  1. Well that's relevant 'cause the radio suckas don't play my 3 favorite mcs but Chuck D was the 1st to say that, everyone took the concept from him since he made the greatest album in hip-hop history! :poke:
  2. Naughty By Nature feat. 3LW "Feels Good"(Don't Worry About A Thing), nice track with the nice weather out now! :dancingcool:
  3. What up y'all I wrote this a couple months ago when I was frustrated about being ignored by the girl I used to care a lot about, I poured my heart into this song, peep this: “To Feel Alone” Written By Big Ted Hook: Soon you're gonna be all alone Cryin' out for someone to make a happy home What 'bout those days I called you on the phone And you said you were too busy to talk Actin' like I wanted to stalk I leave you with that thought You can't always get what you want Verse One: That's right girl this isn't the time There was a phase in my life that I would of gave all my time It was one hard try I attempted and I swallowed my pride I would of gave you anything you wished, but you only thought about that other guy You wouldn't spare a moment for me, but for him you always had time I'm not tryin' to be full of jealousy, that's not gonna bring back the time Sometimes I wish I could be turning back the hands of time A part of me thinks that the time I tried for you was a waste But the other part sees that it was fuel to penetrate I wouldn't learn if I didn't make mistakes I don't see how you could have enough friends that you could just turn me away See they all left, but you now see how Big Ted is the true friend you can't replace And now of course it's too late, let's see how you feel when you get turned away [Repeat Chorus] Verse Two: Now I don't like to be repeating During this rhyme I'm gonna keep this short and sweet to hit You should know that with me I didn't care about creepin' There was a border line that I wouldn't try exceedin' Unless you wanted me to do it But there was a deep meaning to this Feeling I had for you brewing My adrenaline would rush everytime before I'd talk to you again And you know I was tryin' to be cool wit ya boyfriend I also kept the peace with your parents Even when they were beefin' at me like I was only callin' you to give me head Being a pimp isn't the way of my reputation So that thought was givin' me aggrevation Yo, it's 'bout time that the tables spin, now you'd understand the way I was feeling Hook #2: You'll never know how does it feel Like those words in that song from D'angelo See I'm the one who kept it real But you left me in the cold Since I've been able to deal With everything on my own It's not such an ordeal But to you it's now a different flow When the ones you depended on will just go
  4. Well at this moment it's: 1-FP 2-KRS-ONE 3-LL Cool J 4-Nas 5-Talib Kweli/Common btw, this should be in the Caught In The Middle Forum
  5. I can't believe how people slept on "Nightmare On My Street", peeps usually only talk about "Summertime", "Boom Shake The Room!", "Girls Ain't Nothin' But Trouble", and "Parents Just Don't Understand" when they talk about JJFP but that was an excellent storytellin' track on FP's greatest album, it's the hip-hop version of "Thriller": "Now I have a story that I'd like to tell About this guy you all know he had me scared as hell He comes to me at night after I crawl into bed He's burnt up like a weenie and his name is Fred He wears the same hat and sweater every single day And even if it's hot outside he wears it anyway He's home when I'm awake but he shows up when I sleep I can't believe that there's a nightmare on my street It was a Saturday evening if I remember it right And we had just gotten back off tour last night So the gang and I thought that it would be groovy If we summoned up the posse and done rushed the movie I got Angie Jeff got Tina Ready Rock got some girl I'd never seen in my life That was all right because the lady was chill Then we dipped to the theater set to ill buggin cold havin a ball Somethin about Elm st. was the movie we saw The way it started was decent you know nuthin real fancy About this homeboy named fred and this girl named nancy But word when it was over I said yo that was def And everything seemed all right when we left But when I got home and laid down to sleep That began the nightmare, but on my street It was burning in my room like an oven My bed soaked with sweat And man I was bugging I checked the clock and it stopped at 12:30 It had melted it was so darn hot And I was thirsty I wanted something cool to quench my thirst I thought to myself yo this heaters the worst But when I got downstairs I noticed something was wrong I was home all alone but the tv was on I thought nothin off it as I grabbed the remote I pushed the power button and then I almost choked When I heard this awful voice coming from behind It said, "You got my favorite letter but now you must die Man, I ain't even wait to see who it was Broke inside my drawers and screamed, "So long, cuz" Got halfway up the block I calmed down and stopped screaming Then thought, "Oh, I get it, I must be dreaming" I strolled back home with a grin on my grill I think that since this is a dream I might as well get ill I walked in the house, the Big Bad Fresh Prince But Freddy killed all that noise real quick he grabbed me by my neck and said "Here's what we'll do We gotta lotta work here, me and you The souls of your friends you and I will claim You've got the body and I've got the brain" I said, "Yo Fred I think you got me all wrong I ain't partners with nobody with nails that long Look, I'll be honest man, this team won't work The girls won't be on you, Fred, your face is all burnt" Fred got mad and his head started steaming But I thought what the hell im only dreamin I said please leave Fred so I can get some sleep But give me a call maybe we'll hang out next week I patted him on the shoulder, said "thanks for stopping by" then I opened up the door and said "take care guy" he got mad, drew back his arm, and slashed my shirt I laughed at first, then thought, "hold up, that hurt" It wasn't a dream, man, this guy was for real I said, "Freddy, uh, pal, there's been an awful mistake here" No further words and then I darted upstairs Crashed through my door then jumped on my bed Pulled the covers up over my head And said, "Oh please do something with Fred" He jumped on my bed, went through the covers with his claws Tried to get me, but my alarm went off And then silence It was a whole new day I thought, "Huh, I wasn't scared of him anyway" Until I noticed those rips in my sheets And that was proof that there had been a nightmare on my street FP: Oh man, I gotta call Jeff, I gotta call Jeff Come on, come on Come on Jeff, answer Come on, man JJ: Hello? FP: Jeff, this is Prince, man Jeff, wake up, Jeff, wake up JJ: What do you want? FP: Jeff, wake up, man, listen to me, Jeff JJ: It's three o'clock in the morning, what do you want? FP: Jeff, Jeff, would you listen to me? Listen, whatever you do, don't fall asleep JJ: Man FP: Jeff, listen to me, don't go to sleep, Jeff JJ: look, I'll talk to you tomorrow, I'm gong to bed Ahhhhhh! Ahhhhhh! (Ha ha ha ha ha haaaa) FP: Jeff! Jeff! Jeff! Jeff! Answer me, Jeff! I'm your D.J. now, Princey! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haaaaa"
  6. It's hard to compare mcs from different eras like I said a few times before, but if look at everything out when JJFP came out only Rakim and Big Daddy Kane had the lyricism that could currently work still, even Slick Rick didn't have that type rhyme structure they had but he was one hell of a storyteller I don't know if he could put out an album like "Lost and Found" though (why can't a label sign him so we could hear his new album? ) to keep up with the current times, some of us might not like FP's uptempo tracks he did recently but that represents his personna and I don't see nothin' wrong with that 'cause he ain't afraid to smile in front of the camera or in public like some rappers are 'cause they act harder than they really are, but Rakim was known most for puttin' out battle tracks even though he became more conscious on The 18th Letter and The Master, Nas wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for them though you gotta respect that and he wouldn't call himself the beest lyricist and even though he's one of my favorites I admit that he has some down moments in between, he doesn't rap with the consistant energy that FP does on every track. You don't have to have the biggest structure to be a great mc, you just gotta keep your lyrics on point to the track you're making, but I'd say that FP's rhyme structure has actually improved with each album.
  7. Well you could take another line too from FP that was originally used by Chuck D: "Black radio, they don't play me though"-"I Wish I Made That" "Radio, suckas never play me on the mix , just OK me"-"Rebel Without A Pause" even KRS used it too referring to Chuck D on a 2003 song "Radios, suckas never play me or Chuck, do you think we really give a f***?"-"You Feel That?" That's a great way to link my 3 favorites mcs together! :afro:
  8. Well Def Jam is the biggest empire in hip-hop on the East Coast and Aftermath is the biggest empire on the West Coast, that doesn't mean that their artists get great contracts, don't believe the hype, too bad they don't sign the best mcs either and give them the contracts they deserve, how could Dre choose to sign 50 Cent and dump Rakim? :poke: Did the album sell worse than 100,000 in other countries?
  9. Slick Rick is the James Brown(he did a lot of storytelling in his music too, blueprinting the foundation of hip-hop) of hip-hop 'cause everybody samples him, even FP samples Slick Rick and James Brown as well, give respect where respect's due, and as much as we all like Pac we have to realise that it was cats like Slick Rick, JJFP, and NWA that got him into rapping, it was such a great era in hip-hop though when JJFP came out with everyone having their own styles but they definately held their own by winning the 1st rap grammy and having a lot of cred as well, Chuck D was proud that JJFP won the grammy for hip-hop(that's the creator of hip-hop's greatest album sayin' that so props could get no better than that, that "It Takes A Nation Of Millions..." album could be turned into a movie, well actually "Do The Right Thing" actually symbolized a lot of that album's themes dealing racism and the struggles of reality ), and FP's actually as strong now as he was then, he really took it back to the essence on this album.
  10. :werd: Controversy sells now not talent, I liked it better even when Biggie sold 10 million back then instead of Eminem sellin' that now, even though I wasn't that much into him, but even that didn't happened until Biggie was murdered, so I wonder how "Big Willie Style" sold that much, that was an odd case, of course "The Score" sellin' 10 million was another rare case of talent sellin' which hasn't happened since, even "I Got Next" almost went platinum, I long for those days again since KRS only sells 10,000 now, one of Nas' recent albums should've sold 10 million though 'cause he's been really pouring his heart out on record and deserves some recognition. Anyway back to topic, top 5 is great news since the single ain't in top 10, but what are the sales worldwide right now where it was released?
  11. Are you sure that Royce was the 1st to say that 'cause I actually thought I heard a few ol' school mcs said that line. I was listening to a Pep Love song and I thought I heard him say a line that Chuck D said once but I think MistaChuck even took that from an older soul song: "you can bet your last money/it'll be a stone gas honey", there's millions of songs so some lines are bound to be similar, some are props, others just do it unknown
  12. Oh that's great that my other fav. legends KRS, Rakim, and Nas felt "Lost and Found" but that doesn't shock me 'cause they've said positive things about JJFP in the past, and it's also nice that Jay-Z likes it too, I guess he's a bigger man than Eminem after all even though I haven't felt his recent work, I'm gonna peep the next Chuck D terrordome and see if he comments on "Lost and Found" as well 'cause he ususally seems to give Will props more than anybody so I'm sure he'll say somethin'. :kool:
  13. Heavy D "Overweight Lover" :ridepony:
  14. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a possible nomination(s)! That's a long wait though, hopefully there's a tour in between now and then. :toetap:
  15. Yeah well JJFP say to be yourself, you can look up to them and be inspired from them, but you have to live your life and be you, nobody's exactly the same in life and none of us are perfect and we all have our own religious beliefs, there ain't no need to go that far man! :speechless:
  16. When it comes to lyricism FP is in the same class as KRS, LL, Chuck D, Slick Rick, and Pac(even though he's in a class all himself) with different styles, the lyrics are really deep and the flows are incredible, he's arguably the most versatile mc too, he could do a party tracks, conscious reality tracks, battle tracks, and passion tracks all to perfection, you could close your eyes and see the story that he's doing on his songs, his consistantly to do it album after album is incredible too, most rappers only make one or 2 solid albums, but basically every album he's done has been strong("Born To Reign" was more of an album he just did with his Columbia contract expiring and his heart wasn't fully into it, but it'd be a respectful release for most 'cause there are a couple of strong storytellin' tracks like "Mama Knows" and "Block Party"). FP and Slick Rick took Run-Dmc's fun and humorous storytellin' to another level in the late '80s with He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper and The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick respectively, basically this storytellin' art has been dead among new rappers out now when it's hard to tell what their songs are about, at least the ones on the radio, since Nas' songs don't even get airplay, look like Bow Wow's coming along though possibly but that remains to be seen as far as young mcs are concerned, I'm hoping that someone like me who has a passion for the game could get a chance too, but FP will stay around in this game on top as long as he wants to do it and this album proves that.
  17. Public Enemy(that "Mr. Nice Guy" sounds like a PE beat, they should do a remix) KRS-ONE LL Cool J Nas Aceyalone
  18. JJFP feat. Snoop "Pump Ya Brakes" :kool:
  19. I could go on all day about my other favorites besides FP and LL but I'd say the Teacha KRS-ONE is another one of the biggest mc of all the big mcs, the stuff that he's done off the mic to get peeps into God is also inspiring in itself, actually he is the biggest also 'cause his rhymes and flow are both so powerful and he was the 1st mc to seriously expand the topics more than any other mc did, sure there was "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, but KRS took consciousness to another level, just like FP took the fun and humor of Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" to another level, and I think that 2Pac and Nas were inspired from the impact of "Criminal Minded", and I think Busta Rhymes and Redman were inspired from the comedic sense that JJFP came out with "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper", I'm still looking for more than half of KRS' 13 albums but I've enjoyed every one I bought of his, if you look at the golden era hip-hop there was so much versatility that JJFP and LL could do uptempo tracks while KRS-ONE and Public Enemy would do political tracks, and NWA and Ice-T could do their hardcore tracks all in the same show, I wish hip-hop could go back to that.
  20. I don't get why FP would need anyone to write songs with him either, he literally wrote the blueprint of how to be a successful mc over these years, he don't need help, well him and Skillz are good friends so it ain't a biggie anyway, it ain't like he's workin' with peeps that he ain't cool wit.
  21. Well I'd say my favorite mc besides JJFP would be LL Cool J 'cause the 1st hip-hop CD I ever bought was "All World" when I was 11 and I still feel him as much as ever, I have most of his albums except for "14 Shots To The Dome", "Bad", and "Walking With A Panther", basically every big mc has admired his style.
  22. So how much copies did it sell in the UK? Do Americans buy music albums more than any other country does? So #15 is less than 100,000 there? I was just curious to know how world sales go since I mostly just only hear about US sales since I live in America and I usually pay no mind to charts. :blabla:
