  1. How many albums do 50 Cent and Lil' Wayne have to ruin?
  2. I was listening to this nonstop this afternoon, simply amazing
  3. I found the Do It Roger mix of "Don't Stop", Teddy Riley is the only one besides Roger Troutman who does a dope job at auto-tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_MVVGWnG7I
  4. 2Pac "Changes"(Original), this is NICE!!!
  5. I like some rappers that people label gangsta rappers like 2Pac, Ice Cube, DMX, and Snoop but they display many sides to themselves that I don't really consider them gangsta rap, they represent the real hip hop, I don't really like categorizing music so much, to quote Common I just like what I like and if I don't like something that don't mean that I'm hating... The problem it comes down to with a lot of rappers today is that they don't try pushing the creative bar and show other sides to themselves, it seems like every song on a Lil' Wayne mixtape is a repeat of the same boring song... Let's be clear, I just can't respect somebody's opinion if they're gonna cuss me and others out in every sentence, that's not being hard, that's being uneducated... They're a bunch of "laptop gangstas" like LL Cool J likes to call them, maybe they should spend more time learning how to read a book rather than spending all day cussing people out over the internet....
  6. I'd be curious to see a lyric or a quote from most of today's radio rappers that's as real as this: Message In The Music(Album Insert Of Active Duty) This recording is dedicated to our country and to the spirit and strength of our people. The diversity of music on this record represents the diversity of our nation. Many people from different ethic backgrounds together making beautiful and powerful songs. I support our president and our nation. We have been attacked and violated. Evil does not recognize peace. Evil only recognizes stength and power greater than it. I pray for our country. Stand up and fight. We cannot allow fear to grip our nation. Fear is not of God. The enemy uses fear to tear us down. Those who want peace must understand that peace is worth fighting for. When you march against our country defending itself, you are marching against freedom and peace. I reject your position but support your right to voice it. The right you excercising only happens in a democratic society. I am a proud US Navy anti-submarine warfare veteran. I talk the talk and walk the walk. To my brothers and comrades in the Armed Forces I love you and support you. USA. Stay alret and focused. We honor you and your families. To the families of the innocent victims, I offer prayers to my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ to comfort you and heal your hearts. We will triumph. -MC Hammer
  7. well that's what i think seperates krs one from other rappers is that not only is he a great lyricist but his music got that boom bap feel to it, some rappers make you feel like you're sitting through a lecture 'cause even though they could spit they got weak beats, then the rappers like rick ross don't have the talent that matches the music they're rapping over....
  8. The thing that I think is funny about a lot of these so called "internet gangstas" is that they got the nerve to say "you should drink bleach if you listen to this soft rapper" like i'm retarded but their favorite rapper couldn't create a whole sentence without using profanity and more than likely the "internet gangsta" is doing the same thing in all their posts, there's countless interviews and posts that hammer's made online and on his album inserts to show that he got more intelligence than a lot of these rappers and they're fans combined.... You could say that Mobb Deep are more lyricists than Run-Dmc but what seperates Run-Dmc from Mobb Deep is that their music is more original and enjoyable, that's why I like Hammer more than Talib too, this is music now we're referring to, not just a poet slam, that's why LL's more of a famous rapper than Canibus after they battled 'cause even though Canibus is a good poet LL makes more enjoyable CDs, you have to be more than one dimensional, that's what seperates the original artists from the others....
  9. well the origins of this thread was from the frustrations i felt with how a lot of dumb kids and critics have responded to hammer over the years about how he's this soft and weak talented rapper, this really don't have much to do with you or anyone on this board since we're more open minded than a lot of peeps from other boards are, that's why i like this board the best, i just felt like making this thread to give some props to the man who's always stood up for himself, and btw that's another misconception people make about big pun and talib kweli, they put out some classic records, they're more than just lyricists, I like their songs too, all in all hammer's a hip hop great just like they are....
  10. I found the "Funky Headhunter" track just now on Youtube, this is one of the hardest diss tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-jJ00uhGk0
  11. MC Shan "The Bridge", LL sampled this song on "Dear Hip Hop" which is one of the tracks from "Exit 13" that a lot of hip hop heads praise:
  12. If facebook was around during the time "lost and found" came out and we did the cause about how we fans wanted another JJFP album then it'd had quite a bit of people joining....
  13. Looking back overall as I listened to "Lost and Found" today for the first time in a while, I'd say that FP did a great job in how he handled the whole "Mr. Nice Guy" situation, he defended his image, Eminem woke up to make better music too, and since then rappers have stopped running their mouths about how wack he is, more have actually giving him props so whenever FP decides to come back to spit in the booth again he'll be welcomed by all the real fans out there....
  14. Snoop's always been the man without a doubt, you just don't get more cooler than him, I'm actually bumping "Pump Ya Brakes" right now, and basically in the 2000s some of LL's songs has been more aimed towards the "top 40" than his earlier vintage material where it had more of a sound of his own but lyrically he always brings it, I'd like to see him do his next album like he was originally planning to do with "10" by enlisting his original producers like Rick Rubin and Marley Marl to handle the bulk of the sounds on it...
  15. "Exit 13" might not be on the level of some LL's classic albums but the material on there's still better than most of the radio stuff out these days, I think it's cool that he collabed with Fat Joe & Sheek Louch 'cause they're talented rappers and the song might've been tighter if it was more aggressive street song like "4, 3, 2, 1" but it's a cool club banger, LL does try too hard to please everyone sometimes you could admit, I get the feeling if Def Jam properly promoted "Exit 13" it probably could've gone diamond like FP's "Big Willie Style" did 'cause it's a good pop rap album, I take it for what it is.... Yeah Left Eye's one of the best mcs ever, she put out a lot of strong, witty, and intelligent lyrics in those TLC songs... Btw I'm listening to "Lost and Found" album right now....
  16. LL Cool J Feat. Fat Joe & Sheek Louch "Come and Party With Me"
  17. well i do give y'all some props for listening to hammer's discography before forming an opinion, that's far better than judging him off of one song like most do, we could agree to disagree, I wanted to add that's what frustrates me the most is when fans form an opinion off of one song on the radio or one music video on MTV, I don't do that when I form an opinion 'cause I got used Jay-Z and Kanye CDs, I borrowed 50's book from the library, I watched 8 mile when it aired on VH1, I bought some Lil' Wayne mixtapes from the corner store, it's not like I just criticise them from what's on the air, really you summed it up big willie let's just move on.... what you said in your signature about how people have reacted towards mj's death is the reflection of the music industry, fans are fickle...
  18. well i've been thinking there's gonna come a day when the true artists will get their due, unfortunately they might not be alive to see it, if hammer died today people would probably turn to listen to his music again just like the day that michael jackson died, michael jackson lost a lot of his popularity in his last years of life but the moment he died people started buying his music, we seen how much criticism pac and biggie had for ruining hip hop's image in the middle of their "east-west beef" before they died but now they're hailed as the 2 greatest rappers, guru's getting more recognition after he died recently when for years people been sleeping on him...
  19. Diddy reminds me of the non lyrical version of Jay-Z, they'll both do anything to be popular but the real fans don't respect them, they both used to collaborate with real rappers back in the mid-90s but now they're going after the Lil' Wayne fanbase....
  20. Diddy goes from working with mc legends like Heavy D and Biggie to garbage artists like Rick Ross and Young Jeezy, Biggie must be rolling in his grave....
  21. Yo Jim how the hell could you say Kanye's one of the better rappers ever and Hammer ain't? Hammer's far more consistant than Kanye could ever dream of being, and btw Jay-Z' the one who's a coward 'cause just like Visqo said he makes fun of other rappers but yet he don't want to battle them for the throne, he even dissed Fresh Prince in a Source interview back in '98 by saying even though "Big Willie Style" is popular he's still a better rapper than him and he also dissed him on "Change The Game": "I'm still spittin' the real s***, Vol. 3 sold more records than Will Smith, and I come back to do it again", to me that line sounds like he said Will's not real but he is and that's why he sells more records than him... I think it's time for FP and LL to unite with Hammer and bring some "real" back into hip hop.... Btw I was gonna keep this to myself and let this thread die down but it has to be said about how Jay-Z tore down his mentors Jaz-O, Sauce Money, and Dame Dash, on his way to the top, Jay-Z don't have no integrity in his soul, he's just as bad as Diddy with Bad Boy, what Hammer been saying is true, Jigga basically sold his soul to the devil just to be popular, he has no integrity.... I remember a lot of Eminem fans were saying that Eminem saying that Will don't have to curse to sell records while he does so f him is a fact too and that Will waiting 5 years to respond was a gimmick but the truth is that it's never too late to respond, it's a gimmick to me when you say things that you don't mean... Hammer stands by everything that he says when he defends himself, he's gotten more people to recognise that he's as real as it gets so he's not gonna keep on saying things about Jay-Z since Jay-Z' too much of a coward to respond back again, time to move on bottomline...
  22. At this point I could care less about what's "hot" on the mainstream level, when you compare Kanye to real rappers he falls short, Kanye works with most of those garbage rappers that you mentioned Jim btw, if he does some better work with real rappers like Common again then maybe I'll care... btw, I got more respect for mcs like Chuck D who say "F Bush" and back it up with intelligent dialogue more than Kanye who comes out like an idiot when he can't back what he says...
  23. Well dissing Hammer for going bankrupt is not original, bottomline no matter what people may think of Hammer they can't say that he's a coward, I like the way he handled the whole Jay-Z situation, he said what he had to and now he's moving on, that's real people do.... http://www.sohh.com/2010/11/mc_hammer_is_on_to_the_next_one_jay-z_to.html
