  1. I think I'll probably cop another Code Red in the future when it gets remastered, I usually keep up with cleanin' my CD's that're in heavy rotation for me, that's dope to see how all the CD covers look different. :wiggle:
  2. Well when I say mainstream I mean mcs that're on top record labels, those artists I mentioned don't sound pop, they just happen to be on popular labels.
  3. "Tell Me Why" has a beat that meshes well with the emotion of the song, I'd also say that "Switch" and "Party Starter" are also addictive beats, the production on this album's really good. :thumb:
  4. Yeah that beat's crazy, Luda did a nice job on that beat, u gotta admit that he's probably the only dope mainstream rapper out there besides Nas, Snoop, LL, and of course FP, I wouldn't put him up there on the same level as them but I recognize how he's keepin' his music more upbeat than most rappers are now and he doesn't go around and diss other rappers he just does his thing and doesn't worry about anyone else, if I decided to pick up a mainstream hip-hop CD I'd probably pick up his, besides how many people have Slick Rick and Quincy Jones as cameos in a video?
  5. FP "Lost and Found", I love the way he breaks down the state of hip-hop :ali:
  6. Once again I'd say that I blame Dr. Dre for a lot of this mess in hip-hop, if he really loves the hip-hop culture as much as he claims he does, he should take a stand and dump D12 and G Unit from his label and hook up with Ice Cube and MC Ren again to make an NWA reunion album, sign Public Enemy 'cause they're lookin' for a label to continue their legacy on, plus sign more younger artists that love the culture like The Game but of course have their own different styles too, and put creative differences aside with Rakim to bring real hip-hop back on the charts with his strong label he has, but he decides to just sit back and do nothin' about it and just make more money producin' the crap that's out on radio now, he's become the defintion of a sell-out, my respect for him has gone down. :nono:
  7. That's a nice way to spread it out and we could also have: Will Smith Feat. Mary J. Blidge and Chuck D "Tell Me Why"(Remix)
  8. Hey there ain't nothin' wrong MC Hammer, he worked hard to get in the hip-hop game, he'd sell tapes in the back of his truck before he got big, u might've thought success came to him quickly but it didn't, he also made a lot of powerful songs about God too and people called him soft for that but without God we ain't nothin' so I don't see nothin' wrong wit that, he put a lot of energy into his rhymes too even though they were simple, even 2Pac respected him when Hammer was signed to Death Row. Don't compare him to Nick Cannon either who only got a record deal 'cause he was known for doing a show for kids on Nickelodeon, he wasn't a freestyle champ, he never made a demo tape, so I don't consider him an mc, he's a comedian and should stick to that, that's not knocking him either, I'm just being real, although FP might respect him, it's probably only for the comedy not the rappin', FP's miles ahead of Nick Cannon in that department 'cause he grew up winnin' battles in Philly and dominated the golden era of hip-hop touring with the legends like Run-Dmc, Public Enemy, Slick Rick, and even NWA among others, I think hip-hop needs to get more diverse again like it used to be. I don't wish for any artist to fail, I think The Game's doing the right thing leaving G-Unit and going on tour with Snoop, I think Snoop could teach him the ropes of how to be a true artist and The Game might end up making some solid albums in the future, u never know, I like some of the songs on his album but it doesn't blow me away though right now, but I'd pick him over 50 anyday 'cause he has potential.
  9. I think The Game has potential if he seperates from 50 and starts writing more songs on his own and doing some tracks himself, he shouldn't have had so many guest appearances on his debut album, it should've been an introduction to himself, but he does give props to a lot of ol' school artists so he's not as conceited as most rappers, but anyone that remains down with 50 is gonna fall. :blabla:
  10. Yeah on a lot of hip-hop boards where FP wouldn't usually be discussed for his music, peeps are giving this album props, maybe a few ignorant ones diss him in between, but most of the feedback has been positive. :thumb:
  11. Well no label's perfect but at least he has more artistic freedom than he did on Columbia and that's why the credibility is alive again.
  12. FP's "Fightin' The Power" like PE here! :ali: He got his "Swagga" back now. :wiggle:
  13. I think we should throw JJFP, Luda, and LL on this track I'm listening to this song right now and I'm thinkin' that LL would kill this beat too like he did to those uptempo Timbaland tracks on "The Definition" album, this could be a block party track of the summer, this would be bangin' in every club, the original's dope too though. :wiggle:
  14. I watched it yesterday afternoon, I like the advice that Jada gave one of the girls there: "What I need you to do is write down on a paper one thing you like about yourself each day and repeat it to yourself because you are special", that's some deep stuff, Will's lucky to have such a strong woman like that.
  15. I agree that "Comin' To The Stage" is a great track, that'd make a hot single, damn this shoulda been a double album, I'm sure there probably was a few other dope songs they left off too. :ridepony:
  16. :werd: 2Pac fans know what real hip-hop is(at least not the bandwagon ones), they appreciate the work that FP has put in here, and if 2Pac was alive he'd appreciate it too 'cause he liked FP too.
  17. It was "Found is Nas Escobar, Dead Prez, and them" not "Nas Escobar, Dead Prez, and Em" so you know, anyway I haven't heard anyone call Nas Esco in a long time, Chuck D called him Nasty Nas though yesterday in his terrordome(when he talks about hanging out with Nas and Common recently in London), which of course was his 1st nickname.
  18. JJFP and Snoop Dogg "Pump Ya Brakes", this is gonna be a fun track to bump on my system cruisin' this summer :dancingcool:
  19. Well I've been so inspired so much to what JJFP have done together as a duo and individually, they could make a book behind the concepts in making the incredible songs they've done over the years. I wrote this song over the weekend in my anticipation of "Lost and Found" and needless to see it has met my expectations. Like FP says: "Found could be you if you felt the message" :peace:
  20. Hey y'all here's a song I've been anticipating on typing up for y'all, peep this: “Big Ted's JJFP Anthem” (JJFP 1985-2005 and beyond) Hook(Big Ted Chantin'): Even when I get signed JJFP will still be the greatest of all time Nothing will ever change my mind 'Cause if it wasn't for them my hip-hop knowledge would be blind Unique individuals continually shine Black/white/rich/poor peeps all relate to their vibe Their creativity represent the ways of life Verse One: Now in this year of 2005 Once again Jazzy Jeff's on the wheels and The Fresh Prince is on the mic To burn all competitors since they're the top duo of all time “Y'all know” what happens when Jeff's cuts back up The Prince's rhymes It's a moment of monogomy like “Summertime” But let's go back to year 1985 Which was the 1st year of my life And the moment when these two forces combined Then a year later in '86 The release of “Girls Ain't Nothin' But Trouble” would hit The b-boy circles and block parties formed a moment of bliss They'd rock the house as the freshest Then in '88 they released a classic disc “He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper” They'd reign as hip-hop masters Winnin' the 1st grammy in the music's history for “Parents Just Don't Understand” So all those hip-hop non-believers were slammed 'Cause like FP said: “I told my mother I could never make a wack jam” And the duo took even further command When Quincy Jones offered them a plan Of turnin' their hip-hop dominance into a TV show that was seen across the lands Starting in '90, “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” Took hip-hop to a place that nobody else could compare Of sayin' they did 'cause this cross-over of hip-hop opened a lot of doors for hip-hop artists Now the industry's a billion-dollar industry in the stock market With mcs on the red carpet [Repeat Hook] Verse Two: “And In This Corner” they vetoed fake crews like the supreme court Cuttin' no slack in the music There was haters talkin' foolish Sayin' that their style was soft since other rappers started rhymin' about bustin' bullets Too many started going on that gangsta tip talkin' stupid So they'd set 'em straight on “Code Red” Showin' those haters they never lost their street sense Yet they still kept the music positive A lil' “Somethin' Like Dis” would remind that they never forgot about their “Homebase” Even though you'd see them on your TVs on Monday And now it's actually shown everyday But anyways we'd then see FP doin' blockbuster classic movies like “Bad Boys” and “Independance Day” While Jazzy Jeff was on the low still rockin' crowds with turntable displays It still wasn't the same feelin' until they decided to concentrate workin' on “Big Willie Style” Which would be released in '97 That's when I started to get into their music I only knew them from watchin' them on my TV set when I was 10 I didn't know that the Fresh Prince was a lyricist until I heard “Just Crusin'” And a year later I was blown away when I heard the transformer scratches from Jazzy Jeff When I bought their “Greatest Hits” We've been “So Fresh” throughout this “Willenium” [Repeat Hook] Verse Three: They worked together on 7 of the 8 Fresh Prince discs Up to this point until "Lost And Found" anticipation, even though FP has been “Born To Reign” The diehearts like myself that he wasn't gonna be supreme without Jeff's scratches So now once again it's about to happen Don't sleep on Jeff 'cause he got his “A Touch Of Jazz” label established We're preparing for “The Return Of The Magnificent” turntable assassin Just when everyone has thought Fresh Prince was gonna just stay acting The critics will see the sustaining passion Once again they'll be lost 'cause Philly's finest has found the interaction To bring us more anthems The critics will once again be sayin' “I Wish I Made That” Who knows what the future holds for them The White House might be the future home of Fresh Prince And they'll be a party thrown by “The Magnificent” with fellow hip-hop heads in attendance This might sound a bit of a stretch Or a “shadow dream” for some But who would've thought that 2 kids from West Philly Would be having 2 decades of longevity So anythin' that comes their way from this point on as “potnas”, they'll always stay “Numero Uno” on the scene Their “Love For The Game” and fighting through “The Rain” is an inspiration for you and me “Tell Me Why” you'd doubt their legacy [Repeat Hook]
  21. It's a nice lil' storytelling song, I could get a visual from reading that, nuff props! :thumb:
  22. Hey I wrote song called "To Feel Alone" a couple months ago, great minds think alike I guess, well mine's a lil' different of course but I feel your pain homie.
