  1. G-Unit leader 50 Cent has provided clarification on his newest venture, which aims to feed a billion children throughout the world. 50 mentioned his recent visit to Africa sparked inspiration for his food initiative. "What's up, it's your boy 50 Cent," the G-Unit leader said in a video. "I'm actually out here in Austrailia on tour right now and man, I grew up without money but I didn't grow up hungry. It's a lot of people out there that are actually hungry -- actually dying of hunger. And I feel like it's our responsiblity to come together and do things to create a solution for this actual problem. What I've seen from this actual run, when I was out in Africa, was unbeilievable, the devastation and desperation of people who don't know when they'll receive their next meal. Or if they're going to receive their next meal. I want to feed a billion kids and I need your help to do it. I need you to utilize your energy, your voice, to provide additional motivation for me at times. My new project is called SK, Street King and y'all know the plan. I just told y'all the plan. I want to feed a billion kids. It's your boy 50 Cent." (Street King) Last month, 50 revealed his world-changing strategy. "I'm gonna feed a billion people in africa over the next 5 yrs. They are putting SK in there tweets to show they support the idea. STREET KING," he tweeted August 12th. "Help me go to www.STREETKING.com RT @Januoregx: @50centstart with east africa right now coz its crucial up there #SK #FeedingBillions" "Its a big difference between being hungry and starvation. I didn't understand at first either you will catch on read about what's going on." (50 Cent's Twitter) Details of 50's new partnership with consumer brand company Pure Growth Partners landed online in early August. Pure Growth Partners, a New York City-based company that conceives and markets consumer brands, announced the launch of Street King, an energy shot made in collaboration with rapper, actor and entrepreneur Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. Jackson collaborated with Pure Growth Partners' Founder and Chief Executive Officer Chris Clarke to launch the energy shot, which will provide a meal for a child in need with every shot purchased. "I'm inspired by [Clarke's] vision and innovative approaches to tackling serious issues. It's our mission with Street King to really change children's lives around the world," Jackson said in a statement. (Bev Industry) While an exact release date has yet to be announced, 50 fans can expect the product to hit retail sometime this fall. Launching nationwide in September, Street King will be available in Orange Mango and Grape varieties for $2.49 to $2.99. The energy shot contains 100 percent natural flavors, no artificial colors and is made with a natural source of caffeine, which is derived from coffee beans, the company says. Each 2.5-ounce shot contains an amount of caffeine that is comparable to a cup of coffee, but contains zero carbohydrates, calories and sugar. Street King's Grape variety also is fortified with vitamins and gingko biloba. (Hip Hop N More)
  2. i can't decide between these 2 classics: eric b. and rakim "in the ghetto" busta rhymes and rick james "in the ghetto" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX2soOFTpe4
  3. yeah i'd say the rain is creatively done by all 3 mcs, ewf and hammer both did their thing, and grandmaster flash and the furious five song influenced so many mcs since it was released over 30 years ago, jaheim and next song is a lil' bit better than montell jordan but that's classic too, will's "act like you know" is probably one of my favorites from "born to reign" but that pete rock and cl smooth is a classic, jazzy jeff and cl smooth song is classic too: celine dion "i love you" faith evans "i love you" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kel0MLGEKQs
  4. will smith feat. jill scott "the rain"(since this is a will smith site i'm sure we all heard it but i post it anyway) b.o.b. "the rain" dmx "the rain"

  6. it's true that if i were to list most of my favorite mcs it'd be from the east coast but scarface and the geto boys, outkast, and ugk are all time greats
  7. Game uses the same sample on his new album that LL used on his last album, Young Jeezy actually did a good job spitting on this song: Game Feat. Young Jeezy "Paramedics" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeJhrfc56xI LL Cool J Feat. KRS, Lil' Kim, Method Man, and Jim Jones "5 Boroughs"
  8. it's too early to tell if this game album's on the same level as his previous albums but i think he's putting together enough quality music to consider him one of the greats in hip hop, the only reason why lil' wayne and jay-z/kanye are selling more than game is 'cause they're getting more radio play with songs that appeal to a commercial audience but game knows how to put together quality and his album is getting more praise from the critics than those other albums are it ain't just me saying that, they consider the game album above average, the jay-z/kanye album average, and the lil' wayne album below average... you could say a lot of the best stuff these days are on mixtapes instead of albums and that's 'cause record labels won't release certain stuff unless it's watered down, it's just like how interscope didn't release will's "tell me why", you could say ll cool j's "return of the g.o.a.t." mixtape sounds better than "exit 13" just like game's "r.e.d. room" mixtape sounds better than the "r.e.d. album" 'cause record labels like def jam and interscope want something that appeals to the kids....
  9. you could say that there's a couple filler tracks and he shouldn't have had rick ross and lil' wayne on the album but there's about 80% quality songs on there which is a lot better than most commercial albums that only have 2 or 3 good songs, it's has more quality than the lil' wayne and jay-z/kanye albums have combined
  10. earth wind and fire "on your face" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTTNANsKsz4 mc hammer "on your face" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZI8kGG_EjY
  11. montell jordan feat. redman "anything" jaheim feat. next "anything"
  12. this sounds like a fun idea, never heard of the tone-loc track but the dr. dre song is a classic, here's some more classics: dr. dre feat. mary j. blige and rell "the message" nas "the message" grandmaster flash and the furious five "the message"
  13. well good luck this season guys, i was working a lot of the past couple weeks so i didn't have time to sign up
  14. and game's album only sold 135,000 copies after 2 weeks even though it's probably one of the best albums i heard in commercial rap in recent years, it's kinda sad that most people just buy albums over hype rather than actual quality these days...

  16. i think it's healthy to have discussions like this, when we don't is when this forum will become obsolete, michael hit a lot of points that're important and need to be known, i don't think everybody that lists jay-z and lil' wayne is a sellout but you can't front how at least some are ignorant and have limited views of hip hop based on what gets airplay and what the magazines say are the top artists and they don't form their own view, it's just like when a lot jumped off of ja rule's bandwagon when 50 dissed him for doing pop songs but failed to see the fact that 50 was singing with girls on his songs too, it's also kinda funny that pac and biggie were murdered right in the prime of their careers, people view them as perfect mcs which is unfair to those that're living, i could go on and on with examples but i'll leave it on the note that like chuck d was saying the history of music has to be respected
  17. word to what michael said there, and to what turntable said a lot of times when rappers make lists of their favorite rappers it's done in a politically correct fashion
  18. to put jay-z in the top 10 is a disrespect to the history of hip hop
  19. there's still some good albums out there in hip hop but it bothers me that jay-z, kanye, and eminem are the only good rappers that manage to do big numbers these days, back in the days you had fresh prince, ll, dmx, dr. dre, fugees, big pun, jay-z, biggie, 2pac, nas, busta rhymes, soul groups like new edition and tlc all going platinum or better, there was more parody, it was like the nfl, btw game's album is better than all those listed there, he's the best out on the commercial scene but i notice his songs don't get much airplay thease dayas either, bottomline though krs said it best "mcs are hopeless thinking record sales make them the dopest"
  20. KRS is the most consistant mc ever besides LL and Fresh Prince, he's been out for 25 years and going strong, "Godsville" is the album of 2011 to me, btw "Watch The Throne" is a lot of overrated pop rap trash, he ain't in his prime no more, btw MC Hammer's diss to Jay-Z "Better Run Run" is a lot better than what Lil' Wayne just did there, speaking of Jay-Z disses I think that LL Cool J's "Dear Hip Hop" has a line in it that applies to Jay-Z "if he's so hot than why is the culture frozen?"
  21. it's kinda funny that they're calling TI's new album a comeback album since he just released an album a few months ago it seems like but that's the state of the music industry these days, you gotta constantly have something out there since most of the stuff doesn't sound good for too long but I could still listen to "Lost and Found" and it sounds just as fresh as it did back then, looking forward to some more timeless music from the fresh prince and btw don't call it a comeback...
