Aight I don't like to focus on the negativity but to get specific, I'm dissapointed that Will doesn't sign to a label that could release his singles faster and give him more creative control for what he releases, not just what he does, if he was able to get a few singles out at this point the album would be multi-platinum and we'd get another album out faster probably, leave Interscope and go to Def Jam Will! I'm not really that dissapointed about how many albums Will releases at this point, I think a lot of rappers that don't act haven't made as many albums that Will has, a lot have slowed down more than Will, he's released 3 albums since the last time Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick released one, at this point he should just reunite with Jazzy Jeff just tour, make his own website better than that crap that Interscope gave him that's famously known as "Lorettaville", lol, and holla at his fans, and make albums in between, no more rushed albums like "Born To Reign", that was dissapointing, I'd rather wait 3-4 years for another classic than have Will rush something out, quality's better than quanity at this point.

Nah i liked Ushers Album (or was that 2004?) That Usher album was 2004, actually I remember DMX' last album dropped around the time of Outkast's last album too, those were the only albums I anticipated getting then, that was a good album from him but that wasn't his best either, still a step above anything else then, most of the new commercial stuff I bought back then was r&b and it seems to be that way now too.

I thought that "Speakerboxx/Love Below" was aight but they've done better ones before that were less popular so I think that this album was overrated and didn't deserve to sell 10 million but 2003 was a bad year and that was the only good album on the charts that year.

I heard about Toni Braxton's album, I definately wanna get that, she's one of my favorite singers. Warren G's album is getting pushed back until October 11th according to amazon.com, they don't even mention Q-Tip's album though so we might not get it for a lil' while, and next week Public Enemy release an album on October 4th called "New Whirl Odor" that you could only buy at Best Buy until November 1st then it goes to other retails according to publicenemy.com.

I'm gonna post over on the VH1 message board and say that I want JJFP to be honored, we should all do the same, maybe the peeps in charge of VH1 might notice that a lot of peeps want JJFP there to be honored and they'll honor them next year, they won my respect over so I might post over on their board once in a while, I wonder if they have a voting thing to vote for "Party Starter" to make their top 20, I'll have to check the site: http://www.vh1.com/interact/boards/main.jh...ffset=0&index=0

At least last year when Nas performed his new single "Bridgin' The Gap" with his dad Olu Dara it was relevant to hip-hop honors 'cause it was a tribute song to the ol' school but Kanye's "Gold Digger" was totally irrelevant to the concept of the show, it wasn't paying homage to anybody, FP's "Party Starter" is relevant to the fun that they were having last night, he also mentions about bringin' back the ol' school, that was the theme of last night, so that would've been a nice way to warm it up before Kane came on!

Eric B. and Rakim should squash their beef and make another album together, I think Pete Rock and CL Smooth are working on a comeback album, they should be honored too, there's so many ol' school legends that should be honored like Heavy D and The Boyz, EPMD, MC Hammer, Digital Underground, Gangstarr, Nice and Smooth, and Too Short to name a few, they could do tribute shows for the golden era for at least the next decade! I must confess I need to get some Ice-T albums too, I heard a few of his songs but I never bought any of his albums, his albums need to be re-released again, this is a thing they should work on too, in between when they ain't honoring the legends they could work on re-releasing their albums so the public could easily be able to access those treasure albums.

Nelly and TI are there to attract commercial rap fans to watch the show, if it was just a bunch of ol' school mcs and that's it hardly anybody would wanna watch, I honestly would rather see Biggie alive and give homage to LL instead of Nelly 'cause he was a big LL fan too he remade "Goin' Back To Cali", I think he's overrated but he was above average compared to a lot of these sucker mcs out now, actually with all of them out now actually boosts up his legacy, there was a lot of dope mcs on the scene when he was living but now there's nobody, 50 Cent actually makes Nelly bearable to listen to as well, there's probably gonna be a tribute to Big Pun next year I bet since they had one for Pac last year and one for Biggie this year, hopefully they honor Left Eye one day too, I'd like to seeing the living legends get honored more though.

Nelly's performance was a lil' boring but at least I could've understood a few of the words he said there, when he performs his songs it sounds even more annoying, lol.

