  1. The reason I brought up my issues with the review that was posted earlier is because it contained a number of illigitimate criticisms, criticisms that always seem to arise when Will does a serious movie... criticisms that always seem to fall to the wayside when a large collection of people finally get to see the movie. It's starting to become a pattern, so I'm just putting it out there. Some of the same things happened with Pursuit of Happyness. If you go back and read some of the early reviews, a number of people complained about it as sappy, corny, etc... We all know how that turned out, lol. I took the reviewer's mention of the "Will Smith Show" as just that, a Will Smith centered and exclusive portion of the movie. I don't think he had any intention of referring to it as the "Big Willie Show" considering that the reviewer himself said... That's certainly not "Big Willie" in any sense of the term, so it wouldn't really make sense to say or mean that and if that is what he's saying... it's even worse. The criticism the reviewer seems to be leveling is "Even with such a great story to work with, they couldn't have found a way so that people wouldn't have to watch Will and a dog for an hour?" This is why I find this a poor critique... the story is at least somewhat faithful to the original. As for the CGI... the only CGI I've really seen a lot of is the NYC landscape, and it looks excellent... I haven't really gotten an extensive look at the mosters. This is why I didn't criticize that point if you were to go back and read my previous post. I have no basis to criticize it and the reviewer might very well be correct... so I didn't say anything about it. Another point that the reviewer made was that Will lacks credibility as a scientist... But Tim has posted a review in which the reviewer said... I mean... so Will's performance as a military scientist lacked credibility, yet at the same time, another reviewer sees his performance as the shining star of the film. That's a notably disparity. It reminds me of the reviews last year in which people said that Will and Jaden's perfomances were overdone and sappy, only to have others say that they were the highpoint of the film. All I'm saying is that I'm not going into pessimistic mode quite yet based on a few illigitimate criticisms, especially when there are already other reviews out that dispute those crticisms. We'll have to wait and see. We did this last year, and again, we all know how that turned out.
  2. Haha, anyone get the feeling that whoever reviewed the movie made up their mind about it before they saw it? Lol, are they really complaining about Will taking center stage? The movie is about the supposed last man on Earth. Wouldn't it ruin the premise of the movie if there were other people around just so the first half of the movie wouldn't be "The Will Smith Show?" That's the worst and most illigitimate complaint I've heard in some time. Will Smith lacking crdibility as a scientist reminds of of those last year who said that he lacked credibility as a homeless person. It's the kind of criticism you hear people say who ultimately say something like, Will Smith should just stick to music!!! Reading this review, you'd swear you'd be wasting you money even renting this movie. Guess I should save my money, lol.
  3. Hasn't Will had only one movie go over $300 million in the US?

  5. Here's someone's individual review from IMDb.
  6. The 60 Minutes Clips are up. Will Smith - 60 Minutes(1) Will Smith - 60 Minutes(2)
  7. Those clips are great. This is going to be an excellent movie. Wow!
  8. Whew... that was a close one... I thought he really said that.
  9. I'm from Boston... I'm a Pats fan... couldn't do it man, lol.
  10. It was a close game... Props to the Eagles for channelling the Colts and taking it to us. Also, props to the Eagles for losing to us like the Colts... :signthankspin:
  11. Right now, right this very second, Will has enough music for a new album. He has hundreds of songs at some level of completion that he hasn't released on his past albums. I think the real problem is the work he is going to have to put in, and the lack of support he will get from Interscope. We remember what happened last time with "Tell Me Why." The culture is such that, unless you're Kanye, music that is smart or even mildly thought provoking is hard to push. That's not to say that Will isn't up for doing the work... but it's an awful lot of work for very little reward.
  12. Still doesn't deserve a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yet, though...
  13. Hopefully I'll be able to record most of them. I'm also waiting for the dates of the Leno, Letterman and Today Show appearances. I'm not sure if he's doing Regis and Kelly this time around.
  14. Happy Thanksgiving everyone...
  15. I used to do 4 miles at 6 in the morning during the summer. Surprisingly, you get used to to after awhile. Trying to get into the habit of doing it is crazy though.
  16. Well, I don't know Julie... Kermit actually grew as an actor... As he got older, he took on more serious roles and really matured as an actor. Also, look at the Rugrats... it took them years and a lot of maturation before they got a star... That should effectively end this thread.
  17. Lol, yup... the girly drinks should do it.
  18. I don't know if you heard, but the AMA's completely cold-shouldered hiphop for awards. It's one of many examples that are indicative of the lack of respect hiphop has in American *elite* (Hollywood, critics). They won't give him something until he's good and old in the acting game. He has plenty of nominations but like I mentioned, they will still be critical. Museum of the Moving Image was great, but it's certainly not something anyone was too familiar with until we heard Will got it lol. So far, he's highly respected, but the route he's taking will take time. He will deserve the star, but it's gotta be down the road when he's amassed more fame than what most people know him for: Independence Day, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Men in Black. As his physical image ages, and he may start playing more of the fatherly roles, he could really gain the respect from academies and such as that is a sweet spot so-to-speak for critics. Will is still very young, young enough that those who are pushing for a star probably want to wait to have even more accolades to celebrate. Yeah, I honestly don't think it has anything to do with his age, experience or success... certainly not his success. "Legends" such as Britney Spears, Judge Judy, Jennifer Lopez and Charlie Murphy, relatively new to their respective industries, have stars after all. And while he has plenty of critics, the vast majority of people like his work, whether it be music, television, or movies. Will was deserving of a star on the walk of fame several years ago, even prior to the second Oscar nomination and the most recent string of successful movies. Again, you simply can't be considered the most powerful actor on the planet, have two Oscar nominations in a 5 year span, have the movies you've been in gross almost 4.5 billion dollars, and not be deserving of a star right now. As I said, Will not having a star is likely nothing more than people not having gotten around to it yet. It's certainly not because he doesn't deserve it yet or hasn't achieved enough. Also, I'm not sure how important people think a star on the Hollywood walk of fame is, or how prestigious an award they perceive it to be, but Charlie Murphy has one, and Jennifer Lopez has three... including one for movies. As a result, idea that Will needs to do more to get one doesn't seem accurate in the least.
  19. I wouldn't say shocking. He's young by acting standards, he's just started to gain acclaim for dramatic roles (although Bagger Vance should have gotten more credit than it did), and he's returning to sci-fi which could actually hurt his chances (since some in the hollywood elite could see it as a safe-zone, rather than being the actor who redefines himself every role). It should be interesting, and unless he REALLY falls off, he'll get one, but it's still a good 10 years away at the earliest. I'd like to see him as an actor when he's in that older, wise stage. The guy does have two Oscar nominations and a slew of other awards including a lifetime achievement award from the Museum of the Moving Image. He is now highly respected in the movie industry and was recently recognized as the most powerful actor in Hollywood... The total gross of the movies he's been in is somewhere in the billions... And that's not even getting into the fact that he's a hip hop legend and innovator... On his rap reputation alone, he already deserves a star.... I'm guessing his not having a star has nothing to do with his success as an actor or rapper, but rather, the simple fact that he hasn't gotten around to it yet.
  20. That secret number could really come in handy.
  21. I have a feeling we're in store for an alternate ending a la 28 Days Later. If there were major problems with the ending, it would have leaked by now.
  22. really? seems a reliable source Really Tim ? Source: A random guy making such a post in a forum is counted these days as a reliable source ? Or are there other reliable sources that I don't know of ? If so, I apologise. Yeah, we're going to need a reliable source before I can take this seriously. This should have been picked up by superherohype.com or one of the other sites by now. It's kinda suspect that it hasn't.
