  1. Yeah I heard about Nas doing a new freestyle, some were saying that he dropped a few subliminals to G Unit in it....
  2. Hopefully Rakim gets on a label soon and drops an album, it's been a long time...
  3. not really, those conscious songs are only huge hits once or twice a decade, most hit songs these days have no content whatsoever and kanye wouldn't be that big if it wasn't for producing jay-z, there's a reason why he blew up, there's a lot of gospel rappers who make a lot of conscious songs but they got no big name connections so they don't get accepted by the mainstream... will doesn't get that much love in the industry so it'll be much harder for him to release "ms. holy roller" and be a hit, look how there was no support for "party starter" so imagine the type of blackballing "ms. holy roller" would get if released from will? now if a big name in the industry like jay-z released it it'd be huge though...
  4. btw, Slick Rick's birthday was also 2 weeks ago just like LL's, him and Jazzy are both 41 now, Rakim's 38 just like LL and soon to be FP but at least LL and Rakim won't have to worry about using Just For Men since they shave their heads anyway :kekeke:
  5. "Big Ole Butt" is classic, how could you call LL a boring rapper Lerk? :bat: You must not like many rappers if you feel that way, LL's one of the most entertaining rappers to ever bless the mic..
  6. millenium? exuse me it's the "willenium", lol I think somebody needs to buy the lil' pup a copy of "Lost and Found" :bat: that'd been awesome if he ran his mouth before the album came out, it'd been will vs. eminem, will vs. bow wow, lol
  7. Daily Hip-Hop News: SOHH Exclusive: Swizz Beatz Says Cassidy Is "Upset" Over Murder Trial Friday - January 27, 2006 by Dark Kent (w/ additional reporting from Zayda Rivera) Days after Cassidy was convicted for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault, SOHH.com spoke exclusively with his producer and close friend Swizz Beatz. As SOHH reported earlier this week, the Philadelphia MC (born Barry Reese) was sentenced to 11 ½ to 23 months in prison for the murder of Desmond Hawkins and wounding Hawkins' friends Bobby Hoyle and Daniel Irvin. Given that Cassidy was initially facing a murder charge, Swizz said Common Pleas Judge Jane Culter Greenspan's decision was "an excellent choice." "[Cassidy] is definitely feeling sorry for the family," Swizz told SOHH.com. "And he is definitely upset with himself for even being in that type of situation, especially with somebody that he knew-killing somebody that he knew." With seven months of his sentence already served, Cassidy could be released as early as May. So, what's the self-proclaimed "Problem" going to do once he is free? "He wants to bond with his family for a little while, get situated," said the Full Surface label honcho. "He's gone to come up with a game plan. The studio is always there for him. He's definitely fiending to get into the booth."
  8. please don't compare will to that egotistical fool kanye, a lot of people are upset that kanye would talk about watching porn but yet he dresses up on a magazine like he's god? will doesn't act like that, "ms. holy roller" is much better than anything kanye could come up with...
  9. maybe interscope's waiting until this september to release it :jusmindyabizness: Anyways, great video man, I love it!
  10. 'The Jones Experience' is the name of the record label that Nas is starting distributing through Def Jam, well I think Nas is planning on retitling the title for the album....
  11. Well they know they need each other anyway, Dre's making a lot of money off producing for 50, and 50's making money off of Dre's production, they might not be friends but it's a buisiness, they'll keep on collabing on music to the masses as long as it sells a lot, Dre wouldn't stop working with 50 unless 50 flops, Dre refused to work on a whole album with Rakim 'cause he knew it wouldn't sell, Rakim's not trying to do big numbers but Dre likes everything big so they weren't seeing eye to eye I think the same thing with KRS recently wanting to get Dre to help produce for him but KRS don't sell much so Dre refuses, but he'll work with 50 though, it's sad to see what happened to Dre, he's only in it for the $$$$ even though he's rich already, his beats ain't as inspiring as they once were either, he ain't no different than 50, they're greedy, they just do whatever it takes to sell but that don't mean quality, hopefully Dre puts some effort into this Floetry project for a change...btw the key word is "might" but I think Dre worked with 50 on the "GRODT" soundtrack anyway so that's a sign that Dre might produce some on 50's next project... The thing about Dre now is that a lot of times people just buy an album with Dre production just 'cause it's 'Dre', he's a brandname producer, people're hoping that it's groundbreaking music but they listen and they're dissapointed by it but they'll check things out faster still if it was Dre producing rather than an inhouse producer doing it just 'cause of Dre's status...
