what if we released tell me why ourselves?
bigted replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Well didn't we go on many sites over the last year talking about this album? I bet everyone you're trying to reach already heard the song, but if we could introduce a few people to good music it's all good though, leak the whole album if you want to, people need to hear it, bottomline... -
Realistically how big could it be if it don't get on any white/black radio station?

I dunno, I thought it was posted on Will's site, but they just have the webmaster's email, any ideas Tim and AJ??!! :wiggle: -
http://nastack.com/ LIL BOW WOW IS FULL OF SH*T Check out some quotes from his feature over at AllHipHop.com: Yeah, lyrically I’ve definitely been growin’ man, I feel like it’s only right that I do so. And the reason being is because people want to hear the more mature me. I think that’s the only way that I will gain respect as a maturing MC that way, you know what I’m saying? (note: T.I. writes 70% of Lil Bow Wow's rhymes) *** I was brought in to Hip-Hop at a young age so MC'ing is just more than just the look, the swagger, how you talk, it is an art form. And it’s also how you carry yourself. And it’s also a talent. Like Hip-Hop is like it’s like our church - for us. This represents us and I think that you know a lot of people really don’t understand that. Lot of people just look at it like, you know tattoos, jewelry and those are just fads. It’s much deeper than that and, with me, like I watch a lot of Hip-Hop like Krush Groove movies, like Breakin’ movies, like I watch that and I study that from Rhyme and Reason to all kind of Hip-Hop movies because I’m a Hip-Hop guru. *** You know Will Smith would not even talk about things that I would talk about you know what I’m saying and I’ve got nothing against Will. *** I can see somebody comparing Nick Cannon with Will Smith on the music side, but not me. -Will Smith, has something you'll never have...a Grammy. A place in history as an actual musician. Came up with one of the best DJ's of all time. Check out Will's early s*** (i.e. You Saw My Blinker Bitch). That title alone is more gully than anything you've ever put out. January 23, 2006 | Permalink | Comments (13) | TrackBack (1)

what if we released tell me why ourselves?
bigted replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
:word: That's I'm saying, the best thing we could do for Will is email the radio stations for them to play "Tell Me Why", email Overbrook as well and tell them that we're still interested in having "Tell Me Why" coming out, we gotta let them know we're still interested in this as fans, Will might think we gave up on it but if he sees thousands of people email Overbrook he'll get hungry to do it, get as many people to do it as possible, all the real hip-hop fans could start this movement... -

bigted replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
We've been putting our energy in helping out Will for the last year, I think we've done more than Interscope in promoting "Lost and Found", let's be real "Tell Me Why" ain't gonna blow up unless Will performs it at a show on MTV or it gets spins on the radio!!! -
7K in sales is pretty good for indendent, $70,000 is a respectable profit, that'd be nice for me, lol... but I'm talking about those who're selling 700 copies, they must be having it rough like they would if they didn't have a deal, I could make more than $7,000 if I was working at Walmart, that's minimum wage money, maybe they do a lot of ghostwriting for the rich artists, lol, that must be how Skillz makes a living...
-
yeah but how much copies is brakes selling? of course he'll have to get another job doing it that way 'cause i don't think he could make that much of a profit that way, he's just trying to get his name out there... now in talking about these artists listed, these are professional recording artists with contracts, they're signed to record labels, so the record label has to get some profit too, I think the independent label only gets about $5-7 and the artist gets about $8-10 independently, but if it's a major label like Interscope or Def Jam, the label gets about $14-$14.50 an album and the artist gets about like $0.50-$1 an album sold, there is a signing bonus when you get a deal but most of that goes into recording the album so you don't get much profit from that, Little Brother got screwed just as they'd if not worse than they'd selling 1000 copies independently, $50,000 that gets divided between each member in the group is not that much money, damn some of these artists are broke... :hmm:
-
What's the email Julie? We could all email them, we should make a list of all the radio stations that we wanna email...
-
How much money could an independent artist make selling 700 copies of an album? Even if they make $10 for each album they sell, it's only like $7,000, that's like working at Walmart, they might have to get a job on the side!! :paperbag:
-
'cause the lyrics were too intelligent for the teenage audience they're going after!!! that's why they didn't play "party starter" either, the industry only pushes rappers like 50 Cent and Kanye West while lyricists who put more substance in their lyrics can't get airplay, not blaming 50 Cent and Kanye West but I'm blaming the industry, their should be a market for everybody...
-
Little Brother ain't underground though, they released their album through Atlantic Records, BET refused to play their video that's why they didn't do better but hey that's how bad Will could've been since the media resisted him a lot too, so before the next time you complain about Will being blackballed, think about how more artists are treated even worse...
-
Wow those numbers are pitiful, some good albums on that list too, Supastition's one of the illest mcs in hip-hop and he sold 730 copies?... btw, you got any idea how much Jazzy's "The Soul Mixtape" sold? How's Kel Spencer doing? MOP flopped, I thought they were on G Unit, wtf?! :mygod:

what if we released tell me why ourselves?
bigted replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
:word: To DefCem, I think Kel Spencer needs more help than Will does, Will shipped platinum but how much has Kel sold? He needs our help selling his mixtape more than anything, how much did Jazzy's "The Soul Mixtape" sell? Shouldn't we try to help them too? This is a JJFP site, not just a Will Smith site, we should put energy into helping them too as much as we do for Will!! Will's platinum already, he did quite well, he don't need that much help from us here now, we've done enough promotion over the last year already... -
Having thosands email Overbrook and radio stations should make some noise!! :yeah:
-
It wouldn't hurt to try, it's our only hope, it needs to get on the airwaves to make an impact, maybe we should have thousands email Overbrook and tell them to release it to radio...
-
I say when y'all post "Tell Me Why" on your myspace, leave a link for email to the hip-hop stations like Hot 97 and Power 105, if we could get a few thousand people to email them it might be able to get on the airwaves, let's fight the power!!! :pony: I think Tim should put links to some radio stations and Overbrook entertainment on the JJFP.com homepage that way everyone that visits the site could email them and demand for them to release "Tell Me Why" we could start a movement!!

what if we released tell me why ourselves?
bigted replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
how many people listen to the podcasts, a few thousand? that's basically the only amount of people that'll pay attention to our promotion anyway, we don't own a radio station or a tv outlet, it's gonna be a minimal impact, a lot of them probably have the album already too... the main thing is to get people to listen to will, even if they don't buy the albums, we just wanna expose them to some quality hip-hop... -
what if we released tell me why ourselves?
bigted replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
unless any of us have a radio station or a tv program, we won't be able to reach that many people, probably only few thousand at the most, it's like when independent artists post stuff online, they only reach a handful of people, there's so many sites, it's not like 1 million people are gonna come visit your myspace especially if you ain't a celebrity but you could get 1 million people listening to the radio, face it "lost and found" won't go anything past shipping platinum unless interscope does something or will does an interview on mtv talking in depth about "lost and found" again that'll get repeated on there over and over but i don't think hell froze over yet, the media controls the sales of the industry, the stuff that gets pushed the most sold the most on the most part, i definately think our word of mouth definately helped sell a few thousand albums over these months though...besides a lot of these people online bought the album already, i've seen nothing but love for "lost and found" on these music forums, but i dunno maybe it'll have them buy it again, maybe we should buy it again too :kekeke: i hardly see anybody give praise to eminem, bow wow, or 50 cent online, most of their fans never go online and that's the fanbase that needs "lost and found" in their life but it's impossible to reach them... i tried to figure out how eminem's "encore" sold 5 million when i see so many people on forums trashing it but then i see his videos on TV all the time, most of the people who buy the albums ain't really fans, they're just bandwagon people who just buy the albums that get advertised so they'll look cool but they don't wanna register to post on that artist's forum though, only the hardcore fans do and em's hardcore fans from his forum also said that will got em hard on "mr. nice guy" just like bow wow's hardcore fans said that will got bow wow hard in that comment he made... -

at least Eminem writes his rhymes and knows how to freestyle, he actually has skills to diss people and still have a fanbase but that lil' pup is complete garbage, "Encore"'s more lyrical than Bow Wow's catalog which tells you how talentless this pup is, Eminem's trash album got Grammy nominated but none of Bow Wow's albums ever did, lol, the only thing saving Bow Wow is Ciara, his album was tanking before the bubblegum duet with her came out but even she probably likes Will more than him so she'll even be breakin' up with him soon, he's one of the biggest jokes to ever happen to rap... Will wrote his 1st rhyme before Bow Wow was born and Bow Wow just wrote his 1st song last year, lol... -

Bow Wow speaks on the Will Smith situation
bigted replied to Frenetic's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
You don't remember that Will responded to Eminem years ago? He originally said in an interview that he wouldn't pay any attention to Em 'cause his career'll end in 5 years, he made a joke about him too I think while he was laughing Em off, he didn't really take that diss seriously 'cause Em disses everybody but it was the fans and the media who'd poke at Will from what Em said and Will needed to respond to them more than Em 5 years later they were still talking about Eminem so it was time for Will to make a song about it not to start beef with Em but to put the criticism of being a soft rapper to rest just 'cause he's sparred Em's career people shouldn't think he's soft, he also referred others like Wendy Williams and Larry Elder who called Will soft 'cause he wanted to send them and everybody a message, obviously Bow Wow didn't wanna hear it, if "Mr. Nice Guy" got heavy airplay on the radio Bow Wow wouldn't diss Will, somebody needs to buy this lil' punk a copy of "Lost and Found", if he heard it he wouldn't open his mouth 'cause it's better than anything he could dream of having his ghostwriters come up for him, lol... "Mr. Nice Guy" was more than anything for his image, no matter how much money or fame an mc has they have to protect their rep, this is hip-hop, you can't let somebody smash your pride, for Will to mention Em in his song shows that he respects his career 'cause if Em lost his fame in those 5 years, Will wouldn't consider responding... I don't see Will doing a song about Bow Wow either unless Bow Wow makes something significant, but I hope that it motivates Will to comeback recording more often so none of these kiddies coming up'll consider dissin' Will's mc skills... Basically that statement in that interview is similar to what he said about Eminem in an interview years ago, I don't think this'll go any further, Bow Wow's gonna fall off now so we won't see Will making songs about the lil' pup, doing bubblegum songs won't be able to have a long career, you could see too the overwhelming response favoring Will's statements but when Will laughed off Eminem the response was sorta divided, there was a lot of people who defended Eminem 'cause they respect his skills, basically Bow Wow only has lil' girls drooling over him but the average hip-hop head pays his skills no mind, there's a difference, Eminem is Rakim compared to Bow Wow...Will respects Eminem though 'cause he writes his rhymes and he dropped a couple classic albums no matter how much you hate, despite all of his gimmicks in recent years his freestyle skills keeps his career alive, but what has Bow Wow done to win Will's respect? Even 50 Cent writes his rhymes and dropped some classic mixtapes, Bow Wow don't write his rhymes and nothing he's done is memorable... -
