The Final I Am Legend Box Office Report + DVD Sales
MaxFly replied to TopDawg14's topic in Will Smith Movies
I don't think there's a decent pirated copy out there for it. The quality of the pirated copies are so poor that it shouldn't hurt it much at all. There's a decent pirated copy out. It's the DVD Screener... It's not perfect, but it supposed to be good. -

So much for Typhoon's predictions... :stickpoke: Sorry Ty, lol. :stickpoke: -
I think that the JDL still pretty mad at Will... and again... there are subjects that it's better not to touch them at all, Will made his mess and he should know that there are subjects that it's better not to stick there head to... I don't care if the JDL is still mad at Will... they took the words of a GOSSPIP COLUMN and ran with it. They did not check to see if Will's comments were minconstrued. They did not seek comment from Will to clarify the matter. They did not wait to see if Will would comment on his own. They did not look for a secondary yet original source to corroborate the first. It should be abundantly clear to everyone, and especially to you, willreign, that they did not care about the truth in this matter. They saw a sensationalized headline and jumped on it to further their agenda. They did not stop to worry about whether it was even true or not. They did not hold back in the character assassination of an innocent person. I think that kind of behavior is highly irresponsible... and personally... disgusting. Willreign, it's like me telling everyone on JJFP a lie about you and then those people comdening you right away without further evidence... calling you to be banned from the site. You would not like it... Moreover, it would be even worse if they were to find out that the story I made up about you was false, yet refused to apologize to you for their rash and unfair behavior.

Will is down with O.P.P.ression. :wickedwisdom: -
A lot of us should get togther and have a listening party on Skype. Just chill, talk about whatever, listen to JJFP music, talk about it... enjoy eachother's virtual company. We also need to do a podcast for I Am Legend... I'm probably the last person who should suggest one since I'm almost never available, but I should be around. Tim, are we still able to do the JJFP radio?

There is a member at RT that wrote this in reply of the ADL article which I really liked and sums up my thought. It's nice to see the ADL's acceptance of Smith's "clarification," but in all honesty, only fools, and zealots would need clarification. His comments were quite clear, and whether one agrees with the actual comments or not, we can all be certain that they were taken out of context. What I find a little disturbing is that the ADL seems more concerned with Smith's condemnation of Hitler than the fact that what he said was been grossly mischaracterized. They seem to have left out a few parts of his response, and in doing so, made is seem as if the statements he made were unclear, letting those who unfairly mischaracterized his statements off the proverbial hook. "It is an awful and disgusting lie... It speaks to the dangerous power of an ignorant person with a pen. I am incensed and infuriated to have to respond to such ludicrous misinterpretation." At least Smith didn't. Ouch. You stalking me, Ty? But yeah... reading the ADL's remark left a bad taste in my mouth... It came off almost like... "Alright guys, we can all go home now... Will Smith finally admitted that Hitler was evil." "Sir, I believe his comments were taken out of context. Shouldn't we acknowledge that was well?" "Nah, that's too much work."

Lol, Ty... "Boom! Reich, Reich, Reich the Room." Lol, really Ty...
-
That's not too bad. Glad it's doing well overseas.
-
Their reputation lol, isn't the JDL regarded as an extremist terrorist organization by the CIA & FBI as well as the ADL ? I've heard something like that. Still want an apology though. lol

Yeah, it was great. Was the theater packed?

THE 'PRINCE IS INFURIATED BY HITLER QUOTE ANALYSIS
MaxFly replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
You know what though... while I do partly wish that he would keep quiet on controversial topics given the reason you stated, it's really not a good enough reason. People are bound to take the things he says the wrong way, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that some people purposefully do so. Shying away from topics like that may be the most expedient thing for his career, but he shouldn't be forced to keep quiet on things simply because a few ignorant people choose to take his comments out of context. What if people start taking his comments on his religious beliefs out of context (which has already happened), or his comments on his marriage (which has already happended)... After awhile, Will will only be able to talk about "Summertime", "I, Robot" and the current album or movie he's promoting... and even then, I, Robot may be a sticky subject for a lot of people... Lol. -
Moreover, I expect an immediate apology from the Jewish Defense League for their recent comments. It's pathetic and disgusting that groups like these tend to jump at these sorts of stories without confirmation or a clear understanding of the comments that were made. You simply can't condemn somone and then say "oops." You can't call for their movie to be removed from movie theaters and then say "oops." I expect their apology to be no less public and lengthy than their repudiation.