Seeing shows like that proves why ol' school mcs should be ranked higher than today's commercial rappers! The culture, the clothes, the language and, of course, the music have permeated the mass market. VH1, a music channel with a history, celebrates the pioneers of the genre with the second annual "Hip Hop Honors" tonight at 9. "What we try to do is create a platform for these artists, and that way we can show what the culture of hip hop has contributed to the popular culture," said executive producer Jac Benson. "I think now hip-hop culture is popular culture," said Benson. "It's gone beyond acceptance. It's been absorbed into the fabric of America." Taped last week at the Hammerstein Ballroom, the show is hosted by brothers Russell and Joseph Simmons (Reverend Run of Run DMC), two pillars of the genre. Pioneers Big Daddy Kane, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Ice T, LL Cool J and Salt-N-Pepa are among those honored. The show includes performances from many old-school artists as well as the new generation, which includes Kanye West, Nelly, Eve, Missy Elliott, Faith Evans, T.I., Common and The Roots. Salt-N-Pepa, who haven't performed together since the '90s, will reunite with En Vogue on their hit collaboration "Whatta Man." It's the first time they've performed the song together live. At rehearsals last week (the show was taped Thursday night), Sandy Denton (aka Pepa) admitted that she was a little nervous. "We've been rehearsing so hard and trying to get it so perfect," said Denton. "It really feels good, the chemistry. We couldn't have had a better collaboration than Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue." The all-girl trio, which includes DJ Spinderella, were rapping about female empowerment when Lil' Kim was still in knee socks. "Well, I don't want to toot my own horn," said Denton. "But, yeah, we made it possible. We were the first to break through, to break through the male barriers. And we went worldwide." The VH1 audience "grew up with these artists," said Benson, who also cited luminaries from the era like LL Cool J and Grand Master Flash. But VH1's hip-hop show is more than just an amplified trip down memory lane. Indeed, Snoop Dogg, in a Chrysler commercial schooling Lee Iacocca on the lingo of the street, underscores hip hop's prominence in the zeitgeist. The show mixes the old and new. Nelly performs with one of his idols and influences, LL Cool J. And Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five join with Fat Joe, DF Disco B and Dr EZ Mike on the "Frisco Disco," "Goodtimes," "Seven Minutes of Funk" and "Dance to the Beat." The singer sustained bruised ribs and some contusions, according to his attorney and business advisor, L. Londell McMillan. D'Angelo said he was released from Richmond's Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center on Friday, just days after the September 19 accident along Virginia's Route 711 (see "Singer D'Angelo Seriously Injured In Car Crash"). McMillan issued a statement yesterday afternoon assuring fans that D'Angelo, born Michael Eugene Archer, was doing well and "is anxious to finish the recording of his soul masterpiece that the world has patiently awaited." The singer's last album, Voodoo, was released in 2000. The news of D'Angelo's release from the hospital's Intensive Care Unit comes after comments made Monday morning by Sergeant Kevin Barrick, a Virginia State Police spokesperson, who explained that the musician was still being treated for injuries characterized as "critical" in a press release issued over the weekend. Calls to Virginia State Police for comment were not returned by press time. D'Angelo was rushed by Med-Flight helicopter to VCU Medical Center soon after last week's accident, a single-car crash that took place just before 8 p.m. on September 19. Barrick said D'Angelo's 2003 Hummer was headed east on Route 711 in Virginia's Powhatan County when it ran off the road and slammed into a fence before overturning. Barrick said D'Angelo, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. Another person inside the Hummer, Lynne Sellers, also sustained significant injuries; she was taken by ambulance to VCU Medical Center, where she was treated and released days later. Police investigating the wreck are still unsure who was operating the vehicle when it crashed; according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Hummer is registered to D'Angelo's brother, who lives in New York. D'Angelo told the AP that Sellers was at the wheel when the Hummer skidded off the highway. Beyond that, he said, "I don't really remember anything" about the crash. Two weeks ago, D'Angelo was handed a suspended prison sentence after being convicted of cocaine possession. In April, the singer was fined $250 and given a 90-day suspended jail term after pleading guilty in Virginia District Court to charges of marijuana possession and driving under the influence of alcohol (see "D'Angelo Pleads Guilty To Charges Of DUI, Drug Possession"); his driver's license was revoked for one year.

They got the "Jamie Foxx Show" on DVD and I think "In The House" had basically the same type of success so I think that they'll release it one day too!

I can't imagine them not honoring JJFP and Rakim next year unless they honor a bunch of earlier pioneers like Kurtis Blow, Roxanne Chante, Whoodini, Busy Bee, and UTFO but if they honor a bunch of gangsta rappers that came in the 90s and don't honor JJFP and Rakim I'll be mad! :woono: They got the right thing going right now balancing every style of hip-hop so they're gonna be honored I'm sure unless they start screwing up. I think "Do The Right Thing" would also be another classic movie that should be considered being honored if they don't honor "Juice", they should honor "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" too one day.

Nah, they were honoring Run-Dmc but they weren't honored themselves! It'd be awesome if Slick Rick, Biz Markie, and JJFP were all honored at the same time, they could perform "So Fresh"!

Yeah it was a phenominal show, like Heavy D says it was, "Nuttin' But Love", Uncle L really enjoyed himself, it reminded me of when KRS was rappin' and dancin' along to everybody last year, haters look foolish saying that LL has a big ego 'cause he does respect his peers. Basically like I was saying all along when you see Kanye perform on commercial shows with Luda, 50 Cent, Nelly, and TI, he looks like a rap god but if you see LL, Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane, Grandmaster Flash and Furious Five, and Salt-N-Pepa perform with En Vogue, he looks like he doesn't even belong there, FP shoulda been there performing "Party Starter" instead 'cause it was like a big party, well next year there's no doubt in my mind that JJFP will be honored, they should host one of the shows one day too, that'd be a lot of fun to see, btw En Vogue is reuniting now and are gonna work on an album so that's one thing to look forward to. Why wasn't DMC there with Russell Simmons and Rev. Run? I would've loved to see Rev. Run perform his single too but there's not enough time for everything. I read in the article on VH1 that Big Daddy Kane was entertaining the people with new freestyles during rehearsals so I guess he's probably working on a comeback album, fingers crossed for hip-hop's sake, he really had the best performance of all the great performances, he was dancin' around like he's still 20, I can't even do those moves, lol, LL killed it like usual too! If anybody wants to see the performances go on VH1.com!

Ice-T, Shyheim (the former Rugged Child), the Furious Five, two-thirds of Whodini, Biz Markie, Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock, DJ Whiz (who spun for Kid 'N Play), Kwame and King Sun were all dancing to the words and music of the Sugar Hill Gang, who were on the mic. They had all come to B.B. King's Blues Club and Grill for a rare NYC treat: Big Daddy Kane was performing a concert filled with nothing but classic hits and new freestyles. Hip-hop has been the predominant musical genre the last two days in the Big Apple. On Thursday night VH1 taped its second-annual Hip Hop Honors show at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Kane and Ice-T were honorees along with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, LL Cool J, the film "Boyz N the Hood," Salt-N-Pepa and the Notorious B.I.G. "One of the beautiful things about it is you gonna let the old-school cats perform and you've got a whole generation that has literally never seen Big Daddy Kane," Ice-T said Wednesday at the Hammerstein. As part of his tribute, Ice took the stage with Snoop Dogg for a medley of the Iceman's hits. "A whole generation has never seen LL Cool J onstage, and he's gonna scare the hell out of them. They've never seen the Furious Five, they've never seen Ice-T. They've seen other people, but they ain't never seen us. When they see the origin, they gonna feel it. It's gonna be a great thing." Ice promised that he and Snoop were going to be keeping it extra gangsta during their set — but nowhere near as hard as Ice used to do it back in the day. "We used to come out onstage with the pit bulls, pumping shotguns with the blanks," he recalled, citing shows with the Geto Boys and Scarface. "Gangsta rap was rock and roll. It was intentionally meant to cause chaos. "It's all pimpin' to me," he said of being a guest of honor at the show. "To be honored by VH1 [when I] used to be hated by America — bottom line, it's all about how you control your life. I came out of real crime. So when I get in trouble for making ['Cop Killer'], I'm like, 'I'mma handle this. I ain't kill nobody, y'all gonna have to get over this one.' But it took five or 10 years for that to blow over. Now I'm on TV, and America is like, oh yeah, Ice T is cool. But I'm still a problem. I knew how to clean my image up a little bit, but I'm the same cat." Common still looks at Big Daddy Kane with the same admiration he did in the late '80s. Com once had the chance to open up for Kane at a concert early in his career. Now Common actually gets to perform with Kane during the Hip Hop Honors ceremony. "Being able to do a tribute to Kane, who is one of my favorite artists, one of my inspirations, one of the reasons I rap — to be able to be a part of that is a life achievement for me," the Chicago native said during the practice sessions. Salt-N-Pepa and Spinderella were going through their set with En Vogue. "It's like part of a dream. To see Salt-N-Pepa doing rehearsal with En Vogue. ... They're giving a tribute to Grandmaster Flash, LL — as soon as I walked in the place, I felt hip-hop. This gonna be some dope hip-hop, and we saluting it." Kane's tribute also includes the Roots and T.I. "I'm happy to have everyone here," the always laid-back Kane said. "T.I. is an incredible person, a major figure in the game who's doing some beautiful things. Common and [black] Thought are very close friends of mine. I'm honored to have them be a part of this. I truly respect them as artists and lyricists. We're gonna have fun with it." BDK was especially looking forward to seeing Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five take the stage, as he'd never seen all of them perform together. Another first was Salt-N-Pepa performing with En Vogue. It's also the first time all four original members of En Vogue have performed together in seven years, and the first time Salt-N-Pepa have performed with one another in six. "The first couple of days were rough," laughed Salt shortly after rehearsal. She stood in between Pep and Spin. "A little crick in the neck. We had to stretch a little bit, but it started coming back to us. The hips started moving a bit more." "We were talking yesterday about how it felt like home being onstage together," Spin said. "That was one of our favorite parts of Salt-N-Pepa, being onstage." "It feels great to be honored," Salt said. "We kicked down a door or two." D'Angelo, born Michael Eugene Archer, was transported from a helicopter to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in nearby Richmond, where he's still being treated for his injuries, according to Sergeant Kevin Barrick, a Virginia State Police spokesperson. The single-car crash happened the evening of September 19, just before 8 p.m. Barrick said that D'Angelo's 2003 Hummer, headed east on Route 711 in Virginia's Powhatan County, ran off the road and slammed into a fence before overturning. D'Angelo, one of the founding fathers of the neo-soul movement of the 1990s and perhaps best known for his steamy track and video "Untitled (How Does It Feel)," was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Another person inside the Hummer, Lynne Sellers, also sustained significant injuries. She was taken by ambulance to VCU Medical Center, where she, too, remains under the supervision of medical personnel. Police would not provide additional information on the accident, as it's still under investigation. It's not clear whether D'Angelo or Sellers was driving the SUV at the time of the crash. D'Angelo's attorney, Ned Mikula, wouldn't provide specifics on the singer's condition or his injuries, but did say he has met with D'Angelo's family at the hospital. "They're praying and hoping for the best," Mikula said. "Knowing his strong constitution, I know he'll pull through. All I can say is his family's cautiously optimistic that he will survive and fully recover." The accident occurred one week after D'Angelo stood before a Chesterfield Circuit Court judge and pleaded no contest to one count of felony cocaine possession; the 31-year-old singer was given a three-year suspended sentence, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. D'Angelo was arrested back in January outside Richmond on drunk-driving and drug-possession charges (see "Singer D'Angelo Arrested On Charges Of Drunk Driving, Drug Possession") when, during a routine traffic stop, police discovered marijuana and cocaine inside his vehicle. In April, D'Angelo, who hasn't released an album in more than five years, pleaded guilty in Virginia District Court to charges of marijuana possession and driving under the influence of alcohol (see "D'Angelo Pleads Guilty To Charges Of DUI, Drug Possession") — charges stemming from that same arrest earlier this year.