  12. 50 Cent not doing anything? Is he feeling all right? I thought he lives for beef... :stars:
  13. Nas Launching Own Imprint With Def Jam January 27, 2006, 11:00 AM ET Gail Mitchell, L.A. When Nas' first album under his new Def Jam Recordings pact is released later this year, it will be on his own imprint, the Jones Experience. The joint venture is a key component of the newly minted agreement between the artist and Def Jam president Jay-Z, which has Nas switching labels from Columbia to Def Jam. The jump follows on the heels of the rap icons' headline-making, onstage truce last October during a New York concert. "I've been in this business a long time and know what a great deal is," Nas (born Nasir Jones) tells Billboard in his first interview since news of the pact was reported. "I signed a significant and excellent situation." The deal's terms have Def Jam parent Island Def Jam and Columbia parent Sony Music participating as financial partners in Nas' first two albums under the four-album deal. Def Jam will provide A&R, promotion and distribution for the two sets, while the labels will share marketing. The recording budget for each album is $3 million. It has been reported that the $3 million includes advances for Nas, but sources familiar with the deal say the rapper received a separate, substantially higher advance. Sony retains ownership of the masters from Nas' 11-year tenure with Columbia as well as the right to release a greatest-hits collection not shared with Def Jam. Under terms of the pact, Nas will deliver two new tracks for a Sony hits package. Sony may also include up to three tracks from the joint albums on a hits compilation. The company's executives declined to comment. "Hip-hop needed this," says Mark Pitts, who, along with his management partner Wayne Barrow, scheduled a pre-truce sitdown between their client Nas and Jay-Z last fall. Barrow hopes the truce between the rappers can usher in a "different sensibility to hip-hop and take it back to the origin of what a beef is. Battling over lyrical prowess is one thing, but to turn it into a violent scenario is another. Kids are mimicking these situations as if they're real." As for the Jones Experience imprint, it will concentrate "first and foremost on hip-hop," Nas says, adding that he is open to other genres. Signings will be announced shortly. "This is so much bigger than me and Jay-Z," he adds. "We're both excited by what this could potentially mean for hip-hop as a whole."
  14. What's wrong with the beat? It's very dramatic and perfect for the tone of the song... How could the Mary fans not like it? They must be the bandwagon fans, I can't imagine the hardcore Mary fans not feelin' it, it's vintage soul!!! I don't really feel Mary's new album that much either, I don't see the big hype over it selling 1.2 million, probably just the new fans would like it, her earlier stuff's much better even though it was less popular, I've been listening to Mary for over a decade...
  15. I think a lot of people really are starting to get tired of hip-hop and it's really getting more unoriginal, you got cats sampling somebody who sampled somebody who sampled somebody, lol, nothing new is happening on the most part, you look at record sales, people don't buy it as much as they used to, I think it's gonna be strictly an underground music genre over the next decade or so the way things are going now, unless something spectacular happens again like when Run-Dmc came in and changed the game, but no matter what happens I'm still gonna keep on writing rhymes and freestyling, my goal is to still be doing it when I'm 45 years old even if I never make it big I still wanna keep doing it, I like to express myself through rhyme I'm gonna get a mic and start recording stuff soon enough, right now I'm focusing on getting a job then later on I'm gonna do that on my freetime in between, right now I just focus on battlin' friends in my area, they're easy comp for me but I like to poke on them in all fun, lol, and just writing rhymes, keeping my skills sharp, I'm trying to look for a DJ/producer in my area to help me but they're hard to find over here, some guy I was working with last year told me that he was gonna call and we were gonna hook up and record some stuff, he got DJ equipment but he never called me back, ultimately though I'm gonna try to do it on my own... Back to topic the future doesn't look that strong right now, it seems like it's the mcs that came out 10-15 years ago are the ones that're still on top...
  16. Don't forget about the JJFP inspired mcs: Da Brakes, FUQ, me, and Da Ace, we are the future!!! :yeah:
  17. Nick Cannon probably won't reach his potential in hip-hop 'cause he thinks he's Ice Cube and FP already and could release albums every 3 years while he does movies, overall not too many young mcs impress me that much, I think I got potential...
