What a horrible year it has been so far. RIP Bernard :shakehead:

Anyone watched the opening ? That was a thing of beauty, best opening ceremony ever. I got goosebumps watching them light up the torch, that was amazing.

Love the beat, looking forward to it.

Entertainment Weekly: Smith vs Ledger for Oscar?
Typhoon20 replied to Bob's topic in Will Smith Movies
He won't be getting one for SP. Besides, TD mentioned it already Ledger can only be nominated for best supporting actor and Will (if) will be nominated in the best actor category. To win an oscar, the movie has to be really good. Will rarely has had that chance. -
That made me laugh :kekeke: .

Simply amazing.

Says who ? Does Hancock ring a bell ? Used to be supposedly one of the better scripts out there, I read the script and it is horrendous. Me, I think that the Seven Pounds script is great, sure, a big dramatic tear-jerker to some, but a great script anyway. Now, will the movie be great? I don't know... I thought the Tonigh He Comes script was great. And I have read it like three times, first time was like two years ago. So, no... Hancock doesn't ring a bell... :smartass: (if you can say that  ) But of course they couldn't make a movie where Will played a really unlikable character, they had to throw in more comedy, , and a worse storyline. To make it more "Big Willie", hollywood blockbuser comedy/action. Since Seven Pounds is a drama with not a very big budget, they don't care about the box office as much as with Hancock. And that will hopefully make it a better movie, without cutting it down to get a bigger audience, take a bunch of scenes out, and totally change the script. Ow ok, I thought it was from an official article or something. I hope you're right Viber, but with the likes of Nieporte and Muccino I can't be too optimistic. Are we talking about the same script for Hancock ? I read it from RT and it got ripped apart. It was overly sexual and not in a good way, kinda as if it was written by a perv. Maybe Hancock has a couple scripts, dunno.

You're being too generous. This is probably my least anticipated WS movie, by far. Mainly cause of Nieporte.

Same here Viber, usually a trailer would be out like a day before it's official release and Mamma Mia as well as TDK are already out so it should've been public by now, it's not. So I'm guessing it's going to take a couple more weeks.

Bummer.

JOKER really made this movie, what a beautiful performance by Ledger. He should get an oscar nomination. It was extremely emotional watching him portray the Joker, I couldn't get enough of him and wished he had more screen time. By the way, it seems that TDK broke all kinds of box-office records. Amazing, 66 M OD, close to 160 OW in 3 days, wow.
-
Yeah 7 would be impossible, it has to drop nearly 75% to get there. I'm guessing it's going to drop at least 50% so we're looking at around 14 million.
-
Empire is that type of movie, let's hope they announce it soon. I don't want that one to stay as a rumor.

I wouldn't be surprised if the actuals of Hellboy is less than 35 and Hancock is close to 35. Dang, this is a beast overseas. I'm extremely happy for Will (not so much for the movie). This just proves that Will Smith = box-office gold. He's reaching that status (which no actor ever got to, even Cruise or Hanks) where he's above the production companies in terms of power. He can make any movie he wants to do, he can work with any director he wants to work with, and he can have any budget he wants (ok I'm exaggerating but you get the point).
-
Hancock did extremely good this weekend, only a 47% drop projected. It's going to make almost as much as Hellboy II which is great.

One day I hope to see a Will Smith movie next to those numbers. Del Toro is a great director, but how about Nolan ? The man is slowly but surely becoming a masterpiece of a director. Memento, Insomnia, Batman series The prestige...and he barely made a couple of movies. I hope that Nolan or Del Toro ends up directing a Will Smith movie eventually.
-
He's breaking records alright, doesn't he also own the most consecutive 100m made movies with 8 ? Cruise had 7, he passed him. If somehow, someway Seven Pounds can pass the 100m domestically there's no stopping Will. I really hope it does but it's going to be tough.

Yeah, I think we can all agree that these are pretty horrible numbers. It's his what, second highest weekend opening? It clearly should have been his first. What's worse, it's only about 10 million more than his third highest weekend opening. He just barely beat that. 62 million in three days is pretty pathetic. Moreover, it didn't even get over 100 million in 5 days. Granted, they had a few showings on Tuesday night, and many of those who saw it that Tuesday would have likely seen it on Wednesday or one of the following days, but we should ignore those numbers, because, technically, it's not 5 days... This movie is officially a flop, I'm calling it. Apples and oranges. Underneath the sarcasm there are some extravagantly incorrect criticism IMO. Who said it was a flop ? Who said the box-office numbers are horrible ? Handcock is by far a flop, it's just a slight disappointment based on all the hype (critically as well as box-office tracking). 100 M is still a great achievement when you don't factor the tracking (from 110 up to 150), a movie with no origin opening with 100 M is fantastic. But we all know it wasn't the strength of the movie that brought the bucks, without Will this would've been a flop, you can bank on that. Wills power in hollywood keeps rising, he's getting better and better as an actor, people love him so much they go to his movies disregarding the movie itself. I feel obligated to watch Will in anything, because no matter how much the movie disappoints, Will rarely does. My sister was watching a commercial of Handcock today, she just saw Will and said ''cool'' and plans to watch it this weekend, she doesn't know what the movie is about or if it's good, she doesn't care, as long as Will is in it. That just shows how great and how powerful Will truly is as an actor. The biggest enjoyment I got from Handcock was watching Will portray the character flawlessly. Handcock just proves that Will Smith would make a great superhero. IMO the best superhero performance. I was a bit disappointed by the movie, that's all. If you loved it, more power to you. But all in all this movie is by far a flop, and I never said it was. Wait, you weren't doing the anti-jinx? I wasn't even being sarcastic... I was just trying to out anti-jinx you. I'm always doing the anti-jinx, even in that post.

I understand Vipa and I kinda agree, but it's still frustrating and disrespectful in a way that JJFP would be mentioned in the same breath as Soulja Boy.

So cats and dogs don't eat, take a dump or have sex ? Interesting. And slightly disturbed by the ''sex like rabbits'' part lol. The only bad thing about having rabbits is, like Julie said, the smell. It's really an awful smell.
