  1. You're right about that, hearing them on all the tracks brought down the quality, who knows maybe that's why their album got shelved! :lolsign: Will could've gotten more quality singers like Usher, R.Kelly, and Boyz II Men on the album if he wanted to instead of Tra-Knox on all the tracks if he wanted to make a soul album and that would've made it a classic. The best thing Kel Spencer might ever do is that song "Uhhh" with Will if he doesn't ever get his career going himself. Personally I'd rather be on Will's worst album than not on any album, I don't think I'll be lucky enough to say that though. Honestly I never thought anybody liked "Code Red" as much as I do until I posted here either, I know a few ol' school hip-hop fans that say they like "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" as his best album and they talk about "Homebase" being classic but they don't mention "Code Red". I played "Born To Reign" for some of my friends in high school during my senior year and they liked it too.
  2. Well there's only about 100 of us posting here anyway, I'm sure the other 200,000+ might like it more, we're just being too critical, and btw I think "Born To Reign" got better reviews than "Lost and Found" has gotten so far by the critics, Will's the Michael Jordan of the rap game so that means he can't make a bad album, he just scored a solid 20 points instead of his usual 50 that's all, what do the millions of teens who listen to 50 Cent and Eminem know about good music anyway?
  3. And they can tell their grandchildren that as a result of their numerous appearances on the album, the album was mediocre in quality and a disappointment in sales... Lets hope that they have more exciting things to tell their grandchildren... ← I don't think all of us would be that lucky to say that we recorded with Will, it's not that bad of an album that you say it is, the way you talk you make it sound like it was the worst album ever! :lolsign: I enjoyed that album the time it came out, in fact I didn't start not liking it until I started posting on this board, I never would call it my favorite one but I'd never call it wack, it's a good album, not a great album, I could name at least 10 commercial rap albums from 2002 that were worse than "Born To Reign", we hate on it more than fans that don't like Will, I haven't really heard anybody say bad things about it, I only skip 2 songs on that album when I play it.
  4. Well if Tra-Knox never do anything else big in their careers they could still always tell their grandkids when they're old that they did an album with the greatest rapper ever! :interesting:
  5. Yeah that's a hot song, I saw the video yesterday, it's hot! Anyway I'm listening to JJFP "Pump Me Up"
  6. You might actually be right about that Kev, whenever the video comes out people'll show interest in "Lost and Found", no matter how low it falls on the charts, I noticed this week that Kanye West's "College Dropout" actually sold around 6,000 copies and that album came out a year and a half ago, but probably the hype of his new single "Golddigger" and the talk about his new album lead to that, on that note when the "Party Starter" video becomes a huge hit and Will's out performing it and the tour comes sales could go up, people'll be talkin' about Will's album more often again, I guess we all gotta stay patient.
  7. LL allready started a Label back in the 90`s`as far as i know..That stood in his book "Phenomenom"! ← He has had "Rock The Bells" for quite a few years too named after his classic song just like Will's "Overbrook" which is named after Will's high school, but I think it just a publishing distributor of his albums through Def Jam so that he'll have the hands on in promoting his albums.
  8. I'm starting to doubt if the "Party Starter" is gonna come out so I'm gonna say that it'll sell 700,000 US and 2 million worldwide when it falls of the charts this fall and'll be certified platinum in the US in 2008 when his next album comes out , lol. :lolsign:
  9. The Bulls signed Malik Allen, it's not the move I was hoping for but at least they finally did something to help the frontcourt so they won't have to play the aging Antonio Davis so much, as long as they re-sign Chandler and Curry they'll be fine: "Bulls agree to terms with Allen August 24, 2005 BY BRIAN HANLEY Staff Reporter Advertisement The Bulls achieved one of their offseason goals Tuesday by coming to a contract agreement with veteran forward Malik Allen. The 6-10, 255-pound Allen has averaged seven points and 3.9 rebounds in four NBA seasons. He played 22 games for the Charlotte Bobcats in 2004-05 after spending his first three-plus seasons with the Miami Heat. "One of the things we wanted to do is add some depth to our front line,'' Bulls general manager John Paxson said. "We still want to add one more piece there.'' Though there had been talk that the Bulls also were interested in signing free agent Tom Gugliotta, it appears the injury-plagued 35-year-old -- who made $2.7 million last season with the Atlanta Hawks -- is not headed to Chicago. Still, the Bulls would like to add a player with Gugliotta's size (6-10, 240) and shooting ability as more frontcourt insurance. Insuring center Eddy Curry has proved problematic since the restricted free agent's heart problems surfaced last season. The league's carrier has declined coverage, which has delayed the Bulls and Curry from coming to terms on a new contract. ''There's still some uncertainty with Eddy's situation, but we know he's going to be back with us in some form or fashion,'' Paxson said. ''We have been working closely with his agent, Leon Rose, to see if there is a way to get something done.'' It's possible Curry will play for the $5.14 million qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Paxson said he is ''working through some things'' with Jeffrey Schwartz, the agent for forward Tyson Chandler. Also a restricted free agent, Chandler is seeking a six-year contract worth upward of $60 million. As for Allen, 27, his signing is expected to take some pressure off power forward Antonio Davis. ''A.D. and the role he fills is still so valuable to us,'' Paxson said. ''But at 36, we don't want to put too much mileage on him if it isn't necessary.'' Paxson said he was looking to add a player who ''could knock down perimeter shots.'' Allen, who scored a career-high 23 points against the Bulls on Jan. 18, 2003, is known for his accurate post-up jumper."
  10. Why? :lolsign: Yeah I'm diggin' that Ziggy Marley single too, I love listening to regaee/dancehall too but nobody mentions it here so I never post about it. EDIT: I meant Damien Marley, he's the Marley with the song "Welcome To JamRock"
  11. I think LL was planning on starting a gospel-rap label but "The Definition" didn't sell that much so he's now more into acting, who could blame him? Hopefully LL's next album does better so he could consider starting it again. The artists gotta watch out for themselves too even though they might wanna be generous to their friends 'cause MC Hammer went bankrupt signing all of his friends to the payroll back in the days.
  12. Let's update again! : 141 SMITH*WILL LOST & FOUND 7,237 -11 8,176 611,674
  13. Maybe Will's fans are poor and don't go on a computer! :lolsign: I thought a lot on Lorettaville voted for the video too, it doesn't make sense it didn't make it, you figure if if 500,000+ voted, it'd be able to reach the top 10!
  14. Jazzy Jeff releases a lot of dope stuff on Touch Of Jazz but a lot of it doesn't get the recognition it'd if Will promoted it on Overbrook 'cause Jazzy ain't popular. How could Overbrook lose it's distribution deal, Will's the richest man in hip-hop and has more money than some major record labels have I'm sure, even Talib Kweli's starting a record label, it doesn't cost that much to start one, Will could really make an impact if he worked on Overbrook the way he does with his movies, that'd clean the game up! I think Will would be better off distributing his albums himself instead of Interscope doing it since they're giving him such crap promotion, money's a big part of the hip-hop game and the rappers who pay the most money to promote their albums the better they do, so why not Will getting quality rappers on his label promoted to help clean up the pollution on the air? I wouldn't mind seeing Slick Rick do at least Memphis Bleek numbers selling around 300,000 copies.
  15. Chuck D addressed this issue in his new terrordome where he says that 25-40 year olds allow their kids to buy this gangsta crap out now and are acting immature themselves, you can't only blame the kids for the way hip-hop is right now, the parents don't care about the crap their kids listen to and in fact they'll go to watch "8 Mile" themselves and bring their kids with them, I wouldn't be surprised if they let their kids watch pornos with them too since there's so many teen pregnancies. :damnlorettas: Peep some of what Chuck D said there, it's so true, I don't give a damn if I talk about him so much 'cause he's right on: "Yes this sounds like the same old story from Chuck D but listen to this. The harping is not directed at the youth generation, but instead the absence of the 25-40 generation who fell into the cracks of post-crack. It’s one thing to idolize Biggie and Tupac for their rebelliousness and musicianship. But, when asked about the substance of this basis, the lack of answer triggers many of them back into a less responsible age recollection of college days, weed, and unaccountability. Cool to think that at 12-25, at that time I guess, amidst the haze when the confusion of those brothers murders took place, all of a sudden we heard the cold remarks of 'good kids' to the code of the streets and the adoption of ghettoism. Now this ghettoism is a way of cultural connects to the rest of the earth. It’s as if volunteer slavery is in effect. The hanging pant, n-----r callin, fractured talking, dollar worshipping at all cost cat is looking more and more like the shuffling, ragged overalls, slow talking, massa abiding, negro archetype of the films from the 30’s and 40’s. Whitefolk behind closed doors are reclaiming or maintaining class status merely by staying in their homes and watching such towers of belief spew radiation over the past 5 years in BET form. Many caucasian acceptance to the nigger way of life as a cultural way of being, is in kind a spark leading to the superiority segregated way of the slaved beginning of this country. No different. The towers of beliefs influence has the word 'n-----r' and way of life a growing phenomenon in Africa as well as abroad So when it comes down to our youth, our shortys as we say, who’s looking out? The question is where does their adult life start? We cannot blame them for anything. It takes a village to raise a child, but here with the controlled towers of belief it now takes that same village to kill a child. Who is looking out for the 25-40 year old peeps who bust their tails in organizations across the land to rebuild a scattered race of different thinking people who STILL are judged by the color of their skin? These people deserve props for fighting this enslaved existence, regardless of the lack of snooped American pimped acceptance, MTV, or Clear Channeled spins. These are the many who get my r-e-s-p-e-c-t."
  16. Why can't Will sign his friends Slick Rick, Public Enemy, or Big Daddy Kane then? He needs to build the label with legends to knock G Unit Records out of the game! Please Will stop doing movies and focus on this, you got the money to save hip-hop, other legends are broke and need your help! :lolsign: I'm just playin', he could still do movies, but he should get a staff together to help build the label while he's shootin' films or get Jazzy to do it for him, and Slick Rick ain't broke, he just doesn't have 300 million like he does to start his own label. I think "Overbrook" should merge with "Touch Of Jazz" too, there's no need to be seperate, JJFP forever! It's pitiful that he's had this label for almost a decade and hasn't even released an album yet except his own! :damnlorettas:
  17. the "big willie style" fanbase was very disposable.. teeny bopper girls young kids they aint gonna be loyal or stick around. I think the majority of people who bought.. well atleast enjoyed lost and found would be hip hop heads// so maybe that 500, 000 means a lot more going into his next album.. :word: ← Hopefully those teeny boppers into 50 Cent now will jump off the bandwagon soon! :ShockRifle: What ever happened to the "He's The DJ, I"m The Rapper" and "Homebase" fanbase though? They musta got sucked in by gangsta rap 'cause they abandoned JJFP on "Code Red", which is on the same level if not better than those albums, or at least better than "Homebase", lol, "He's The DJ..." is a debate, you can't say "Code Red" wasn't promoted 'cause it had 5 singles, people knew that the album was out, they just didn't buy it, I could see people not buying "And In This Corner..." 'cause it wasn't the classic JJFP material, the "Born To Reign" of JJFP albums but "Code Red" is like "Lost and Found", hmm I see a pattern, 2 high quality albums selling-1 quality album slept on-1 album that deserved to be slept on, the first album was slept on 'cause hip-hop wasn't popular in '87, I never heard it to judge if it's classic or not, "Girls..." and "The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff" is better than any song on "And In This Corner..." though. There seems to be the same 25-40 year olds watching his movies, so why can't the same 25-40 year olds buying his albums too? When I go to see "Pursuit Of Happiness", I'm gonna ask the people there if they bought "Lost and Found"! :daveuidiot:
  18. :iagree: Will's the Michael Jordan of the rap game no doubt, but "Born To Reign" made it seem like he was past his prime like MJ and it was time to maybe join him in retirement even though his worst effort is better than anything the average rappers have done so far, "Lost and Found" reassures that he still has more championship years left in him! I find it kinda ironic though that "Born To Reign" got better reviews from the media than "Lost and Found" did and "Code Red" got trashed reviews, well they give Eminem and 50 Cent high reviews so I guess I shouldn't believe the hype.
  19. Eminem and Nelly albums had no good songs on them at all at that time, Will at his worst is better than 90% of the rap game, all of his his albums should go platinum, I thought Nas' "Nastradomous" was better than a lot of garbage that was selling at that time including Dr. Dre's "2001" which was half filler itself, hey if he's gonna diss "Willenium" and say its the worst album he's ever heard why show mercy on him? I thought "Momma Knows" is one of the better songs on there, I think "Born To Reign" and "Block Party" are my favorites but there's a handful of other good tracks on there, including "I Can't Stop", the only tracks that were awful were "Willow Is A Player" and "Maybe", the album's not that bad really compared to other rappers it'd be 9/10 but for his standards it's 5/10, just like I'd say "Lost and Found" is 10/10 compared to other rappers but for his previous work it'd be 8/10 'cause I think it's arguable that other of his albums are on the same level or better, only "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" gets 10s compared to everyone else and himself 'cause that is the landmark album that defines his career forever, unless he does another album with only Jazzy and no guest appearances but that's highly doubtful. Will experimented too much there, Common did the same thing back then but now they went back to the basics of being a great mc, hopefully Queen Latifah stops doing jazz too and rips the mic again, if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. :ShockRifle:
  20. I was right on my 1st guess, I figured it'd go gold but on my second guess I figured it'd sell 1.5 million but I even said that was wisful thinking that the hype before the album would make it go gold in the first week like Game's album but that didn't happen, Will promoted this album like hell when it came out there's no excuse why it shouldn't be at least platinum already, everyone knew that the album's out so I blame the fans for not buying the album like they should be, shame on them, like I said before Will's movie fanbase is loyal but his music fanbase ain't. :thatspdiddybad:
  21. Thanks, I'm gonna definately pick it up next month!
  22. I like Sean Paul's new single, I can't wait 'till his album drops, I think Shaggy got a new single out too, finally there's some dope regaee to look forward to.
  23. I actually tried looking over a few of these, a lot of them want you to pay a fee by credit card before you even start, so I just decided not to take that risk, it's easier to get a job, well I'm still trying to find one myself, my area seems to be hard to find work, everywhere I tried filling applications this summer they told me they'd call back if interested and nobody called but I rather keep trying than getting ripped off.
  24. "Born To Reign" would be a great album for rappers like 50 Cent and Nelly but this is FP, so it's just average, there's some gems on it but you can't listen to it all the way through like you can most of the other albums, the "Born To Reign" intro and "Block Party" kept it from being mediocre, it was just like "And In This Corner..." after "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" when it didn't live up to how great "Willenium" was, it'll be interesting to see if Will could keep the momentum up on the next album after "Lost and Found", hopefully it could be like "Big Willie Style" after "Code Red", it's nice to play in the summer, especially when you're chillin' with the honeyz.