  18. btw, don't forget about Nick Cannon, there's not really too many top young mcs out now so I think he has a lot of hope still if he actually works at it, but he gotta quit acting like he's on FP's level already, he needs to release a lot of material now to prove that he's a dope mc, he hasn't done much yet...Yeah Freeway's been out for quite a few years now, I think a lot of those mcs you mentioned got some potential, they're all better than the Lil' Bow Wows and Lil' Romeos...
  19. Jay-Z' starting to build up Def Jam nicely now, they got The Roots, Nas, LL Cool J, Redman, and Ghostface, he should get JJFP and Public Enemy next too to return to the golden era again!!!
  20. Here's the quick link to post a review for "Lost and Found" at amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007QS4I...v=glance&n=5174 A link to post for "Willenium": http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000031XC...v=glance&n=5174 A link to post for "Code Red"(I need to review there still myself, it only has 10 reviews): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000004Z...v=glance&n=5174 A link to post for "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper"(only has 19 reviews, there's people than that on this board, damn, lol):http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000004UK/ref=pd_sim_m_2/103-4701885-3362213?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174
  21. Don't surprise me, Dre's just goes where the $$$$'s at, he don't worry about integrity anymore, he don't care if 50 don't respect him as long as his record he produces sells, that's why some people lost respect for him, I think Chuck D was saying on one of his terrordomes that he respects Dre as an artist but not as a person, anyway I'm looking forward to that album, she's a talented singer, actually that's a good move for Dre, Floetry's real talented and deserve some promotion...
  22. the funny thing is bow wow said that he reads the hip-hop messageboards in that allhiphop interview, he's probably gonna beg JD to write him some gangsta s*** and then he'll alienate his bubblegum fans while everyone else like us laughs at him!!
  23. Nobody likes Bow Wow, comparing Will to Bow Wow could hurt Will, we shouldn't compare Will to anybody like that, let the music speak for itself, there's nobody like Will, he's a classic artist that'll still get praise even when he stops dropping albums but as soon as Bow Wow stops dropping, he won't get praised, it's not like he does now either, only lil' kids listen to him, when the kids grow up they'll be ashamed to admit they used to rock to Bow Wow just like most of the kids who listened to Vanilla Ice when they were growing up, Bow Wow's disposable pop just like 50 Cent and everybody on the radio, Will's a hip-hop artist that stands the test of time, Bow Wow's career will be forgotten when FPOBA is still shown on TV and peeps still rock to JJFP... I think the people who bought the album'll spread the word themselves, look how it's about to go platinum, nodody here thought it was possible after "Party Starter" flopped but word of mouth has carried this album, maybe 10 years from now it'll be double platinum, it took 10 years for "Illmatic" to go from gold to platinum and "Lost and Found" is the "Illmatic" of the decade in hip-hop, you see the hip-hop media's starting opening up and give Will more love than they ever had before, real fans won't stop buying it, i don't think we have to go out of our way for them to get it either, trashing other people's boards might convince them not to buy it, just post on forums you're registered to already and mention the album once in a while, they'll buy it on their own, you can't force it on people, the site's great already the way it is too, people coming here get a good idea of what Will's really about when they look at the articles and stuff that they'll wanna buy the albums after reading it... btw, Has everyone wrote reviews for "Lost and Found" over at amazon.com? Even if you don't buy anything from there you could write under a "Kid's Review" like I did and put if you like this get "Code Red" and "Willenium" too, I actually need to do a review for some JJFP/Big Will albums still but I did reviews for most of them there, I really like Big Willie's review for "Lost and Found", I think that's a convincing review if you post it ther man, don't sleep on that... If there's another good place where a lot of people buy albums let me know with a link and I'll copy and paste my review over there....
  24. This is the best song I've heard some far from the tracks, incredible stuff, probably the most powerful hip-hop track since "Tell Me Why", there has to be a video for this, this album'll be huge if he has 3 promo singles plus the official single with J-Lo 2 months before the album drops, this might have a chance to do "Mr. Smith" numbers if Def Jam keeps up this kinda promotion!! :yeah:
