http://nymag.com/listings/movie/i-am-legend/ So far almost none of the reviews were 100% positive, it felt like all the positive reviews, most of 'em, weren't really positive to begin with, it starts out good but then they all say the same...

71% on RT now, going down.

Yeah, and if they would have dumbed down the CGI of the darkseekers, this would have not only be the best thriller but it would be part of the greatest movies of all-time. That's what makes me mad, this had the potential to be legend. It's still probably a decent movie, but it was not so smart to change the ending like that, with alice braga. I'm not mad cause it doesn't have the same ending as the book, it's the way they did it, that just didn't work out. Also it would have been sooo better if the infected would be smart, would have given the movie a deeper meaning to it. Instead they just focused on the solitary of the character, which is cool. But they didn't bother much with the infected and the ending. And if they somehow could have added Ben Cortman to the movie...ah well. I mean, it had so many possibilities, very powerful stuff, but they didn't use any of them. And that's cool, but your version has to top that one if you're going to make your own version. Everyone calls the 2nd part of IAL a B-horor movie. That's seriously embarrassing. If they would have followed the books ending they still could have added CGI and action/fantasy stuff in there. They could have hit a homerun with this one, but they only reached 2nd base. Akiva did it again though, and yet Will keeps working with him. Will keeps saying the next couple years is his peak, but if he doesn't want to waste those years he better stop working with the likes of Akiva and start making true movies. I'm sad cause his performance is probably going to be overshadowed by the faults of the movies second half. It's easy in this business to make a great movie, you just need to work with the right people. I mean why did he had to work with akiva again ? Wasn't it enough in I,Robot ? And Akiva isn't the only one to blame though, Will did work with the script too and had a saying. Will's movies in general lack a good script. He really needs to understand that part because without it he won't reach his peak, and even if he does (like in IAL) he won't get the deserved reward for it. My hopes for Hancock have been seriously decreased because of this. Will carries those movies by himself, every review of his movie sums it up in ''Will was the only great thing about this movie''. I wish we'll see more reviews of his movies that sum it up in ''Will was one of the many great things about this exceptional piece of work''. This sums it up:

This movie is a sensory experience that it’s hard not to recommend, so enveloping is the production design and sense-of-scene. I can only suggest the compromise of staying for the first 75 minutes. That’s all the film-makers seem to have done. http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/7232/i_am_legend_review.html :shakehead: So far every reviewer said very good things about the first hour, but totally destroyed it for the final half hour (with the CGI monsters and the script).

http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117935602...yid=31&cs=1 The only and biggest downfall seems to be the CGI of the darkseekers. I'd wish they would have left that in bigger & better hands, obviously it didn't work out well.Seems like francis lawrence overexaggerated a bit and he missed it. Shame because that could have been done better and now the reviews would have been near perfect.

Another VERY positive review http://variagate.com/legend.htm?RT

The thing that surprises me the most is we got 2 VERY different reviews from the SAME SITE AICN.COM. At least the second positive one admits he went into this movie hating on akiva and Will, then admitted he loved it. But the bad one from AICN.COM just felt like he ripped it for no apparent reason. But so far 2 things are almost a fact: 1-CGI of the monsters seems to be bad. 2-The movie is not faithful to the book. But other then that it's a perfectly fine movie, aside from 1-2 hater no one critisized Will's performance, in fact they praised him. And everyone talked great about the first hour of the movie. To be honest, I've read a spoiler from a guy who saw this movie, and I know how it ends. It's really not that bad, I kinda like it. There I said it.And when you consider that the original ending will have it's place on the DVD, it's really pretty good.

Another user review who hasn't read the novel. Most of these are going to be positive.

That won't fare well with the critics, the ending. I understand killing Will in the movie will seriously hurt the movie's box-office success, but if Will wants to do art movies wrapped in blockbusters and he wants critical acclaim, he needs to consider why this one isn't going to be received so well. You can't take a masterpiece which revolves around the ending and completely change it. Might as well change the name, the book this movie is based on. I'm seeing it nonetheless, but still, happy ending is not what I was expecting. Maybe he could have died while saving the human race, that would have been at least something. I really really really wanted this to work for Will, I want him to get his own LOTR. Also, how can they fail at the CGI of the monsters so badly ? Especially when you consider how amazing of a job they did with a deserted NY. At first with the positive reviews I was very excited but than a lot of bad ones came, which really took away everything. And I seriously don't think it's just Akiva Goldsman either. Will did work on the script too ya know.

Phewww ale, you had me there for a moment. When you're on the main page of the forum it reads ''Will Smith: My religion is....'' and I almost screamed out ''NOOO WILL STAY AWAY FROM SCIENTOLOGY, DAMN YOU TOM, DAMNN YOU !''. But thank god that's not the case. Just goes to show you how smart and good of a person he is, as long as he doesn't convert to Tom and the Dark Side I'm cool.

I Am Legend Box Office Predictions?!
Typhoon20 replied to Da Fresh Prince's topic in Will Smith Movies
It's not going to do 300 in the US, trust me. Around 160 I'd say. -
Thanks a lot D, it was good to see Jeff with Will. That part where they are out on the streets in Philly was really funny, seeing how they all act so childishly, it's great.
-
I'm sorry but I hate these type of sources, they are just out there to put Will down, make him look bad, trying to take him down. Here: http://www.hollywood.com/news/Smith_Denies..._Remake/4931431 Also: http://in.news.yahoo.com/071005/43/6lkwm.html

Top 10 Rappers Turned Actors - AllHipHop.com
Typhoon20 replied to bart5's topic in Caught in the Middle
Sorry, but I can't take any list serious that hasn't Will Smith as number 1. From every point of view, Will kills it. He was at the top as a rapper, first ever grammy, 10's of millions of sold albums...what did mark do ? Come on man. Than we go on to movies...Will's right now the biggest actor in hollywood, he's surpassed the Tom's, which is a big deal. You wanna compare Will to those rappers again ? No disrespect to them...but like Magic said for Jordan I'm going to say for Will Smith. There's Will Smith.....and then there's the rest of them. -
Does Will have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame?
Typhoon20 replied to SEALK's topic in Will Smith Movies
I always wanted to see Will on the actors studio, I was like ''why don't they ask him, cone on ! he deserves it''. And short after that in '02 he got on the show, after that show I said to myself ''damn, wish they didn't ask him for another 10 more years''. I think there's a time and place for everything, and it would be better if he gets that star when he's even more respected than now, when he has more stuff under his belt. When the actors studio happened, they couldn't talk about Lost & Found, or his newer movies like Hitch, POH etc. So sometimes patience is more rewarding, in the end you feel like you get more back. -
When is this album going to be released ? Hopefully we get some more info soon. I like what I'm hearing, I'll be buying this album not only because the song is really beautiful but I just have a thing for her, she's very talented and has a clean image. I hope to god this album will be a success, and hopefully people will give her that recognition. She's a sweetheart with a lovely voice and creates good music. Unfortunately these days to be succesful you gotta show some nudity, make offensive records or it won't be a hit.Good luck to Tatyana, she deserves it.

I asked my question, but it won't get picked. For Will & Lawrence : There have been rumors that you guys have done reshoots on the ending of I am legend, it is said that you changed the ending. Why ?
-
Great read Tim, good article. And the 12 monkeys reference was on point. I can't express how dissapointed and furious I am, I didn't want to believe it but after all it seems to be true. I read the book love the book and seeing this news got me pissed off. I lost whatever hype I had for this movie, whatever interest. The reason why the book is called I AM LEGEND is because of the ENDING. If you change the ending why call it I AM LEGEND ? In that case, RENAME THE MOVIE TOO. Make it something like ''I AM IMMORTAL'', yeah the crowd will love that, that's a happy ending title right ? SHAME.
-
really? seems a reliable source Really Tim ? Source: A random guy making such a post in a forum is counted these days as a reliable source ? Or are there other reliable sources that I don't know of ? If so, I apologise.
-
To be honest, I don't believe that news.
-
WOW, WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 TRAILERS. THIS TRAILER IS AWESOME !!!!!!! Why am I writing in caps space hehe, so excited.
-
Hmm, I've got mixed feelings about this one. I think I need to watch this in HQ to make a better judgement.
-
Cool, thanks for the heads-up Tim.

I can't believe I just saw this thread, a bit too late though. Tim, are they still available ? I was looking for the Will Smith one with the BWS album live performances (at the BET, VMA's etc.). Btw, did Will ever perform live solo for MTV ? He won best male video and best rap video for JT2OU and Gettin jiggy with it, but I can't remember if he actually performed, would have been cool though. Anyway, sorry for the late reply, if it's still on I'd like to order the Will Smith Live DVD.
