  1. KRS-ONE is the greatest mc of all time though in my book, he even said in one of his songs: "You respect 2Pac But 2Pac respected me" Listen to "Criminal Minded" that came out almost 20 years ago and you could relate to every song, KRS' is not popular anymore but he's been doing a lot of great things, he's the most intelligent rapper alive now that 2Pac is gone, more people need to listen to him 'cause what he says on his songs are powerful now still like they were on "Criminal Minded", and I think if Will Smith died already he would be ranked higher too, Will Smith gets hated on 'cause he's not as serious as 2Pac and KRS but hip-hop is about being yourself and he's not afraid to smile in public, KRS and 2Pac are great to make you think, Will makes you feel good, 2Pac wasn't considered the top rapper until he died, 2Pac wouldn't be on top on everyone's list and that's a fact if he was still living! Well if it was about impact then Melle Mel should be #1 'cause everybody was influenced from "The Message" and yes longevity should count, how many rappers have put out albums like "Lost and Found" nearly 20 years after they started? Will has been more consistant than a lot of ol' school mcs that're still making albums, some should really give it up, they make one great album then drop nothin' but mediocre albums after mediocre albums. I could pretty much relate to "Parents Just Don't Understand" and "Girls Ain't Nothin' But Trouble" now too, those are the anthems of my life! :cwm:
  2. That song has a nice message to it! :afro:
  3. Big L deserved to be on the list somewhere but I don't think top 20 or even top 50, he made less impact than even Biggie with a shorter career, Freaky Ty made more impact than Big L, I'd put him on the list too, how could Too Short not be on the list, he's easily somewhere in the top 20! What about Two Live Crew? They should be mentioned as well, even though they ain't my style!
  4. R. Kelly is one of the most creative artists in r&b history, I can't wait to see what kind of video he comes up with, I look forward to his album! :kool:
  5. As much as I love 2Pac, he's too overrated, if he were living he wouldn't be so high on everyone's list, what he put out when he was living was flawless but it's not a guarantee that he'd stay consistant like LL Cool J and Will Smith are, you could actually make an argument for them being number #1 more than 2Pac if you look at their consistantly of their catalogs, btw Queen Latifah should be top 10 in my opinion, she put New Jersey hip-hop on the map! :afro: Left Eye gave TLC a hip-hop edge, so TLC is hip-hop, BBD deserves a mention too, P.Diddy would only be mentioned for his producing skills but he bit a lot of those off of Teddy Riley so I'd mention him somewhere too, and I'd actually rank Jay-Z much lower than #17 if I were making this list, no higher than #50 to me 'cause you think of all the pioneers that deserve props, Jay-Z gets enough props already, the pioneers deserve some love, I'd probably put Biggie somewhere in the late 40's probably, he had skills but didn't make the type of impact 2Pac did in his short time to be considered a legend, and I'd put Eminem, Lil' Kim, P.Diddy, and Nelly at the bottom of the list, probably take them off the top 100. I think the person that made this list was just thrown these names at random and just picked the numbers out of a hat. :cwm:
  6. People in school would tell me that I'm talented and I'm gonna be famous but I see that as an oxymoron, you can't usually be both when most famous ain't talented or the opposite. :poke:
  7. "Fight The Power"'s a great song, but I think "Don't Believe The Hype" was PE at it's finest, that's the anthem of my life right there! :chuks:
  8. Come on AJ, I was just trying to make a point there, I could've mentioned Madonna and Prince too even though they ain't hip-hop, but they ain't even selling as much as they did 15-20 years ago, you can't sell 10 million each album forever, record sales don't measure greatness of artists either, if that was the case 50 Cent and Britney Spears are the most talented, only one of James Brown's 40 albums have gone at least gold, but he's a musical icon, and there's a whole army of independent mcs that have almost as much talent as FP does and more talent than Nelly and Eminem do but don't see the light of day 'cause their music ain't commercialised, it's actually creative.
  9. It's better to say Run-DMC's the greatest hip-hop artist than it is to say Biggie or Eminem like they usually do. Why did they seperate Will Smith from JJFP and KRS-ONE from BDP, they could've gave one of those spots to Hieroglyphics, since their career has been longer than even Salt-N-Pepa now, no disrespect to Salt-N-Pepa, they opened doors for female rappers, but Hieroglyphics deserve their due, the only way I'm happy with JJFP being ranked #30 is if hip-hop pioneers are ranked above him, not current chart rappers like Jay-Z and Eminem, I could make a better list than this with these same artists!
  10. I can't believe more people are buying Ciara instead of Brian Mcknight, what is the world coming to? :speechless:
  11. LL Cool J "Hollis To Hollywood", such a witty track, this is one of my favorite LL songs ever
  12. I think LL has the same problem that Will has sometimes, he doesn't release a lot of his great tracks as singles, "Can't Think" would've propelled "G.O.A.T." past "Marshall Mathers LP" if it was released around the same time as "Stan", but unfortunately he released the song with Kelly Price that was possibly the weakest track on the album. :nono:
  13. I think Will's "The Rain" and "Afro Angel" are better, if they were released, peeps would be saying Will's one of the deepest rappers ever, screw Columbia, they f'd up his image! :poke: I could name 100 JJFP/Will Smith songs that're better than those listed on there. "Brand New Funk", "I Think I Could Beat Mike Tyson", and "Wild Wild West" should've gotten a mention, oh hell even "Men In Black", "Will 2K", and "Freakin' It" are better than some of those corny songs on there.
  14. 2 Songs I heard from Kel Spencer are better than anything I heard from Nelly, they should've put him on the list instead! :cwm: I'd have JJFP trade places with Beastie Boys, with them being at #30, and JJFP at #4 ranked up with Run-DMC, Public Enemy, and 2Pac.
  15. Will Smith "Chasin' Forever" btw, that's awesome to hear Q-Tip making a comeback! When's his album comin' out?
  16. What the hell, Melle Mel at only #95? Kanye West ahead of Busta Rhymes? KRS-ONE at only #32? JJFP at only #30? Slick Rick at only #40? Mase ahead of Big Daddy Kane? Fat Joe at only #99? This list is retarted!
  17. Good idea, I made my top 10 list already, everybody should post theirs here!
  18. Hey this is hot! Any word on when his new album comin out? :afro: There should be a "So Fresh" Part II.
  19. :werd: Nobody can keep their sales up album after album, TLC sold 14 million with one album, then their last album barely hit platinum, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" sold 30 million and his last album only sold 5 million, Wyclef's "The Carnival" sold 2 million copies and his last album didn't even sell 50,000, Boyz II Men's "II" also sold 14 million like TLC and I don't think "Throwback" even sold 100,000 copies, and MC Hammer sold 10 million with "Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" but his independant albums don't even sell 100,000 either, so I'd say if Will only sells 50,000 one day then that's a failure, put things in perspective, as fans we wanna see Will sell 20 million with this album but that ain't happening, so just chill, 'cause even Kanye, one the most popular new rappers out now only sold 2 million on his last album, which is what "He's The DJ..." sold, Will's been there and done that, he has a lot of paper and platinum plaques now anyway, he's doing this for the love.
  20. What the hell is Nelly, Puff Daddy, and Kanye West doing on there? That list is a disgrace to put them on the same list as LL, Public Enemy, JJFP, Run-Dmc, and the few deserving legends on there! "Rump Shaker" is more deserving to be on there than "Hot In Herre"!
  21. This is no offense to Jay-Z but even he admits that he looks up to LL Cool J, Jay-Z has some skills but he ain't LL, LL's been out for 20 years ballin' since Jay-Z was a teenager and is still on top, he has 10 platinum albums under his belt, it'd be 11, but he took time off to work on a #1 movie comin' out this weekend and is a family man so raising his kids is most important to him, he's a champion like Will in no matter what he does, he set the standard for entrepeneurisms in hip-hop and still is, like a said before to say Jay-Z is a bigger legend than LL is like sayin' Lebron James is better than Michael Jordan, only time'll tell, LL's still doing his thing and is not retired yet so I don't think it's fair to write him off.
