  1. Em must be Keith B Real! :lolsign: "Are you just frontin' Jazzy along for the cameras?", "Charlie Mack take care of him!" :pony: I knew it all along this ain't nothin' new, I think Chuck D's right when he said in one of his terrordomes about how Interscope give Eminem and 50 Cent ideas to sell albums, read between the lines there, he means that they tell them to start dissin' other celebrities and get into fights to sell them some records, the media'll eat it up. Well it's like Carin Haggins says there, "The goal is to make forever music.", JJFP inspire people like Carvin and Ivan to be positive influences through music and I think this'll last longer than the average scheme to sell records, even if Will sells less than Em right now, people'll look back and say that Will's a better rapper and they'll grow sick of Em gradually.
  2. Eminem said "F*** him and f*** you too", wow that's the most original diss ever, he's the Rakim of our generation! :hmm: Will laughed it off himself when he was interviewed on the radio about that in 2001, he said that Em's career would end soon anyway, well it ain't soon enough so I think Will should end it for him and stop bein' mr. nice guy. I think even 10 year olds could write a better diss than that, he could use me as his ghostwriter! :stickpoke: 50 Cent does the same thing, he talks all the lame crap about New York rappers in a Vibe issue a few months ago but isn't he from New York? He's frontin' like he never listened to Nas and Fat Joe 10 years ago when he was growing up and they were the top rappers of New York now he wants to act like he's better than them, it's the same thing, they don't respect the legends.
  3. He probably did it to cause controversey. It's like these cats coming out got no respect for the legends, like why'd Nelly diss KRS? why'd Cannibus diss LL? Tell me why! They just wanna benefit off of the controversy 'cause they suck. Em's whole career's a damn gimmick and more people're into the propoganda, Will's a class act that has proved that you can sell albums with talent not propoganda.
  4. 50 Cent had a lot of street cred when "Wanksta" came out, even legends like KRS were giving him props and sayin' that he was gonna bring hip-hop back to where it needs to be, he shouted 50 out on a song "Underground", "When you're money's spent and you're hanging on to your 50 Cent, get it, you're underground", now I'm sure KRS probably wants to end his career like Nelly, we thought that with Jam Master Jay discovering him he'd be the future of the game ' but it turned out that he doesn't remember anything Jam Master Jay mentored him since gets so high all the time and burned his brain cells, lol, hip-hop heads thought that his album would be like his underground mixtapes but when "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" dropped we were shocked and realised that he sold out, I bought the album myself thinkin' it'd be a hot album but I played it one or 2 times and buried it in my collection in disgust then gradually gave it away, lol, and he's been known as trash to me ever since! I think LL said that on one of his songs about how you leave the streets, there ain't no coming back, I think it was "Back Where I Belong" where Ja Rule was featured on it ironically, lol, 50 lost his cred and his career is about to end soon! :gettinjiggywitit:
  5. Maybe if Jam Master Jay was still alive 50'd turn around to diss Run-Dmc too, selfish bastard! :therain:
  6. Here's some of the article: "To this day we still try and figure out how we're respect as R&B songwriters and producers, when we were originally pure hip-hop heads," says Ivan "Orthodox" Barias, 31, who along with Carvin "Ransum" Haggins, 35, were aspiring mcs before meeting at Jazzy Jeff's A Touch Of Jazz Studios in 1995. "The only reason I started doing r&b is because I hated what it had become," says Philadelphia native Haggins. Born in the Dominican Republic, Barias started making beats, he says, out of necessity. "The guy I used to get tracks from started frontin'" so I said, I'm gonna try to figure this out." And figure it out, he did. Barias and songwriter Haggins formed Karma Productions; they infuse the timelessness of Philly soul into love songs for artists like Musiq, Faith Evans, Joe, and Jamie Foxx, as well as develop new artists with their Home Cookin' Studios and Home Cookin Productions: "The goal is to make forever music," Haggins says. And since karma always comes back to you, their music is destined to do the same. -Will Smith "Big Wllie Style" I: We kept Will's philosophy that if you can imagine it, you can do it. He made you feel like you could try anything in the studio. What's the worst that could happen? If an idea didn't work, you'd just throw it away. C: One day Jazzy Jeff was working on his mixtape and we had Eminem down there. This was before Eminem was Eminem. So, Em was writing this rap for Jeff's mixtape. When he looked up and saw Will walk in, he looked back down at his paper, but his pencil didn't move for a good five minutes. And then Will was like, "Oh you did the 'Bonnie and Clyde' record? Yo dude, you're really talented." And Em actually said, "You know, some of my storywriting concept comes from what you and Jeff did," which was the craziest thing." So deep down Eminem really does respect Will, we could show this to all the haters that love Eminem, I got some haters in mind already! :word:
  7. I wished Jam Master Jay discovered somebody who's positive and talented like AJ instead of 50 Cent!
  8. 50 Cent doesn't represent the best of the east coast so it's an embarassment to see him as the highest selling rapper, he makes me miss Biggie, I see when there's posts made about him having the highest selling album, a lot of these hip-hop heads think that he's garbage and they're shocked that he could come from being a dope underground rapper to being a sell-out, he ain't no different than Eminem, they had skills to get signed but now they're gimmicks! btw, we have a major problem here, we still can't vote for "Party Starter" on 106 & Park, we need to start a petition to get it on the voting list now! :pony: : http://www.bet.com/Site%20Management/Polls...E-0FA99C23DD6C} EDIT: Remember that Rev. Run's video's on the list, speaking of Run-Dmc, let's vote for it like crazy and get it in the top 10 to bring the real king of Queens to the top of the charts! :1-say-yes:
  9. But AJ, Jam Master Jay discovered him, so if you're saying that 50 Cent is talentless, that's like saying Jam Master Jay doesn't know talent, and Dr. Dre does produce him too and he's like the greatest producer, how many rappers got discovered by Jam Master Jay and were produced by Dr. Dre, a lot of people say that Vanilla Ice is the wackest but not everybody has sold 5 million albums, you gotta keep things in perspective here, if you ain't got nothin' to say "Don't Say Nothin", 50 Cent should learn from this too, there's no need for him to diss cats more talented and experienced than him but since he's on a major record label, he does have talent, Nas said it himself that it's a reward in itself to get a record deal, it took DMX 10 years to get signed to Def Jam. I'm not saying 50 Cent is a rap god but if he improved his content and actually rap about somethin' other than how much of a fake thug he is he wouldn't really sound that wack 'cause he does have some flow, I know more people that like him than they do like Nick Cannon, 50 Cent won battles on the street, how many battles did Nick Cannon win?
  10. Yes I do when I post what I'm listening to! :lolsign: I look over my posts and realise sometimes that I forgot to say something so I add it on that's all so I don't have to make 20 short posts! :gettinjiggywitit: Now I realised one more point I wanted to make, Will's voice is what sets him apart from 99% of the rap game, he's like Pac in that sense 'cause sometimes the simplist structure of a verse could be made to sound most powerful on songs like "Dear Mama" and "Tell Me Why", you could look at the lyrics on paper like a simple poem but when you hear the song they send chills through your back and blow you away, this is what's the problem of a lot of rappers today, they focus more on jumbling words together that might not make sense instead of working on the flow for the song so they might have a 50-line verse but they lack the emotion to make the songs powerful and I won't consider Kanye a legend unless he starts doing more songs on his own, me and Schnazz were discussing this yesterday, guest appearances on an album are annoying like a mixtape, you could have a few good ones but if you have like 10-20 they start to draw attention away from you on the most part, except albums like "The G.O.A.T.", "Willenium", and "Volume 2: Hard Knock Life", he needs to do an album like "Code Red", "Blueprint", and "Mama Said Knock You Out" where there's no guest appearances but he'd carry it enough himself to keep it entertaining, I don't know if I could stomach listening to an album with just him for 60 minutes though but he is improving and it could be possible, the guest appearances are actually the best parts of his album on the most part except for songs like "Jesus Walks" and "Family Buisiness". Mcs shouldn't be judged on age or record sales but that's what a lot of hip-hop fans focus on, Will's great at those though by outselling all the peers his age, but content needs to be focus on too, and he does shine bright in that department as well, he's popular, intelligent, has an incredible voice and has been an incredible lyricist for 20 years and is the one that expanded the platform for rappers now to be worldwide, not just East Coast or West Coast!
