a new low over there.

IS IT TRUE THAT WILL AND JAZZY JEFF ARE COUSINS
MaxFly replied to a topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Um, something like that, though the meaning of the term "brotha" has been expanded. They're Potnas. Coo? -
That's whatever.... Hitch is doing unbelievably well. Has Hitch premired in Japan yet? Will has a great chance to do better overseas than he did in the US. Crazy...

Huh?

Ludacris was involved in producing Party Starter and he wrote the hook... so yeah... I'm still looking for the track where Will rhymes like that old lady in "The Wedding Singer." I think I also heard someone say Will stole her flow as well. He's biting everyone's flow huh. :nono:

I think it was the stupid college kids that were comparin' Will Smith to Vanilla Ice, Chuck D defends Vanilla Ice out of pity by saying he's not as wack as people think he is but he defends FP out of respect 'cause he always goes on about how JJFP represented hip-hop well by winning the 1st grammy and sayin' that they bring more energy than PE in performances, let's get that clear, Chuck D knows Vanilla Ice more than any of us do, he might have a better personality than he does as a rapper, but of course I don't understand why Chuck D wouldn't diss Vanilla Ice either 'cause he's a fake gangsta rapper just like 50 Cent now, wow that tells you how much Chuck D thinks of 50 Cent, wacker than Vanilla Ice, too bad his fame can't end just as fast! :hilarious: :hilarious: btw, I don't get why FP would give 50 props on "I Wish I Made That" either, I guess ol' school rappers have more class and must feel pity for these wack rappers, although if these wack rappers ever diss them, the pity is over! :poke: I don't think Will is giving 50 props as much as he's just saying that part of him envies how Pac, Jay, 50, Biggie and Dre were able to catch the ear of the mainstream and build off of that. He also says that he feels like LL, Chuck D., Slick Rick, and Doug E. feel. He's loved, and he knows it, but he still isn't given the attention and the respect that the Jays and 50s of the rap world get. Incidentally, I think what Chuck D. was really trying to say is that people bash Will, Hammer, and Ice because it's popular, and without appropriate forethought or for thoughful reasons. I think he was linking them in that sense. If I were to go into a public school somewhere and were to ask a high school senior if Will Smith is good, they'd say no, and when asked to explain, they'd say that he should stick to rap... he's just an actor trying to be a rapper. You may also get that popular "bubble gum" response. It's like politics... "talking points." Kids have been programmed not to like Will's music... they hear it over and over from their peers and other rappers, so even if they secretly like his music, they won't be cool if they let other people know. I mean, someone had to go out and by those 9 million Big Willie Style albums, so really, a lot of kids are just fronting and too insecure to really tell it like it is.

Numbers aren't that bad. Expected Will to sell more, but only a 41% drop... not too bad. Again, Will's a long term seller, so we'll see how things turn out...
-
Lol, Will is still making his presence felt around the July 4th weekend.
-
Will's holding it down... looks like Faith Evans may unseat 50... things are looking good.
-
Def the one where Will's dad comes back. When his dad left, Will took it rough.
-
Hopefully, this Will help to boost Will's sales numbers in Europe. From what I've gathered, he started pretty slow overseas.

Numbers look good...

What's your favorite "Switch" remix?
MaxFly replied to PeaceAngel's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I'm feeling them both equally. -
It's not an album full of catchy hooks, but that doesn't mean the hooks aren't good. The most catchy hooks are usually simple easily memorized rhymes, or phrases... i.e Boom! shake shake shake the room Boom! shake shake shake the room Boom! shake shake shake the room Tick, tick, tick, tick... Boom! Getting jiggy wit it, nana nana nanana nana nana nana Getting jiggy wit it, nana nana nanana nana nana nana Generally, the longer and more complex a hook is to a certain degree, the less catchy it is. However, he had something to say on the album so I'm guessing he didn't want to overshadow that message by forcing the incorporation of simple hooks at the expense of taking away from the message. The hooks on this album are generally pretty complex for choruses. I can't imagine, Ms. Holy Roller, Loretta, Could You Love Me, Tell Me Why, or Scary Story with simpler hooks. The more party type stuff... Party Starter, Switch, Coming to the Stage and If You Can't Dance have more of the sing along tunes. I'm def feeling the serious content though. Lol, I don't know why anyone would want to sing along with Loretta, Ms. Holy Roller, or Could You Love Me anyway...
