  1. Hey I was sayin' "99 Problems" was the only song that he attempted to be creative from the recent singles of his, but that ain't as aggressive as "F*** The Police", and other than that he's doing the same s*** as every other pop rapper with club anthems like "Change Clothes", "Just Wanna Love Ya", "Big Pimpin'", "Izzo", "Dirt Off Your Shoulder", and "La-La-La" that sound similiar to the club anthems that Will has released in recent years that keep his recent albums from being classic, so I feel the same should be with Jay-Z, he shouldn't criticize Will for not making reality based music when he doesn't always do that himself, I prefer Will's club bangers over his too 'cause he brings more energy than Jigga does, I wouldn't waste my money on his recent s***, I bought his 1st few albums which I rarely listen to now except "Reasonable Doubt" but since 2000 I haven't really been feeling him, I downloaded a lot of his stuff and borrowed "The Blueprint" from the library and it's nothin' impressive. That term classic gets throws around too easily, there's no way "The Black Album" could be a classic with a garbage song like "Change Clothes" and there's no way "Blueprint" could be a classic with a garbage song like "Izzo", to be a classic every song has to be great, he has some good songs on his albums and some forgettable songs, every rapper could make good songs, but he doesn't hold weight compared to what JJFP, PE, and KRS-ONE have done, legends make great songs. I haven't seen Jigga release a single as personal as Will's "Just The Two Of Us" and "1000 Kisses" yet, so I don't think he should criticize Will for not making reality music, but it's dope that he acknowledges Will as a hip-hop pioneer and I'd prefer him over most pop rappers today but in no way would I say that he's better than even Nas 'cause Nas releases powerful songs like "One Mic" and "Just A Moment", "99 Problems" is garbage compared to them.
  2. Well Jay-Z has fans stick with him 'cause he does the same thing over and over again, he doesn't try to be that creative with his music compared to Will, basically every one of Will's albums are different and some don't like that, they actually stick with those who don't take risks with their music,"Willenium" didn't sell as much as "Big Willie Style" 'cause it was a lil' more relaxing than "Big Willie Style" was, which people consider more of party album, if Will kept on making albums like "Big Willie Style" then he'd still sell 12 million but wouldn't get much respect in hip-hop for doing the same thing over and over, Jay-Z basically tried remaking "Reasonable Doubt" everytime he comes out so doesn't get much respect by a lot of hip-hop heads for sounding repetitive just like every pop rapper, except for when he did "Black Album" where he tried to add a rock sound to it, but the same ol' rhymes to me, Jigga does more money talk on his recent albums than Will ever did, he only did that on "Big Willie Style", he doesn't have nothin' on Run-DMC and PE when it comes to rippin' a rock track! Public Enemy, KRS-ONE, and Run-Dmc among other legends also had sales slip 'cause they experimented with their music too, they don't try to remake their classic albums from the '80s either, those who try to offer something new don't get sales.
  3. Well remember when Martin Lawrence made a movie out of his experiences at rehab? That'd be dope if Dave Chapelle did something like that.
  4. Hey Naughty By Nature was on 106 & Park the other day and Treach said he's working on a solo album and Naughty By Nature is gonna do some work with Kay Gee again in the near future! :kool: btw, I'm listening to Wyclef Jean "80 Bars"
  5. Naughty By Nature "Hip-Hop Horray" Now everybody post future listenings in What Are You Listening To? V :peace:
  6. My favorites are: Indepedence Day Bad Boys II Ali Bad Boys I Robot Men In Black I ain't gonna front, I haven't seen "Hitch" yet, but I'm gonna get the DVD when it comes out.
  7. The song's a hit, how could sampling Stevie Wonder and having Kool Moe Dee on the track along with Dru Hill be wack? However as far as the movie goes, I haven't watched that in years so I'd say it's a miss, it sucks compared to his other movies.
  8. Hey I'm not underestimating 2Pac's greatness at all when I say that but I feel that we should appreciate the legends while they are living, 2Pac didn't get the fame that he deserved while he was living, that shows you how foul this society is, if he was still living I don't think he'd either was all that I was saying, KRS-ONE and Will Smith don't get enough props that they should get in my opinion! :mad8:
  9. I'd say Duhon screwed up big time in Game 6, the Bulls need a point guard with more experience and to get another veteran center would help too, it's cool to have some young talent, but they also need to add some more experience players to win in the playoffs or else they'll end up being like the T'Wolves and lose in the 1st round for 5 straight years.
  10. Why didn't Dr. Dre dump him from Aftermath then? I thought that you have to get high to do a song with Dr. Dre, that was the reason why Rakim's album never came out in the 1st place, so obviously 50 Cent is just frontin', of course he gets high, stop defending him so much! :poke:
  11. Fat Joe's a dope mc, y'all should check some of his music out, Blastmaster KRS-ONE helped Fat Joe get hip-hop cred by touring together in the mid-90s, I'm looking forward to his new album comin' out, it's dope to see FP and Fat Joe chillin' there, they should collaborate some day, that'd be a huge hit! :kool: So anyway did FP perform anything besides "Summertime" and "Switch" at that show?
  12. I haven't really seen Nick Cannon release anything different than what any commercial rapper is doing until now that's why I'm haven't been really into him as a fan and not too many hip-hop heads are, I downloaded a few of the tracks from his last album but they didn't impress me much, since he gives props to ol' school hip-hop artists like FP and Slick Rick I can't really diss him too hard 'cause there's other commercial rappers out there comin' out that give no props to ol' school hip-hop artists whatsoever, but since Nick Cannon released this song I have to say that he's coming around as an artist, I still think that there's a whole bunch of underground mcs and hip-hop legends that deserve more shine though for putting in the work that they do too but that's just my preference. Anyway props to Nick Cannon for trying to be a hip-hop artist not a pop rapper! :thumb:
  13. Yeah I heard about this single, I think this is the deepest song he's ever done, I hope it gets airplay, this is better than most songs out now, I guess he's not just trying to bite off of FP's comedy after all, my opinion changed about him, I might think about checkin' out his new album! :kool: This is sorta off-topic though, this should be a topic over "Caught In The Middle"! :peace:
  14. Damn, I was about to download it too, oh well, I'm gonna lock up this topic since it ain't available anymore! :peace:
  15. That's a good message right there and a great 1st rhyme, I wish I could say my 1st rhyme was that good, you should keep it up, tell people what's on your mind! :peace:
  16. Great news I look forward to that! :afro:
  17. Will's one of the richest men in the world, he's making 20 Million A Film, damn if I had that kind of money I'd brag too, he does own those cars he talks about, he's on the cover of magazines, and he's got a hot wife, if that was my life, I'd wanna talk about that too, but I'm poor so I talk about how I'm just getting by and tryin' to make it in the world in my songs, he's just speaking about his life, he talks about the problems that he has too, the fame doesn't always make you happy, but he doesn't brag as much as Cassidy, Bow Wow, and these up and coming rappers do, come on now, how could they be that rich as they say on their 1st albums when they're making only 50 cents for each album they sell? :cwm: 50 Cent brags about sleeping with Vivica Fox, come on now, why'd she want him? he's a loner! :hilarious:
  18. That Heat-Wizards series has been the most boring series ever, the Heat could start their entire bench and still beat the Wizards, they suck, they're playing worse than the Grizzlies did when they lost to the Suns, I don't get how the Bulls couldn't beat them! :confused3:
  19. emptv loves Eminem, they put him in the top 5 mcs of all time a couple years ago I think, that's a joke, and they don't even mention Will in the top 20 and put LL at #17, when Eminem was a Vanilla Ice wannabe at his trailerpark, JJFP and LL were on top of the rap game and they still are! :poke:
  20. I love you man.... I couldn`t say it better myself :dancingcool: Well LL's my 2nd favorite mc, I stick up for him anytime, good to see another LL fan on board! :thumb: btw, what does everybody else think the top 10 hip-hop albums are?
  21. Bow Wow feat. Jagged Edge "My Baby", I haven't heard many pop rappers make a song as deep as this one in recent years
  22. Don't u mean A Tribe Called Quest feat. Leaders of The New School? :poke: U got me in the mood 2 pop in Phife's solo album. Actually, there's a couple different versions of "Scenario". It's probably the same version I have. (from the Monster Rap cd) A Tribe Called Quest Instrumentals cd (I made it last night.) :thumb: :dj: Hey I never heard that version either! btw, I'm listening to Nas feat. Amerie "One Rule"
  23. Hey "Rock The House" is a rare album to find, I don't think all of here even heard it, including me, if there were other tracks on the same level as "Girls Ain't Nothin' But Trouble" and "The Magnificent" on there then that'd be a classic too! :afro: It's too hard for me to say one album 'cause I listen to all the albums I have from them,it's a coin toss between "Big Willie Style", "Code Red", "He's The DJ...", and now "Lost And Found" for me, I always keep them close by to play.
