  1. Well if you compare "Big Willie Style" to everything else at that time it was the best album out at that time hands down except for maybe Wyclef's "Carnival" and Slick Rick's "The Great Art Of Storytellin'" which was another fun album in the late 90s, I was a young teen a that time so I liked all that fun stuff, "Life After Death" is the most overrated album of all time, it was trash that didn't deserve to sell as much as "Big Willie Style", I don't get how people could call Biggie a GOAT, Will's rhymes are lightyears ahead of Biggie, Will beat commercial rappers at their own game with that album, just like when Nas released "It Was Written" with a more commercial style for the masses, you could say if they went with more serious material at the time they might've not sold much and their careers would've ended 'cause the public was mourning Pac and Biggie and they didn't wanna hear much seriousness for a while, "Lost and Found" is easily a more mature version and the best out now, time'll tell if it becomes a timeless classic, all albums depend on taste with Will 'cause they're all different styles that're great, sometimes I don't wanna hear about the problems of the rap game all the time and hear somethin' more fun then other times I'm sick of the fun stuff and want food for thought, but I can't really say any of his solo albums are better than "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" and "Code Red", I don't think that many rappers period are topping those albums 'cause they're perfect up and down with all tracks above average and classic.
  2. Come on man you just made a thread about which Will solo album is the best one, it's hard to favor one over the other for me, I don't get how you can say that Will showed no skills on "Big Willie Style", "Y'all Know", "It's All Good" "Yes Yes Y'all", and "Don't Say Nothin'" are among the wittiest of his career, even when he's rapping about how much paper he has, he does it with wit, you can't say that about 50 Cent though, come on even back in the day when he was rappin' about girls and parents he showed as much skill as Chuck D and KRS did at the time with their political rhymes, "Chasin' Forever" and "Just The Two Of Us" are among the deepest songs he's ever made, the one thing I could put down about it though is it's production, it'd sound better if he got somebody other than LES and Trackmasters on his tracks, Nas has the same problem, he doesn't always go to big name producers for beats but his lyrics are always on track, great mcs need better production, I mean now if Snoop could get Pharrell to produce songs for him, why can't Will? I bet most of the people who buy 50's albums just buy it for beats, lol. "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" and "Miami" is easily more lyrical than any of the commercial songs that P.Diddy, Snoop, Mase, and 50 Cent have ever done and that's supposed to be one of his worst lyrical tracks, that means he's a rap god when you could compare his worst stuff to most rappers best stuff. I think "Lost and Found" shows his maturity and his skills have evolved too for the changing times, I also think that Jazzy shoulda been more involved with the production on here as well, "Wave 'Em Off" and "Could U Love Me" were weak productions. Regardless of weaker production, they're still both classic albums 'cause skills are more valuable than beats to me, "Born To Reign" was probably his best album produced among the solo but the lyrics weren't up to his usual pheonominal focus for some reason, I mean if you're riding down the road and don't wanna hear the lyrics and just want ur bass to pump then u'd throw on 50, Mase, or Snoop, but if you wanna chill and listen to lyrics you throw on FP or Nas. You could say that great mcs only get better with age, I don't think we've seen the best from Will yet, he should get Pete Rock, DJ Premiere, Teddy Riley, and Jazzy to produce his entire next album and we'll hear even more aggressive rhymes! :1-say-yes:
  3. I'd say that these 3 albums are better than mostly any hip-hop albums released in the last 10 years, except "Illmatic", "Stillmatic", "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot", "Reasonable Doubt", "G.O.A.T.", "I Got Next", "The 18th Letter", "The Score", "All Eyez On Me", "Me Against The World", "Mr. Smith", or "Stakes Is High", "Big Willie Style"'s weakest tracks are "Men In Black" and "Miami" which says how great the album is, people put it down for oversampling, but listen to a Dr. Dre or a P. Diddy album and you'd find most of their albums are samples too, so why is it ok for them to sample and not FP? Speaking of Dr. Dre, if people consider "2001" a hip-hop classic they should consider "Willenium" a classic too 'cause half of "2001" was filler and weak tracks, don't get me wrong he had great tracks like "Bang Bang", "The Message", "F*** You", and "Still D.R.E." on there but it ain't touching the original "Chronic", all the beats are dope though but even "Aftermath" was better, Dre shoulda sold those beats to great lyricists like KRS and Nas, I'd love to hear them spit to them instead of Dre, "Willenium" had 4 filler and weak tracks(tracks 2-5) but everything else on there is classic or above average, even Jay-Z' "Blueprint" had weak tracks like "H to Izzo", "Ola Hovito", and "Jigga That N***", his "Black Album" had filler tracks and most of it was average, "99 Problems", "December 4th", "Lucifer", and "Moment Of Clarity" are the only above average tracks to me, and half of "Marshall Mathers LP" was filler, the only standout tracks were "The Way I Am", which he used the hook from Rakim, and "Stan" which was an attempt to storytell like FP and Slick Rick, only more violent though, Kanye's "College Dropout" had a couple of good tracks like "Jesus Walks" and "All Fall Down" but half of it is filler, it's easily said that FP's recent material could outweigh mostly any mc in the last 10 years, "Lost and Found" reassures that this time, it has a couple average tracks, but everything else is classic or above average, nobody could challenge him now except maybe Nas, KRS-ONE, De La Soul, and LL Cool J that're still doing it on a high level or close to it some might say, even the rap gods Rakim and Slick Rick could easily drop classics now if they want to, there's not much out now.
  4. That's a tough one 'cause they're all hip-hop classic albums to me, my opinions on them change all the time, right now I'd say "Willenium", but last month I'd say "Lost and Found", and next month I'd probably say "Big Willie Style", lol, it's a tossup, I think they all deserve to be ranked in the top 50 hip-hop albums of all time along with "Code Red" and "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" which would be in the top 20 and I'd probably squeeze "Homebase" somewhere in the top 100, Will's catalog between the JJFP and Big Will albums is flawless right up there with KRS', Rakim's, Pac's, PE's, Nas', and LL's, if haters took time to actually listen to them they'd say that too! :1-say-yes:
  5. Lost is breaking all the promises You were supposed to keep for your friends Found is staying true to represent Adding on more trust and commitment
  6. When I bang shorties I make sure I use protection Them wack mcs bore me, they have no aggression 'Cause they've fallin' off like Eminem to me 'cause they're "Losin' It" Everything they spit on the microphone is useless These rappers forget about the art of being an mc All I hear from them is 'bout how many cars they're owning They keep talkin' that foul, they'll eventually go broke and homeless If you ain't got nothin' to rhyme 'bout, get off the mic homie There's more 'bout life than just whores and rolling weed When I drop an album a lot of fakes will be folding quickly The first thing I'm gonna do is take your Rolle And sell it so the unfortunate could be able to eat Like DMX once said, "stop being greedy, keep it real potna, give to the needy"!
  7. I swear that everytime I put on "Potnas", I could picture a video for this, especially in the third verse, JJFP could be performing at a stadium and Will throws the mic in the crowd and everyone goes, "Ah, huh!", in fact I threw that track on earlier today and just lost it like it was the first time I heard it still, the words are so true, anybody that I knew in school who dissed Will and were Eminem fans didn't feel that way when I played this track for them, I mean that's lyrical art at its best, haters can't deny it and it just blows me away, if that track was released instead of "Freakin' It", they could've shot it in Philly still though and everyone in the streets would be callin' "Willenium" a hip-hop classic!
  8. The Jazz got Ostertag back again, he's been washed up for a few years now, they got the worst end of the deal, Bonzi Wells'll really help the Kings though, I agree we should have a sports thread here since we talk about it so much.
  9. Well the one thing that has kept Will and LL relevant longer than most rappers that came out when they did is their successful movie careers, there's always a larger fanbase out there for them 'cause of that, even if Queen Latifah released an album now she'd probably double the sales of her last album 'cause she's more successful in her movie career now too and if Will never did have success in his acting his sales would probably be as low as De La Soul's, we might not like him do so many movies but they've helped kept his career afloat still.
  10. KRS-ONE "Return Of Da Boom Bap"(The Whole Album, I Can't Get Enough Of It!)
  11. That was a fast poll, the moderators should've posted about it at Will's website, I think this is just a primary poll to see if it'll be nominated like an election, hopefully Will made the nomination, I personally doubt that he'll win 'cause "Drop It Like It's Hot" was in heavy rotation and they hardly played "Switch", like DMX said in his recent interview if the radio plays s*** enough people call it great.
  12. "Switch" is still #16 on the Billboard charts too, so we might have "Switch" and "Party Starter" in the top 40 in a couple of weeks! :1-say-yes:
  13. Aaron Hall is one of the best soul singers in the last 15 years, I'm looking forward to this album since he's gonna have more creative freedom on it!
  14. Mcs come up with broken bones When they be spitting hopeless flows But like the Fresh Prince I go where other rap boats don't go Crossing borders like Mexico I'm putting foes life supporters on hold When they're trying to get me to mess up I stand to shine so I continually step up Like Busta Rhymes, watch me "Break Ya Neck", punk
  15. http://www.blackenterprise.com/exclusivese....asp?id=821&p=1 "Aaron Hall Starts Fresh With New Label Music veteran to release new solo album; urges up-and-coming artists to learn the do's and don'ts of the music biz By Tiffani M. Cunningham Platinum recording artist Aaron Hall, remembered by his fans as the lead singer of the R&B trio Guy, is making a comeback-and he's doing it on his own terms. Inspired by what he describes as a bad experience with MCA Records, Hall decided to start anew with his own record label, along with entrepreneur and former basketball player Dwayne Corbitt. After discussing a partnership over the course of eight months, the team decided they were a perfect match-one being a well-known R&B crooner, the other a businessman. "I said I'd finance it, and he'll sing," Corbitt recalls. Corbitt is investing over $1 million in the label, dubbed Artists Only International Records, along with his management and marketing expertise. Hall is focusing on acquiring talent and artist development. Through AOI, Hall looks to prevent the negative experience he endured as a solo artist which led to the breaking of ties with his former label. "When you are with a [major record label] you do what they want you to do, you [release an album] when they want you to. He urges newcomers to research the amount of money they will earn prior to striking any deals, as well a how much their label is spending on their project. Feeling he was shafted in his deal with MCA, Hall is confident that partnering with Corbitt will provide him with an opportunity to have more control over the way in which his upcoming album, Adults Only, expected to hit stores in August, is marketed. His previous solo albums The Truth and Inside of You sold 966,000 and 192,000 respectively. But that's only half the battle. Distribution is what makes an album successful, says Billboard magazine's R&B Editor Gail Mitchell. "The main thing is getting it on the market, both radio and satellite radio air-time is very important to reaching listeners." And while starting independent labels may be becoming a trend within the industry, Hall says "if you don't have the finances these days it is pretty difficult. Hopefully we'll be able to pull it off."
  16. What up y'all, Will's up for a viewer's choice Awards on the MTV Awards, it's "Switch" vs. "Drop It Like It's Hot", let's all vote for Will to knock Snoop out here! :pony: http://www.mtv.com/onair/vma/2005/index.jh...005/index.jhtml
  17. I respect DMX 'cause he has heart to speak whatever's on his mind, he deserves more due in hip-hop, he's right about the situation in hip-hop right now, the rappers that get mad airplay and high ratings in magazines are called rap gods now but they really have no skills at all, the rappers that're the most skilled are slept on, I hope his new album does well whenever it comes out, it was supposed to come out the other day but it got pushed back again!
  18. I just felt it was time to change my avatar, I guess everybody felt the same way too! :lolsign:
  19. Once again I think it's Interscope droppin' the ball, not Will, it's the A&R's job to release the single to the radio stations, if the album stops sellin' everyone here will say Interscope's sucks just as much as Columbia.
  20. KRS-ONE feat. Redman and Angie Martinez "Heartbreak"
  21. Bombs are never good but the world does need to get their senses together! :shakehead:
