  1. Yeah well I was just making the point that Pac was a great lyricist too, Big Pun was great with his lyrics too, it's really hard to compare 'cause they got different styles
  2. If this 2Pac verse ain't lyrical than what is?: "They got me trapped Can barely walk tha city streets Without a cop harrassing me, searching me Then asking my identity Hands up, throw me up against tha wall Didn't do a thing at all I'm tellen you one day these suckers gotta fall Cuffed up throw me on tha concrete Coppers try to kill me But they didn't know this was tha wrong street Bang bang, down another casualty But it's a cop who's shot there's brutality Who do you blame? It's a shame because tha mans slain He got caught in tha chains of his own game How can I feel guilty after all tha things they did to me Sweated me, hunted me Trapped in my own community One day i'm gonna bust Blow up on this society Why did ya lie to me ? I couldn't find a trace of equality Work me like a slave while they laid back Homie don't play that It's time I lett'em suffer tha payback I'm tryin to avoid physical contact I can't hold back, it's time to attack jack They got me trapped"
  3. Well it's gonna have to be the greatest album ever to top "Illmatic"
  4. Chuck made a comment on his last terrordome in July: "Yes finally a few Public Enemy tours are in the making, and August -September will be the time we rehearse in what promises to be a standout show. With NEW WHIRL ODOR and REBIRTH songs added as well as pulling songs from twenty years of PE. Internationally in October, then November across the states, the first complete with FLAV since 1999 as far as full tour. With FLAV's TV show popularity I'm interested to see the make up of this audience and definitely eased to share the stage and perform at full effort and half motor."
  5. Flavor Flav Raps, Sings On Debut Solo Album By Nolan Strong Date: 9/12/2006 4:40 pm Rapper Flavor Flav, the current star of VH1's top rated reality series Flavor of Love 2, is preparing the release of a new self-titled album this Halloween. Flavor Flav, born William Drayton Jr., announced the album will be released on his own independent label, Draytown Records, which is distributed by Redeye Distribution. "I got some things off my chest, but not all," Flav said. "I doubt I will ever do another one, though. What I'm gonna do is make this one a collector's item. My first and only solo album, ever." Flavor Flav, known as "the greatest hypeman in Hip-Hop," rose to fame with pioneering rap group Public Enemy, releasing poignant, controversial political statements. The group became well known for such hits as "Don't Believe the Hype," "Rebel Without a Pause," "Fight the Power," "911 is a Joke" and others, which featured Flavor Flav's distinctive personality and vocals. As a member of Public Enemy, he was featured on landmark Hip-Hop albums like Yo! Bum The Show! (1987), It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back (1988) Fear Of A Black Planet (1990) and others. The rapper has recorded several albums throughout his career, but none have ever been released. Flavor Flav enters uncharted territory on the album, by singing two R&B songs, "Let It Show" and "Two Wrongz (Don't Make a Right)." "I'm saying some, real true positive stuff in there, too," Flavor Flav continued. "Once they get used to it, I think people can accept me singing." The first single from the album is the rap/rock single "Flavor Man." The new season of VH1's reality series Flavor of Love is the latest in a string of television successes for the rapper. The rapper appeared in The Surreal Life (2003), Strange Love (2005) and most recently, 2006's Flavor of Love. The show features 20 girls who compete in elimination style competition, all in an attempt to find the right woman for Flavor Flav. When the second series of "Flavor of Love" premiered in Aug. 2006, the show drew over 3 million viewers, making it the most watched series debut in VH1's history. Flavor Flav is currently planning a new album and tour of the United States with Public Enemy. "Flav is beyond limits. I'm just gonna keep going and going and going and going and going until I can't go no more."
  6. Besides "Summertime" which is in a category all of its own, I gotta say "I'm Looking For The One"
  7. Well I guess it clears it up there's no Michael Jackson or Rakim on the album, I was looking forward to those collabs, there's been quite a bit of hot albums lately in hip-hop with Outkast, DMX, Method Man, The Roots, Busta, etc, and now with Nas dropping at the end of the year it shows that hip-hop still has quite a bit of life left...
  8. Yeah it's natural for it to be leaked the week before the album being released, I wonder how it could be an issue, I had no idea it was even coming out yet, they probably just pushed it up since it leaked
  9. "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor" Sprouts A Leak...Again Tuesday - September 12, 2006 by Dick Johnson Lupe Fiasco's debut LP Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor has reportedly leaked onto the internet for the second time. Earlier this year, the Chi-Town emcee's debut LP leaked nearly two months before its intended June 27th release date. The album was consequently postponed. At the time, Lupe assured SOHH.com that listeners only got to hear roughly 40% of the album with collaborations with Jill Scott, Three Six Mafia and Jay-Z still in the works. "Daydreamin," a single featuring Jill Scott is slated to follow-up Fiasco's current single, the Pharrell Williams-assisted, "I Gotcha." Hov serves as the album's co-executive producer. Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor is slated to hit stores September 19th on 1st & 15th/Atlantic Records.
  10. Well I think that maybe if Jigga wanted to step back for a minute and put energy into running Def Jam then he might be able to have success but with him working on a new album and doing concerts is really showing that he really doesn't deserve to have that opportunity, he's really just after having the title that way it could promote his image so he could sell more albums himself, JD has success at being head of a record label 'cause he's more of a producer, he's not out there doing concerts and he don't put out that much of his own songs
  11. Yeah that's true but those artists ain't really considered the best artists in hip-hop, Def Jam used to represent classic hip-hop on a mainstream, the problem lies that Jigga needs to sign better new artists and give support to the legends that're still there, I think the best thing would be for somebody that's not an artist to take over as president of Def Jam, somebody like Dame Dash would be good, Jay gets too much credit for Roc-A-Fella but it was Dame Dash that was the head of that, you see only Kanye is shining now on there since Dame Dash left, it don't have to be Dash necessarily but the main thing would be though that the new president of Def Jam won't be an artist is the point I'm making... Jay's not a good president, he's a good artist though...
  12. Well this is great news if it's true, if Jigga wants to rap still he shouldn't be Def Jam president, LL said it best that Jay-Z is only good at promoting Jay-Z, Def Jam has fallen off ever since Russell Simmons left, it used to represent the best of hip-hop but not anymore
  13. www.okayplayer.com Speaking of Def Jam, 2007, and Jay-Z (watch the A&E videos for ?uesto's commentary on the new Jay-Z)... rumor on the street is that Jay's been fired. Of course, when this news officially comes out, it will be positioned as if he's stepping down (just in time for his world tour and new album). Dig it, I don't know dude and I truly enjoy every one of his albums, but how any music exec could see past the fact that this label released albums from Method Man and The Roots ON THE SAME DAY with damn near no promotions (respective to how these artists are used to being treating) is totally beyond me. That being said, hopefully the climate at the label in 2007 will return to that which earned them the title as the greatest label in hip hop..... hopefully.
  14. btw there's gonna be a special on 2Pac on BET at 7:30PM US East Coast time tomorrow, some artists are gonna speak about how they felt about Pac, I saw Jada in the commercial clip...
  15. Yeah you can't really put 2Pac in the category as most rappers on the radio, he deserves to be in the same sentence as those like Chuck D, KRS, and Ice Cube, he was a powerful voice just like they are, he was like the Marvin Gaye of hip-hop, a voice of a generation... I felt like crying when I saw those ignorant kids on 106 & Park yelling out when they were asked what rapper 50 reminds them of the most and they said 2Pac
  16. Yeah well it'd be good if people could use trajedies like this as motivation to show heart and appreciate living more, btw damn it's kinda hard to believe it's been 5 years already, I was 16 years old at the time and was in gym class in high school when I heard about it
  17. TO who? Mcnabb gets 300+ passing yards and the Eagles won yesterday, just the first step to Super Bowl XL, they're going to Miami!! :gettinjiggywitit:
  18. Yeah I'm with you on that, it's definately a trajedy that should never be forgotten but there's other trajedy's going on in the world that deserve some attention too
  19. I think this is a new track 'cause I saw it being in the audio section on allhiphop.com a couple weeks ago if I'm not mistaken, it's fire, Skillz brings it as usual :kool:
  20. LL Cool J "How I'm Comin'" btw, I noticed that you mention Shaq there AJ, he was rapping in Kay Slay's video on Rap City
  21. Yeah I like MC Hammer but he definately wasn't the best rapper when he was selling all of those albums and there have been rappers with more skills than 50 over the past few years, and of course since I ain't a Loretta I say that "Big Willie Style" wasn't necessarily the best album FP did in his career even though it sold 12 million... btw it's obvious that 50 wanted to start more controversey 'cause come on now doesn't he have millions of dollars, why the hell wouldn't he get his car registered? It's like he's begging the cops to pull him over to get his name in the paper and if he was such a great buisinessman why don't he talk to Puffy behind close doors? I don't see Donald Trump running to the press to diss the person he's trying to negotiate with...
  22. Yeah it's unfortunate that most people only know Pac for what he did after he died, there wouldn't be that many people jumping on the bandwagon if he were living, he was talking about getting away from the commercial image that Death Row was putting on him so there's no chance in hell he'd work with many of these pop rappers that got on his matieral, I don't understand why Pac's mother has to try to water down his material for, I pray that we don't have Pac on the "Laffy Taffy" remix... It's kinda unfortunate that Pac and Biggie were beefing before they died 'cause that seemed to leave the energy for other rappers coming after to beef, we diss 50 for dissing others who work with Ja Rule but Pac dissed others who worked with Biggie, that's one thing about Pac that I didn't like either that turned out to impact negatively, I'm not a loretta where I talk about everything somebody does as being great, now I don't think Pac would've liked to remembered the most for beefing but that's part of the territory I guess and 'cause of that beef I don't think there's any way Biggie could be underrated, that's the dumbest thing I ever heard, in fact I think dissing Biggie ended doing a lot for Biggie, now whenever somebody thinks of Pac, they think about Biggie, they're linked in history even though Pac was much better, Biggie's the most overrated rapper of all time to me, his subject matter in songs was weak on the most part even though he had mic skills, he really rapped only about money, drugs, and hoes like most radio rappers do today, it's easier to imagine Biggie doing a song with Nelly than it'd be to see Pac do a song with Ja Rule or 50 but maybe if LL died 10 years ago wewouldn't picture him doing an album with 50 either, we don't really know for sure either way that's why those who were close to them at the time should be on their songs... Now alot of rappers like Biggie have mic skills but what seperates Pac from them is that he'd rap more about real life issues than they do/did and that's why he's one of the greatest, he rapped about what was going on in society, that's why people connected to him and still do... It'd be nice if rappers could be motivated to build on the thoughtful messages Pac put in most of the music while he was living instead of tarnishing Pac's legacy by bringing up his name in beefs that he wasn't a part of or would be a part of most likely but people feed off of negativity more it seems...
  23. With all these stunts 50 does it wouldn't surprise me if he did get hurt sooner or later, ever since he survived 9 shots he thinks he's superman but that ain't the case, he needs to check himself and quit being such an ass
  24. Charles Barkley always backed up his talk, playing well on both ends of the floor, there ain't many players in the NBA today that plays with the heart that he had as a player
