  1. This is pure entertainment, thank god for a real hip-hop battle for a change, this'll be like Jordan in his prime verses Kobe in his prime, both are sure to light up the scoreboard here, top notch competition, I just can't wait really, this is what the game needs, people love the aggressive flows
  2. I ain't ruining hip-hop one bit, if I don't feel Jay-Z songs as much as Fat Joe, Game, FP, LL, DMX, etc. then I just can't put him above all of them, Fat Joe is an ill spitting mc, so what he don't have the commercial success that Jay-Z has, does that mean that he's less talented? KRS and Rakim are on the same level as LL Cool J and FP even though they don't sell the same amount of records, so Nas and Fat Joe are on the same level as Jay-Z and Eminem even though they don't sell the same amount, when Biggie was alive he said that he enjoyed Fat Joe's "Jealous Ones Envy" record, KRS-ONE and LL got love for Fat Joe too
  3. There's no way Jay-Z could defeat LL, LL been in the rap game longer than most of us here been born, he knows what he's doing, he got nothing to lose here, LL's gonna at least hold his own 'cause when he's pissed he gets fired up, he just can't seem to live without the competition, Jay-Z better know what he's doing if he responds, he should be begging LL not to diss him, LL's a big name artist too, even if the battle don't work out, he could have a top playing show on CBS that he's working on and he got a big film deal that he's signed to, his career's set already, it's just something to boost his competitive juices, just sit back and enjoy the battle, 2 big time successful rap artists going at it is gonna be top notch entertainment for the masses, LL's album should at least go platinum like "Lost and Found" alone just the thought of it happening, it's just like when Will said he had something for Eminem
  4. Well Illseed on allhiphop.com now says LL's planning to make some disses towards Jay-Z, hell yeah baby, I can't wait, it's time for everyone to see who the real 23 of rap is, time for LL to get another championship ring to his legacy, I wish Will had some of LL's fire to diss somebody like this 'cause he coulda buried Eminem if he tried harder, all those rich big shots like Eminem do is pay their way on the radio but FP and LL sell records off of skills alone! http://www.allhiphop.com/rumors/?ID=1154 LL COOL J TO DISS JAY-Z? Here we are talking two of the greatest battle rappers ever. LL Cool J has taken out all comers, from Canibus to Kool Moe Dee.... Then there is Jay-Z, who dueled with Nas and dropped of more MC's than Aftermath. Rumor has it LL is going to take it to Jay-Z in a rap battle. LL told MTV, "How am I gonna re-sign with competition? I'm not an idiot. I can't depend on that man to promote my record while he's somewhere writing rhymes. I'm LL Cool J. I ain't doing that, B." As you know, 50 Cent and LL have become very good buds. Now, there is a fake Jay-Z diss from 50 Cent that had me confused. But there is a new 50 Cent album in the 07 plan and I heard there are coarse words for Jay-Z coming from LL.
  5. This'll be Jay-Z' final #1 album if LL decides to knock him out, he probably bought most of those albums himself 'cause I don't see what all the hype's about, Game, Snoop, and Fat Joe all put out better albums than him this month, probably even the doctored 2Pac album is better than his album, he shouldn't have dropped DMX either 'cause he put out a great record too, record sales don't mean ****, if that were the case Eminem and Vanilla Ice are the GOAT right? Watch his sales drop once he stops paying for his TV appearances, it's time to promote the other artists on there like LL, Method Man, Roots, and Lady Soverign, and if he don't promote Nas' record he could get ethered for good as well :nhawong: On another note I think Game's song was #3 on TRL yesterday so he'll be fine, Jay-Z' song didn't even make the countdown that's how much the hype's dying down already, it's gonna be a big fall off for his sales, lol, Fat Joe's album sales will probably increase dramatically since the next single is "War" with Game, that's probably one of the better tracks on there...
  6. Daron Jones Leaves 112, Group Future In Jeopardy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Atlanta-based R&B quartet 112 is now short one member, due to Daron Jones'recent departure from the group. The foursome have released five albums since their discovery by Sean "Diddy" Combs outside of Atlanta's popular night club 112, in 1995. MTV.com has said that the future of the group is now in jeopardy and calls to the group's label, Def Soul, weren't returned at press time. Jones, who is also the group's in-house producer, has been keeping busy by producing hits for Keyshia Cole, Usher, Kelly Price, and Sammie. Prior to the announcement of Jones'departure, group member Slim explained that the foursome doesn't always agree on everything. He said: "You know, creatively, we've changed in a lot of ways, and a lot of times we get together and don't agree and want to say different things but I mean the consensus is to just vote on it and just roll. For the most part, the dynamic of the group in terms of the way we get along is pretty much the same." Slim added: "We grew up together -- grew up in the same neighborhood. We went to the same schools and, like, for the most part, we really respect each other even though we're four individuals. I mean, but when we come together, we're definitely a group, and we pretty much know that we need each other. It's not about the money because we love music. We're true musicians and, you know, we could be singing in front of 50,000 people or we can be singing on the corner, but as long as one person is happy and we got our point across, we're happy." 112's last release was 2005's Pleasure and Pain. The project continued a downward sales spiral for the group which began with 2003's Hot & Wet. The group's 1996 self-titled debut, 1998's Room 112, and 2001's Part III, were all certified double platinum for sales of two million copies each.
  7. Looking forward to this, I'm gonna make sure I get my VCR set, gonna get that soundtrack too
  8. Yeah and Bow Wow is irrelevant at this point, he destroyed his career by dissing Will, he says he bought some Mcdonald's in an interview but he probably means that he works at Mcdonald's now :nhawong:
  9. He said he's still working on it in a recent interview for the next album, he wants to make sure he does it proper, 14 albums worth of material to cover, EDIT: Damn I can't believe I forgot to watch the premiere of "Hip-Hop Is Dead" video tonight on BET at 8PMEST, I really wanted to see it too, did anybody here watch tonight?
  10. Speaking of Chuck D I made a post about this on the Enemy board and he responded back: http://www.publicenemy.com/pb/viewtopic.php?p=172302#172302 "LL is Wilt Chamberlain....Jay is Jordan...embodiment..of everyone up to his point.."-Chuck D: Then I just replied and made a whole list of what each rapper would be if they're NBA players, that's fun to do, lol: LL=Jordan Slick Rick=Ewing Chuck D= Barkley Flava Flav=Dennis Rodman(weird as hell but cool at the same time, lol) EPMD=Pippen and Payton Redman=Shawn Kemp Russell Simmons=Phil Jackson JJFP=Stockton and Malone Queen Latifah=Cynthia Cooper Roxanne Chante=Nancy Lieberman MC Lyte=Lisa Leslie KRS= Bill Russell(great albums/ championship rings about the same, most consistant careers) Nas=Shaq Jay-Z=Kobe Run-Dmc and Kurtis Blow=Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain Dr. Dre=Magic Johnson 50 Cent=Ron Artest(both annoy the hell out of me)
  11. You can't read everything you read in the tabloids, that's personally why I'd never want to be famous 'cause you get all these people gossiping things about your life that ain't true, that'd annoy the crap out of me
  12. That's cool that you're getting involved in marketing and promotion on a record label, that's probably something that I'd probably consider doing, I enjoy writing songs and freestyling but I'd probably rather work more behind the scenes than being an artist if I ever make the music buisiness after basically hearing all the struggles artists go through, from reading various artists interviews and books I don't think I'd want that pressure, I like reading Chuck D's terrordomes every month on publicenemy.com 'cause he gives so much insight, I want to start my own imprint in my local area and sign any inspiring artists of any genre as long as they're talented artists that love music and promote and produce for them, I'd probably be more of a producer/song writer than an artist, I don't want all the drama that comes with it, I'm more of a laid back dude, maybe just do an album for fun is what I probably want to ultimately do, btw it's cool how Chuck D emails his fans back, me and him been having a debate on why he considers Jay-Z the best rapper ever, he don't really like much of his songs either but from a skill level he respects him, Chuck D is really more of a friend to his fans than just an artist, I wish more were like him, if I get big one day I want to do the same thing to my fans, he's like the Charles Barkley of rap in my view 'cause of his talents but he also very intelligent and a great commentator, he could talk to you about anything
  13. Well i dont think JD want Janet anywhere near LL... lol.. He's gonna los love of his life(who's too good for him IMO) to a hunk like LL.. Yeah that's true, Marc Anthony got mad at LL 'cause J-Lo was flirting with him during the video shoot, lol
  14. Well yeah the music industry in general is in a slump right now, not just Def Jam, but really though Def Jam has been about quality music being promoted, that's what seperated them from other labels, but now with promoting Rick Ross and Young Jeezy really they're just another label, Luda's a B-rated rapper so it's a stepup in promotion, but itreally wouldn't be that significant if LL went somewhere else 'cause that label ain't the same anymore, it's really gonna be hard for Jay-Z to live up to the legacy that Russell Simmons left, it's not gonna be easy, but if he wants that title thenhe has to take that responsibility and the criticism that comes with it if he don't deliver, not just use the title for his own benefit if he wants respect for his position, right now Def Jam ain't different from Columbia, Interscope, or the other major labels where before it used to stand out with quality music being promoted and was critically aclaimed.... btw if Interscope drops G-Unit one day I could see Lloyd Banks still having a career if he leaves the group and branches on his own like Game 'cause he got nice mic skills, he's the one that stands out the most in there, and 50's probably gonna try be an actor, he ain't really gonna rap that much longer I believe, he's just milking every minute of fame that he has and when it's gone he won't rap anymore,he's probably asking Will and LL for acting tips right now more than anything, he's working on a film with Samuel L. Jackson, he said in his book that he considers himself a hustler like Diddy so that's what he's gonna try to do, he knows he'll never be the nicest rapper, he's just really doing buisiness moves.... btw, "Control Myself" is cool but J-Lo didn't do anything on it really, it was a nice throwback flow on it with the '80s sample, Janet Jackson would've been perfect on there, she's much more hotter and talented, I don't know why that didn't happen especially with her boo producing the track, I believe if LL did a track with Janet that'd be a huge hit and they could do a real creative video...
  15. Yeah there's some scenes on "Run's House" where Rev. Run's in the studio with him, he is pretty good, quite interesting to see a lot of kids in the families of legends are getting influenced to come in the rap game, Ice Cube mentioned that in an interview that his son produces
  16. Well I never actually timed it yet, I just played it in my stereo where you can't see the time on it, I'll just throw in my PC here and see how long it is, yeah it is 9:22, but is there an even longer version?
  17. Well Canibus mentioned something in "Second Round Knockout" about LL and Jay-Z having some tension, they were never really close homies I don't believe but they do got respect for each other musically, really I think it's like the DMX/Jay-Z situation, LL's probably gonna just leave the label, it's probably the best thing for him at this point, Jay-Z got a big ego, he's not gonna promote any great rapper on the same level as him as much as he promotes himself... Now you can't compare Diddy's promotion to LL's promotion, most people don't really consider Diddy an artist, he hasn't had a hit album in almost 10 years, he was basically selling a lot off the hype of Biggie's death, I remember having debates with kids in my school when that album dropped and I told them that Puffy won't be around much longer after the hype of Biggie's death dies down and I was right, that album sold like 8 million 'cause he was Biggie's homie but then "Forever" came out the next year and that didn't go platinum and neither did any of his other albums since then, and plus the fact that everyone in the world knows that he don't write his own raps, and basically he's more of a buisinessman than a rap artist, if his wasn't a smart buisinessman he wouldn't have a career, I give him credit for that, can't knock his hustle, but I could knock his music, lol,but LL's known for having the most consecutive rap albums go platinum so when he don't go platinum it's like Cal Ripken sitting out a game, and now there's no way Young Jeezy is the next Slick Rick LL's better off leaving Def Scam 'cause it's garbage now, it ain't worth staying there the way it is, Jay-Z'll promote C-Rated rappers and r&b singers but no A rated rappers besides himself, if LL and Jay-Z came out in the same quarter Jay-Z'd promote himself much more than LL, if he promotes Nas as much as himself I'll consider it a miracle, which ain't happening, less than 3 weeks and there's no videos? There was advertisements all the time on TV6 weeks in advance for Jay-Z album, Nas should've stayed on Columbia, I think they gave him better promo, "Made You Look" and "I Can" were playing on MTV in heavy rotation by the time "God's Son" was on release, they don't wait till the last week to release the video for his album... Nowif LL puts out a classic album with the type of reputation he has as a respected rapper, he'll still go platinum even with G-Unit on it, if he comes up and performs I don't think he'll be stopped, unless Jay-Z tries to pay the stations not to play LL's songs, lol, and well if LL's selling out for working with G-Unit, Jay-Z sold out by signing Rick Ross and doing songs with him 'cause everyone in G-Unit is a better rapper than he is, well maybe not Tony Yayo, I'll give Ross the advantage there, lol...
  18. Well I'd imagine there would be a lot of guests on this album, there's a reason why he went to Def Jam, he wants this album to sell millions, and I hope he does too, it's time for real mcs to top the charts for a change, yeah basically what's been released so far I think this album's gonna be his best album in quite a while, Nas always delivers though, btw speaking of Game where could you get that extended version of "Why You Hate On The Game?" with Nas featured on it, I remember Game saying there was a 10 minute version of the song but it was too long to go on his album so there was the shorter version there instead, is it on a mixtape?
  19. Rev. Run's Son JoJo Preps Hip-Hop Debut By Alexis Jeffries Date: 11/28/2006 4:00 pm Reverend Run's son Joseph Simmons Jr., or JoJo, is attempting to make a mark on the Hip-Hop scene as one-third of his NYC-based rap group, Team Blackout. "I'm trying to bring Hip-Hop back," JoJo told AllHipHop.com. "I feel like Hip-Hop is a bunch of just dance moves." Currently in the studio, Simmons, 16, and his fellow group mates began rhyming with each other early on in grade school and decided to make their music stint official. Simmons, who raps under the alias "Make It Happen," says he met his group members, "Conscious" from Queens, NYC and "LP" from Hempstead, Long Island, in 7th and 9th grade, and have been working together for the past two years to make an album for fans of real Hip-Hop. Simmons says he is actively trying to get out from under the shadows of his famous father, Rev. Run of Run-DMC. He admits, however, that being around his father has been a good training ground for entering the music industry. "I was on tour with my dad. In London before performing with my dad, signing autographs," Simmons says of the fame he achieved after two seasons on MTV's hit series, Run's House. "So I'm use to it. I'm ready to show what I got." The most valuable lesson he has taken from famous family members and mentors (including his uncle and aunt, Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons and mentor Bishop Jordan), is "if you take shortcuts in life, you get cut short." Even after reportedly approaching his uncle Russell, founder of Def Jam Records, about starting a production company under his new label Russell Simmons Music Group, the young MC has decided to make it on his own in the music game to prove his credibility outside of his famed father. Team Blackout is currently in the studio working on their album. They have seven or eight tracks done, Simmons says, and Hip-Hop fans can only expect the best from Rev. Run's son, JoJo "Make It Happen" Simmons.
  20. Well LL did mention he's doing a mixtape, maybe that's where he'd maybe make that knockout track, I don't think Jay-Z'll releasing LL's album if he's ripping him on it, lol, I think LL has a legit beef though I mean come on now it's getting ridiculous how everytime I turn on the TV I see Jay-Z, he needs to promote the artists on the label, not just himself, hip-hop don't evolve around only him, he needs to realise that, he don't own hip-hop, btw LL's been through his share of controversey too, that's basically how him and 50 are similar, obviously he wants to be that way again, and well if this makes him create a classic I'm all for it what can I say... I really think this is something that could be resolved behind closed doors but if this is something that could give LL an extra motivation on his album then by all means he should just bust some shots to the dome, how do you know maybe LL wanted to talk to Jay-Z but Jay-Z was too busy to talk to him? This is why probably that's why LL's making these comments 'cause Jay-Z don't want to listen, we know how much of a rat Jay-Z could be, so it's time for LL to make him bite the cheese, lol, remember that Jay-Z went on vacation when he was supposed to shoot a video with DMX, which lead X to leave the label, maybe X should lend a hand in the battle too, I'd love to see that happen, "Year Of The Dog..Again" is an aggressive record, he could bring out the best of LL too, another "4,3,2,1" is needed... I think LL should just let it all out in the music and it'll be something that'll put Jigga in permanent retirement, and of course maybe if LL and 50 have a disagreement in the studio like what happened between Canibus then LL could bury him too, it's gonna be an entertaining 2007
  21. There was a lot of hot albums during the summer too, 2006 was a great year for hip-hop, I don't see how it's dead really, yeah that cover is awesome too, a lot of great guests on there too
  22. Hopefully Nas comes strong here and it lives up to all the hype, btw the one thing I don't get is why does Will.I.Am only sing the hooks when he's featured, why doesn't he rap on any of them?