Hmmmm... that's what most of us here were saying from the beginning Oh... that's what most of us were saying from the beginning. Oh, look... that's what most of us were saying from the beginning. Lol... We should never shy away from difficult subjects... but... I'm going to close this thread. Today is Christmas day. Lets try to get along in peace and harmony for at least one day. I'll re-open both threads tomorrow and merge this one with the other. Merry Christmas everyone!

The Final I Am Legend Box Office Report + DVD Sales

Which movie are we talking about? -
This is from one of the interviews he gave. I guess it's been reprinted.
-
Nothing to take back. What he said was correct, even if people are unwilling to acknowledge it.
-
I hope he stands by what he said given the fact that it's true. Many in the black community lambasted Bill Cosby for speaking out concerning the plight of African Americans in the recent past... Unfortunately, people just don't want to hear the truth if it's not palpable.
-
I'm really not all that surprised. It's the media's way to take someone's statements out of context, sensationalize them, and print them in order to sell papers. Unfortunately, there's no truth nor honor in that style of journalism.

Mein Kampf...

No, I think understanding why people do the evil things they do will go far in solving a number of problems. I'll give you an example. Talk to a lot of research scientists who deal with medicine and they'll tell you that while most people are content to have a cure for various illnesses, their goal, as scientists, is to prevent the contraction of the disease entirely. They want to eradicate diseases... not simply cure them as they arise. It's not enough to defeat madmen and tyrants as they arise, a lot of people would be satisfied with that, but too many lives hang in the balance. The best course of action is to head them off. You can't do that unless you understand why they do the things they do and stamp out those ideologies from the get go. We should denounce bad men, but we can't leave it at that. It's imperative we dig deeper. They'll stop them after the fact... after they've amassed power and killed many. That's not sufficient. I know that, and you know that. In fact, it's a shame you refuse to acknowledge it. You should know it more than anyone. Most of the responses stem simply from the title of the article, "Will Smith thinks Hitler was a good person." I know that that is a lie, as do you. Will said no such thing. I'm surprised you don't condemn or denounce the jornalist for using such inflamatory language and purposefully taking what Will Smith said out of context. It's sad, really.
-
First of, that's wrong. What Hitler thought is important, because it's the key to stopping the sorts of attrocities he committed in the future. If we don't fight the ideologies, and not just the men, their ideologies will remain long after they are dead, and others will pick them up and run with them. Was Hitler a bad person... yes. Should we stop there, no. That's not what was written. What was written was that Hitler thought his intentions were good. It wasn't that he was just out to do evil for the sake of doing evil. There was a reason he did the things he did.
-
Nope, can't stop there... If you label Hitler as evil and stop there, you learn nothing from the tragedy. You're then apt to chalking up the Holocaust to simply the evil doing of a madman, when, in actuality, the issue is more complex than that. No one is saying that what Hitler did was good. Not a single person who has posted in this thread has said that. What has been said repeatedly is that while Hitler thought what he was doing was good the vast majority of the world knows that it was bad. This discussion has nothing to do with showing mercy. It is an attempt to get deeper into the issue than simply saying "Hitler was a bad man." Why is it important to go beyond the simple notion that Hitler was a bad person? It's important to understand the thinking of people like this because they are the ones who are most dangerous in our society. They are the ones who can deceive millions... they play on the prejudices of people and subsequently do the most damage. Saying that Hitler was a bad person is nice and pithy, but it doesn't get at the heart of the problem, and that will only lead to us making the same mistakes over and over again. I'm not sure how many times people will need to say that Hitler was bad for you to acknowledge that people have said it. You might need to go back and re-read this topic. The reason why people are dying today in Sudan is that no one cares about the reasons these genocides begin or the dogmas that continue to fuel them. We simply chalk it up to people being bad, leave it at that, and go about our business. If we are incapable of looking at these issues in a more complex and intelligent manner, we're doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
