  1. This is complete BS, to say LL and Beastie Boys ain't first ballot hall of famers is like saying Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen ain't: Rap veteran LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys have been snubbed from being officially inducted into the annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in New York City next year. Instead of the former Def Jam artists, today's announced inductees include music legends like Neil Diamond. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is ready to admit a new class: Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, Darlene Love and Dr. John have all been inducted for 2011, the foundation announced Wednesday. With the exception of Waits, this was a first time nomination for all of the inductees. Artists aren't eligible for induction until 25 years have passed from the release of their first single or LP. The 26th annual ceremony to celebrate the inductees will go down on March 14, 2011 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, and will be broadcast on Fuse. (CNN) Following last September's announcement of Cool J as an inductee, Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons vouched his support for the rap mogul. "Nothing makes me happier than seeing the greatest of all time, LL Cool J, getting nominated to become a member of the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame. I remember when Todd was just a young, runaway kid who kept sending his demo tape to Rick Rubin's dorm room. When we first listened to his tape, we knew we had to make Todd part of the Def Jam family. Over the years, Todd made hit after hit, and maybe only to Jay-Z, he has the most hits in hip-hop history...at least in my book. But more importantly than being a hit maker, Todd has always said yes when asked to give back to his community. I have asked him to do many, many things and he has NEVER said no. He is a true friend and someone who truly deserves to [be] immortalized in the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame. (Global Grind) After LL lost out on an induction last December, Slaughterhouse's Joell Ortiz was vocal on his issues with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame panel. "how they not let LL cool J in the rock n roll hall of fame yet?," he asked Wednesday (December 16) night. "LL cool J is one of the first rappers that ever reached out to give me encouragement early on. He didnt even know me just a good dude. @menima27 not many at all. Alot of arrogant a**holes in this biz. I got stories yall." (Joell Ortiz's Twitter) Former XXL Magazine Editor In Chief Elliott Wilson also let his voice be heard on LL's missed spot. "F*ck the stats. I can't believe the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame chose to not induct him," Wilson wrote on his RapRadar website. "Last year, you put [Run-DMC] in and now you front on LL? The man who designed the blueprint of what a solo hip-hop star could be. This is beyond my comprehension. Disrespectful. So so so disrespectful. This is his first year of eligibility so I'm sure this will be rectified soon but still the moment's ruined. If I was Todd, I'd tell 'em to kiss my black a**. You only get a first time to do the right thing." (Rap Radar)
  2. Keith Sweat "Real Man", I don't know how this guy's music over the last 10 years has been so slept on, he's one of the realest artists:
  3. I like the remix with Snoop and Game a lot better, but this ain't as groundbreaking as "Nothin' But A G Thang" or even "Still D.R.E."
  4. I don't even think Will could go platinum anymore if he ever decided to release another album again but it's more about having credibility than selling records, the bottomline is people don't buy music that much these days anyway so really who gives a damn about sales, Ja Rule has had a more established career than a lot of today's one-hit youtube rappers could dream of having, the music industry's a revolving door, most of these artists are a flash in a pan, G-Unit and any of these sucka mcs are a joke, they might claim to have a lot of money but they ain't respected.... I really hope Ja's able to get on track with his life and come back from his prison sentence to continue making good music... Turntable also made a point about touring, a lot of the veteran mcs do touring and draw a bigger audience than artists who you hear on the radio, it's a new era now, the radio don't dictate what the real fans want....
  5. i find it funny how those g-unit teenyboppers are quick to say that ja rule was destroyed by g-unit, "Blood In My Eye" showed that ja is a strong battle rapper, and on the most part over the last 5 years g-unit has been putting out weaker material that has failed to even go gold, ja's been doing a lot of touring the past 5 years and he did release some good stuff over the internet... Now I know I made this point before about how I wouldn't say that rappers like Ja Rule and Nelly are legends like Fresh Prince and MC Hammer but you could tell that they admire the legends since they learned how to craft together good songs like the greats, that's something you can't say about most of today's so-called mcs....
  6. I like that song a lot Visqo, Ja and the R of R&B spit real talk right there, they've both had up and downs over the last decade and I always thought that song is a great way to get back at their critics... I heard R. Kelly put out another album today, I was reading online that Ronald Isley got a new album out too and I was thinking that if they did another "Down Low" together and turned it into a movie it'd be epic! Keith Sweat Feat. Left Eye "How Do You Like It"
  7. this is a sad situation, this is one rapper i was looking forward seeing comeback strong, i'd love to bring back those days of 8 years ago when his songs were on the radio, ja rule could make a better song than any of the soulja boy and flo rida garbage out there, last night when i read about him going to jail i was actually listening to his last album "r.u.l.e." that went platinum around the time that "lost and found" was out so his career ain't dead and 50 is such a loser, i don't have much respect for him anymore
  8. that'll be like somebody mentioning soulja boy 10 years from now when he's irrelevant, lol
  9. Mariah Carey "Christmas"(Baby Please Come With Home) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAJL3oHMBDw
  10. I didn't know that Joe released a Christmas album, I'm gonna give those songs a listen! I was watching a video of Christina Aguilera and Brian Mcknight performing "Have A Merry Xmas": bigted 2014 edit:
  11. B.O.B. No Genre Mixtape, this is that hot ish, better than most albums out, there's no doubt he's hip hop's rookie of the year http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/12798/bob_no_genre.html
  12. I love that Monica song, I also love this Joe song on that Platinum Christmas album, "This Christmas":
  13. Yeah I'd probably replace the Freeway album with B.O.B.'s album but I rather see somebody like him getting acknowledgement over a weak rapper like Lil' Wayne all the time, albums like that were mentioned on that list shows that there's still some dope stuff out there but unfortunately a lot of those albums people slept on this year, that's why hip hop's still at a weak state since a lot of the best stuff never gets credit as much as it should be, bet and mtv don't have the balls to put together a list as good as this
  14. well if anybody like those mcs made the song like that i'd say the same thing, a lot of mcs ending up force cursing in their songs so much that it doesn't make sense, let's get it clear that even though i'm a fan of dmx doesn't mean that i approve of everything he says in his songs, btw you mentioned ice cube, i like the west side connection song on the friday after next soundtrack:
  15. Yeah there's nothing wrong with Montell Jordan wanting to be a pastor, he isn't perfect but he has a genuine heart and faith that could be used to inspire more people to turn their lives around so more power and god bless to him for wanting to do something positive like this.....
  16. Nas is signed to Def Jam too still I believe but his music has been poorly promoted and they don't want to put out his "Lost Tapes 2" either, we see how they've poorly promoted the G.O.A.T. LL Cool J's last few albums as well, Def Jam ain't in the golden era no more... I'm surprised about Kurtis Blow since he's supposed to be a minister now, then again maybe he has glaucoma or something for medical use so maybe that's why he had the marijuana, we don't know all the sides to the story.... Congrats to Monica and Brandy/Ray J for doing their thing....
  17. That's a dope song AJ, Quad City brings the energy! I like that J. Cole song but your point about him cursing on it so much is definately the one thing that keeps it from being a classic song....
  18. I found this new song on J. Cole's mixtape called "Home For The Holidays":
  19. Dr. Dre Feat. Game and Snoop Dogg "Kush"(Remix), the past present and future west coast masters, this is some HEAT!!
  20. Yeah that's a surprise especially since The Black Eyed Peas were recently announced as the first hip hop act to perform at the Super Bowl since the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction, they had a big year, but on the positive note at least Lil' Wayne ain't nominated...
  21. In recent years I'm not really much of a fan of these award shows since most of my favorites don't get nominated or win, I did watch some of that Grammy nominations concert to see if LL would perform something but he just mc'd the show, Eminem and Katy Perry probably are more deserving to win among the nominees in the main categories, R. Kelly and Usher should dominate the r&b categories although I think Keith Sweat's album "Ridin' Solo" should've been considered, on another note I was happy to see B.O.B. get nominated 'cause he's one of the more creative new mcs out there, "Nothin' On You" is one of the best songs that came out in years... I think that Nas/Damien Marley album should've been considered for album of the year 'cause that's brilliant music, I've listened to that more than anything else this year....
  22. Most of those artists you mentioned were signed by Dame Dash, Jay-Z signed Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, and some r&b singers, so basically him signing J. Cole and Jay Electronica recently shows a step in the right direction for promoting some quality hip hop, only time'll tell though if they'll have success.... Fabolous Feat. Missy Elliot "Sickalicious"
  23. i was reading on the rolling stone mag's website and i noticed they gave kanye's album 5 stars, like i said the music on the album's a step in the right direction but i don't think it's worth all that hype, when rappers like kanye and eminem put out something good after all the crap they put out in between people overreact like it's the greatest thing ever and that's ridiculous....on another note congrats for him outselling nicki minaj and lloyd banks though 'cause i rather see a good mainstream album sell something for a change, and of course it's sad that eminem's album been out since the summer and that it's still selling on the top half of the charts while better quality albums that came out in the summer like nas/damien marley and the roots fell off fast, those albums deserve to win grammys but most like eminem will win again....