  11. 50 Cent does have some talent though, that's why he has a record deal and we don't, his underground stuff ranks among the best of hip-hop in the late '90s, he just doesn't show it anymore that's all. :stickpoke:
  12. Aceyalone could be an underground legend, calling him the pioneer of Cali rap is wrong 'cause Ice-T, Too Short, and Dr. Dre came out first, sure Dr. Dre is a better producer than a rapper like Kanye but he really does have a nice flow that kills Kanye, especially on all the songs on "The Chronic", "Chronic 2001" was lost focus on the most part with him just like "Born To Reign" lyrically but he did shine on "Still D.R.E.", his verses on "Forgot About DRE", "The Watcher", and "The Next Episode" just like Will shined on "Born To Reign", "Block Party", "Act Like You Know", and "As The Beat Goes", all the guest appearances on "Chronic 2001" was just as lame as hearing Tra-Knox on every song, it killed it from being a classic, "Born To Reign" should've sold 6 million like that album and the other overrated stuff out now even though it wasn't his best, the worst stuff sells on the most part, IMO, I wouldn't call "Big Willie Style" his best either even though it's a lil' better than "Born To Reign" and close to "Lost and Found" flowwise, not content wise except for "Just The Two Of Us" and "Chasin' Forever" which were serious songs, and maybe a lil' better than "Homebase" to maybe say it's his 5th or 6th best album, no matter how you slice it, his catalog ranks among the all-time greats, every rapper has made an average album like "Born To Reign", if you don't think so you're really a Loretta of that rapper, nobody's perfect but Will comes one of the closest, 20 years deep in his career, he's a legend no doubt. "Code Red" should really be his highest selling album that sold 13 million 'cause everybody should hear the skills he displayed on there, "He's The DJ..." sold 2 million in '88 then again which is like selling 15 million now, it was rare to do then, well then again "Reasonable Doubt" is Jay-Z' lowest selling album too so skills doesn't sell. Biggie could rip 70% of the rap game now I'll admit even though I ain't a huge fan of his, 50 Cent and Game make him look like a rap god, he's a tad bit overrated, Heavy D deserves more credit 'cause he originated the overweight lover concept and could outflow Biggie!
  13. Biggie's flow is perfect? His flow is one of the most annoying ever, he had nice rhyme structure but he's one of the most annoying people to listen to on the most part except for "Juicy" and a couple other songs. Will needs to go back with Jeff, he brings out the best of Will's flow like on "Code Red", "Homebase", "He's The DJ...", and 'Willenium", "Lost and Found" is great though.
  14. Will's the highest sellin' east coast rapper of all-time, this shouldn't be much of a shock, over 30 million sold, those kids better recognise, to be the 6th highest selling rapper past your prime is amazing, rap careers are usually short but Will truely is the Michael Jordan of the rap game, still a hip-hop all-star after 20 years! 50 Cent is like Penny Hardaway, he'll be irrevelant to the public in a couple years.
  15. Will's the second highest east coast rapper? So I guess it didn't flop as bad as we thought it did, it is the 6th highest selling album this year!
  16. I think Will easily has one of the greatest flows ever, to compare him to Kanye is a joke to me no matter how much you like Kanye 'cause Will's one of the greatest, compare him to Big Daddy Kane, LL, or Rakim, Kanye ain't there yet even though he's good now! :stickpoke: I don't like it when people compare Nick Cannon to Will either, you can't compare nobody out now to Will! His flow is average at best and most of his movies are average, except for "Drumline", I didn't see his new movie but I don't hear anybody talkin' about it, so he ain't no legendary rapper/actor, people have to talk about you, I heard a few people talk about "Drumline", nobody ever mentioned a lick about his album and if someone did they said it sucked, AJ and a couple other people are the only people I heard of that think that he has mic skills, 50 Cent has some mic skills but his content makes you forget that, just like Eminem, the only reason why so many of us like Kanye is 'cause of his subject matter, the same with Nick Cannon too if you like him. Beats are cool to have but if you ain't sayin' nothin' or have an awful flow, I might as well buy an instrumental tape. btw, Aceyalone can't be the G.O.A.T. seriously Tim, he's a great mc but hardly anybody ever heard of him, has everyone here heard of him? I didn't hear of him until Tim mentioned him to me. You need to have fans or at least be a household name to be the G.O.A.T., I'm giving the crown to LL Cool J if it ain't Will Smith, their names are familiar to hip-hop like Jerry Rice to football, Michael Jordan to basketball, 'cause there no mc besides Will that could contest him it's more than an album title that's who he is 20 years of incredible flows, Jay-Z could've but he's retired now, who can be that consistant and have so many people hear of you? He's "All World", there's not a place you could go where you haven't heard of LL, same with Will, "Mr. Clean but the fact remains/Got girls that don't speak english screaming my name". Rakim has slowed down, I'm sorry, his last album was kinda weak and that's 6 years ago, "The Definition" is way better than "The Master", "Mama Said Knock You Out" is on the same level "Paid In Full", and "The G.O.A.T." is better than "The 18th Letter". Could Rakim rip one of today's mcs the way LL took care of Cannibus? Will could easily finish off Eminem if he decided not to be such a nice guy from the way he flowed on "Lost and Found", the punchlines are incredible too, Em can't take on Will, maybe 5 years ago but that's when "Willenium" was out so I don't know about that! :stickpoke: Now KRS could 'cause he's still out there but hardly anyone listens to him now and he's not as versatile as LL even though he could outflow 100% of the rap game, there's not one rapper that could step in the ring with KRS and beat him,not Jay-Z, not Nas, not even LL or FP, KRS stands alone when it comes to flow but versatility kills him from being well known, people don't like conscious rap that much. Maybe 10 years ago Rakim would compete with KRS and everyone else but he might be a lil' rusty now, Melle Mel could be right what he said about him 'cause if it takes you 6 years to do an album coming off a weak album, something's wrong, it's not like he's doing movies, lol. Slick Rick could put out a hot album tomorrow on the other hand 'cause his last one was hot 6 years ago, Heavy D could too, his last album 6 years ago was hot, he got a crazy flow too, Big Pun had a nice flow, DMX got a nice flow but he retired and is coming back supposedly, Fat Joe got a nice flow but his commercial albums don't display that, Queen Latifah could outflow 100% female rappers and 90% male rappers, she outflowed Treach on "Rough...", she has the same problem as Ice Cube, doing too many movies and no albums in over 5 years. If I walk down the street and ask somebody who Aceyalone is, they won't know who he is, but they'll know who Will Smith is, they'll know who Jay-Z is, they'll know who Eminem is, who 2Pac is, who Biggie is, who Jay-Z is, who Kanye West is, they might even know who KRS is before Aceyalone.
  17. yeah .. ridiculously bad.. if you think kanyes flow is good.. you need to hear some real rap :lolsign: :lolsign: ← Come on now Kanye ain't that bad, sure he ain't as a great as Will but to say that he has no flow is being a hater, well people hate on Will so I guess the hate has to go around! :pony: :lolsign:
  18. :lolsign: My bad, yeah that sucks Scott Stevens retired too, he's a great defensive player that the Devils'll miss!
  19. Xzibit, Juevenille, and Ja Rule "25 To Life"
  20. Well they ain't even lettin' us vote for "Party Starter" for 106 & Park and it's been a good 5 days since it was premiered on there now, I'm boycott 106 & Park till they let us vote for it! :hmm: :lolsign:
  21. "Updated: Sep. 12, 2005, 2:26 PM ET Messier retires after 25 seasons ESPN.com news services NEW YORK -- Mark Messier retired Monday, ending a 25-year career in which he won six Stanley Cup championships and ranked second only to Wayne Gretzky on the NHL all-time scoring list. Messier The Rangers announced that the team will retire his jersey on Jan. 12 in a game against the Edmonton Oilers. Messier said "a host of things" contributed to his decision. He became a star in Edmonton in the 1980s and a headliner on Broadway in the '90s, captaining the New York Rangers to the '94 championship that ended the team's 54-year title drought. "It's been a long career and I've achieved a lot," the 44-year-old said on a conference call. "There was nothing really left of me to achieve." Even though the official announcement came Monday, Messier all but said goodbye on March 31, 2004, following the Rangers' final home game before the lockout that wiped out all of last season. "It's a bittersweet day for the National Hockey League," said Wayne Gretzky, Messier's former teammate with the Oilers and Rangers. "Mark has done so much for the game of hockey and taught so many of our young players. He was an exceptional leader who was unselfish, hard-working and dedicated. He truly loved the game. "He was the best player I ever played with and it was a pleasure to play with him each and every day." The Rangers held physicals for their players on Monday at the opening of training camp, but the longtime star never expressed intentions to return for another season. "It was a tough decision," Messier said. "I'm healthy and feel good and I feel like I can play." Messier's honors Award No. Hart Trophy 2* Conn Smythe Trophy 1 Lester Pearson Award 2 First-team All-Star 4 Stanley Cup Titles 6 *1990, 1992 Messier said he never negotiated with the Rangers, and the decision to return to New York was "completely up to me." But Rangers general manager Glen Sather, the architect of the Oilers' dynasty that was spearheaded by Messier and Gretzky, always left room for the rock-jawed captain to come back. Messier teamed with Gretzky to win four championships in Edmonton during the 1980s and then won another in 1990 after Gretzky was traded to Los Angeles. He trails only Gretzky in playoff goals and assists, but he topped the Great One by adding one postseason guarantee that took him to heightened status in Manhattan. With the Rangers trailing New Jersey 3-2 in the 1994 Eastern Conference finals, Messier promised New York would force a seventh game. He made good on his word by posting his fourth and final playoff hat trick in a 4-2 victory. New York won Game 7 in double overtime to advance to the finals, which also ended with a seventh game victory. His second stint with the Rangers, which covered the final four seasons of his career, wasn't nearly as successful. New York failed to make the playoffs in any of the years. Messier played in the postseason during his first 13 NHL years, before New York missed in 1993. After leaving the Rangers following their most recent playoff appearance in 1997, Messier was out of the playoffs for the next seven years -- including three with Vancouver. He leaves with 1,887 NHL regular-season points, 970 fewer than Gretzky and 37 more than Gordie Howe, who sits in third place. "I never thought about any individual records," Messier said. "Coming back to break any records, especially that record wasn't all that appealing to me." Messier always did things on his terms, and his retirement is no different. After a year off, he wasn't spurred to play again even though he is only six goals away from 700 -- a mark reached by only six players -- and 11 games short of tying Howe's record of 1,767. Edmonton general manager Kevin Lowe, Messier's longtime teammate on the great Oilers teams, tried to convince him to return to his hometown for a farewell tour. But Messier really only considered playing in New York, where he has a young family. Messier was showered with applause from teammates, family, friends, fans and even the Buffalo Sabres when he skated off the ice for what turned out to be his final game 18 months ago, a 4-3 loss at Madison Square Garden. Messier and Gretzky have always been linked, whether on the ice or in the record book. Messier scored 109 playoff goals, 13 fewer than Gretzky, and set up 186 others -- 74 fewer than Gretzky, now the Phoenix Coyotes coach. But the second partnership lasted just one year as Messier left the Rangers for Vancouver as a free agent following a surprising run with Gretzky to the Eastern Conference finals. When Sather took over as Rangers GM in 2000 he brought Messier back. Messier scored his final goal in his final game, No. 698 with the Rangers. The inability to rekindle success in New York and the departure of close friend Brian Leetch, who was traded to Toronto as part of the Rangers' salary dump of 2004, surely pushed Messier to his final goodbye to Broadway."
  22. "I'm talking about a Friend to the end If I lose or I win If my lou getting thin (Jazzy Jeff: whats up) You still my friend (JJ: hell yeah) Down forever (uh ha) Tougher than leather (uh ha) Like Run and D you and me together forever (that's right) Lets say we balling (uh ha) Somebody calling (uh ha) Me out my name (whats up) We gonna be brawling (hell yeah) Lets say we out (uh ha) Somethin go down (uh ha) Five o around (uh oh) You still around (true dat) Ever since I was younger (uh ha) Kind a always had a hunger (uh ha) For a fairy tale friend (that's right) Kind a like a brother (uh ha) Everytime I go out (uh ha) Everytime I turn around (uh ha) Ain't gotta wonder about (uh uh) What the brother doing now (uh ha) You been my friend from the beginning to end We flowing to where we going cause Lord know we done been through the storm before the calm Life could drop a bomb Cause Jazzy we got a bond Like we was in Vietnam Truss it (word up)"-JJFP "Potnas"
  23. Oh yeah he's had one hell of a career, he's sold over 30 million over 9 albums and has had about 10 movies hit #1 in the box office, "Big Willie Style" is one of the selling albums in music history and "Independence Day" is one of the highest grossed films of all-time, "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" is an all-time top sitcom right up with "Bill Cosby" and "Friends", accomplishing all this and he ain't even 40 yet, most peeps could work their life in the entertainment buisiness and have that kinda success, there's nobody like him, JJFP did a lot of touring when they came in the game but we were mostly too young to remember unfortunately, I think he's gonna wanna definately do another one one day, he obviously loves hip-hop more than movies 'cause he's had albums flop and he still comes back to do more, I think if some of his movies flopped he'd consider giving up acting faster.
  24. There's a few million anticipating the next Will movie and only a few thousand anticipating Will to go on tour and do another album, if Will's music fans were more loyal than his movie fans I think he'd quit acting but it's not that way, he only needs to do one serious movie and win an Oscar to get it over with so he could retire from acting on top then concentrate on retiring from rap on top winning another Grammy many years from now! :lolsign:
