  1. Yeah that battle's neck and neck, both of y'all did a great job, I know I'm gonna have to come hard in the next round now.
  2. I found this on the Enemy Board: "Public Enemy's all new Paris-produced album, "Rebirth Of A Nation," hits stores on August 9th, 2005! Featuring all-new material, Rebirth Of A Nation will be available through all major retailers - Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, Borders, FYE, Tower, Sam Goody, Circuit City, Virgin, and The Wherehouse, among others, as well as select retailers online. Featuring Paris, Dead Prez, Kam, MC Ren, Immortal Technique and The Conscious Daughters, Rebirth Of A Nation is an exercise in controlled chaos, as Paris pulls out all of the stops to present his finest work yet for what is arguably the most important hip-hop group ever. The single, "Can't Hold Us Back," hits stores July 12th. "
  3. *cough* *cough* 50 CENT *cough* :werd: It's more than just him though but of course he's the main suspect! :ali: :ali:
  4. :werd: Well this basically comes down to balance, every mc major labels sign these days is a wannabe 2Pac and Biggie, I think the deaths of Biggie and 2Pac opened up the flood gate even more for commercial trash to come in, the veteran artists started to get dumped even more, now the only ol' school cats on major labels are LL and FP, that's a shame too and more thug rappers got signed, even Dr. Dre all he's doing is signing thug rappers, why can't he sign more variety to his Aftermath? Major label execs are loving it 'cause these kids are really eating up what they're being spoonfeed, catchy beats and hooks, they listen to so much of it that if you put a song on the radio that's a lil' bit creative, they won't request it, look at "Bridgin' The Gap", that was arguably the most creative hip-hop single in years, but it got no airplay and even Nas is starting to fade from the spotlight, he's signing new artists like Quan to his independent label, but they're getting no buzz 'cause Nas' sales are slippin', KRS-ONE signs a bunch of young talent to his independent label but of course they ain't gettin' no buzz 'cause KRS-ONE ain't sellin' that much either. Glorfying violence ain't gonna solve anything like I said before, it's giving this negative sterotype that all black people live in the gutter, which is not true, but the kids might believe that since that's all they see in the music videos, we need to see a different side of black people too in the spotlight, that's why some civil rights folks are mad at the way society is now, 'cause they fought so hard to get blacks out the gutter and we throw ourselves there again! :nono:
  5. Well with this continual sad state of commercial I hope "Lost and Found" could remain on the charts for a long time and win some awards 'cause a true artist deserves to get more props, I'm tired of seeing a lot of wack talent/subpar talent artists get overhyped.
  6. I know I coulda came harder than I did so I'd say FPC and Hero had great verses! :thumb:
  7. Hey the Bulls played pretty damn well last night, Niciloni had a big game! :kool:
  8. I'm reading a book called "Where You're At" by Patrick Neate inspired from a phrase in a Rakim song, "It ain't where you're from, it's where you're at", it's about how hip-hop's perceived around the world from places like New York, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Capetown, and Rio De Janeiro.
  9. RIP Left Eye, I might have to put some TLC on!
  10. The problem with hip-hop right now is that they have too many rappers sounding similar to each other, most of the top charting rappers making songs with ignorant subject matter, not every rapper should sound like Will Smith but not every rapper should sound like 50 Cent either, there has to be more balance.
  11. I think Beanie's album is ranked lower than Will's now and is about to fade off the charts, even that single with Snoop ain't workin' out too well for Beanie, is it just me or is Snoop a cameo on every hip-hop album these days? :kekeke:
  12. Aight I'll be waiting till the next round then :chuks: :ali:
  13. They should put Will Smith and Fat Joe on the cover and take Lil' Jon and Jadakiss off, that looks like a bunch of commercial crap on the most part that I wouldn't consider buying, well at least they mentioned Will.
  14. Well Sugar Hill Gang weren't the 1st ever rappers, they were just the 1st ones to record, some of the true pioneers of hip-hop never officially recorded but that's a whole another discussion. You could actually say Muhammad Ali was one of the 1st people to ever freestyle, he did some nice rhymes, but you could even say that's spoken word poetry or b-bop which was around before hip-hop. :afro:
  15. Good luck and be safe, hope to see you back here soon! :peace:
  16. I didn't hear the song yet, I ain't really too much into this Kanye West hype, don't get it twisted I don't hate him, I'm just not that much into him, I'd rather see Common do well on the charts with his album when it comes out.
  17. Hey I ain't no Nick Cannon fan but he ain't the worst mc in hip-hop, he looks up to Will, that can't be wack, so I wouldn't diss him so hard, but I'd rather see real mcs like KRS-ONE get back on the charts again, not these cats who never rapped in their life start rappin' like Nick Cannon and Kanye West. :poke:
  18. Here's what some of the NBA Legends have picked to go to the NBA Finals: http://www.nba.com/playoffs2005/legends_050422.html I have the same picks as Robert Parish! :afro:
  19. KRS-ONE feat. Ill Will "Slap 'Em Up" btw 3cookies,"Lost and Found" is Will Smith's album that came out a few weeks ago :slap:
  20. I gave it a 8, there's still room for improvement there.
  21. Hey I switched back in forth between the Pacers-Celtics game and TNT, it's nice to see them showin' "Ali", I see they're showin' "Bad Boys" now on TNT, I guess they're havin' a Big Willie mini marathon. :thumb:
  22. Both of y'all delivered nice verses, it'll be interesting to see who wins.
  23. :werd: I love battlin' too, I think that's what seperates hip-hop from music, the different ways of expression, I always look forward to battlin'!
  24. That brings back some memories for me, thanks for posting that, it's amazing how much great dicussions we've had here! :ridepony:
