  1. "Wave 'Em Off" had dope verses but the beat and singing were annoying, "Scary Story" has dope lyrics too but it just seems too boring compared to the other tracks, and I think "If U Can't Dance" is definately superior compared to "Switch", which is fun too but doesn't display much of Will's skill at all, I wouldn't mind if there was a video to that 'cause the Pussycat Dolls are sexy too lol, but let's compare "If U Can't Dance" to "Switch, how could you call these lyrics wack?: "She thought my name was Billy, I told her it was Willie She said she watch my TV show & I was very silly Told her I was from Philly she looked at me said, ‘Really?’ & judging from her t-shirt, I could tell that she was chilly So I gave her my sweater, she said her name was Etta She said she come from Cuba and she just had bought a Jetta She said she was glad I met her, let’s go somewhere together She said she’d ride in my car cause she knew that it was better The conversation cookin’, attention getting’ tookin’ My Spidey senses tinglin’, I felt somebody lookin’ Now who this brotha lookin’, & now he runnin’, bookin’ I’m mad I’m like a fisherman, I almost had my hook in I figured I should get up & quickly clear my head up, Cause Etta got a man & I’m feelin’ kinda set-up Now Dude was really fed up & yo, he wouldn’t let up Homey if I hit you, you might never ever get up Now he was not a dancer, plus he wasn’t handsome Comin’ like Mel Gibson, like I had his girl for ransom Yo, Pedro wanna go out side, yo amigo, tranquillo… slide" Look how simple this is now: "Uh uh uh I gotta question, I need to ask somebody Why is it that when y'all see me at the party Y'all be looking like 'Ooo he a movie star He ain't supposed to be out on the floor with everybody' But oh wait, whoa y'all forgetting When I was, amateur spitting before the scripts were written First one in, last one out the club Bursting in, passing out in the club Back at it, this cat is the wit and the charm Taking you higher like a syringe hittin ya arm Bringing the fire, making you Benz ring the alarm Let me see you clap, spin baby come on Switch!"
  2. "If You Can't Dance" is a classic JJFP type track to me, it's a fun track and Will rips the flow, if you hate that you must hate ol' school hip-hop, that'd made a better single than "Switch", this shoulda been a double album since we had to wait so long for it, hopefully one day all the unreleased tracks'll be released, especially the ones with Jazzy.
  3. What's wrong with "If You Can't Dance"? He's paying homage to "Roxanne Roxanne" with the fast ol' school flow, that's dope! I think "Scary Story", "Wave 'Em Off" and "Switch" are weaker than "If You Can't Dance".
  4. Well they should've put "The Rain" on there then, that was an influential track, on the most part it's a great list but when you have a big list like that there's always gonna be debate on what you shoulda left out or put in.
  5. They should've put "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" since it was more popular but I guess that would be Hype Williams bias since he directed the video. ← Gettin' Jiggy Wit It wasn't a JJFP song tho, so maybe that's why... ← Yeah they didn't put any Will Smith tracks on there, figures, "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" and "Men In Black" were as big of hits as "Mo Money Mo Problems" and "Been Around The World" though at that time and they mentioned them, well at least they mentioned JJFP, "Ring My Bell" and "I Think I Could Beat Mike Tyson" were bigger hits than "Here We Go Again" too if you were gonna mention another JJFP track.
  6. We had a topic like this on here a couple months ago: http://jazzyjefffreshprince.com/forum/inde...opic=3781&st=40

  8. Well if JJFP did another album together with no major features it probably wouldn't sell much but I think it'd be the best album to listen to, I wanna hear more of Jazzy's scratching than I do catchy hooks, that's what matters anyway, most albums that sell much now are kinda wack too, I don't think people consider "Encore" classic, "The Chronic" was at least a high quality album, '93 was one of the last years of most of dope hip-hop being on the mainstream, now most great albums get slept on.
  9. "Code Red" is no doubt a classic album, I was just sayin' when the media usually talk about JJFP's career they won't say that "Code Red"'s their best album, they'd most likely mention "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" and "Homebase" 'cause they were the albums that they were most known for and featured their timeless hits "Summertime", "Brand New Funk", and "Parents Just Don't Understand", for that reason "Code Red" is an underrated classic just like "Willenium" 'cause they weren't the highest sellin' albums at the time and they didn't get any awards, a lot of classic albums get overlooked by many great artists if they ain't the highest sellin' artist and that's ignorant, they should talk about content, not sales, a lot underground albums get overlooked too, "Code Red" is right up there with "The Chronic" and any of the high sellin' albums that time, it's surprisin' that it only sold 200,000 with 5 singles, that's what makes it even more amazing that "Lost and Found" sold 600,000 with only "Switch", it's hard to compare albums 'cause Will's had so many classics but "He's The DJ..." is in a league of its own since it shows all of JJFP's original style, they gotta do another album together, just them, no featured rappers or producers in order to top that one.
  10. On a related note, here's somebody on amazon showin' love to JJFP's "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" and "Homebase" on his all-time album list, this guy got good taste on the mostpart I'd say! :1-say-yes: : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/listm...8735170-5881508
  11. Well back in the days gangsta rap actually had a message to it but now it's just ignorance and there's no variety anymore, I think that's what that guy's referring to, everybody's rapping about cars, hoes, and guns now on the most part except for a few, back then it was cool whether you were making a party rap album, a conscious rap album, or a gangsta rap album but now if you make a party rap album or a conscious rap album you're called soft 'cause everybody's supposed to be a hard gangsta, to me gangsta rap is wack now 'cause they ain't really putting no messages in it anymore.
  12. I'd say '96 was the 1st year I started listening to hip-hop, I was 11-years old at the time, I used to listen to only r&b before that, the 1st ever album I got was LL Cool J's "All World" on cassette and my favorite songs that year were Nas' "If I Ruled The World" with Lauryn Hill and Fugees "Ready Or Not", I starting watching "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" back in '95 and didn't know Will was a rapper until "Just Crusin'" came out in '97 and I got the "Men In Black" soundtrack. :lolsign:
  13. Well that's 'cause it's mixtapes, you could jack beats on mixtapes without paying for them 'cause they don't have credits, just the tracklisting like ol' school albums do, but if you're releasing an album u gotta pay the record company for permission to use that beat and put it in the credits, it's been like that since all the older artists started complaining about rappers stealing their beats without permission in the late '80s/early '90s, it's stupid but it's good in a way for those who originally made those beats to get credit.
  14. Happy B-Day Jim! :jazzy: :1-say-yes:
  15. They might've pushed "Rebirth Of A Nation" back because of sample clearance, that's what some peeps over on Public Enemy's board were saying, remember it took a while for the "Spiderman Theme" to be cleared too for "Here He Comes"? Publishing laws are a bitch, that's why we can't play our songs that have copyrighted beats in our podcasts. :lolsign:
  16. A lot of awesome songs on this list! :kool:
  17. They probably only released it again 'cause it sold a lot when it came out, including 1.7 million in the 1st week, but selling 600,000 in 4 months won't be enough for them to re-release "Lost and Found" with bonus features.
  18. :lolsign: :lolsign: :lolsign: That was the funniest thread ever!!!! And wow, I've never seen BigTed so mad. ← I don't appreciate being called a fag just 'cause I like Will, I won't call you a fag and I'd respect your tastes if you could respect my tastes by not calling me a fag 'cause of who I listen to, like Will says if you ain't got nothin' nice to say, don't say nothin'.
  19. Hey I posted my "Lost and Found" review there! :kool: http://blog.jazzyjefffreshprince.com/?p=7
  20. "Code Red" couldn't possibly be the greatest hip-hop album of all time even if "From Da South" was released as the 1st single instead of "Boom! Shake The Room", I don't get how Will could say "Boom! Shake The Room" was his worse song, I mean "Switch" is even worse, that track was the worst on the album which tells you how strong this album is, but it's better than a few other songs on "Lost and Found" too, and a lot of the singles Will has released in recent years, I still think "He's The DJ..." is the greatest for Will 'cause that's what people will remember him by, "Code Red" only sold 200,000 copies, it didn't impact that much, "The Chronic" was dominating then.
  21. "Code Red" wasn't really that popular so I don't think many pop rap fans would really roll with it too much, it's more appealing to the hip-hop fanbase, "He's The DJ..." reaches credability with everybody, pop fans and hip-hop fans, whether you were listening to New Kids On The Block or Public Enemy, you were feelin' "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper", that album reached all fans.
  22. I think the Knicks'll give the Nets some comp in the Atlantic division 'cause they got Larry Brown at head coach so I bet more players'll wanna sign there now this offseason.
