  1. Hey I don't see them playing this video much so far, but I did see Cuban Link and Mya perform it today on Soul Train, it was a good performance, and everytime I hear this song, I think about how Cuban Link's biting me, he says I'm a playa-4-life in the song, the name of my 1st song I ever wrote was "Playa-4-Life", they should've put me in the video. :kekeke:
  2. I think I earned more respect for him in releasing this song as a single, when I downloaded his album this was the only song that I really liked, it's a hot video, and I can't be mad at him for getting Mya in the video, I ain't mad at you playa! :thumb:
  3. Thanks y'all I think that the best thing about writing songs is looking back and think about how I felt when I made it, I definately think a lot peeps could relate to this especially ones in school 'cause the smarter girls get overlooked a lot by those who are stuck up but get a lot of guys from lookin' good, but I appreciate the intellectual girls more, sometimes I think about if I was back in high school still I'd probably try to get to know some of them better than I did, a lot of them were shy and didn't talk much, I wish I could of said more to them 'cause girls like them ain't easy to find, I'm still trying to find one like I described, it's more than just a song to me. I think the songs are reflection of life and I'm trying to live and learn more. And about the songs I mentioned as a reference, I was listening to "The Light" on Common's "Like Water For Chocalate" the other day and I was thinkin' about this "Intellectual Girl" song I wrote right around that time after I heard that song, music can touch you, and I want someone to say the same thing one day when they hear my songs, I wanna express myself the right way. Thanks for the feedback! :thumb:
  4. I wish there was this kind of intelligent debates like this over at willsmith.com, I make a post asking when's "Tell Me Why" comin' out and hardly anybody responds while there's a million posts about how hot Will is there. :kekeke: I give up over there! :blabla: Whatever the future holds we'll have to see, I ain't really that big on movies, my cd collection is triple of what my dvd collection is, and I'm sure there are some people out there that're the opposite, everyone has different tastes, I guess it's only fair for Will to cater both fan bases since he's such a great entertainer.
  5. Hey I just put on Public Enemy's "Yo! Bum Rush The Show", they're debut album, it wasn't as revolutionary as "It Takes A Nation Of Millions...", but it was still a masterpiece, there were a lot of tracks where Chuck D and Flava Flav would go back and forth and spit, rather than just them doing solo tracks, that was awesome, they put a lot of hip-hop battle tracks on there too like "Miuziweighsaton", "Time Bomb", and "Public Enemy #1", that'd be dope if Chuck D and Flava Flav went back and forth like that on this album.
  6. :werd: The Bulls self-destructed in the last 2 minutes, I thought they had the game locked up, they should've brought Ben Gordon into the ballgame even though he didn't score to that point, he needed the experience in that pressure situation, I figured they wouldn't win the title this year because they needed more experience but they've been playing with a lot of heart and should play better next year, but I was looking forward to a Bulls-Heat matchup, oh well. I don't think the Bulls should've traded Mutombo, I figure that trade was gonna burn us in the long run, his defense has been big for the Rockets this year and in the playoffs, I think they'll win tonight. btw, Reggie Miller's gonna have a big game tonight that's for sure, Reggie Miller playin' Game 7, that's a hollywood script right there, I can't wait to see that, I love the playoffs! :afro:
  7. I was looking at the news section there and it says that there'll be more performance dates added to the calendar on May 22nd, maybe he might do Summer Jam at the Meadowlands in New Jersey next month! :fingersx:
  8. LL Cool J "Illegal Search", another timeless classic off "Mama Said Knock You Out" "what the hell are you lookin' for can't a young man make money any more?"
  9. Like I said before if they perform at a club, it's better odds that you'll meet them than if you go to a stadium with 20,000 people, I would be just as happy if they released a DVD with them performing 'cause odds are I won't meet them going anyway, as long as I see the performance I'll be happy, a lot of hip-hop artists release DVDs, Jazzy Jeff performs so much though, I'm surprised he hasn't released one yet. :confused3:
  10. Well I went digging through some of the older songs I wrote and came across this one, which is my favorite from back then, check it out: “Intellectual Girl” Written By Big Ted Verse One: Yo, sometimes life is crazy That's when I feel sad times dazin' me You can't tell but look even I get depressed 'Cause sometimes all I see is stress This world is nothing but a mess My rhymes come straight from my heart That's what makes all haters fall apart Good people in the world die everyday But the haters keep rolling around the way See they'll have to answer to God someday I don't worry 'cause they'll really never have their day And yo it's sad to see how some women get abused Some brothers have a disrespectful views However, some chicks can be hating too They'll just break your heart and stomp on you I desperately want a lady with a strong point of view With a strong mind that has a lot of ingredients like a pot of beef stew Chorus: Yo, I need an intellectual girl That doesn't just want me to buy her rubbies and pearls And that will love me for who I am She can't treat me like another man 'Cause I don't just want to have sex This girl has to be someone I can talk with and connect Yo, I need an intellectual girl 'Cause a G needs love in this world Verse Two: Understand that I don't need a whore 'Cause I rather have someone worth much more That can make my day when I'm sad and sore Yo, see I need a girl that will never keep me bored And she'll be there for Big Ted when it rains and pours That won't ever be afraid to knock on my door I don't want to have to fuss and fight I want to love her with all my might Hurt, pain, and rejection would be my fright So that's why this girl needs to show me “The Light” Like I'm Common and then I'll make sure our future is bright I would never let her out of my sight When I see her, I 'll just want to hug and kiss her 'Cause I won't ever want to shove and piss her Like Guy I'll give this shorty “A Piece Of My Love” There will be no girl that I would place above As long as she's sweet as a dove Or maybe sweet as a peach This love could get “Juicy” like that track from Biggie I want to walk with her at the beach And I want to hear all the wisdom that she could teach [Repeat Chorus] Verse Three: See I need a lover That will treat me like no other This intellectual girl doesn't have to be the best in her class And she doesn't have to tell me about her past I will treat her precious like glass And I won't ever let her pass Me especially when I need a lady with a strong mind That will help me get through the hip-hop grind Big Ted just wants to have a good time Yo getting the phat cars and cribs off of success won't quite fit 'Cause all I rather have is shorty I could chill with I don't worry about just money I want have a day that's sunny Every night I pray to the lord for a intellectual girl Like Mary J. that could “Share My World” And help all my life and dreams unfurl That'll be worth much more than materials I want a lady that'll keep it real Even through my life ordeals The love that we'll share, nobody could steal That's every night I dream I'll meet a lady that'll make my life gleam 'Cause I realise love and affection Must be there when I get older to give my heart and soul ressurection See I'm trying to make rhymes deep for eternity When I find this dream girl my life will be complete And Big Ted'll never go in defeat [Repeat Chorus]
  11. I think there should be a lil' space in between battles, I've been pretty busy lately and don't have much time on my hands to battle at the moment but waiting until November is a lil' too long. :kekeke: :toetap:
  12. Damn this topic is getting out of hand now, Will said that he's gonna do performances and more singles'll be released between now and August, what more do you want from him? :speechless: I don't see anybody in showbuisiness working as hard as him, there's no need for us to question his work ethic. :poke:
  13. Well yeah "Party Starter's" sorta like MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This", it has a lot of rhthym, but it has some conscious lyrics in there too, it wasn't just your average dance song: "My my music hits me so hard Makes me wanna say oh my lord Thank you for blessing me With a mind to rhyme..."
  14. Will shouldn't just sample Stevie Wonder, he should work with him, if they did a song together, that'd be the greatest love song ever, Stevie Wonder's releasing a new album next month, Will should get on a remix with him. :thumb:
  15. Well they're out performing, that's what I'm talking about! :kool:
  16. That's a great article, nuff props for posting that Tim. :thumb: As long as JJFP are out performing, I'm happy about that, as long as they release some of that stuff on DVD eventually, they should perform at Hot 97's Summer Jam though next month at the Meadowlands, I'd sit through watching Game and Ludacris perform if they go to perform.
  17. Happy Birthday AJ! :afro: :birthday:
  18. Will takes risks with his movies by doing different things and people appreciate that so he should do the same with his music, if he does that he'll be a bigger legend than he is already.
  19. I've heard people say that "Blueprint" is a conscious album though and I'd have to disagree about that, that was the point I was making, that's not saying the album's wack, there's some good tracks on there, one great track, I think I'm just spoiled listening to so much ol' school hip-hop that I have too high expectations to what a great album is, so in that I say the album's good not great, this is how I feel about it 'cause to me "The Ruler's Back" was a weak attempt to remake Slick Rick's classic as the album opened, "Ola Hovito" was weak, I think I even like "La Fiesta" as a better Latin song, "Song Cry" sounds like "No More", which isn't one of my favorite Will song, "Girls Girls Girls" is but it's not as good as Slick Rick's storytelling about women, and those club songs "Jigga That N***" and "Izzo" don't bring as much energy as Will does when he does club bangers, so needless to say if people think this is classic, they should consider "Willenium" to be classic too, they're just good albums not great albums, ain't nothin' wrong with putting out a good album, Nas' "Street's Disciple" is a good album, LL's "The Definition" is a good album(I'd prefer those 2 over "The Blueprint" though along with "Willenium" but that's my personal taste, everyone's different) considering all the wack s*** comin' out in recent years people might say that "Blueprint" is classic, they might say Eminem's "Marshall Mathers LP" is also classic too just for a few good songs on it, but if you weigh them against late '80s/mid '90s classics, it wouldn't stack up, 'cause back then every song mattered. To me Jay-Z has a lot of skills but I don't think he's as great as KRS-ONE, LL, Rakim, FP, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, or a lot of the ol' school veterans, but it's safe to say that he's one of the better mcs out now, it's hard to compare different eras though realistically, that's why it'd be better if they made lists for each time period 'cause hip-hop is different now, but Will's legacy is safe already and it's amazing he's still dominating after 20 years in the game, this is Hank Aaron longevity.
  20. Boyz II Men and MC Lyte "What You Won't Do For Love"
  21. It's like what I'm reading about hip-hop called "Where You're At" with an underground mc from Brooklyn saying: "Like I wrote one verse and I played it to my boys and they were all 'that s---'s too deep'. So I rerecorded it and didn't change a thing, just added 'my nigga' at the end of each line, and they were all like, 'Ok, now I'm feeling you'. It's crazy but you've gotta give the people some kind of hook." People like dumbed-down music and that's a sad thing about music, these rappers ain't doing nothin' different than what Britney Spears does it seems now. :speechless:
